Prince of Wolves
Jacque Pierce was just an ordinary 17-year-old girl getting ready to start her senior year in high school in Coldspring, Texas. When a mysterious foreign exchange student from Romania moves in across the street, Jacque and her two best friends, Sally and Jen, don't realize the last two weeks of their summer are going to get a lot more interesting.
From the moment Jacque sets eyes on Fane she feels an instant connection, a pull like a moth to a flame. Little does she know that the flame she is drawn to is actually a Canis lupis, werewolf, and she just happens to be his mate; the other half of his soul.

Just as Fane and Jacque are getting to know each other, another wolf steps out to try and claim Jacque as his mate. Will the love Fane has for Jacque be enough to give him the strength to defeat his enemy, will Jacque accept that she is Fane's mate and complete the bond between them?

Nooooo ... don't do it! Don't download this book even if it's free, unless you're a paranormal romance fan who loves gushy romances and couldn't care less about good writing. (Seriously, see my Q&A below.)
There's a decent teen paranormal romance novel trying to break through the fanfic writing here but, Houston, we have a problem. Luckily for all of you, I have the solution!
This is a simple quiz question for you denizens of GR. Here's a sample of a few lines from the very first page of Prince of Wolves. (Trust me, I have very carefully transcribed it, including the punctuation. Or lack thereof.) Please read it and answer the multiple choice question below:

(a) OMG, that's SO romantic! I wish I could meet a guy like that!
(b) The writing and grammar are atrocious! Who in the heck proofread this book? I hope the author didn't pay them ...

One star. It has a few interesting ideas and plot turns, but in the end it's a fail for me. The overly gushy writing, the typos, misspelled words, and awful grammar: it's overwhelming. A hot mess that will be enjoyed only by completely non-critical PNR lovers.

He was tall, probably six foot one or so, his hair was jet black, it was longer on top and she could tell that he had bangs that fell across his face sweeping to the left partially covering that eye. He had broad shoulders and from what she could see of his profile, high cheek bones, a straight nose and full lips. She quickly realized her mouth had dropped open and she was all but drooling over the handsome human being who had emerged from the vehicle. She watched as he and his driver conversed, it all seemed very formal until the driver suddenly hugged the boy with obvious deep affection. He must be more than his driver Jacque thought.Q: Upon reading this paragraph, what was your first reaction?

Ok.....holy canoly!!!!!! I freaking loved this book!
The book was fantastic. The pace was perfect. The language of Jen and her friends was realistic and hilarious. The secondary characters were just as fun and interesting, especially Sorin. I want good things for him b/ c he's loyal and has potential to be a yummy guy. And the main characters were fabulous. In truth, there were times when I wanted Jen to be a little more serious, but still, she was funny.
And Fane, Fane, Fane. I want you to claim me as your true mate. He was all my favorite things about guys wrapped into one. Protective, alpha male (literally), and loving.
I can't wait to pick up book 2 and hopefully read about their blood rites ceremony. And him putting his mark on her....AH!! Can't wait!

When i first saw this book, i had high expectations but it turns out, this book was a disappointment. On the first few pages i knew this book wasn't going to be good as i expected and turns out i was right. I had also read the summary of Prince of Wolves which also got me into reading this book and thought it would be really good.
Prince of Wolves is filled with action, romance and friendship. When a foreign exchange student moves next door. Jacque feels a connection and both Fane and Jacque are drawn to each other. Jacque discovers who she is and who Fane is. But when Fane encounters a pack in this town, things gets messy. The alpha in Coldspring tends to claim Jacque as her mate and since Fane and Jacque are soul mates, Fane will do whatever it takes to protect her and be with her. The Alpha of Coldspring, Lucas wants a challenge in fighting for Jacque as his mate.
I found all the characters pretty annoying. Jacque her self seemed to childish as well her two best friends, Jen and Sally. Their character description was ridiculous. As for Fane and Jacque, well their relationship was awkward, i mean i understand love at first sight but Jacque going on and backwards really irritated me. I mean first she says she not ready to be Fane's mate and the next, she say's she wants to make love. Seriously?
The dialogue was horribly written. It was all to colloquial-informal. I mean seriously like the words the character says such as "ya'll", "dat" and etc. seems too childish. The plot was cliched and was lacking execution. And how old are these girls meant to be? 17? Well because these teenagers seem mentally to be like 11 year old girls.
I was really close to putting this book down, i had no desire to keep reading but in the end i finished it, quick read really but annoying. It didn't really entertain me as i though it would of and the alternating of the characters between Fane and Jacque was annoying. Don't get me wrong, i've read books with the alternating of POV and loved them but this book was just horrible. Another thing i found annoying, was with the dialogue, the sarcasm put me off. I mean at times it was funny but it was overrated, it was forced, unrealistic and fake.
I don't get what others see in this book. A lot of people like this book but it wasn't one of the books i would ever revisit again. 1/5 rating. I will not be continue reading the sequels but beautiful cover :P

I have been wanting to read this book/series for a while now, but it’s really long. I decided to bite the bullet and just do it. I’m so glad I did, it’s was a rich full book with characters that are real, relatable and likable. Definitely a must read in my opinion. Now onto book two.

Goodreads. I trusted your ratings, and you betrayed me.
Apparently this "novel" is a "newly revised and edited version of Prince of Wolves."
HAH! Good joke! Either Goodreads has a sense of humour... or the term "edited" is used extremely loosely.

In my eyes, Quinn Loftis is a teacher. I wholeheartedly do not believe that anyone else could've given me a clearer lesson, on why we should not judge a book by it's cover.
To all my fellow kindred spirits, who were deceived into buying this book based on it's promising blurb or alluring cover, I say, rants like this help! They really do. Hallelujah!
For those that do not understand because they have not given this "novel" the time of day as of yet (sorry, I have to keep the inverted commas because I can not knowingly call this atrocity a novel), I will save you from needing to, because honestly your time will be spent better elsewhere. Trust me. Nara found out the hard way, and you've already read her rant.

