K-lee Klein

K-lee Klein grew up in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia and now lives only two hours away in Calgary, Alberta. Her life is blessed by three now-grown (but still spoiled) kids and an adorable grandson who calls her Gwaa Gwaa. She has a patient husband of over thirty years and spends her days being bossed around by a kitten named Poe, a senior feline called, Miss Chili, and a canine who thinks she's a princess, Chewie.

K-lee’s writing muse is terribly temperamental so to keep him close by and in-check, she had him inked on her left calf. Yet she still writes on his schedule and inspiration, and quite honestly, he can be a bit of a drama queen. K-lee writes mostly contemporary but has forayed into paranormal and urban fantasy, and her favorite tropes to write and read are hurt-comfort, friends to lovers, opposites attract, and relationships with children. Her biggest accomplishment as an author was overcoming all the hurdles to transition from publisher releases to her first self-published book.

Although K-lee considers herself to be an extroverted introvert and revels in her solitude, she very much enjoys traveling to conferences to meet up with friends old and new. She’s grateful for all the people in her life who accept her as she is and support her through the ups and downs as a mom, wife, friend, and joyfully obsessed writer.

The main appeal of the story for me, after reading something really gooey with the same theme right before this one, is that it is absolutely without sappiness but still filled with emotions and intimacy in a fun, energetic, playful way.

So I really don’t want to ruin this with a review full of praise but still, I’m going to go into raptures over it a little.

One thing is for sure: I will read more by the author.

The Story
Surprising and bold.

Characters

Plot
Well-paced.

Tension
Perfectly measured.

Erotica

Humor

Dialogues
Sparkling.

Ending
The kinkiest ever!

Overall
A pleasant surprise!

Outfoxed is part of the Don't Read in the Closet anthology sponsored by Goodreads and is a very good read in its own right. Rylan and Gage, the two rock musicians have a pretty steamy affair going on but Rylan wants more - a commitment from the man he loves. I wanted more also - more about their lives prior to the episode related in Outfoxed, and subsequently how they would manage their 'new found' relationship.
A good story should always leave you wanting more, and hopefully the author has plans for not only a sequel, but a prequel that sets up the beginnings of their love story.

Rylan finally admits he is in love with his lover and band member Gage. But how to tell him? Fed up with threesomes with groupies, Rylan wants to be Gage's one and only.

A fun story with two likeable characters. The boys were sassy, cute and their dialogue brought a smile to my face.

It was a treat being with Rylan through the emotional torment of finally admitting he loved Gage and worrying over Gage's reaction. I felt sorry for him. Love can really make you crazy.

Oh, and rockstars! Awesome.

Meh. Basically smut. The dirty/rough talks, especially when one comparing the bottom with weak girl or pussy turned me off. And nope, cock-ring for commitment ring just didn't feel romantic for me. But then again, it's definitely my taste preference not yours.

** 2 foxy stars **

I'm torn about how to rate this story. First of all let me say the writing was excellent, which makes me not want to 1 rate it. And the story turned out sweet in the end, which also grudgingly does not want me to 1 star it. But man.... I had some serious stomach drops early in the story. Several. The just kept coming! I got really put out and I'm not sure I was really recovered by them when the sweet stuff started. So as sweet and romantic as they were (because for rockers what doesn't say (plot spoiler) I just couldn't quite enjoy them to the fullest.

---------------------------
All he knew was one minute he'd been fine with their casual, open lifestyle and the next he felt possessive and pouty whenever someone else shared his and Gage's evenings.

This review was originally published on my blog Joyfully Jay.

Outfoxed opens hot and heavy as Glitter Fox band members Rylan Rivers and Gage Galeano can barely keep their hands off one another back in their hotel room after the show. The men have been bandmates and friends for six years, and regularly hooking up for the last five. Things are really heating up when a knock on the door interrupts the men.

Rylan is annoyed and disappointed at the interruption. It is his birthday and he had hoped Gage would want to spend it with him alone. Although the men see other people, and frequently invite others into their bed, Rylan is realizing that what her really wants is just Gage. But he doesn't think Gage is ready for that type of commitment and he worries what asking for it might do to their friendship and the band. Yet Rylan still can't help but be angry at the sight of the young twink who shows up at their door and he storms out. Fortunately, there is more going on that Rylan realizes and he and Gage may just be on the same page after all.

