This is the first Reacher book since the very first book in the series that is told in the first person. There are few changes that make this book stand out from the rest but mostly they are superficial. The main baddie in this book is someone from Reacher's past, and the first one he hated going into. Most books he grows to the realization that he is going to kill the bad guy, but here he starts out from that point of view. One thing I really liked about the book is it had that isolation feel t...more

Jack Reacher is awesome. Better than Jack Bauer. Read all of the Jack Reacher novels, you will love them. This one is one of my favorites. Also try One Shot and The Hard Way.

I am totally loving this series. (Although I think it must be best NOT to read them back to back because then the formula wears through.) This is a good one -- tense, claustrophobic, and non-stop action. Two quibbles -- the romance between Reacher and Duffy seems...unmotivated. Like the author says to himself, "And this is the place where I start the romance," and proceeded to have Reacher make out with the nearest available female character. Also, the last 20 percent of the novel...more

WoW. This book was sooo good! Appherently the seventh ina series by Child, it was my first taste of his writing; I think I may have found another 'must read' author.

In this one, ex-MP, Jack Reacher, finds himself in Boston, face-to-face with his nemesis whom he killed a decade earlier. After a bit of research, Jack traces Quinn (the 'ghost' from his past) to possible drug runner, Zachary Beck, and so teams up with a DEA unit - operating off the books to retrieve a kidnapped agent in Beck's ...more

I was worried that since this was the fifth I've read in a row by this guy, that it would start to get old. I don't know what it is, but it just doesn't. He's that good. This one, he by chance sees a man that he thought was dead--should be dead. So he all out pursues him to get him dead again. In doing this, it conjures up all kinds of memories. Really fast read and fantastic fight scenes. I wish they'd make them into movies.

So, as a rule, I love this Lee Child series. However, as far as this book goes... I will just say that it was not my favorite Jack Reacher story. It did hold my attention and I am not sorry I read it, but I wasn't as jazzed about it like I have been with some of the others.

I am not really sure what it was that I didn't love about the book. From the start, I pegged the story for what it was... but that didn't really even bother me. I think where it fell flat for me was on the emotional ...more

Par for the course for Child and Reacher - a fast-paced, exciting thriller with interesting characters, both heroes and villains. I thought that Reacher's voice seemed much "younger" in this one than in others I've read, and the beginning kind of took me by surprise - both aspects of this book that made me enjoy it in a different way from some of the others.

Normally not my kind of book & I had a hard time getting into it in the beginning...but then I got sucked in & finished it quickly. Jack Reacher definitely has a lot more luck than any one of us can ever hope for, but the book works & it's nice to believe in a hero :)

Read this book in 2 evenings and could hardly put it down..only the late hour made me close it for the night.
Now I have to find a couple more of his writings. In this one he did a lot of flash backs. This helped me understand Reachers reasoning.

Easily my favorite Jack Reacher book yet. The action was much more forceful, flashbacks were done well and interspersed throughout the story in an unobtrusive way, Reacher was extremely believable in this story and I thought the "aha!" moment was really well written.

Jack Reacher is a former Military Police officer, now a drifter. He has a talent for finding trouble and for getting out of trouble in the most suspenseful way possible. Lee Child's writing is tight and his sense of timing is excellent. He keeps the plot moving ahead at a believable pace, and the climactic scenes are on target. Reacher is (mostly) a believable protagonist; a bit jaded, a bit rough around the edges, but 100% heroic. Patriotism and honor seem to make sense in Reacher's eyes, ...more

I found Persuader on the whole to be well written and the storyline consistently spun throughout the book. There is rather too much detail in his descriptions, though, which diminishes the realism of the story to some extent. The story was also longer than it needed to be; there was nothing sloppy about the writing, but it was almost too meticulously drawn out. I found myself wishing he'd get on with it!

I also found it too violent for my taste (everyone who might get in the ...more

If you like a detective mystery, you will love these books. The main character is ex military and very allusive. He is tough and tender at the same time. The author has a descriptive way of writing that takes you right to the place he is writing about. You can see the details of a room, you can feel the layout of a house. You can visualize the people in a public place and see how the characters are situated. And I now know more about guns than I ever thought I would. My sister got me starte...more

This is the other Reacher book, besides the prequel, The Enemy, that is told in first person, which makes it a little weird to read after having read all the other ones and gotten used to the third person narrative. Interesting twists and turns in it, and very good, but one of the more violent of the series, so if you're not big on graphic descriptions of hand-to-hand fighting, probably not your thing. (Nor really is the rest of the series, for that matter.) Even so, it is rather interest...more

Jack Reacher. What more can you say about him. Men want to be him and women...well you know what women want. Child knows how to crank up the tension in a scene while creating a truly lickable...I mean Likeable kind of character. He may not be perfect. You may not agree with everything that he does. But he has created a life for himself that the rest of us can really only dream of.

I've decided I like this author, so now I've gotten out all the library has and am reading them in order. The hero, Jack Reacher, is a likeable character who gets involved in various situations where he must exact revenge or right a wrong. The plots aren't too complex to follow, although the various twists keep me reading late at night.

I think my friend Mai Ling would call this a male romance book. My most recent read of Child's series of books with the main character Jack Reacher. I find the books a quick read, entertaining, and for me at least, hard to put down. I think some of the earlier Reacher books are better ("Without Fail"), but I'm not asking for my money back.

One of the best Reacher books by Lee Child, although he killed two guys with big rocks (how sissy is that?)
Carol Ann - don't try that with Bruce. A very tense story and superior plot. Oh by the way, he made up for the rock throwing incident by killing the bad guy by sticking a chisel in his brain. (Don't try that one either CAF)
