Aw dang! Team Plasma tricked the gym leaders and Black but good. The bad guys end up with the dark stone and kidnap most of the gym leaders to boot.

Brycen and Drayden take on helping Black get stronger. Iris accompanies him as well since she's been training with Drayden as his successor. It's so cute how Iris calls both Brycen and Drayden her grandpas, and I love how they seem to respect her a lot.

The light stone chooses Black as it's person, but it won't open up for him just yet. And the question is, should it be opened? What manner of destruction would be wrought upon this Pokeworld should these two legendary beasts battle once more?

Hmm, moving on. During Black's training, they get close to the the Battle Subway. As an aside, all the words in here are in caps. I have trouble sometimes knowing what is a proper noun or not. I'm just assuming, I guess, that Battle Subway is the proper name for that thing, so here we go. They get close to the Battle Subway, and Black starts to wonder how White and Brav are doing and we are rewarded with the most adorable flashback ever of Black, Cheren, and Bianca as kids finding Musha and Brav for the first time. Sweet Arceus, Cheren's face when Musha munches on Black for the first time is epic. Clearly that dude is traumatized.

White's still hanging around the Battle Subway and meets up with Bianca playing the flute. Bianca confesses to feeling lost without a dream to call her own, and White sets her up to meet with a musician at the Cafe Sonata. Turns out Team Plasma's already there tearing up the place and trapping sweet beautiful Meloetta. Can I just take a moment to talk about how much I love Vullaby's design? It's a baby bird with a skull shaped egg diaper! That is so interesting to me.

Anyway, White and Bianca join the fray. Bianca uses her musical skills in tandem with Meloetta's powers, to cinch the win, and White captures the Vullaby (yes!) and names her freaking Barbara. Ha!

Bianca decides that her true passion is to learn more about pokemon and she's going to be Professor Juniper's assistant. She hands off her pokedex to White, and the volume ends with Black and the gang heading to Brycen's gym for one final challenge.

White is waaaaaaayyyy too forgiving in my opinion, LOL. Black’s ambition is out of hand. I still like how faithful this series is to the games.

My only complaint is that Cheren and Bianca feel like afterthoughts, or just proponents to move the plot forward

Now once again the story flows along nicely without any major plotholes or general inconsistencies (trust me, that is not as granted as you might think), the artwork complements it very good and once again has a lot of clues for you to solve the current obstacles.
Actually speaking of that, I must say that the book had me fooled once when I thought that they overdid it with Black having to use his Munna to solve that problem until I saw all the details, so they didn't overdo it after all and his actions come along as reasonable.
And while this is the typical story of the, I think, 14 year old kid being smarter and more competent than the adult antagonists, I let it slide here as part of the genre, however only because Black actually is smart, he does figure things out and evolves, he doesn't win just because the plot says so. Albeit once in here it was not all him but really luck, but it made sense when considered all parties involved.
It was also nice to see White be a bit more flexible in her goals. However I still see no point in Bianca being there except to further the plot. Actually there was surprisingly little of her and Cheren in this book, similar to Black's lack of caught Pokemon. That is kind of odd considered this series. You see usually they integrated game rules quite well into this universe (e.g. instead of having just 4 attacks, you simply have the rule that in battles you are only allowed to use 4 attacks) so I do wonder why they didn't do it with catching Pokemon.

Seeing Black and White on their journey makes me want to be in a real journey but I can't especially my mom wouldn't approve of me running off to find amazing pokemon. The big question is: Will Black's Tepig evolve? What will it mean to White's BW talenting agency? Well, I know things will turn out well for Black's sake. Bianca is knocked out unconscious by a certain organization which we know and hate. ;)

If you've already played Pokemon Black/White all the way through, you already know the storyline for this manga adaptation- almost right down to the dialogue. The Pokemon illustrations and the battle depictions are well-drawn though. No Pokemon fan should miss out :)
