Intuition: A Bonus Intangible short story, an introduction to the highly rated Intangible Series. An enthralling glimpse into the Intangible world by an "author [who] has a way with words that just pulls you into the story and holds you there until the very last word, and even then you just do not want to be let go" (Shelly Hammond).
Luke and his twin sister Sera have unusual abilities. Hers is a gift--she can heal with a touch of her hand. His is a curse--he can see the future but he can't do anything about it.
On a hike up the mountain, Luke has a vision unlike any other--one that leaves him terrified. Knowing that it will come true--and that he must do everything in his power to stop it--leaves his own future uncertain.
(This is a short story, and approximately 16 pages long.)
Intangible (Book One), Imaginable (Book Two), and Indomitable (an Intangible novella) are available now. Book Three coming late 2015.
Jen Meyers grew up in Vermont, spent three years in Germany when she was a kid, and now lives in central New York. When she’s not reading or writing, she’s chasing after her four kids, playing outside, relishing the few quiet moments she gets with her husband, and forgetting to make dinner.
She is the author of the highly-rated Intangible series, a young adult contemporary fantasy, and numerous contemporary romance novels.
I thoroughly enjoyed this short story prequel to Intangible. I can't wait to read the book. I love that the protagonists are twins with different powers.
This prequel is free on both Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and it's really very short. Read it next time you have ten minutes to spare.
Before I started reading Intangible I looked into what other books J. Meyers had written and saw Intuition. It is free to purchase off Amazon and it is very much a prequel to Intangible. I actually read it after though because I didn't notice how short it was and wanted to be able to review Intangible as soon as possible. Even though this was only 51 pages it really gave you a sense of who Luke and Sera are as characters and what I loved even more is that the incident that happens within this book is referred to in Intangible which I didn't know at the time and was sat wondering why it got mentioned two or three times because I wasn't aware of the significance of it, d'oh! Completely my own fault for rushing into things head on though. Unlike Intangible I gave this four stars rather than five because it is more of a little back story to the Twins and not much happens but it was still lovely and worth reading. So if for whatever reason you're still unsure if you want to pick this series up then I recommend hopping over to download this to get a taste of Sera and Luke's lives.
Very short preview free ebook that serves as a launching vehicle for INTANGIBLE (release date winter 2012)...through which we meet Luke and Sera. Told through the eyes of Luke, he and his twin sister are taking a hike up "their" mountain in Vermont when events unfold. They were just looking for their place; where they can be themselves; where they don't have to hide their powers.
Even as short as this taste was...it was good. Nicely written. It left me wanting more of their story!
Let me just first say that I didn't realize that this bonus story actually took place prior to the story in Intangible. Had I thought to check when they were published, I might have known to read this before reading Intangible, but as it was, I didn't. So, if interested in this series, be sure to read this story first!
Intuition seems to take place not long before the story in Intangible. You have 17 year old twins, Luke and Sera Raine, who are Gifted. Sera can heal with the touch of her hands and Luke can see the future. At the beginning of the book they set out to go hiking, which has become almost a ritual for them ... a way to escape and relax from their everyday lives.
Since this story is really rather short, I can't say much about the storyline as that would spoil everything. But the events that occur in this story are referenced in Intangible. One briefly but the other is a major story point, though if you've read the synopsis for Intangible, you can probably guess. :) So again, read Intuition first if you want to start this series!
I'm finding it hard to rate this short story. I think that I might have enjoyed it more had I read it first because, as I've mentioned, what is in this story is referenced in Intangible. So there wasn't really anything new, just an expanded story that you only got a quick bit of info on within the pages of Intangible. It is, of course, well written and interesting none-the-less.
I read this story before and after I read the book Intangible--before because the events of this story take place before Intangible, and after to refresh my take on the characters. I recommend you read this story before and after also!
I enjoyed the story more the second time I read it because I had more insight into Luke and Sera's personalities as well as their relationship as twins. I was left wanting more!
It's funny because I had downloaded this story shortly after I received my Kindle for Christmas this year. I entered the giveaway here on Goodreads for a copy of Intangible, not realizing the two went together. I hadn't had a chance to read Intuition yet.