So here she sat in her window, scoping out the neighbors house, with her lights turned off and blinds cracked just enough to see and to top off her “James Bond” experience, she even had binoculars! Now if she only had the nifty back ground music to go with her shenanigans.
There is something already outstandingly annoying about this description alone. I think it might be the exclamation mark, as the narrator already seems annoying, but not sure. Nevertheless, I keep going.
- Shortly after, the dialogue begins.
“Oooh, did you have the “Mission Impossible” sound track playing in the back ground cuz that would have been spy-tastic,” Jen said enthusiastically.
“Actually,” Jacque said distracted, “I was thinking more James Bond-ish, you know with the whole stake out thing…”
“No, huh-uh, that would be more like Dog the Bounty Hunter type stuff. But you couldn’t be Beth ‘cause you’re not stacked enough on top, so you would have to be baby Lisa the daughter….” Jen rattled on.
“You are so, so not comparing me to Dog the Bounty Hunter’s daughter right now and why are we talking about this anyway because it is sooooo NOT the point!” Jacque growled in frustration.

Scientifically, there are two natural reactions to such stimuli - fight or flight.
If you are currently immobilised with horror, or inversely, have reflexively thrown your unread copy of Prince Of Wolves into a furnace before it could lay eggs... you are not alone.
But staring at that great goodreads rating, I decide to try again.

At this point, Jacque proceeds to tell her friends that she heard a guy talk to her via telepathy. This is their reaction.
“I don’t think you are crazy, Jac, really you’re not. There has to be some sort of explanation. We’ll figure it out, we always do.”

Yes, that just happened. Not only does this "novel" have a truly idiotic and mind-bogglingly annoying narrator, the rest of the characters are also unrealistic, dumb asses. Underline it, put it in bold; Dumb asses! Now Testify!
To all those readers (who must be over 30) who think this book is absolutely great because it captures the 'true voice of teenagers'... you leave me speechless, in the most terrific sense. Italics were created for a purpose. Without them, the narrative appears to the reader as 'sooooooooooooooo' ditzy, and frankly, who is going to root for a character (in the fantasy world) who seems like they would be the first to die if put in the hunger games.
Just don't read this. HORCRUX ALERT!

No, no, no!
I was so excited for a Romanian character. And not just any character, but a werewolf. I tried not to cringe at his name, Fane. Quinn Loftis says Fane means prince. I ask her in what language because in Romanian, Fane is short for Stefan (Stephen). And it is mostly used for middle-aged men.
And why is the girl called Jacquelyn? Is she French?
How come she finds it so normal to hear voices? How come her friends just casually accept that? Take Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children for example. When Jacob first comes face to face with the supernatural, he questions his sanity. He even goes to the psychiatrist. But not Jacque. She calls a meeting with her friends and they think it normal. Seriously?! *sigh*
Oh, and let's talk about the Romanian used in the book.
"Meu doamna, acesta este un onoruri."
This is supposed to mean "my lady, it is an honor".
Well, it doesn't. It's more like "lady my, this is a honors" .
And this is just one example.
If you are not sure about the language, ask around. Romanians might read your book, too.
All in all, It is a mystery how this book has a 4.08 ratting.

"Nom Nom Nom Nom"
The book was about werewolfs and it had a great premise - Awesome! The book is free on Amazon - Double Awesome! The characters were annoying... errr, not so awesome.
Do not get scared, they weren't unbearable characters or anything, in fact, in the beginning I liked them a lot, Jaque and her friends were pretty cool and all of them had a unique sense of humor and very creative ways of talking. They would always have a smart-ass reply and they would also always find humor in the most dramatic-tense situations. And this was pretty fun - for the first half of the book. After that the jokes began to seem out of place and impertinent. With a final result of lame jokes:
By the end of the book all I wanted to do was slap them.
As for Fane, as much as I wanted to swoon over him, he was so cheesy that, honestly, he could've been a girl. All of his words and actions were meant to be romantic, but they really didn't work for me, he was trying too hard.
The only other downside of the book was that it was a bit... ridiculous at times. In a sort of that's-not-believable kind of way. For example Jaque can hear Fane's voice in her head from the moment she first sees him, and she immediately goes on to tell her best friends and they all believe her and just want details on what he says... I mean, I love my friends, but if one of them comes telling me something like this, I won't believe her and I'll think she's joking. Once she says she's not kidding I'll just tell her she's plain crazy until there's proof. And I know they'd do the same if it were me. Not to mention that I, personally, would not go telling them I hear voices. In the book, once they discover they're werewolfs and yada yada, they all just believe it. Like 'bitch please, I just took my unicorn out for a walk.' no big deal. This really didn't click with me :/
Good points: The fight for your mate theme, and the fight-till-the-dead at the end. Pretty intense and it really did manage to surprise me and get my heart racing. All in all, I doubt I'll be reading the next one.

I apologise in advance for the ranting that will be included in this review. Hell, the entire review is a rant. Not a good one either.
First, let's get this out of the way. This book is an absolute monstrosity. This book is probably the worst book I have ever read. This book is probably one of the worst books ever written. Books like this should not be allowed to exist. How I felt when I realised I had wasted good minutes of my life reading Prince of Wolves:
There are so many problems with this book, that honestly, it's hard to gather my thoughts enough to actually start this review, but here goes:
Dumbass friends
Sally finally spoke up. "I don't think you're crazy, Jac. Really, you're not. There has to be some sort of explanation. We'll figure it out, we always do."
Okay. So the genre of this book is urban fantasy, right? Hence, the characters in the novel don't know that fantastical beasts exist, much like in reality. Think to yourself, if one of your friends called you, asked you to come over, and then proceeded to tell you that they heard a voice in their head, what would your reaction be? Here's what mine would likely be:
Friend: I hear a voice in my head.
Me:......
Friend: I'm serious. I know you think I'm crazy, but I really do. It's that foreign exchange student who lives across the road.
Me: Have you been doing drugs?/Have you been getting enough sleep?/I know that work/school has been stressful lately etc. etc.
Here's what wouldn't happen:
Friend: I hear a voice in my head.
Me: Oh, that's perfectly reasonable, I'm sure there's an explanation for it.
The writing. All of it. Burn it. BURN.
I was reading a number of reviews on Goodreads, where the reviewers gush about how real the characters sound, how they sound exactly like teenagers. NO. Just no. As a teenager, I think I know how teenagers speak, and it certainly isn't like this:
"You are so, so not comparing me to Dog the Bounty Hunter's daughter right now and why are we talking about this anyway because it is sooooo NOT the point!"
Yep, that's the line exactly as it appears in Prince of Wolves, right down to the number of 'o's in so. Even if some teenagers (although I don't know what planet these teenagers would come from) do speak like that, it isn't the sort of language that should be included in a novel. I have no idea who the editor/proofreader was, but quite honestly, they're doing a rather poor job. The number of typing and grammatical errors in this book is phenomenal. I mean, I understand that this book was by an indie author, but have you never heard of spell check? Another thing that really annoyed me was that the writing didn't flow. Loftis rapidly changed the point of view in addition to backtracking, so we often got the same scene twice (once from Jacque's POV and once from Fane's). Jesus, the writing is bad enough without us having to revisit every goddamned scene twice.
And here are a few lines to show you why you should defenestrate your copy of Prince of Wolves:
Her last thought as she drifted off was of a full moon, whatever that meant.
Wow, whatever could the full moon mean? Why, Ms Loftis, is that your subtle attempt at hinting that there may be werewolves in this book?
Her long coffee-colored hair was striking against her mocha-colored skin.

