All true . . . but my regular life is a whole lot more routine. Deal with the five big puppers who share our house, babysit our grandson, battle the jungle that is our yard, pray for summer in winter and dream of winter in summer, and hunker down at the computer -- that's my real life.
I grew up in Oklahoma and had the fun of living in Georgia, Alabama, California and the Carolinas, thanks to my husband's Navy career. When he retired, we came home to Oklahoma and have lived in the same house for seventeen years. That's a real "Wow!" for someone used to the nomadic military life.
Writing was the perfect career for all that moving. Have computer, will travel. I've set books, or part of them, in every state we've lived in and been inspired by every place I've ever been. I've now written somewhere around 80 books, and I think I've got only about 8,000 stories left to tell.
My biggest hobby is starting new projects -- starting. Not completing. I'm still not done with the cross-stitched Army seal I started when our son joined out of high school. He did tours in Georgia, Colorado, Korea, Italy, Iraq, Afghanistan and Louisiana, and has been out for a few years. So I'm a little slow.
I like to think about getting organized, painting my living room in cool beachy colors, and turning my entire five-acre yard into a garden. I also dream about having every room in my house clean at exactly the same time, but I live by the motto of the woman who taught me to quilt: A clean house is the sign of a bored woman.
And I've never been bored.

Marilyn Pappano is an author who has never shied from writing what no-one else would and this book is no different because in this we have Hannah our heroine, broke and desperate accepting money from her ex to seduce his business partner in what she thinks is helping his wife out in the divorce and turns out to be murder.
Mick is a good guy who worked hard to be where he is and stayed married years married to a woman who only wanted his money and cheated constantly but he was always faithful and tried. He has been separated from his wife for eighteen months and the first time he has sex with another woman, he finds himself accused of murdering his wife and burning down his under construction money sucking resort for money, his only alibi "Elizabeth" seems to have disappeared.
Then he finds that Elizabeth is Hannah and that she doesn't want to vouch for him, since she is being blackmailed and threatened by Mick's own business partner Brad. Hannah had dreams of a life not involving the motel her family ran but she had to give it all up and come home to take care of her fragile mother and grandmother, her biggest mistake was borrowing money from Brad which allowed him to blackmail her.
She regrets it and feels cheapened. Honestly, I am not sure how the author could make a heroine like this likable but at the end she made me kind of like her while Mick was an awesome guy, forgiving and too loving.
The book was pretty different.

This is my first book by Marilyn Pappano and it certainly won’t be the last. There is a murder (the Hero’s unfaithful wife) and it is clear from the beginning who is the killer, but the author knows how to maintain the suspense, with the police following the main suspect, Mick (H) and H and h knowing the “trap” set by the killer is closing on them. How can they find evidence against the true killer? And as the story develops, so does the relationship of Mick and Hanna. But shall they have any future together, should Mick be wrongly comdemned?

I would have liked this book if the h hadn't been such a simp, staying with a wife who used him for his resources and slept with other men. He sticks with her and is faithful to her???? What's the male equivalent of Mary Sue? The h should look elsewhere for a HEA, unless she's a boss "rhymes with rich".

This book felt like it was written in 1990’s. The characters were interesting. The bad guy was just a little too evil. The sheriff a little too dumb. It was a unique story, which is always a plus in a romance.
