In this screwball romantic comedy, Haruhi, a poor girl at a rich kids' school, is forced to repay an $80,000 debt by working for the school's swankiest, all-male club—as a boy! There, she discovers just how wealthy the six members are and how different the rich are from everybody else...
Tamaki’s father and grandmother, the heads of the powerful Suoh Corp., are behind the Host Club’s suspension and the plan for Haruhi to be shipped off abroad. Now the Host Club members must pull out all the stops to save their beloved leader from his family’s infighting.

Only one book to go. Haruhi takes FOREVER to confess lol.
How I choose my rating: 1* Didn't like it at all. These are rare as I usually just don't finish any book I dislike this much. 2** Didn't like it. Again usually DNF if I dislike it this much, but occasionally I feel it still has potential and I try to stick with it to the end. 3*** I liked it. It wasn't great but it was enjoyable enough. It is unlikely I'll ever reread it but I might finish the series if it is a part of one. 4**** I really liked this book. Maybe not a work of genius, but highly entertaining. I might reread this at some point, and I will almost always finish the series if part of one. 5***** I loved this book. I found little to no issues with it at all. I will probably reread this and possibly more than once. I will definitely finish the series if it's part of one.
That last third was so good and heartwarming! I'm so happy that we are getting out of this dark period from the Host Club and back into the light but at the same time I'm not sure if I'm ready to read that final volume... But still, so happy to have more light moments again and see the members being silly!
This book is the first book that I read for the Charms Extra Credit read-a-thon for the Accio challenge (a book that's on the top of your TBR).
the author talks about it in their notes that they didn't want the grandma to be like a stereotype of the "strict old lady" and i really think all the suoh's characters and motives were fleshed out

DAMNIT THIS SILLY COMEDY MANGA GOT TO ME! I LOVED this volume so much. The climax of Tamaki’s family drama was really well done and the way the host club tried their best to help him out was really touching. I loved it.
Re-read: September 2020 My reviews for the last few volumes in the series have been really long, so I'll keep this nice and short. Unsurprisingly, I completely loved this. I think I covered my reasons why I love this series pretty well in my last review, so I'm just gonna shout out my favorite scene from this volume:
I'm really excited to re-read the conclusion to the series, but I'm also super sad that this is the next-to-last volume :(
Re-read: October 2018
This book (and the series) is melodramatic as hell, but I still completely love everything about it.
Original Revie I can't believe the next volume will be the last! And that this volume ended on such a cliffhanger!
But it was nice seeing everyone come together in the final episode. I'm not ready to say goodbye to this series!
I'M SO SAD!!!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Let me start out by saying that i will be writing one review for this manga. At first i had watched the anime that was adapted from this manga and i fell in love with the characters. It is a funny, cheesy kinda gender-bender romantic plot.
Compared to the anime, the manga had far more details and other stories involved. Ok enough with the anime.
As i mentioned before the plot is a comedy, cheesy romantic, gender-bender... Haruhi is a scholarship student at an exclusive rich high school called Ouran High School. While trying to find a quiet classroom to study in she happens to open the doors to the music room, where she was presented with the appearance of 6 handsome male students that used the room for their club Ouran High School Host Club.
Because of her appearance at the time(her father's baggy shirt, big nerdy glasses and a short messy hair style) they thought she was a boy. So as they started teasing her of being gay, during her escape she smashed a very pricey vase. Due to this accident to pay off her debt she had to become the club's dog(to do the chores).
The president soon sees her without glasses and with a few changes to her hair and wardrobe she is quickly added to the host club members. In the first volume they find out that she really is a girl but they decided not to tell anyone because she wanted to work off her debt.
Her being a girl changes the way the club members act around her. They go through a lot of adventures trying to conceal the truth about her sex, protecting her.. Some of the members fall in love with her, but that's for you readers to find out...
I have to say that through this manga you can see the difference in social status of a rich person and a poor person. What difficulties and hardships they have to overcome.

Whoa... I really really loved this volume a whole bunch. And while the ending seemed a little bit ridiculous, I didn't mind because everything was coming together so beautifully. I really have appreciated Hatori-san's characters in this shojo. Haruhi specificially. She isn't your typical female lead. She really brings a fresh, new perspective and characterization to someone who does fall in love. The storyline with Tamaki's family has been very interesting to read, and I can't even lie, I totally shed tears at the end!
One more volume to go! I simply can't wait to see how it all ends.
Okay, I enjoyed the ending of the anime. It was just as crazy as the rest of it had been. But this...this is so much better! I don't think I could love Tamaki any more than I do right now. And the dedication of his friends? Of the rest of the school?! Just perfect.
Wow! This one was so long and had a lot of conversations, but I think it took me the smallest amount of time to read. There were so many things going on!
The Host Club has been disbanded by the Chairman of Ouran. Tamaki surprises everyone by not fighting the decision and even pays off the rest of Haruhi’s debt. Tamaki’s grandmother has been ousted and his father takes over the Suoh group. He does it all for Tamaki, but Tamaki doesn’t react the way he expected.
Throughout the entire volume, the Host Club members are confused. They just want to help Tamaki but he keeps pushing them away because he thinks his problems are his own. In the end, he learns that isn’t the case. It was heart warming to see all the different students of Ouran who come to help Tamaki. He had an impact on all of them, and that was apparent.
Do I have to read the last volume? I want to know what happens but I don’t want it to end!
The headmaster (tamaki's dad) goal was to fire president(tamaki's grandmother ) in front of people who's in the meeting. Tamaki begin to hate his dad because he's try his best to get his grandmother attention. I know how the tamaki's dad feels - I mean he follow his tamaki's grandmother command in years n that grandmother begin to open up to tamaki n something they're had in common on their fav shows n music. Hikaru n haruhi having to talk it out & hikaru told haruhi to confess her feelings to tamaki. First time that I see Kyo- senpai mad at tamaki's dad because of tamaki's been hurt his feelings because of his dad. Next final manga to go. Plus tamaki's friend try their best to reunite tamaki to meet his mother before his mother going back to France.

Ah, this volume was pure pleasure! I read it SO fast. There were several laugh-out-loud moments but what I enjoyed most was the well-paced drama. Nothing was excessively drawn out for suspense nor was the ongoing situation suddenly resolved by some deus ex machina (both common and annoying tropes that have ruined perfectly good stories for me in the past). Everything was in line with the characters and situations we've come to know throughout the series (Haruhi is the best!). Just one volume left--I have high hopes for the conclusion!
I’m crying!!!! Like I get why Tamaki is upset but I HATE THE TROUPE OF YOU HAVE TO FORGIVE FAMILY BCUZ YOURE BLOOD. Like 😤 his gma was the worst and the #1 reason he wasn’t allowed to see his mom and made him not talk to his friends ): and his mom comes all the way from France and he won’t even go see her??? Props to Haruhi for yelling at him to go see his mom :’( The ending had me tearing up Amazing volume. Oh no only one more to go :’(
I feel like the manga really handled the climax so much better and it really highlights how far Haruhi and the rest of the club has come throughout the story. Hikaru also has to be one of my favorites so far, especially in this volume. Can't believe it's almost ending.