"What the stink does that mean?"
Who says that?? What teenager would say that??
"I have a bad habit of mixing my native language with my English, I beg your pardon."
As if the love interest wasn't bland enough, now he has to be someone who speaks English perfectly well, yet feels like he has to show off his Romanian. And calls it a "bad habit".
"First impressions?" Jacque finally prompted.
"Oh, I don't know, maybe something like, OH MY, stutter, drool, FREAKING, pant, deep breathing, GOSH!" Jen spat.

So, if the above didn't convince you not to read Prince of Wolves, I cry for you.

Friend: I'm serious. I know you think I'm crazy, but I really do. It's that foreign exchange student who lives across the road.
Me: Have you been doing drugs?/Have you been getting enough sleep?/I know that work/school has been stressful lately etc. etc.
Here's what wouldn't happen:
Friend: I hear a voice in my head.
Me: Oh, that's perfectly reasonable, I'm sure there's an explanation for it.
The writing. All of it. Burn it. BURN.
I was reading a number of reviews on Goodreads, where the reviewers gush about how real the characters sound, how they sound exactly like teenagers. NO. Just no. As a teenager, I think I know how teenagers speak, and it certainly isn't like this:
"You are so, so not comparing me to Dog the Bounty Hunter's daughter right now and why are we talking about this anyway because it is sooooo NOT the point!"
Yep, that's the line exactly as it appears in Prince of Wolves, right down to the number of 'o's in so. Even if some teenagers (although I don't know what planet these teenagers would come from) do speak like that, it isn't the sort of language that should be included in a novel. I have no idea who the editor/proofreader was, but quite honestly, they're doing a rather poor job. The number of typing and grammatical errors in this book is phenomenal. I mean, I understand that this book was by an indie author, but have you never heard of spell check? Another thing that really annoyed me was that the writing didn't flow. Loftis rapidly changed the point of view in addition to backtracking, so we often got the same scene twice (once from Jacque's POV and once from Fane's). Jesus, the writing is bad enough without us having to revisit every goddamned scene twice.
And here are a few lines to show you why you should defenestrate your copy of Prince of Wolves:
Her last thought as she drifted off was of a full moon, whatever that meant.
Wow, whatever could the full moon mean? Why, Ms Loftis, is that your subtle attempt at hinting that there may be werewolves in this book?
Her long coffee-colored hair was striking against her mocha-colored skin.

"What the stink does that mean?"
Who says that?? What teenager would say that??
"I have a bad habit of mixing my native language with my English, I beg your pardon."
As if the love interest wasn't bland enough, now he has to be someone who speaks English perfectly well, yet feels like he has to show off his Romanian. And calls it a "bad habit".
"First impressions?" Jacque finally prompted.
"Oh, I don't know, maybe something like, OH MY, stutter, drool, FREAKING, pant, deep breathing, GOSH!" Jen spat.

So, if the above didn't convince you not to read Prince of Wolves, I cry for you.

Prince of Wolves by Quinn Loftis is the first book in the young adult paranormal fantasy The Grey Wolves series. The series is one that continues on from book to book and would be best enjoyed starting from the beginning and reading in order.
Jacque Pierce is a normal seventeen year old girl that likes hanging out with her best friends and of course cute boys. When Jacque notices she has a new neighbor approaching she can't help but check him out when she sees that it's a good looking boy around her age but what she least expected was to suddenly hear his voice in her mind. You see Fane is not a normal teenage boy but a werewolf prince and Jacque seems to be Fane's mate.
First, as if it's not obvious, this one is definitely one of those cases of insta-love which is quite the norm with werewolves. The story is also one that reads a little young feeling to me with the kind of cutesy teen interactions which can feel a bit off when your talking mates and things. On the other hand though the cutesy vibe also led to some funny moments which I did enjoy. I did wish the author had done a bit more to make the werewolf world building stand out a bit more as it all seemed a bit normal and focused more on the romance but overall this one was an ok read.

As a sixteen year old reading this book, I found it very difficult to connect with the characters of this book who are of similar age. The characterization was all too unrealistic. The unending snarky comments of Jacque made her seem excessive. Her sass was endearing at first, but it got overrated after the first quarter of the book. I also hated the extreme amount of informal and colloquial language used by the three girls. IT WAS OVERRATED. The whole time I was thinking, "Gosh, do we actually talk like this? O_O" I really wanted to punch this girl's face. Do seventeen year olds really have a hankering for hot chocolate during gossip time? Catch up with the times. Nowadays, we're drinking coffee or iced beverages of that sort. Hot chocolates are for little whining eleven year olds, which the characters probably are. One point for Quinn. Another thing to add to my frustration was the horrible, cheesy lines of Fane. I have NEVER heard or come across a seventeen year old refer to their significant other as "My Heart". And the hysterics and crying? Ughhhhh, I filled me with disgust.
The character Jen was, ugh I can't even explain anymore. I was THAT fed up with her. Honestly, an obstreperous girl her age who is just as dirty-minded as all the male jerk-wads at my school was beyond annoying. Besides the fact that she was obnoxious to the point of wanting to chuck a brick at her already demented brain, she has the audacity to make a constant torrent of innuendos in the presence of adults. I mean come on! Sure, we have those gal pals that say the most immature things around you but at least they have the decency to refrain around parents, teachers and adults. She has none!!! Not realistic. At. All. Clearly logic and reason has been lost here. For all I know, she was most probably dropped as a baby.
The pacing of the story was horrendous. It's like BOOM! "Please make love to me". Where's the sense of growth and development for Jacque and Fane, eh? And I don't like how these characters easily accept what's happening. Eg #1. Sally and Jen in the situation of their best friend hearing a voice in her head? Bitch please, she needs to check herself before she wrecks herself. Eg #2. Ridiculously good looking exchange student across the street turning into a wolf? Wouldn't you be scared at first before you go, "Mmmmm, yummy!". They accepted it as if it was nothing,"ah, Okay :)". GRRR
My anger over this book is fueled by the amount of unrealistic reactions and dialogue of the characters. I want my $0.99 and time back. The only thing good about this book is the sense of friendship and loyalty between friends, family and lover, but even that was spoiled from the nature of the characters.