I didn't end up winning the giveaway for Intangible, but the author emailed me and so graciously offered to give me a copy of the book for my Kindle to review. I follow her blog, and I love the topics she writes about. Check out her profile and follow her blog! She really seems to love her readers and is completely friendly and approachable--my favorite qualities in an author. :)
Intuition is a prequel novella to Intangible and it's very short. The synopsis of Intangible had me intrigued and when I discovered that it has a free prequel, I was all for it!
I am glad I read Intuition, the whole concept seems very different from the usual paranormal young adult books out there and the covers are pretty, too. Intuition started off with Luke feeling the impending doom and urging the feeling to take over him. He can see the future. He and Sera, his twin sister, then start out for their traditional hike to Mt. Mansfield where Luke has two visions. The first takes some healing from Sera while, the second vision terrifies Luke.
Who was the person Luke saw in his vision? And why doesn't he want to tell Sera about it, yet? This is what Intangible would answernd I am hoping, it would be with a dash of some action!
This is just a very short story that introduces us to Sera and Luke. We get to see how they interact with each other and learn what they can do. I read this after reading Intangible, so it was just a nice extra story to see Luke having this certain vision for the first time, which is what the whole book Intangible focuses on. I thought it was a great story, but when I say short, I really mean short. It is about the length of a chapter of a book. If you want to get to know Sera and Luke a little before reading Intangible, or want to see how he has this vision for the first time it is great. It will only take a few minutes to read.
This was an intense little short prequel of Intangible! It gives us the back story of Luke's vision of his sister Sera's death. It also shows a little bit of Luke's and Sera's powers. Luke's vision of the future that he's NEVER been able to change, no matter how many times he tries. And we get to see a little bit of Sera's healing power and how it works!
I haven't read the first book Intangible yet, I'm going to be reading it next, but I can tell that's going to be as good as this one, if not better~!
This very short introduction to the Intangible YA series is an attention grabber! Twins, Luke and Sera each have a special 'ability.' Sera is able to heal others with her touch. Luke can see the future, but is helpless to do anything about it. While hiking, Sera has the opportunity to heal someone because Luke saw what was going to happen.
Then, Luke has another vision, and it chills him to the bone when he realizes what it means, and he is helpless to stop it!
Wow! This was a great prequel! I loved the characters Luke and Sera and am definitely looking forward to reading more about them and their abilities. The ending was a huge cliffhanger and I can't wait to see what happens next! Very well written, I think this promises to be a fantastic, unique series.
A quick short sampling into the Intangible Series. I love the twins abilities although I think I would hate to have his and be able to foretell the future. That's something I don't wanna know until it gets here! I wanted to smack computer when I got to the lil cliffhanger at the end though... Wow I got to read more from this series!
Definitely made me want to read the novel:) It was like a really short preview, though. Not much you can do with only 10 pages, but it did make me curious. Looking forward to reading "Intangible"
Alright well I didn't notice it was a short story leading into a book but thank god it was. Otherwise I would have went ham on this authors behind.
But to be honest this short 35 page preview was pretty boring. I barley made it through and it was a five minute read!
Did I want to read the actual book this was advertising? Absolutely not. Did I care for the characters? Nope. Was the ending a good cliffhanger? Yeah but it could have been tons better .
The idea of the story is a bit overdone, although the cliffhanger did peak my interest a bit. But if the next book were to be executed just as bad as this one then forget it.
It's a short story it took a short time to write why couldn't you edit it and make 35 pages amazing? I'd hate to see what a whole book would be like...
Not much of a story here, a lot of introduction to characters I didn’t end up caring about.
The writing needs work, and another pass at editing to cut unneeded content and to fix up italics where visions finished and transition into current scenes need to be addressed. Theres also random capitalised words strewn throughout that shouldn’t be there.
The concept of special powers has been done to death, this short story did very little to add anything to the well-worn tropes. Twins, previous trauma and distrust of others all come to the forefront.
Also left on a cliffhanger, to tempt you to buy the next instalment I guess.
I doubt I’ll continue with the series. Got this one for free from Amazon.
