L W grew up in Southern California which has given her an appreciation of great weather and outdoor living.

She started writing at 15 when she began keeping a journal of various 'adventures' in her life, such as riding motor cycles through raw sewage, and gluing her hand to the bathroom sink. Most of the outrageous occurrences in her latest book, FLIRTING WITH DISASTER, were taken from those sometimes painful personal experiences.

LW has a degree in International Relations and Political Science and is a confirmed political junkie. She is married and lives with her three children, a needy dog, and three very independent cats.

She is an avid reader and has reviewed several hundred books here at Goodreads over the years.

Jade Caldwell is a high up VP in advertising who survives her male dominated career with sharp wit, hard work, and pure moxie. Growing up with The Colonel as a father and six army brothers has prepared her for anything, until her boss is violently killed in her office and ex-army Derrick Slater comes to the rescue. The bodies keep falling as Jade gets herself into and out of hilarious situations while trying to navigate police, her wise cracking personal assistant Dhavio, and the swarm of overly protective but oh so hunky men in her life!

I bought Flirting With Disaster by new author L.W. Gouett with the intention of a good escape book to read chapter by chapter as a reward at the end of the day. I ended up dumping out puzzles and a movie in front of my kids and hiding in the closet with a bit of chocolate to get to the end. Responsible? No. Fun? Yes.

SPOILERS!!
Loved that the characters were fleshed out enough to make the story interesting. Loved that Jade could be put together in public and as clutzy as the rest of us behind closed doors. Loved that Jade had to handle herself in the end. Would have been so easy to get rescued but she showed she was a girl who could keep cool in a bad situation. Loved the personal assistant. He had me cracking up every time he came on the scene. Would really like to see this author write another book where we can hear more about Derrick's and Tyson's past and see who, in the end, wins out!

Jade Caldwell has six brothers. That says a lot about her personality that she has survived 28 years as the youngest and only girl without killing or turning into a complete nut case.
Jade is a VP in a big company and she does her job right, but that doesn't mean that she hasn't stepped on some toes. She has been single for a longtime when the story opens and in the matter of a few chapters, she is dating two guys and her boss is putting the moves on her (yuck! Sexual harassment).
In one week from the beginning of the story, she is found as a possible murder suspect when her boss is found dead in her office stabbed with her silver letter opener. Looks bad for Jade. But not to worry too much because she still has her close knit family, Slater the possible boyfriend and some good friends. The mystery goes on for only a few days and the super-glue episodes are all unforgettable.
There are quite a few typos and misspelled words, some one should re-read it through again to catch it like 'relly' for really. The amusing banter between the characters, in particular between the siblings were incredibly funny just like a real family.

Clean. Started out great but by the middle I was having a hard time liking Jade. Romance not well developed & neither was the mystery. Too many insignificant characters talked about for no good reason.