This is really bad. Listening to this book has been literally painful. This is all stereotypes after stereotypes. After 75% of the book I couldn’t take any more, I had to stop.
The romance is cliché, too ridiculous to stand and over the top silly and cheese. But my biggest problem is that it is superficial. We have here not only instant-attraction, but instant-love too. There are no evidenced justifications for the characters to fell in love, their love is based on fantasy and preset destiny, there was no way I could connect to that.
The portrayal of the teenager girls here is incredibly disrespectful and annoying. Their behavior is a one-sided caricature of vapid girls whose only care in the world is obsessing about boys. Their conversations are all painfully trivial, and their personalities have no complexities or deepness. There is much more to teenage girls than being obsessed with boys, like for example the very basic need of getting more independence and control over their lives and figuring out who they are. Reducing all those possibilities to chasing boys is constricting, unrealistic and demeaning. I would have never being able to relate to these characters as a 17 year old girl, now, as a woman, I find them offensive, and vexing.
The portrayal of the teenage boy's mentality is very toxic. Fane, a 17 year old boy sees Jacque as his possession. He feels entitled to her, to her body and what she can show of it. This is not what love looks like. He is also, often and from the very beginning, jealous. I have a big problem with that because here that jealousy is glamorized as a form of love. When in reality, jealousy has nothing to do with love, it is actually emotional insecurity when we feel that something we consider ours is being threaten, is the feeling that someone might try to take what is yours. It is not love and it is not the show of someone's love for you. It is anti-productive in any relationship and I am passionately opposed to making it look as something desirable. It comes from possessiveness and insecurity, not love. The foundation of any healthy and happy relationship is trust and respect. A person struggling with jealousy is unable to trust the person they are with or show respect for them as an individual or their boundaries. It does not mean that some loves you, not even close.
Furthermore, Fane is said to be and Alpha and as such he is dominant and aggressive. Once again, here we have another writer that confuses aspects of the toxic-masculinity culture with being dominant. Well, the thing is that to be dominant does not mean you have to be aggressive. In fact, studies have shown that dominance sustained without aggressive behaviors is more stable than dominance formed on the basis of aggressive displays. One can establish dominance through many other methods like confidence, experienced, argumentation, respect, persuasion, age, etc., aggression is not necessary and this idea comes from the regressive idea of how a man should behave to be a real manly “man”. The funny thing is that despite Fane describing himself as aggressive, he never shows it (at least not on the part of the book I have read), it is all talk for the sake of this misguided toxic ideal.
Story-wise: Most of the conversations between the characters are absurd and everything that happens is cliché. Nevertheless, the biggest miss is that the conflict presented in the plot is driven by a weak and unreasonable motivation, which makes it not plausible enough to be relevant and sustainable.
The Audiobook: I have listen to several other audiobooks read by this narrator and generally, I like her. However, in this case, the voices that she makes for the teenager girls are very annoying, which only serves to make the girls even more aggravating that they already are. Jacque sounds like a brat most of the time, while Sally (Jacque’s friend) sounds like a 10 year old. But the worst is reserved for Jen (Jacque’s other friend) who sounds like a hag that smokes a thousand cigarettes a day, just HORRENDOUS.
To conclude I’ll just say that regarding romantic relationships between teenagers, I think this book is a terrible example, and could influence negatively and create unrealistic expectations on the minds of some impresionable teens that could lead to unhealthy relationships. Regarding everything else, this book is just plain bad, cheese and cliché.
It is not worth reading, there are many other books out there about werewolves for young adults that are, go read those and stay away from this.

I have to say that I was absolutely delighted when I began to read this book. At the time of purchase I had not heard anything about this book or about Quinn, but the title and cover just caught my eye. Needless to say, I fell in love with the book, the characters, and Quinn Loftis has become one of my most favorite authors. I love Jacque, Jen, and Sally, and the chemistry and humor that flows between them. I found myself laughing out loud numerous times, especially at Jen's snarky remarks. I love Quinn's take on the werewolves in this story, and the way she presents the whole werewolf concept. I have to say that I am now definitely "Team Fane," who by the way is Jacque's totally hot werewolf soul mate and he is completely "swoon worthy." It makes you want to say, as Jen would, "I want one," (Meaning a hot werewolf). Quinn is a very talented author and Prince of Wolves is one of those books you just don't want to put down. There was a great balance of humor, hot romance, action, and and suspense in this book. If you love young adult fiction (whether you are a young adult or not), I think you will be pleasantly surprised with Prince of Wolves.