Ever wonder that the impossible were actually possible, for Luke and Sera they know first hand because they can do the unimaginative. Luke is able to see the future which is all that great because everything he sees actually comes true. For Sera being a healer has its perks sure, but never has their been someone to question if she actually healed them. If that were to happen, well they probably used against their wishes. So keeping quit about their abilities is easy, not even their parents know about them. What is crazy though is for Luke having the feeling that a vision is coming and its lasting affects really puts a strain, keeping it from Sera is even harder.
But when he gets that feeling and a big head ache comes, he knows eventually something will come. When it comes though he runs to try and be where his vision lead him, its not until he and Sera are too late to have stopped it. Sera goes and does her healing on the guy but the one thing no one saw coming was, that after healing the guy felt something. No one has ever felt her their Sera has always been able to mask herself. With this news both are of course question who else might be able to feel the same as the guy. Because if one can than soon enough it will be even more. On the way home though Luke gets that feeling like before except of waiting though the vision comes full force. The one thing he never saw happen before came to him and even though his visions come true, he will stop at nothing to make sure this vision does not come true.
This was actually pretty cool, always wanted to be able to have some type of power, but hiding never really crossed my mind. I guess with their abilities, they have to hide because they can become lab rats. For Luke though his last vision of course will have a full affect on him because he never once saw something through his future eyes and its never been this bad. For Sera to have someone know or kinda know she healed is a little scary because she has always tried to hide and so has her brother for both they have just wanted to live life. People finding out has never really crossed their mind because they lead normal lives, just with an added bonus. This was a nice intro to the story, Luke and Sera have some visions and healing to do, and I can't wait to see what else is next for them.
Luke and his twin sister Sera have unusual abilities. Hers is a gift—she can heal with a touch of her hand. His is a curse—he can see the future but he can’t do anything about it.
On a hike up the mountain, Luke has a vision unlike any other—one that leaves him terrified. Knowing that it will come true—and that he must do everything in his power to stop it—leaves his own future uncertain. Twins, Luke and Sera, have special abilities. She can heal someone with her touch, and he can see the future but can't do anything about it. On a hike up a mountain near their home, Luke has a vision unlike anything he ever had before. His visions are never wrong, and he just had the one he never wanted to see.
I love prequel novellas. I know a lot of people dislike them, but I think they are brilliant. They are an ideal way to see if you are going to like a story. It's a minimum time investment for great results. They are perfect to drum up interest in a story and get you hooked. Intuition does just that.
Luke and Sera are nice characters. Of course you don't learn too much about them, it's a teeny novella, but you get to see that they have a great relationship with one another and they are nice to see. They don't come off as annoying or whiny. They seem to be fairly level-headed considering they have these gifts to live with.
The plot is simple. They are on a hike and Luke is dealing with the pre-effects of his visions. He knows one is coming, but he doesn't know when it will arrive. He has a vision of someone being hurt and they go to try to stop it, but don't make it in time. Afterwards, he has a second vision, this time one that is more than he ever wanted to see. It's very straight forward. But the writing is done really well. You are slowly built up to this, and then hooked. You aren't left feeling overly emotional, but your interest is piqued and you know that the first novel in the series is going to be on your to-read list.
All in all a strong start to what looks like it will be an interesting series. Plus, the novella is $0.99 or less on Amazon, B&N, and Smashwords. What do you have to lose?
This one is such a tease! It definitely leaves you aching to start on Intangible. Here you get a small taste of Luke and Sera and the things they can do. The gift of intuition and the gift of healing. Though this story mainly focuses on the intuition aspect obviously.
The only flaw I found to this was not in the story itself. It was in the italics J.Meyer forgot to undo after the last vision Luke has. But it's a small error and only someone as ocd as I am about things will find it a bother.
Because this story is so short, I feel I can't rightfully give it a 5 since there weren't enough pages to give me much of an impression of anything. I do however enjoy the story for what it is.
This was a great intro to the Intangible series. We get a run down of who Luke and Sera are and their abilities.
Luke sees the future. He gets a feeling of "impending doom", you know when you're hesitant about going into a situation because you just know something's going to go wrong, that's how I'd like to describe his precognition state. Then he sees a vision of someone else and usually something terrible is about to happen to them.
