Tara
Tall, beautiful, blond, a model, 25 years old

Rafe
Tall, dark, gorgeous and handsome, 37 years old

Not bad. Not bad, at all.
Honestly, I wasn't expecting too much from this book, however, one thing for certain; H.G.'s books never lack the chemistry and the angst. I've always loved the main characters; her Heroes were always tall, dark and handsome and her heroines were always tall, slim and very beautiful. Indeed.
This was a short one compared to her other books (around 200 pages). This was also a bit dated but nevertheless, I enjoyed it.

1½ ★ Bride of the Tiger was published in 1987 and is representative of its genre at the time. That's not a good thing with the best of editing, which this book did not have. Given that I can't bring myself to throw even the worst book across the room, I compensated by trying to guess where the word "tiger" would appear on each page. The plot was interesting and was probably as developed as it could be, given the publisher's genre restrictions at the time. Graham honed her skills and went on to publish highly readable romances, romantic suspense, and paranormal romantic suspense. Indeed, she's one of my favorite authors in some genres. This book does not represent the quality of plotting, dialog, and flow of her later efforts.

Good story

Although "mistery and suspense" is not my favorite genre I very much appreciated this story. I will definitely read more of this serie.

Fashion model Tara Hill is gazing at a primitive tiger statue in a New York art museum. Looking up, she meets eyes with a handsome, powerful, mesmerizing man. He follows her to lunch and proceeds to attempt to sweep her off her feet. Unfortunately, Rafe Tyler has an ulterior motive for getting close to Tara. She was the last person to see his missing stepbrother, Jimmy, alive. Tara’s got some trust issues caused by her previous controlling/abusive relationship with the man who was involved in Jimmy’s disappearance. Rafe’s high-handed nature, although it comes from a place of Love (you know, the love they fall into over the course of like 4 days), makes Tara a little apprehensive. Understandably. However, Rafe is super-rich and super-hot, and totally loves her, so that makes up for it a lot. They travel back to Caracas, where Jimmy and the controlling ex were both last seen after a gun battle, so that the mystery can be solved.
There was a decent twist to the ending, but besides that, this was your typical romance with the tropes of lies and misunderstandings between two people who are unaccountably physically attracted to one another, and a seriously evil bad guy who the hero has to rescue the heroine from. It was written pretty well, except for all the internal marveling about how neither one of them could stop thinking about the other, even though they shouldn’t, and the never-felt-this-way-before sexual attraction they felt for each other. After two days. Whatever. Also, I could not get the “Eye of the Tiger” song out of my head the entire time I was reading this. Irritating.

Secrets

Lots of moving characters, a scandal, missing people and jewels and a romance. The story is quick and enjoyable. There is suspense, friendship and romance. The descriptions are vivid and the dynamics intriguing. I was thrown by two parts of the ending and found this to be a fun read.

I just read this novel and it was printed years ago, so I should probably go easy on it. So aside from the insta-love and the neverending professions of love, the book started out interesting as a type of revenge plot. That quickly changed to a love story and the mystery no longer was front and center. I thought Rafe's search for Jimmy was his sole motivation, but he quickly puts that aside for his insta-love with Tara. It dragged on and I thought the mystery and suspense - betrayal and mixed loyalties could have made this a page-turner. Instead, it didn't have a plot for much of the novel.