I wish I could give this book 50 Stars!!!!
This books is the bees knees, the best thing since sliced bread, the bomb, whatever you want to call it, it was the best book. Now, it was light and fluffy and maybe not your thing, but I freakin loved it. Best.Book.Ever! There was not one thing I didn't love about this book (except now I have to wait until the end of November for the next one to come out).
It was only 99c from Amazon. It sounded good, but I have to admit I wasn't expecting awesome things from the first book from an author and for so cheap, but shame on me. I laughed on every page. The banter between the 3 best friends Jacque, Jen & Sally was a crackup. Those 3 had me giggling all the way through.
Alright alright, first I will tell you what it's about. Jacque lives in a small town Coldspring. She is on summer break trying to get a sneak peak at the new exchange kid moving in across the road. Enter Fane. Awwwww Fane. Fane is an Alpha and Prince of the biggest pack of Greys werewolves from Romania and just had the urge to visit Coldspring Texas. Upon arriving at his hosts he felt the thoughts of Jacque across the street and knew that only their one true mate could hear the thoughts of the other and vice versa. When he spoke to her telepathically she thought she was hearing voices and was crazy. Anyhoo, eventually they meet properly and she finds out who he is and that werewolves exist and that she has a lifelong mate in Fane and felt their connection immediately but not so much she wasn't going to make him work for it. She is not one to roll over and make things easy for him to boss her about. Things get tricky when Fane finds out that another Grey wolf has claimed Jacque (unbeknown to her) as his mate and challenged him to a fight to the death for her. Female cannis lupis (or a halfbreed in Jacques case) is 30 male to 1 female so they are in high demand. Wolves will go centuries before meeting their mate and aren't above tying to pinch anothers mate before the bonding ceremony and blood rites have taken place. All through this story is the unconditional friendship between the 3 girls. They are so funny and loyal. Jen is crude and has no filter, Sally is a little quieter and Jacque lives through a haze of sarcasm. They are hilarious.
Enough of my rambling, go get this book! I loved it so much I am going to email the author and tell her so, the first time I have ever done so. This book was light and fluffy and romantic and funny. The perfect portion of everything I love!!!!!! Bring on 30th November for "Blood Rites"...

I definitely flew through this audio!
Prince of Wolves was one of those audios where I lost all track of time. I pushed the play button.. and then realized I was already half-way through it! After it ended, it was a pretty cute book but I did find somethings annoying (like the MC).
In the beginning, I liked Jacque but throughout the book she had these "tantrums". She would call them her 2 year old tantrums.. and I would automatically roll my eyes. Now why is a 17 year old have tantrums.. no fucking clue and I really wanted that to stop. Besides her, she has her two best friends: Sally and Jen. Now those two I automatically loved. Throughout the book, their friendship was what kept me from hating Jacque.
Then there's Fane, now he was delicious. He definitely makes me want to date someone with a sexy ass accent now because hot damn, he could read like instructions on how to build something and I would love it. Their chemistry was interesting in the beginning. Then it just became an acceptance that she was his mate and then there was this little dominance battle thing. It was weird that they were fighting over her to be their mate.. but hey, whatever floats their boat - right?
In the end, I honestly had no idea what was happening. I wanted one person to die but it was looking like someone else might die and I was freaking out. After the ending, I was happy with how it turned out. If the second book turns out to be an audio, I will definitely dive into it!

The Grey Wolves Series, can be described in two word-heart stopping. Author, Quinn Loftis manages to pain a picture depicting a world that lives beneath our very own. One ruled by Wolves, where Alphas are the absolute power and love is so strong it can kill and preserve the species. In the first installment we are introduced to a quirky average teenager by the name of Jacque Pierce and her two partners in crime Jennifer Adams and Sally Morgan. After being told she had enough wolf blood in her system to be considered a member of the pack things heat up between Jen and Decebel leaving readers screaming at there books and kindles begging for the romantic rendezvous we all see coming a mile away. Just as there relationship seems to be forming there Alpha informs the Romanian Wolves they are to attend a gathering for unmated males and females to ensure the continuation of there race. While sexy and sassy Jen toes the line with Decebel’s heart, a plan to overthrow the Romanian Alpha is set in motion and all is not what it seems.
Loftis captures your mind and imagination and shows us a world that we all secretly wish could exist, I mean who doesn’t want to know there are some hot werewolves out there looking for someone to call there mate? With heart pounding action scenes, beautiful character development and comical moments to break the ice she shows an improvement in her writing and enthralls fans young and old. With a pinch of action a dash of blood and a whole lot of romance and sexy werewolves you have the recipe for the perfect Paranormal Romance Novel.
Now I have to sit here and wait, dreaming eagerly of her next book Out of The Dark.

The long awaited Third book to the series, Just One Drop tells the story of Jennifer Adams and her struggles with tall dark and handsome Decebel, Beta wolf to the Romanian pack. After being told she had enough wolf blood in her system to be considered a member of the pack things heat up between Jen and Decebel leaving readers screaming at there books and kindles begging for the romantic rendezvous we all see coming a mile away. Just as there relationship seems to be forming there Alpha informs the Romanian Wolves they are to attend a gathering for unmated males and females to ensure the continuation of there race. While sexy and sassy Jen toes the line with Decebel’s heart, a plan to overthrow the Romanian Alpha is set in motion and all is not what it seems.
Loftis captures your mind and imagination and shows us a world that we all secretly wish could exist, I mean who doesn’t want to know there are some hot werewolves out there looking for someone to call there mate? With heart pounding action scenes, beautiful character development and comical moments to break the ice she shows an improvement in her writing and enthralls fans young and old. With a pinch of action a dash of blood and a whole lot of romance and sexy werewolves you have the recipe for the perfect Paranormal Romance Novel.
Now I have to sit here and wait, dreaming eagerly of her next book Out of The Dark.

I really thought this was going to be a good book, seeing how the summary was so interesting and people have been rating it pretty high. I'm not sure why. The plot had promise. I thought this book was going to have some intense romantic scenes (not as in sex, but as in chemistry) and some real action. Again, I was wrong.
I thought the characters in this book were BEYOND annoying. I didn't care of Jacque. I usually love fiesty characters with a temper and a sarcastic sense of humor. But she was just TOO MUCH, to the point where every other line was a sarcastic remark. She tries to hard to be funny.
And if Jacque is not bad enough, her two gossipy friends are worse, a bunch of squealing, bubblehead idiots, especially Jen. I know her character is made to be the one "who doesn't know when to shut her mouth," but she really just wears me out.
The book uses too many sayings and catch phrases, and a lot of times, the characters are using them wrong on purpose. And there were too many uses of dog-related phrases. A couple of times is cute and clever. Throw in too many and you're just trying to hard. How many times do they need to say "throw me a bone?"
I think the relationships between Jacque and Fane was too weird. I understand the love at first sight concept and the soulmates concept, but Jacque going back and forth really put me off. One minute, she's I'm not ready to be your mate, the next minute she's telling him she loves him in three days and wanting him to make love to her in less than a week. And she doesn't like PDA when he kisses her in front of everyone, yet he wants a very intimate part of bonding happen in front of her two girlfriends. How weird is that!
I think the author tried to hard to make her characters witty and funny. I think if it had about 3/4 less of the trying, I might have really been able to enjoy the book. But it was too much, and it just ended up being really annoying to read.