I really enjoyed this story and loved Gage and Rylan together. They are tough and witty and battle for dominance in the sex lives. I especially liked how Gage comes across as a bit harder and more pushy at the beginning, but by the end we get to see his soft mushy side too. They guys were a nice combination of tough and dominant but also sweet and loving. I could totally see how they fit together.

As I mentioned, the story was posted to Goodreads and presumably never went through the same degree of editing as a published work. There were a few places where I think an editor might have caught some issues that slipped through. There were some small typos and an occasional issue I questioned, such Rylan wearing boxer shorts under skin tight leather pants. But for a free story I have absolutely no complaints about that kind of stuff and it definitely didn't get in the way of the flow of the book.

There were a few small things that bugged me a bit. We get the story from Rylan's POV, and it is clear he is in love with Gage and wants to make things more committed between them. But then we find out that he is still sleeping with other guys (on his own, not just as part of a threesome with Gage) which seemed surprising to me. And after Rylan returns after being angry about the twink, Gage seems to show little realization that Rylan is upset, even though it is presumably quite obvious.

Despite these issues, I really enjoyed this story. Klein writes super hot sex and the book has a lot of intensity and excitement for a short story. I was totally drawn in to the guys and their relationship and I was thrilled to hear that she is working on a sequel as well as a short prequel story coming out soon. I can't wait to read more about Rylan and Gage and would definitely recommend this free story.

Oh, and gorgeous cover, isn't it? Totally fits Gage and Rylan!

Good enough that I would read the future Glitter Fox shorts or novels.

Don't Read in the Closet is a collection of short stories published for free for members of the M/M Romance Group. The best part of this series of shorts is that they were based on a photo and a reader request for a story. Here is the photo and reader request that inspired this story (warning contains an erotic non-graphic M/M Situation):

Hot and sexy for each other, with love hidden beneath teasing banter, a little bit of angst and a whole lot of laughter - mmm, um, more please? Oh, and my favorite line?
"And you better not have broken my fucking tiara."
Thanks for writing about Glitter Fox, and with a little luck, I hope to read more!

Another great little freebie from the GR Hot Summer Days event 2011 featuring 2 Rock Stars Rylan and Gage, a huge fan of the group who is underage but very helpful, lots of misunderstandings, oh and glitter I believe, with some hot sex thrown in. The Zathyn Priest cover wasn't bad either. 4 stars

I really enjoyed this story. The writing was descriptive and flowed smoothly, and the main characters Rylan and Gage were sexy and absolutely perfect for one another. I loved the bathroom scene with the birthday ‘hats’ and ‘rings’. Sweet and hot. Great short read, would highly recommend.

This is definitely among my favorite stories of the HSD. I liked the back and forth between the characters and that the big misunderstanding wasn't allowed to drag on.

A nice short story about a couple of hard- and strong-loving rockers.

Started as a smokin' hot one, drawing straight (not only those ;D) in the story and its mood. Also a slight angst quickly turning into a hardcore fluff.
However, I gotta admit I loved Rylan and Gage's interaction and other hints (old-hat-style shared -and mutualy endured- humor for example), which spoke of years spent together and which were well executed. At the same time, no matter the years, misunderstandings (more precisely 'missreading' another person) happen all the time, maybe even more so the longer you are together with that other person. So no wonder it was present here as well. As much as some are harping that it would be enough to just "fucking comunicate" and are vexed whenever it's chosen as a part of a story plot (way too overused - and there's some truth to that), I still find it an unavoidable part of anyone's life, hence, also stories - as dumb as some may seem.
If I gotta be honest, I did not like the second half of this short story - and not for the lack of smokin' hot sexy times. It just seemed to me the pace of the story slowed way too much, the wheels rusty all of a sudden, almost locked. That being said, their closeness kept the cart moving and even though the abrupt fluff atack, it was surprisingly survivable.
Concerning the rock band characteristic of the story, I got more of a general celeb vibe than of rock stars, really, but that could be expected, considering the limited word-count of the story.
All in all, Outfoxed is a pretty well-written, nice and easy reading of a short story for a few free minutes of relaxation.

