I am reading, in fact I just finished one and will finish another tomorrow! I just am doing other things too. Surprising huh?
How about you?
Well, yeah. I guess I should explain myself. As a whole, I think they are inherently good books, although from an aesthetic viewpoint and according to actual literary standards, they are nothing special. They are your typical novels marketed to teen girls--feel good books basically; stories you can live vicariously. The kind of novels you indulge in like chocolate. Stephanie Meyer capitalized on the hidden and unrealistic fantasies that plague the female psyche. In some ways I count it even as harmful fantasy because the novels encourage misconceptions about dating and the ideal male--as if teen girls need further distorted self images and romantic bull in their lives. They're just guilty pleasures that are embarrassingly satisfying.