This is my favorite series ever! I have read this twice already and could read it again.
Jacque is this ordinary girl that lives with her mother. She has two of the best friends ever, Sally and Jennifer. When a transfer student from Romania, Fane, moves in across the street, Jacque's world as she knows it is about to change. Fane is her mate, and better yet he is a prince! Better yet, he is not only a prince but a huge hunk of hotness werewolf. This story only gets better from here on and this is just the beginning. I loved this book, not only because of the story but the relationships between Jacque and her friends but the relationship between Jacque and Fane. Jacque and Fane go through many hardships to be together, and fight they do. I guarantee that you will love this book and will be excited to read the next book, Just One Drop. I know I was. I will read anything Quinn writes, even if it's not the Prince of Wolves series. She has great talent of making you laugh, cry and sigh throughout the book. I know she can make you do that with any story she writes. Quinn is definitely my number one favorite author. Enjoy!

So, I know some people often rate books based on how realistic the characters and/or the dialogue is and this series may seem a bit far-fetched at first glance. However, the dialogue (however true or untrue it may be to how teens communicate) made this book and the series! I was laughing out loud the entire time and I absolutely loved every single exchange between all the characters. I've already read the other two books in this series (I read them all in about 2 days since I enjoyed this one so much) and I can't wait for more.

Well I began this book because it was recommended to me...and it was free.
However I was unfortunately unable to get past the half way mark, now I really am a very patient reader and have got through some ludicrously cheesy plots/bad writing in the past (ahem Cassandra Clare.) Maybe this book was just not for me...or it got me on the wrong day, or maybe I should have given it another chance? Or maybe at twenty five years of age I am far to old to be reading this boring drivel.
When does this get good...?
Things wrong with this book:
Although the book started of in a vaguely amusing tone, with our heroine Jacque and a pair of binoculars stalking her neighbour's new overseas student, (CLICHE ALERT #1, I mean seriously...tall dark and handsome arrives right next door...BOKE. He arrives in a limo for fucks sake).
I was instantly hit with far too much info dumping...The main problem I have with this is, as well as being boring, they assume that as a reader we do not have the intellect to pick things up or work them out naturally as the story unfolds. Rather Loftis feels like she has to spell everything out to us, I know this is aimed for teens but most hormone ridden spot pickers are studying Hardy FFS! It also takes away any intrigue.
The unsubtle hints were just unbearable...like Ooooow Jacque's mother has weird feelings that sometimes turn out to be true, and sometimes Jacque can just tell from looking at somebody how they feel. Like for instance, if she is looking at their face and they are biting their bottom lip then she can tell that maybe they are worried or sad (or horny,) with out any words she just knows...(Anyway CLICHE ALERT #2 MC has mystery power of unknown limits. Do I give a flying fuck? No.)
As a personal taste I dislike this overly subjective, (and limited) third person narration. We are told in detail how Jacque feels about everything, I instantly felt uncomfortable at the awkward view point and began to wonder why not just narrate this in first person instead??? Aaaah...you also wish to give us Fane's POV well thanks for that little gem, but actually lets just forget his inane thoughts next time please? It just felt very unnatural.
"...Just a few hours ago I was just another 17 year-old getting ready to start my senior year, so normal she thought."
I beg your pardon? Maybe it is just badly edited but this is awkward writing on too many levels to even bother with.
So the story goes that Jacques new neighbour speaks to her in her head, and she just accepts this, she doesn't freak out and think she's going crazy or hide her spooky secret to find out some more info. Nope. She calls her pals and they conveniently believe her, and then conveniently appear in like seconds for a convenient sleepover. None of them really wonder WTF is going on, they are just like 'yeah he is such a hottie, lets get dressed and bring him southern food y'all and then we can discover why he is talking to you in you head.'
Well, that is not believable. If you want to write good fantasy or whatever you have to make the natural human reactions to the supernatural believable over wise it all becomes unconvincing and boring.
Fane's thoughts were even worse. The thoughts he has are enraging. Firstly why really has he done this exchange, he is a werewolf from Romania (UGH CLICHE ALERT #3), would you allow your werewolf son to do this? No, because there are too many risks, I don't mean motorbike risky but more like people discovering the werewolf secret risky.
And yes he likes motorbikes, because he is a bad boy (CLICHE ALERT #4 'wannabe badboy') werewolf prince with tattoos. riiiight...
His inner monoglogues made furious rather than symapthetic...sympathetic made me think of the word pathetic which is a word that describes him quite well...AND THE THOUGHT HE SENDS HER??? GAH. 'At last my Jacquelyn', (CLICHE ALERT #5 THE DREADED INSTALOVE IS HERE) I mean seriously he is a teen boy right? So what does he mean at last? Really, how long has he been waiting?
Then there was just more info dumping...and then some really awkward conversations:
'"You must be tired from your long trip so why don't we show you your room and let you get settled for the night. If you are hungry, I can show you the kitchen and you are welcome to help your self to anything you find." Mrs. Henry stated.'
Stated? Really? Stated?! Just stick with 'said' for now ok? This is how people in those tapes you get teaching you English speak, not normal people welcoming a kid into their home. I thought Fane was foreign not her?
Then there was some more info dumping, and then there was the worst thing, just the worst thing:
'"Multumesc," he stated formally in his native tongue..."
Just fuuck off, ok? This is annoying and becomes even more so when he says he 'just forgets' sometimes and slips back into Romanian, but he is being formal and speaking to someone he has just met... So did he really forget, or is he just a pretentious twat??? It gets worse when the author puts a bracket beside the Romanian word for us silly dumb readers. For example:
"Good morning doemnelor (lady's), my name is Fane Lupei..."
I obviously wondered if Fane had actually said the English word 'lady's' in the bracket, and also why there was an apostrophe??? BUT then about a paragraph lower Lilly (sidetrack: Lilly is Jacque's mother who...you guessed it...is often absent CLICHE ALERT #6, absent parentals) asks Fane what 'doemnelor' means and he told her it meant ladies. So what the hell was the point in putting it in brackets in his speech. Give us some fucking credit Quinn Loftis, we can see you have worked out how to use google translate and that makes you very smart but there is no need to treat us like this.