Sera can heal people, actually she can heal their immediate injury and then her powers end up going above and beyond by repairing pretty much everything that might have ever been wrong with them, mentally or physically.
Not to fret, they take the "with great power comes great responsibility" motto to heart because they're akin to unsung teenage superheroes that use their powers to save people and cure diseases, that kind of stuff.
Luke's not all that thrilled with his powers because while he can see something terrible about to happen, he can't change a darn thing. He gets there miliseconds before it happens and all he can do is helplessly watch it unfold and let Sera pick up the pieces afterwards. Luke's frustration with his power becomes a major component of Intangible later on, when he has one of the most terrifying visions to date.
Meyers absolutely captured my attention with Luke and Sera's sibling relationship, which was reflected really well in the cover. It was genuinely warm, affectionate and full of witty banter that only twins could get away with (there was a lot of finishing eachother's sentences). The vision at the end definitely had me intrigued for what was going to happen in Intangible.
Intuition is the prequel to Jen Meyers Intangible trilogy. I got this book for free on Amazon.
This story is short but there is plenty of adventure and magic. It is only a sneak peak into the lives of Luke and Sera but you can see why Luke feels like his gift isn't so much a gift but a curse.
The twins had only planned on going for a hike so that they could be themselves and not have to hide who they are when something happens preventing them from continuing their hike.
This short has left me wanting more so I plan on eventually reading the whole series.
I got a free copy of this book from Amazon and I'm so glad I did.
This novella gives us some insight into Luke and Sera, twins with remarkable gifts. Luke is a Seer. He has visions of the future but he is unable to do anything about those visions. Sera is a healer and can heal with the touch of her hands.
I really loved this introduction to Luke and Sera. Their sibling connection is really awesome. You can see how they care about each other and how they would do anything for one another.
When Luke has a vision of the future that scares him, he refuses to tell Sera what it was about. But she knows, deep down. And the scariest part is she knows there will be no stopping it.
I cannot wait to read this series...this introduction was just, WOW! I tore through it. The background information was great and the scenery is completely set for the next book.
Awesome job by the author. Looking forward to the next read!

Intuition, book 0.5 in the Intangible series, is a free prequel to Intangible (which I received for review, from the author herself). Although I enjoyed reading Intuition, it felt as though it was just a sampler of Intangible rather than a separate book; also, sadly the language used was quite simplistic and didn’t really correspond with the storyline of Intuition. Due to it being such a short book, (only about forty kindle pages / screens, if that!), I found that I didn’t have a favourite character as such. I am not too keen on the cover of Intuition, as I would have preferred that it had matched more with the cover of Intangible.
This is a very short story that is currently (I am not sure if it always is or not) free on Amazon. It is written as a teaser and includes a chapter to the full length book “Intangible”. After reading this 16 page short and also reading the chapter, I will give you a little word of advice. Do not read it… unless you already purchased the full length book to follow it with as it is one heck of a teaser and you will be kicking yourself or rushing to get the book the second you finish it because you just need to know what will happen next, immediately!! It is a much better idea to just have it already to go the very moment that you finish.
This short story is so very well written that in just 16 short pages you find yourself already attached to the characters, picturing the beautiful Vermont mountains in your mind perfectly (and I have never seen them myself, but I now feel like I have), and worrying about things that I won’t mention because I do not want to give anything away. This author has a way with words that just pulls you into the story and holds you there until the very last word and even then you just do not want to be let go. It is a very enjoyable short and I recommend it fully.
Intuition is an incredibly brief yet intriguing short story that will make you very curious about Intangible.
Written in third person, it centers around twins Luke and Sera, as they go for a hike. Luke can see the future, and what he sees always comes true - no matter what he does. Sera can heal a person with a touch. Their sibling relationship seemed very genuine, and the writing was easy to get into.
I'm not going to get into details. Intuition is a nice introduction into who the two main characters are and a chance to see their abilities in action. Then there's the ending, which makes for a great hook into the novel - I'm definitely contemplating purchasing a copy of Intangible for my Kindle now.
