A Monster is Coming!

Rate this book
"Beginning readers who crave suspense will be drawn to this gentle spin on the 'Chicken Little' motif."—Kirkus ReviewsWhen Inchworm misunderstands a conversation between Mama Bug and her baby, he warns Toad who tells Rabbit. Rabbit tips off Mouse who alerts Fox. Before long they've concocted a monster of a rumor that is flat-out funny! This Step 2 story has basic vocabulary and short sentences. It is perfect for emergent readers.

Funny, but I've seen this plot device more times than I can count. There isn't anything really special to set it apart. Fine for learning to read.

This is an entertaining story that is very similar to Henny Penny. The narrative is short and fun to read aloud and the illustrations are vibrant and cartoonish. We enjoyed reading an ebook version of this story on our iPad.

I thought the book was funny when all the animals were hiding from a monster but there really wasn't a monster.
