I stumbled upon these books about 3 years ago and have been hooked ever since!
Gena Showalter is such an amazing author! I love how she takes a romance type of series and turns it into so much more. There is actual substance and depth to this series. A constant war is happening inside each Lord and constant war/danger going on around them. The world is wonderfully built and so engaging. I am more invested into what is actually going on in this world than what is going on in anyones bedroom.
Though the romance can get pretty exciting, I feel those moments in the books are authentic and not forced. It feels like a natural progression in the lives of the people we are reading about.
This is a series I will hold onto and revisit for years to come.

I have read all but 2 of the books thus far in this fantastic series. However, when I read most, it was before I knew about leaving a review.
Today I am leaving a review for the following that were in a free bundle sampler. I can not say enough how much I enjoy these Lords of the Underworld.
The author weaves stories that hold you captive. We get paranormal mixed with mythology, and it's just fantastic. If you haven't read any of these books
start with the sampler. Beware the stories will pull you in and then you're captured, and you will want much more. Each Lord has their own book. However, we get others in each book, so it's like all the
lords in one explosive story.
The Darkest Night -
Maddox is the keeper of Violence and when Ashlyn appears on their land it's all this man/demon can do not to tear the entire place including his brethren to shreds.
Ashlyn has a power all of her own, and it will help these two souls find peace.
The Darkest Kiss -
Lucien is the keeper of Death, and the Gods have seen fit to gift him the mate who typically would be anyone's worst nightmare. Anya is the Goddess of Anarchy, and she is a hoot, to be honest. I just fell in love with her.
She is the light to his dark. It just works.
The Darkest Pleasure -
This is Reye' story, and he is the keeper of Pain. My heart went out to this Lord and when he meets his Mate things become chaotic, to say the least. Danika has a unique gift, and these two must do all they can to keep her family safe from one of their own. Very intense story.
The Darkest Whisper -
Sabin is the keeper of Doubt. Gwen bless her heart is a meek and mild female who has demons of her own. When these two meet passion explodes, and this fiery red head comes out of her shell.
The Darkest Passion -
We get Aerons story in this one and what a story it is. Up until now, you will have figured out he is the most hated although it's not of his own doing. Aeron is the keeper of Wrath. Well, the heavens send in one of their own to stop this demon Olivia. However, things don't turn out that way, and she will lose her halo.
The Darkest Lie -
Poor Gideon. This story gives you lies and nightmares literally. Will Gideon's demon allow him to love Scarlett though?

Book Review- The Darkest Sampler by Gena Showalter
This sampler includes the first three or four chapters of each book. It includes every book in the series so far. Maddox’s story is first where we meet the Lords and Ashlyn. Next comes Lucien’s and Reyes. It whets your appetite as you keep learning more and more. Sabin’s story is fourth followed by Aeron’s. It shows the reader how the series is unfolding and introduces the partner of each Lord.
Gideon and Scarlet are next in line with an introduction of their book. Amun’s story comes next followed by Stryder’s story. All the Lords so far appear as the series continues. Paris and Sienna come next with Kane hot on their heels. Torin’s and Baden’s story round out the book.
This is an excellent introduction to the books. I would read the beginning chapters of each book then had to go finish the actual book before I could move on to the next. I love this series and recommend this taste to those looking for a new series to read. It gives you an introduction to each character’s story.

Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series has been one of my go-to series for literally YEARS. I flippin love it, but I've gotten distracted with other books, other series, and life. It happens, ya know? I freely admit that the last two or three installments have been sitting, waiting, on my Kindle for me to get back around to them.
Enter the Lords of the Underworld: The Darkest Sampler! This fantastic little number helped jog my memory about what was going on in the overall series arch, giving me a taste and tease of what I loved about this series to begin with, and made me want to start over at the beginning so I could fully enjoy the awsesomeness that are the Lords of the Underworld.

I read the first few books in this series years ago when they first were released. Even after reading hundreds of books since then, I can remember how much I loved the series. This sampler includes excerpts from the author's series. It has the paranormal mixed in with mythology whic I found different and fascinating.

I read most of these full books years ago (and still have them in paperback) but forgot how much I enjoyed them. They are so rich and full. Just reading this sampler makes me want to read them again. The Lords of the Underworld will keep you enthralled and not want to put them down.

I like to call finding The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter a happy accident it has a great mix of action, romance, fantasy with a little comedy mixed in. I couldn’t put it down and loved reading and re reading the next 16 books in the series. I love this author and I am always thrilled with all her books

Ok...guilty pleasure alert. I almost didn't post these because I was slightly embarrassed. :p So, these aren't very well written...they are a bit cheesy and I feel like they are written for young adults (except they are THOSE kind of books) but I have totally fallen in love with these characters. The story line is that a group of immortal warriors opened Pandora's box and let out the demons inside. As punishment, the demons are now imprisoned inside the warriors. I thought the premise sounded interesting and I haven't been disappointed. They are written by the same author of the Intertwined series (I think she must really like possessed stories.) Anyway, if you are looking for a cheap and easy yet entertaining read, give these a chance. I haven't finished the series yet (there are more than these 6 as well as a few .5's) but I am looking forward to seeing what happens :)

Gena Showalter is one of those writers that build an immersive world for you to get lost in. So many chat and not once did I get lost. Every character had a distinctive profile. This bundle features the first four chapters of books 1-13 in the Lords of the Underworld series. Reading these little samplers made me want to go back and read the series again. Worth the purchase if you're introducing someone to this series of just want a quick reminder of which stories were your favorites.

I discovered this series a few years ago and fell in love instantly.
This sample collection has me eager to do a massive reread of the entire series – I hadn't realised how much I missed Showalter's characters and writing.
I also love the idea of a sampler available to readers, old and new. I think it's the perfect way to get new readers into this series and rekindle the love from old readers too.

This is a wonderful book to take part in if you are trying to decide if this is something that you would enjoy reading. I am a faithful reader of ALL of Gena's writing and as usual she doesn't disappoint. I wholeheartedly suggest you reading this series you will not be able to put the book down. They leave you begging for more.

My only complaint about the books is that there is alot to keep with. I had a hard time keeping up with who was possessed by what demon but by the time I got to the third book I was used to it. In this particular bundle she could have the first short story out of it.

My daughter has been reading Gena Showalter books for years and always encourages me to read them. I chose this sampler so I could see if her books were for me. The book is not what I expected. I;m still not completely sold, but will accept the book the next time she offers to share.

Gena Showalter can do no wrong in my eyes. I've loved every work I've read of hers and this sampler is no different. It reminds me of all of the reasons I fell in love with her writing style. If you're looking for a taste of who Gena S. is as a writer then grab your copy of this work now.