Simply put, if you're curious about this short story or Intangible, then check this one out. Plus, it includes a glimpse into the first chapter of Intangible!
Intuition is a very short story at only 18 pages long but I rather enjoyed it. This bonus story was released before Intangible which I didn't realise and I read it after the main story but it was fine, I think you can read Intuition before or after Intangible, it adds to the story either way. But I think knowing what I know now I would read it as my starting point, It gives us the main premise for Intangible.
What I really like about Intuition was that it took just one event and concentrate on it. It wasn't a novella with things going on here there and everywhere or a typical short story. What it is is a glimpse into the lives of Luke and Sera and the things they face everyday. We get to see just the two of them for some time before they help the injured man up the mountain.
It was really nice to see the twins together this way, we learn just how close they are and how much they need and appreciate each other. I believe Intuition is a free ebook at the moment and it's defiantly worth the read. It's a nice set up for Intangible and I recommend both books.
Intuition by J. Meyers is a bonus Intangible short story. It centers on twins Luke and Sera as they hike up Mt. Mansfield, one of their favorite pastimes. Not only is it a scenic place to be, but it also helps to calm the twins, something they desperately need, considering their gifts. You see, Luke is a Seer, he sees the future, while Sera can heal with just a touch. So when Luke has a vision of a fellow hiker in danger, the twins set out to help.
Intuition is a perfect little teaser for Intangible, which I haven't had a chance to read yet. But now I'm dying to get my hands on a copy! Luke and his sister are so... compatible in that way that only twins can be. They even finish each others sentences. And the way the teaser ends? Oh, man! I need to read Intangible. Like now!
Intuition will leave you desperately wanting to know what happens next to Luke and Sera. It's short, but it's really only a teaser for Intangible which is on sale now!
I'm glad I picked this little short story up. I've been curious about Intangible, so I thought I'd give Intuition a try to get a feel for J. Meyers her style and, of course, this series. I thought this short prequel very well done, and the situation/cliffhanger she creates definitely left me hooked and wanting more of Luke & Sera's story.
I'm also very excited about the prospect of a sibling relationship being at the heart of this series. Even in this short story, Luke & Sera's close relationship is evident and very sweet. They're friends as well as siblings, and I love that. Sure, sibling relationships tend to play into stories regularly, but one of the siblings always seems to be "off-screen" with the protagonist trying to find or rescue them... or both. I feel like Luke & Sera have the potential to have a different sort of dynamic, and I'm excited to read more of their story.
Overall, in addition to being an intriguing story all by itself, Intuition is a promising introduction to J. Meyer's full-length novel, Intangible.
I just want to start this review by talking about the cover art. I just love the font for the title. It is overall a beautiful cover. I really hope someday we get it in print.
I really enjoyed this short story. J. Meyers did a wonderful job of pulling me into the story the moment I read the first sentence. I stayed enthralled all the way till the end and even then I was left wanting more!
Luke and Sera are twins with unusual gifts. Luke can see the the future although so far he has not ever been able to change it. Sera can heal people but she has no control over how much healing she completes. They dont want anyone to know their secret so they keep it to themseleves. They seem to have such an amazing bond even for twins.
This prequel set the stage perfectly for the next book Intangible. There is a dramatic cliffhanger at the end of this story so be sure you have the next book ready. The ending of Intuition completely caught me off guard. I look forward to seeing where Meyers takes us next!
When J Meyers emailed me and asked me if I was interested in reviewing Intangible, despite how amazing it sounded I almost had to turn it down (what with exams and all!). But he then mentioned Intuition was free and would introduce me to his characters. Well, I was sold!
So, this is a very short introduction to J's novel Intangible. I'm impressed with the premise. The idea for the novel is shown to be an interesting one from Intuition and it allows us to meet the characters inside the Intangible story (where as it could have been a completely separate story...).
We see an example of Luke and Sera's powers put to the test in Intuition which gives us a hint of what Intangible will be like. I'm really excited to get my hands on Intangible.
His writing is amazing, the characters were interesting and I only wish I could read Intangible immediately.
I definitely suggest you read it. So yeah, read it and let me know what you think about it!