OK I loved the story. I really got into it, but the dialogue was really annoying sometimes, and corny. I got so tired of Jacque and her friend's comments. I think it sounds like the characters are trying too hard to be funny. Sarcasm is funny in small doses, but it seemed like every conversation Jacque had to make a sarcastic comment, and she came off sounding kind of snotty. She didn't seem mature enough for Fane. I kept cringing when Fane's father, the ALPHA, was explaining things and Jacque's friends would make stupid little comments. Ugh, could they not keep their mouths shut and show some respect for like 5 minutes. It just got so annoying. Everyone acted like the girls were funny but I think a true Alpha would have had enough and put them in their place by making them shut up. (I wish he would have. It got to the point where I started skimming the words when Jen or Sally spoke.) Also, it didn't seem very realistic that a werewolf prince would take so much crap from some human girls and their big mouths.
I really liked Fane. He was easy to fall in love with. I just didn't see what he liked about Jacque. I realize she was his mate or whatever, but Jacque, as a person, was so annoying. I know he needed someone strong as his mate, but being sarcastic and having a temper is not the same as being strong. Her fits were more like a toddlers or a spoiled teenagers rather than a mature 17 year old, who was about to start training to become a female Alpha of the largest werewolf pack in the world. Which brings me to another thing, I don't like that she was just a human. I think it would have been cooler if once she found her mate and did the whole bonding ceremony and blood rites thing, that triggered the dormant wolf inside of her or something like that. I just think she should be a wolf too. Of course I haven't read the next book, which I think is the bonding ceremony and blood rites, but they already told her that she will not be a wolf. Thats stupid.
I was sort of surprised that her mother did not play a bigger role. It seemed like in all these conversations they had in the living room about life changing events that were about to take place, her mother would have had more to say. Her mother barely talked at all. Being a mother she should have been asking questions and letting her opinion be known. Trying to reason with her daughter when she would go into one of her childish fits. But she was very silent. It was weird.

This was a good paranormal high school romance. I liked it, but the heroine and her friends seemed a bit bratty. It's probably more realistic to how teenage girls act, however I prefer the more mature characters. The hero is a 17 year old werewolf and I enjoyed is character. He seemed more mature. He was also pretty protective of the heroine with a few j/p moments. This has a HFN ending so you could stop at book one if you prefer.

When I saw the description of this book I was excited to read it. I will say I liked the story and it's idea. However, I didn't like the dialogue. I found that while some of the conversations were alright and realistic, others just left me thinking: Does anyone actually sound like this? My whole problem with this book was that I found it overly detailed in places that didn't really matter and that the dialogue was not doing it for me. Other than that it was an alright book. It's just that when I am reading a book I imagine what the characters voices would sound like in my head. So when I was reading this the characters sometimes sounded whiny, fake and sometimes annoying.
They explained every little action in great detail and it sometimes got really annoying. For example:
Jacque got a pan and put the rolls on it in straight rows; her mom had already pre-heated the
oven so she just put them in and set the timer for 7 minutes which is what the package directions
said. As her mom was stepping out of the room to call the Henrys she caught the briefest hint of
worry coming off her mom in subtle waves. It had been a while since she had picked anything up
from her mom so it kind of made her take a step back. I wonder what she is worried about?
See? If she would have changed a few of the words and used contraction then it would have sounded more like a teenager and much more believable in my opinion. For instance, the last line says: I wonder what she is worried about?
Wouldn't it sound better if it read: I wonder what she's worried about.
See the difference an ' and a period can do? To me that shouldn't have been a question but a statement. Also, the punctuation and grammar in this wasn't really well done. See the difference an ' and a period can do? To me that shouldn't have been a question but a statement. Also, the punctuation and grammar in this wasn't really well done. I found many mistakes that could have been fixed or avoided all together since they were pretty obvious. I was actually disapppointed.

I absolutely LOVE Fane and Jacque together!!!!!
Fane is a hot dominant Grey wolf from the Romanian pack. He decided to go to a different school for senior year as a foreign exchange student. He didn't know why he picked a high school in Coldspring, Texas. Just as Fane got out of his limo, to his host family's house, he heard a voice in his head. A female voice. The only thing that made sense was that he had a mate and his mate was near by. When he looked around he only saw green eyes looking from the window and a name, Jacque, said.
Jacque Pierce is starting senior year in high school. Jacque found out a new foreign exchange student was moving right in front of her house. She needed to know who it was, if it was a he or a she, & if he was hot or not. When a limo pulled up by the house she knew something was strange and when the he looked straight into her eyes it only got stranger. Then Jacque heard a voice in her head, a male voice, everything got extremely strange. She told Sally and Jen, her awesome best friends, about the guy who moved in. Sally and Jen were determined to meet the new foreign exchange student because they needed to see how hot he was for themselves.
The next fine morning Jacque, Sally, Jen, and Jacque's mother went to the Henery's where Fane stayed for the school year. When Fane looked out the window, he knew who Jacque was in one second because of her amazing green eyes. Jacque was feeling a little weird and kinda wanted to leave. When someone opened the door, Jacque's eyes met with Fane's in just a second.
This series is one of my favorite. I couldn't even put the book down. I LOVE Sally and Jen and how they both love Jacque. Fane is AMAZING in so many ways. Lastly, I Love how Fane is so protective of Jacque.

Goodness! That was just so freaking hilarious!
The book was perfect. The sloppy romance and the drama was slightly disturbing but Quinn Loftis' sense of humor almost covered everything. I laughed every freaking minute!!! Not to mention that Fane and Jacquelyn were awesome, Sally and Jen just made it holy amazing :)
What made me fall in love with POW:
Fane, Fane and Fane. Hottest, yummiest, heartbreaking werewolf. If he wasn't Jacque's true mate I'd have eaten him alive. Yeah, as Jen would have said "That ball of fur pees on everything he wants to mark as his and he's a real caveman!" But still, oh, I love his Romanian guts!
Anyone who hated and couldn't find a nice werewolf book just read it or die and regret it. It was an awesome read. Thanks a lot Quinn Loftis!

I loved this book, it's these kind of books that make me wish I could live in a world where werewolves and other creatures existed, Fane is the perfect example of an awesome caring maybe a little over protective but still awesome boyfriend. I loved Jaqualyns character and her 2 best friends. JEN was hilarious!! All 3 of the girls were. Can't wait to get started on the second book.

How in heaven does this have a 4+ rating?

