Under the Green Light is a manhwa that tells the story of a peculiar 24yo artist who falls in love with a hot 34 gangster - two vastly different lifestyles that align. 🚬🎨 It's a tug of war of desire and heat that slowly melts into something sincere and permanent, no matter how hard Jin feigns disinterest and pushes him away from his way of life. For despite their steamy hookups, underneath, there is a yearning far greater than he'd ever expect.
From their first meeting to green-doe-eyed softie hottie Matthew's desperate longing for cool-as-a-cucumber Jin as his muse, his soul; how Jin is tactful in trying to keep Matthew out of danger when it becomes painstakingly clear that Matthew will do anything for him. 😥 The sensual tension between them is immaculate - that smile, that smile is dangerous. 😏

The steam was tasteful - fumbling seduction that was both sexy and cute, despite the awkward difficulty of expressing their fierce want. ❤️🔥 It's hard to tell which one of us here is the prey. I did have a few gripes with some aspects to their relationship - the history behind their dynamic, along with one unpleasant instance where Matthew behaved uncharacteristically so, while under the heavy influence of hallucination drugs. It did sour my mood a bit. 🫤
The attention to detail in the art was stunning. Different shades and artwork that brought forth the tension and drama or left you breathless with the extra spicy episodes. 😳 The color green, itself, has a voice - a presence that beats in time to how their relationship steadily shifts in an almost hypnotic way. 🟢 The writing blends into the visuals - bold and sharp and poetic. The final moments after the climax were high heat and high stakes but also breathtakingly beautiful.

It's an emotional reckoning, paved by hardships - physical and mental anguish showcasing the seedy, dark belly of the criminal underworld, where substance abuse and violence lead up to an explosive finale when those are drifting through life, chasing dreams to escape their reality. 🥺 Jin's and Matthew's love and desire are tested, and a reunion seems impossible; but even in the darkness, their sacrifices to protect one another become the defining force to save each other. 😔
The writing and the art, the action and the romance - my heart or interest never wavered. 🤌🏻 I felt each ache, each whisper, each kiss. It was an emotional, sometimes exhausting, if not exhilarating, read due to the angst, feels, and their difficult decisions. But in the end, it tied together in a rewarding and wholesome way; it felt so satisfying to see them embrace each other with open arms. 💐🫂💕

THE ENDING WAS PEAK PERFECTION!!! I LOVED it. i GOBBLED it all up in one day and i still want more of Jin and Matthew. Ohh god the rollercoaster of emotions i went through while reading this but i couldn't have asked for anything else especially with the way how jaxx ended it. Jin leaving everything for Matthew? The exhibition?? Jin building themselves a home from scratch and asking Matthew to move in??? I AM DEEAAADDDD

Fue uno de los primeros manhwas BL que me recomendaron, así que le tengo cierto cariño por eso. Aun así, no quita que la historia a veces se me haya hecho un poco confusa y que los personajes resulten algo dependientes. Supongo que forma parte de su esencia, y aunque no ha estado mal, no ha conseguido engancharme del todo.
El final, eso sí, es justo el que esperaba y me encantó.
"—Estaba preocupado. ¿De qué forma me veías o qué pensabas de mí? Mirar mi lado feo y sentirte decepcionado.
—No eres perfecto, Jin. Con tu linda cara actúas mal, tus puñetazos duelen e incluso eres bueno diciendo cosas hirientes. Me tratas bien, pero luego te enojas... Y cuando estás de mal humor, es difícil llevarse bien contigo. En sí, eres todo un caos.
—Ah, ¿en serio?
—Pero desde mi punto de vista, eres más hermoso que nadie, tal como eres. Quiero captar cada minuto y cada segundo de tus cambios.

Pues bien servido pero nada por resaltar. Y más que al final se revela algo que no me gusta, específicamente por un tropo que no soporto.
Las escenas subidas de tono se vuelven cansinas y hasta llega lo típico imperdonable de dañar todo poniendo una clara violación que es horrenda y encima en el peor estado físico. Así que ni olvido ni perdón.
Jin Cheongwoo nadie te merece.

I'm glad that after everything they've been through together, they're finally fucking happy for once. Literally every time you think they're gonna catch a break, that fuckass bitch Brandon pops back up to traumatize Jin once AGAIN. Which indirectly also traumatizes Matthew. Reading about everything Jin went through in the hands of Brandon was tough. It was hard to see him suffer so much and not even realize it because he thought Brandon cared for him. He literally wasted 5 YEARS of Jin's life over crimes he never even committed. For anyone out there who ships Jin and Brandon. Shame on you. It's like wanting Ian and Tj from Wetsand to remain together after the hell Tj put Ian through.
Onto Matthew now. I love that no matter what happened, no matter how many times Jin pushed him away or got mad at him, he never even took it to heart and kept on pushing to make sure Jin was safe. After everything went down and all was settled, I wish we could have had more of them being domestic like they were in the chapters of their date. But honestly I'll take anything as long as they're safe and together.
At the end when Matthew was answering his interview questions about Jin, I was so filled with joy. They literally cannot live without each other. Jin asking Matthew to move in with him and twin basically jumped in his arms as if he got proposed to lol. I finally got to see both of them smile the widest and most genuine that they ever have.
Utgl is finally over after so many years and despite the trials and tribulations, Jin and Matthew finally made it to their happy ending. I'll miss them a lot

En general, creo que es una historia de 4.5 estrellas. Me encantó la atmósfera y los increíbles personajes; sin embargo, tuve algunas dificultades con ciertas cosas. Creo que es muy buena la manera en que se construyó la trama y cómo la vida de Matthew y Jin está tan entrelazada. Son el motivo del otro y la única familia que tienen. No porque así estuviera establecido, sino porque depositaron su confianza en el vínculo. Es algo hermoso. También siento que el desenlace fue muy acertado. Que se hayan mantenido como una pareja a distancia y ambos avanzaran en sus proyectos individuales me parece fantástico.

Never mind what I said previously with volume 1 of Matthew I take it all back. But damn that ending, why? Just why? A cliffhanger… Damn now I need season 2 ASAP!!!
While I’m not fully invested. I can’t stop reading because the story is interesting. Like I want to know what else is going to happen.
I will say that Jin is a beast! The way he went crazy and just murdered anyone that got in his way, damn, I was shocked and invested.
Also, we need to protect Jin's bodyguards Joo Yoon-bal & Joo Seongchi they're so adorable!!!

Maldita obra de arte. Vivan los hombres, viva Jin, viva Matthew, vivan mis niños. Realmente ame final, solo diré que Jin fue inteligente, maduro la fruta para después comérsela.
Todos podrán decir lo que quieran pero, la química es increíble, como Jin nunca olvido a Matt, la escultura, el como aprendieron a llevar su relación, no se, ellos me dan vida y se que seguiré bien intensa al menos hasta el año que viene con ellos.

This was so beautiful. It’s the kind of story you always carry with you in your heart. Matthew and Jin are so so precious and im glad they finally got their much deserved happy ending. I’m so happy that they got their hea but also sad that it’s over. Also, potato is the cutest pet name and you can’t change my mind.
I hope the author decides to write side stories someday.