Ehhh, this was a no-go for me.
I know it's a freebie but it was short and felt...empty.
Super light on plot but super strong with smut...which can be fine but I was hoping for more.

This review can be found at Brief Encounters Reviews.

The story starts right off with rough and tumble bandmates Rylan and Gage fighting for supremacy in the bedroom after their show. It also turns out it’s Rylan’s birthday, and at the ripe old age of 35 he’s starting to take stock of his life and is starting to think that maybe nameless faceless encounters and threesomes with Gage aren’t quite his thing anymore. He’s hoping to spend his birthday with just the two of them, when Gage brings in his birthday surprise. A young band follower whom Gage assumes is there to be a third, and he gets royally ticked off and storms out.

He eventually goes back and they talk it out and it seems maybe Rylan’s not the only one feeling that way, and the kid (was only 17 which made Rylan even angrier) was not there for a threesome, but to deliver a special birthday gift. If you like your sex rough and manly, for lack of a better word, this is the story for you. Men who don’t mind drawing blood as they battle for supremacy in the bedroom. I did find I was a bit confused as to the role of the kid who precipitated the discussion. I wasn’t sure why he would be there, given what his role was. You’d think a hotel staff could have done that, and there would have been no confusion. So it seemed a bit contrived to cause the conflict to me.

For fans of the rock star genre, it will be a good choice. There is a follow-up Valentine’s short with the guys Theme of Hearts for those who want to see more of them.

4.5 This is a short story that introduces Gage and Rylan, band members of Glitter Fox. ROCKERS! These guys are not only band mates but they are best friends and lovers. They invite others in to play with them and they take turns being top. In short, they seem like go with the flow, casual lovers. As you read, however, you catch the longing on the part of Rylan, who wants more from Gage, maybe even all from Gage.

It is Rylan’s birthday, and he wants to celebrate with Gage. Just Gage. Only Gage. When a hot young man knocks on the door, part of his birthday present from Gage, you feel Rylan’s heart breaking.

I thought their manner of speaking fit perfectly with the rocker aspect, and with people who are comfortable with who they are. There are parts that were just funny “dude, are you wearing gold drawers?”. Gold lame underpants, of course he is.

For a short story, this packed a big punch in developing the relationship between Rylan and Gage. Being rockers was an added bonus and their personas fit them well. The fact that it ends so sweetly was even better. I can’t wait to read more of these two.

I found the dialogue and the interaction between the characters entertaining and hilarious which is always a plus for me. There were times when I couldn't stand Gage and I thought that Rylan deserved someone better than him. Until the author wrapped everything up and I could see that like Rylan, I didn't know Gage's side of the story and the other man was not as bad as I thought he would be. Really cool when you consider that the author was able to draw her readers in to enjoy a book and dislike a character. I found the story too short though, and I was happy to learn that there were more books in the series.

This story is cute and it's well-written. I can't really say that it is one of my faves though. I'm not really sure why. I like Rylan and I like Gage; however, I think the way that Rylan acted was completely over the top. In the book, his own observation was "this wasn't him." So why, then, did he need to do such a thing? And, truthfully, while he said he was in love with Gage, Gage was the only one to "confess". Rylan never once said the words; it was all about Gage having to "prove" it to Rylan first, before anything else would take place.

Mmmm, hot rockers embroiled in a battle of wills - love that combination! They seemed like the perfect match for each other. I'm glad they both finally woke up and were ready to toss out the twinks and commit already - their commitment "gifts" were just the icing on the cake;) Hot, hot story, K Lee. I'm thrilled to see you are planning a sequel and looking forward to much more from you. Thank you!!!

This was such a great book. I fell in love with both Rylan and Gage. Ms. Klein does such a wonderful job in her description of what both men are feeling. The chemistry between the two characters was electrifying which made for some hot sex scenes. I would highly recommend this book and I am looking forward to the next one.

Oh boy!!! The story was steaming hot, and if the publishing houses don't see the talent we all saw, then they're blind.

The book was wonderful and the interaction between the boys made the butterflies in my belly have a little party.

Great job K-lee!!!
