Callum Ormond (15, ik-figuur) heeft een flinke serie gewelddadige figuren achter zich aan, die net zo begerig zijn naar het familiegeheim als hij. Ze stelen ook nog zijn identiteit. Vanaf ca. 12 jaar.

Gabrielle Craig Lord is an Australian writer who has been described as Australia's first lady of crime.

She survived being ‘razed’ by the nuns, acquired an education despite this, and after working in many different areas, sales, teaching, brick-cleaning, peach-picking and packing, and in the Public Service as an employment officer, started writing seriously aged 30.

Her first two manuscripts ended up composting the tomatoes at her market garden – another attempt to make a living – but the third one FORTRESS was picked up internationally and made into a feature film starring Rachel Ward. A later novel WHIPPING BOY was made into a telemovie starring Sigrid Thornton. The film rights money, coinciding with her daughter leaving school, allowed Gabrielle to resign and instead of getting up at 4.30am and writing for several hours before heading off for work, she could write full-time and lead a more ‘normal’ writer’s life – hanging around with scientists and detectives, badgering forensic anthropologists (she studied some Anatomy at Sydney university) and doing work experience with a busy private security business and of course, writing.

Research is everything, she says. ‘Out of my contacts with experts (who are always far too modest to describe themselves that way) I get not only the fine-tuning necessary for today’s savvy readers, but also wonderful incidents and images that enrich and enlarge my books.’

Gabrielle’s interests are very simple. ‘After a misspent youth, I don’t have many brain cells left so I enjoy walking, meditation, singing, gardening, chatting with close friends, being with my family and grandkids, feeding my goldfish and keeping up to date with bodywork and enlightened psychotherapy.’

Gabrielle has now written fourteen adult novels and a novel for young adults. Once the 12 books of Conspiracy 365 are completed, this tally will be a tad bigger! Following this mammoth endeavour she already has plans for another three adult novels and two more YAs.

Conspiracy 365: May is another jam-packed book of action and adventure staring Cal Ormond. Unfortunately for Cal, he is stuck in a mental institution for about half of the book. I got very frustrated with Dr. Snudgeglasser and his inability to believe Cal about his identity. Sligo had done a good job of changing Cal's identity and convincing the doctor that Cal has something he wants. When Cal was captured after escaping the first time, I was frustrated and disappointed. I really wanted Cal to escape from the mental hospital.

Gabrielle Lord caused me to become quite anxious for Cal during the time he was locked up in the asylum. This is what a good writer does. She draws the reader in, gets them highly involved in the story, form a bond between the reader and the main character, and creates an atmosphere wherein the reader feels a great amount of emotion when things don't go the right way for the main character. Gabrielle Lord is a writer that does this with precision.

As Cal gathers more information about the Ormond Riddle, some of the puzzle pieces start to fit together. Yet, even with the extra information, he is nowhere close to solving the mystery. At least he is able to figure out how Oriana de la Force's men have always been able to track him down. Maybe now he can do some research without always being on the run.

The first five books in the twelve book Conspiracy 365 series by Gabrielle Lord are wonderful. Young readers don't have to wait long for the next book to be published because one comes out every month until the series ends in December. The storyline is very exciting and young readers, especially boys, will find themselves engrossed in this story about an Australian boy on the run for his life.

Overall, Conspiracy 365: May is another great story with a lot of action that kept me reading until I finished the book. I started the book on a Friday night, woke up Saturday morning, and read the rest of it until I reached the final page, which is another cliffhanger. I just couldn't put the book down. It is a real page-turner. I cannot wait to see how Cal gets out of his latest situation in Conspiracy 365: June.

I rated this book an 8½ out of 10.

On the 1st of May Cal is stuck in Leechwood Lodge Assylum because of Sligo creating a false ID under the name of Ben Gallaway and that Ben Gallaway has stolen The Documents that belong to Ben. But Sligo says otherwise. When Cal gets his first chance he takes but doesn't even get out of the door after he is chased down by the door guard, this puts him into a straightjacket. Finally after 3 days Cal's friends arrive to try to get him out. They give him different clothes and walk straight out the front door, then they bolt down the street and they escaped. They then figure out that Cal has to go see his Great-Uncle Barthalomew. He leaves the city on the 21st of May, when he arrives in 'Kilkenny' he is greeted with the barrel of a shotgun. When the first shot rings out he leaps for safety and tries to tell his Uncle that he is his nephew. After there were no more shots Cal comes out from behind the bush and his uncle let him into the house. His uncle was very unhappy with the interference with his radio and that night when they go to check The Ormond Orca, a jet handmade by his uncle, he is told about how it is checked every night so that if he is to make a quick escape he can make it easily. That night Cal shows his uncle all of his injuries. His uncle was looking at his shoulder when he said that there was a transmitter inside his shoulder, this was bad news for Cal and his Uncle as they were being tracked. To get rid of this his uncle runs downstairs and pushes it into a block of mince, then feeds it to a magpie, the magpie flies off and problem solved.

