Hope Steele has been keeping a secret from her husband. She’s a lesbian. In a moment of weakness, she gets caught in a love affair. Now, she must start all over as a divorced woman with little clue how to navigate the complex world of being single. Along this new path, she gets tangled up in a web of euphoric highs and lows that test her character, friendships, and future. As Hope struggles to preserve what's left of her integrity, what ensues is a dance between right and wrong and truth and forgiveness. This book beats a tantric rhythm as it explores romance, sexuality, women in love, bisexuality, and infidelity.
Suzie Carr is a contemporary novelist, podcaster on the Lesbian Talk Show, avid blogger, and Director of Membership for the Golden Crown Literary Society. When she's not writing, conducting hands-on research, exercising, or blending a green smoothie concoction, she's likely engaged in the sweet memory of her beloved boxers, Sunshine and Bumblebee, enjoying a few giggles over their funny antics and embracing their loving spirit as they undeniably watch over her from the Rainbow Bridge.
Whether it's writing fiction books about love and life, inspiring new authors, advocating for LGBT equality and animal welfare or blogging about community awareness, positive living, taking action and inspiration, Suzie remains passionate in her beliefs!
Suzie's love for the written word started back when she was a child. She enjoyed visiting the library every Saturday to spend hours reading. Books quickly became a constant companion to her and remained as such throughout her childhood.
Soon after graduating from Rhode Island College, Suzie wrote her first novel, The Fiche Room, a coming-of-age novel about two women falling in love. Over the years The Fiche Room grew from its humble e-book origins to an Amazon Kindle best seller receiving glowing reviews. Her upcoming novel, The Pet Boutique, revisits with Emma, Haley, and Goldie from The Fiche Room as they join a new cast of characters in their cameo roles.
With twelve bestsellers on Amazon Kindle, Suzie continues to enjoy writing about the beauty of love and life.
Suzie Carr believes strongly in giving back to the community. She donates a portion of book sale proceeds to the Hearts United for Animals.
I really loved Inner Secrets. The story is entertaining, and the characters are deep. I was also very impressed by the way Suzie Carr adapts her writing when another character is talking. Even if the first change of point of view is surprising we get use to it very easily. I even got eager to read the point of view of the other character on a common event. The journal is also a great idea.
Be careful though, read it when you are alone cause when you start reading you wont enjoy any interruption, this story can get you far away to another world.
Well balanced and well written. This was a great book with minimal flaws. i think i picked out maybe 3 typos in the whole thing. The writing and grammar were smooth and intelligent. For me that is important, as too many books in this genre don't even appear to have been read by an editor even once, which is very distracting.
So, aside from the flowing writing style, the character development and story were very engaging! I am a fan of the different point of view writing style and enjoyed seeing this story unfold from the POV of Hope, Lucy, and the infamous journal (which i guess is just Hope again, but anyhow...) i loved switching into the other character to see how they interpreted what just happened on this seemingly hopeless romantic journey. It was also intelligent and insightful enough to allow the reader to see these characters along their path and ponder different opinions and perspectives on morality and personal growth.
i highly recommend it and will be downloading more from this author.
"I am not a bad person!" Can we say that with conviction even after we have cheated? How does it feel like to be the cheater? And what makes a person cheat in the first place? I have found that in most books the topic of cheating is often dealt with from the outside. We see the impact of the cheating, mostly from the pov of the person being cheated upon. Seldom do we get a glimpse of the inner workings of the culprit. And if we do it is mostly because the woman is a closeted lesbian, thus she cheats on her husband. Isn't it funny that this seems more acceptable and forgivable than if it was done in a same-sex relationship? Enough of the musings. During the course of the book, I felt like I really got to know the two main characters. They are very thoroughly developed, as is to be expected when reading Suzie Carr. Plus their personal growth seems very believable. This book deals with several important issues. What do I do if I messed up? How do I stand up for my own dreams in a relationship? How do I trust? How do I love genuinely?
Most of the book I wanted to either slap Hope or Lucy or both and tell them to get their act together. Adam too. But this was a good book and I recommend reading it.
This is the best story I've read where you get two points of view- i loved the anticipation and eye sex that these two characters had, but I'm a sucker for the journey. Thank you for this story- as a closeted woman, I'm sure there are alot of similar stories out there. Thank God for Happy Endings....gives me hope :)
A story about figuring out who you are and falling in love. I can relate to the characters because I was married when I fell in love with a woman. It’s a cute book and I didn’t want to put it down. Read it!
Oh wow. If I could give this book six stars I would. I've read it twice now, and I'll read it again - and again if I can. The characters ring true to me, and so do their relationships. They have fun, and are fun. But things happen to them, and - well, I won't spoil it. Just take it from me - this is well worth your time to read.
Really enjoyed this book. Something about Suzie Carrs books really reach out to me. I love her characters weakness and strengths. This book was very quick paced. The journal sections broke the book up nicely and I was addicted from the get go.
What a beautifully written, real world look at the pain and joy of life and love. I lack the words to give this book the review it deserves. All I can say is that you need to read this book.
I normally read books by looking at reviews but not this one, I was at the book store and when I read the back, It blew me a way and after I knew I had to read this book!