I'm giving this book two stars instead of the single one it deserves because it lands solidly in "so bad it's good" territory. Bad enough that I kept reading because I enjoyed making fun of it. Probably not a reason why an author wants an extra star for but so be it, she should've written a better book.
And oh my God, Prince of Wolves is ever so awful--laughably awful. I read the entire thing giggling all the way but rest assured, I was laughing at it, not with it.
I fell in love with the premise as soon as I read the summary, as love stories wrapped in possessive, obsessive mating behavior are an instant hook for me, and within seconds I was on Amazon to download. I started reading the same night and within a page knew the book was in trouble: terrible writing, paper thin characters, and cringe-worthy dialogue, the perfect example of why authors need to read their work out loud. Loftis would've realized how terrible it was and perhaps corrected herself, and I wish someone made her spend some time around actual teenagers so she'd write how they really talk, not this nonsensical presentation. I'm not much younger than Quinn Loftis but still recognize their speech as missing the mark by not just miles but entire universes. There's no sense of urgency as you read, character reactions to events are completely unrealistic (they don't even blink when the whole "werewolf" thing comes to light), none of the characters display any consistency, the writing itself is downright embarrassing, and did I mention that the dialogue is really bad?
Note to the author: if you have to tell me at least once per chapter that your characters are soooo sarcastic, then your characters aren't sarcastic. Stop telling me and give me good, snarky dialogue that doesn't sound forced and falls flat. Better yet, just give me dialogue that doesn't suck.
The need for a copy editor made me twitchy. As my gift to the author, I'll start her on the path to better writing with this little tip: 's is possessive while a simple s on the end signals multiples. So if you're referring to more than one Grey then it would be Greys, not Grey's. And if a Grey owns something, then it's Grey's, not Greys. Got it? For fuck's sake.
Overall I'm so disappointed with this novel, Loftis started with a fabulous plot and completely jacked it up. I'm sad for her and thankful this was free to download.

Prince of Wolves is about soulmates and fated love. If you happen to be a hopeless romantic who loves the idea of finding your one and true mate, then this is the book for you. This is actually a large ebook being 1000+ pages on Nook but I was so invested in the story and characters that I read it in a day and a half. Jaque is a girl in a small town that is spying on the new foreign exchange student that is moving in across the street. As soon as he arrives, Fane is immediately drawn to Jaque and can send thoughts to her. Jaque actually thinks she is having a mental breakdown but soon recongnizes the mental voice as Fane's. Fane is a foreign exchange student from Romania where he is next in line to be Alpha of the biggest pack of Grey werewolves in the world. He is drawn inexplicably to the small town and finds Jaque his one true mate.
Ms. Loftis has a great new voice in writing paranormal romance. I loved the interaction between Jaque and her two BFF's, Sally and Jen. The quips fly as well as the sarcastic wit. I laughed outloud several times at Jen and Jaque's outrageous personalities. I loved the fact that Jaque didn't swoon and just bend to the fate that was handed to her. Jaque is a spitfire and enjoys putting Fane in his place. Fane loves Jaque's spunk and the fact that she isn't afraid to speak her mind. The chemistry is awesome.
Fane was very careful when he choose his exhange town so that he wouldn't encroach on another pack's territory but apparently there is an unregistered grey pack in town. Since the ratio of Alpha Females is 1 to 30, Lucas, the local Alpha is trying to claim Jaque for himself. Lucas challenges Fane in a fight to the death. The action is great and the emotional turmoil for Jaque is easily identifiable to the reader. This book had the same feel of "Jessica guide to dating the dark side" being that Lucias and Fane are both princes from Romainia and come to find their soulmates. But Prince of Wolves develops a quicker romantic tie between Fane and Jaque because they are able to share thoughts and are immediately attracted to each other. I loved this book and consider it a great independent find. I am hoping for a follow up that includes the bonding ceremony and Jaque's life in Romania.

The Grey Wolves Series is giving me a KINDLE HANGOVER. Eyes are bloodshot in the morning...all worth it though.
If only I could pick the lottery with the same luck I have with books thus far.
This book brought sexy back for the werewolves. I just loved reading about Jacquelyn, Fane and the other characters that were plain funny. Jackelyn's girlfriends; Jennifer and Sally made me feel like I was back in Brooklyn with their sassy and witty self. Loyal friends that had their girls back.
At first it took me awhile to get use to the authors style of viewing Fane and Jacquelyn intake of a situation. So you would sort of read it twice but in the characters perception. I now enjoy this style.
Fane a foreign exchange student from Romania has found his mate the one true love that completes him and can tame the wolf in him. Jacque is half werewolf and once she sees Fane she realizes that her life will be forever changed. He starts speaking to her in her mind and starts getting some marks on her back. (Yeah! I can see an incy wincy bit why she thought things would be different LOL)
Fane thought he was the only Grey in Texas until he meets a certain salesman. His Alpha wanted Fane to leave and to understand that Jacque was already spoken for...she was to be the Alpha's mate.
Fane who is the son of the strongest Alpha known to their species has no desire to give up his rightful mate and will fight to his death to prove it.

Ich bin total begeistert! Ich musste mich zwar erst an den Schreibstil gewöhnen und ein paar Sachen gingen mir zwar auch zu schnell, die Reihe besteht aber auch aus 9 Bänden, trotzdem war es einfach nur eine schöne, süße und spannende Geschichte. Ich mag solche Storys sehr gerne. Gestaltwandler und Seelenverwandte, hach. :))
Wieso hat man bisher nur den ersten Teil ins Deutsche übersetzt?! So schade! Ich mag so gerne weiterlesen, auch wenn man den ersten Teil für in sich abgeschlossen sehen kann ... ich will trotzdem wissen, wie es weitergeht.
Jacque und Fane (ein rumänischer Werwolf-Prinz *hot*) sind so süß. Ich mochte alle Protas sehr gerne. Jacque und vor allem Jen haben so einen geilen Humor. Der Hammer! Ich hab schon lange nicht mehr so oft bei einer Geschichte gelacht. Die drei Freundinnen sind so sympathisch, jeder auf seine Art & Weise was besonderes, sie sind einfach tolle Freundinnen füreinander. Dieses Buch muss viel bekannter werden.

Ich lass aber noch ein bisschen Luft für nach oben, daher vergebe ich 4,5 Sterne.
