475 I wanted to come back to this thread, having seen the movie now. I actually really liked it, I thought they did a decent job and I loved all of the actors & actress' that they choose - they seemed to fit so well. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie again, and I'm actually enjoying reading her work more now than I had prior.

41lyaqxzwdl LOL That's awsome!! That's what I should of done with Geremy's old hideously ugly green sweater that he STILL wont let me live down for throwing away.

I have an insane amount of cloth wipes I really should get better at using them, but yea I'm with you you always need a back up & I never (almost) take them with me when I'm out with the kids.

LOL Large Family Land - that totally made me giggle! You'd be suprised at how many ppl give me the googly eye for having 5 kids & the shock when they hear I want a 6th. You'd think they'd be used to it with where we live! Still I thinks you should move near me lol

41lyaqxzwdl What a bummer that is! I buy from Amazon a lot and have been suprised at what I find through them that's cheaper. THe UPS trucks go by my house everday too. I love it when they stop at my house! (I'm pathetic I know! lol)

Have you used cloth wipes on him before? That might be another option, I tend to use sposie wipes even though we cloth diaper b/c I'm lazy and sposie wipes are washable! LOL I have stacks & stacks of cloth wipes though I really should start using them again.

I wonder what it'd take to get a big chain in your area? You could always move near me! *cheesy grin*

41lyaqxzwdl It IS exhausting! Somedays I feel like I'm darned if I do and darned if I don't & other days I really enjoy all of the changes that I'm slowly making - my hope is that it will influence my children even if just a little it'll be worth it and a step in the right direction.

Do you not have a Wild Oats and/or Good Earth or something similar in your area? There are several stores here in my city that sell 7th Gen which is where I get most of my stuff. Joining a co-op is an excellent idea, I think over all that is most cost effective way to get the more expensive things.

41lyaqxzwdl Hi Natalie! Not feeling like a jerk after reading books like this is a wonderful thing, I tire of the guilt that so often comes hand in hand with such topics & being the type A person that I am, it makes me bonkers knowing I can't do it all. I've put this on my to-read list, it sounds like a good read.

475 I've not seen the movie but having read all of the reviews in this thread I think I will, it's been interesting to read the reactions & opinions that have been shared.

I wanted to respond to something that was mentioned in your first review kelly, when you said "people who are going to like Jane would have found her already." I can't help but disagree with this, & I'll share why. I feel movies like this reintroduce wonderful authors like Jane Austen and often times to people who would of otherwise not paid her or her books any attention, whether it's the best way to do so is debatable I'm sure, but none the less..

It's a very public (and I feel often times successful) way to grab someones attention. I know for me personally the movie Jane Austen Book Club is what finally got me to buy all of Jane Austen's books, it also grabbed my husbands attention & we are now both reading Emma together.

Anyhow ~ looking forward to watching this movie :o)

475 Believe it or not I I'm in the process of reading my first Jane Austen book. I'm 29yrs old this month - I know, pathetic! lol Having begun Emma I now regret having waited so long to see what JA is all about. I've known about her books since I was a kid and I've seen many of the movies, I just never made the initiative to read her stuff. Ultimately what inspired me to pull out one of her books was the movie Jane Austen Club - my husband and I decided to read Emma together. It's been fun actually & he's enjoyed it as well.

Just goes to show it's never to late to start or try something new! :o)

2117 I agree with you Tera, they left a lot out. It was a good movie, entertaining & my kids liked it but it sure left a lot to be desired, my two older kids who know the books well mentioned the same thing.

2117 Wow, maybe I'm just easily entertained but I liked it *shrugs* I mean, it wasn't an amazing movie, but I found it to be entertaining & it certainly encouraged me to learn more about blood diamonds. I think it's easy to dissasociate ones self from the reality of stories like this when your not surrounded by them, when I took the time to really think about what this movie was about I found it to be upsetting & disturbing.

2117 I LOVED this movie! Not only was it hysterical I thought the story was touching & sadly for many people a very real reality. It's a great story of two people who choose to spend their remaining days doing something positive(mostly! lol) instead of dwelling on the inevitable.

I have to admit being a wife & a mom I did feel sad for his wife, I think I would feel some very strong mixed emotions if my own husband wanted to spend his last days away from his family, and yet in that same note I would undersatnd his need to really live it up.

2117 I just saw this movie a few nights ago, I kept hearing all sorts of reviews on it, both good & bad, so I was curious to see it myself. I actually liked it more than I thought I would. I think it's a good reminder to young kids & teens that there are other options out there, it may not be an easy one but for some it's a good one & will help a family out there who can't have children of their own.

I became pg in my teens and I tell ya what, I'm glad that I was in another country when I had to tell my parents lol I hope that should one of my own children come to me with news like this, I'll respond in a similar way to the parents in this movie. Freaking out & getting upset doesn't help anyone. I'm also glad that I had someone who was willing to sit down & talk with me about my options, I think too often teens and young kids feel as if there's only one choice - this movie is a good reminder that there are other options out there.

233711 I loved this book too. I often think back to how Ralf's father handled things when he had to help teach his son a lesson, especially when I'm struggling with my own boys. It takes a very wise person(s) to lead the way Ralph's parents led.
