This is an interesting discussion. I'm not quite finished with the book (only a few pages to go). When I started reading, I too didn't like Rose at all. But as I read and we were reintroduced to her, I began to understand and have some sympathy for her. The character I like the least is Deb. She has so much, yet nothing really seems to satisfy her. In many ways, she's a lot like her mother was.