1 - read in order,
2 - there is a reminder of what happened last month at the beginning,
3 - fast-paced,
4 - ends in the middle of something exciting going on. You will want to jump from one Book right into the next.

Seems similar to 39 Clues though I think (if I remember right) that the kids were younger in that book. This one is better because it is all written by the same author. 39 Clues began to feel like it wasn’t thought out much ahead of time because of the authors thing. I never finished it because I started reading before all the books had been published...

Some unavoidable spoilers for previous books of the
Conspiracy 365 series may be contained in this review.

Wow, what a breath of fresh air May turned out to be. After a rather irritating start it smoothed out and slowly developed into the best installment of this series so far. We get answers. Finally! Real answers that solve some of the mysteries and don't open more and more lines of investigation. Plus, there is no over-dramatized, completely improbable drama - well, maybe one scene of it but hey, its a start right? This here is what we were looking for and I hope that the series continues on the good streak its reached.

At the end of April, Cal was thrown into a loony bin. Under an alias of Ben with no idea how he got there and no-one to believe his somewhat crazy story, he is trapped in Leechwood Lodge Asylum. Will he get out before he is caught? Well, you'll have to read it to find that out but Cal is faced with a hell of a lot more than crazy shrinks in this.

May managed to be everything that I hoped this series could be. It wasn't action-packed but was eventful and had enough twists and turns and mysterious and clue-solving that I was kept engaged for the entire book.

Cal wasn't his usual irritable character, he acted more maturely and with more thought and reason before acting. The other new characters were far better than what I have come to expect. They actually had a personality. They weren't the flat, two-dimensional characters that I had come to tolerate. I have to say that I didn't miss Boges at all. I felt that his absent worked though normally I would be rooting for his appearance since usually Cal's characters is more friendly and just generally nicer in Boges' presence.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with this installment in the Conspiracy 365 series and would say that for previous readers of the series that I would definitely recommend to try and hold though to May if you were as desperate for answers as I was because we finally get them. I am looking forward to reading June and I hope that this good "streak" lasts for the rest of the series.

Conspiracy 365 May by Gabrielle Lord is about a boy named Cal was trapped in an insane asylum for weeks. He was given a fake name Ben Galloway. When he was visited by hos two friends named Boges and Winter they had a plan to break Cal out. They were successful and Cal went to visit his Great-Uncle Bartholomew. He was tracked down by one of his enemies and had to escape. When he was trying to escape his Great-Uncle died. He took his Great-Uncles plane and crashed.

This book was a really great book. It had lots of action and interesting paragraphs. It had quite a few characters most of them had an important role in the book.

I would rate this book a 8.5 out of 10. If you like action filled books this book is for you. Also if you like the series.

Ah, the old dress-in-drag switcheroo. Nice job, Boges & Winter.
God bless Melba Snipe! I bet she's Repro's mom.

Another "rest" and recover one. I was just glad that Melba and Bartholomew were nice to Cal and took care of him.
SO sad that Bartholomew died though. I TOTALLY did not connect that he was bugged until the mention of radio interference. If this were a movie, I would have caught it instantly. Once he saw the newspaper clipping, it confirmed that he IS a twin, also revealed that his mom and Bart KNEW about it; so why haven't they told Cal? Do they think the twin is dead? Truly amazing that he did not die after crashing the plane.

In May, Cal starts off in a metal institution because of mortal enemy Vulkan Sligo. Vulkan wants documents from Cal that he owns from is father Tom Ormand. Cal manages to escape from the institution by his best friend Boges and Vulkan's associate Winter Frey. Throughout the book, Cal manages to find bits and peaces of the secrets from the documents. The theme of this book is mystery and suspicion. I would recommend this book to Tyler Simmons because he likes mystery books.

The series still hasn't failed to excite me at any point in the series. A great storyline of a wrongly accused fugitive that has been setup by two criminal gangs trying to silence controversial information Callum Ormond's dad found on a trip to Ireland. Cal as he goes by, is trying to figure out the discovery that his dad made, from clues his dad left while under a strange sickness that restricted his brain from working normally. Can he find out? Find out! :p

Book 5 in the series was almost relaxing compared to the first 4. For once Cal was not in fear of his life on every page, mostly because for a good part of the book he was actually in a fairly safe place albeit a prisoner.
The clues to the Ormond Riddle keep coming in and more information about the family history, but we don't feel much closer to solving anything.
Another month gone by and another great page turner of a book.

Such a coincidence that the exciting cliffhanger happens on the last day of the month at midnight! (I'm joking of course, I really like the books and the cliffhangers are great.)
Binging through this series!

It is a fun series to read. In this book there was a hint to a future twist. I'll have to read more books to see if I guessed correctly on what the twist is.

There was a lot revealed in this story, but still a lot to learn. Five months into the year and there are more and more stories to work out for Cal. June is not gonna get here fast enough.
