One does not simply walk into a series during Book #5. So I will assume that most of you have read at least part of the Experiment in Terror Series. So I will refrain from explaining stuff that will seem redundant and jump right into....*drum roll* MY REVIEW OF ON DEMON WINGS.

Told entirely in gifs. Cuz I can and everyone should gif the fuck out of this series.

So it begins...

After Lying Season, Perry was left feeling

But she pulled herself together and sucked it up.

Of course, nothing in Perry's life stays normal for long and soon she was questioning herself.

But then Maximus showed up and everything was

But despite all the

Perry was still seeing things...

She was terrified...

Feeling like she was possessed.

Even Creepy Clown Lady showed up but, like usual

Perry was determined to get to the bottom of things, even if it meant performing a cleansing ritual in her house

She wished she had someone who had her back, but everyone seemed to be against her

Except for Ada, thank goodness

And soon she wasn't herself any more.

She knew exactly what lurked in the dark.

And her body was no longer in her control

Only one person could save her...but would he?

You'll have to read to find out. Now...

This book was just...

My main reaction after finishing it...

On Demon Wings is the fifth installment of the amazingly addictive Experiment In Terror series, and to me it was definitely the psychologically most challenging one... It was emotionally exhausting to read all of the things Perry had to go through and the ending wasn't exactly comforting in any way which is why I'll definitely be moving on to the next part of the series ASAP.

The story starts off with Perry feeling quite miserable. Six weeks after the events of Lying Season, she still hasn't fully recovered and she's trying to move on with her life. She tries to start over with a new job and new friends, all to make her memories of the past few months fade away.

But, at the same time, dreams and demons start to haunt her... She feels lost, out of control and unsure of how to deal with any of the events that start happening in her life.

As the demons start doing their work,
Perry starts to feel useless, rejected.

It was terrifying to read; because it felt like it was only a matter of time before something horrible was going to happen... And, to be honest, to me, On Demon Wings was the most scarifying book in the series so far. Not even the haunted animals in Red Fox or the possessed ghosts on The Island of Death terrified me as much as the demons Perry is faced with in this part of the series.
Because this time, the threats are personal, they are way deeper than anything Perry has been faced with before. The demons haunt her and they are on a mission to slowly but surely take over her mind...

Will she be able to fight the demons before they take over her mind completely?

That is for you to find out by reading this remarkable, electrifying and emotional story...

Least favorite characters: Maximus and Perry's parents. With almost each thing they said or did I thought

Favorite character: Ada; only fifteen years old but already so mature for her age. I really loved how she always stood by Perry's side and how she managed to cheer everyone up when needed.

"Ada saves the day?" "I'd like to be good for something other than comic relief," she said with a smile.

Overall, this was again an amazingly written story by Karina Halle, who is quickly becoming one of my new all time favorite authors. I can't wait to find out what the future holds next for Dex and Perry...

“You are in the Thin Veil, the Black Sunshine.”

5 HELL-literally Stars

Darkness consumes you. Darkness surrounds you. Don't be afraid of the darkness around you. Beware of the darkness in your soul.

Karina Halle continues to amazes us, in the 5th installment of the freaking fantastic Experiment in Terror series. Once again her writing style draws you in the story, making you a witness and always reminding you that people and their actions are more horrible than anything paranormal. Yes, even demons.

Gothic and twisted, haunted and full of despair this book chokes you with hopelessness and injustice. Always sarcastic, it makes you laugh when you want to cry. The sheer amount of information in this book will boggle your mind..

6 weeks after the events in Lying Season, Perry is not okay. Our favourite feisty heroine is utterly defeated.

“Did I look like crap because I felt like crap, or did I feel like crap because I looked like crap? Ah, the mysteries of life.”

She lost Dex, her job and her mind in the progress. Her parents are against her and something sinister is coming for her, judging by growls under her bed and the whispers.

Her only rock, is her sister, but even she can't help her against supernatural forces, ultimate acts of betrayals, shocking revelations and devastating events. And ginger bastards..

Sorry for the interruption, but I need a minute...
Maximus I hated you in Red Fox. Now, I LOATHE you. You give all of us redheads a bad name... DIE A SLOW AND PAINFUL DEATH!!!

Sorry... resuming...

Dex' absence in Perry's life is obvious. As is his glorious re-entry. To save the day. But Perry, maybe not. Not without gambling more than he bargained for.

He is determined to make up for past mistakes and beg for a chance. For what he carelessly threw away, more than he knows.

“you, Perry, you deserve a lifetime of servitude. Eons of groveling.”

Charming, irresistible bastard...

As I said, this book reveals a whole spectrum of characters and no one shines as much as Ada's little sister.. 15-year old Ada.

Not a kid anymore, she knows, she understands, she supports, she saves and she goes for the kill..

“Hey, Dex? You still with your floozy girlfriend?”

Reading On Demon Wings, left me strangely satisfied. Yes it is another cliffie, but you can handle it. It answers your questions and solidifies your feelings for these heroes.

Now, it's time for a HUGE decision...
What to read next!

Old Blood? For the Crazy Clown Lady's story?

The Dex-Files? For a wild ride in my beloved Dex' mind?

Or Into the Hollow? Because the cliffhanger will kill me?

Buddy reading with Kristina :))

Perry was left reeling by Dex's rejection...
It is now several months later and Perry is still trying to pick up the pieces of her broken heart...

She try to move on with her life..She has a new jobs and new friends but she still feels devastated by what happened between her and Dex..Also she is starting to fear she is being haunted or perhaps even worse. She is haunted by Abby...

Having no one else to turn to except for her sister Perry finds herself becoming involved with Maximus..who now live in Portland.Maximus has a proposition for Perry. He has recently starting working with Shownet and would like her to join with him to Experiment in Terror with him as a cameraman..Perry does not want to return to the show but she can't help feeling charmed by Maximus and agree to go out with him..

(I was so pissed with Perry..and what happened with her and Maximus -.-)

She starts acting wierd..losing periods time and behaving in a way that shocks everyone around her...

We don't see Dex a lot in this book..He came to help Perry...Dex and Ada take her to a medicine man to have an exorcism...

description description

Creepy clown lady appears again..to help them..
and Dex find a way to save her...

As for the ending I won’t give away much but it was definitely something I didn’t see happening…
The last quarter was just filled with so much…it really was just as intense as Lying Season..

5 Stars!

*Whew* Hands down, most frightening one yet!

If you thought the previous installations in this series have been scary, get ready to have your socks knocked off because On Demon Wings boldly takes the element of fear to a whole new level!

Perry's attempt to run away from her past not only proves futile, but has her running directly into a more horrifying set of circumstances. Evil entities, vengeful ghosts, demonic possessions, and gruesome exorcisms amplify this story's intensity and place Perry directly in the center of these dire events. To pile onto the torment, she's tragically learning that the ones she trusts are not at all who they appear to be. And through most of it ... she's sadly missing Dex...

Ahhhh, good ol' old spice and nicorette gum...Dex—I fiction LOVE YOU!

Although Dex was not present for the majority of the story, his absence allowed his eminent appearance to become THAT much more dramatic and substantial when he finally enters the scene ... and what an electrifying entrance it was! Once again, I am reminded why I fell in love with this eccentric, passionate hero in the first place—and I can honestly say that I was never before more excited to be reunited with a fictional character.

Many of the events that unfold in this installment are not only chilling, but downright horrifying. The plot is largely swallowed up by these fierce occurrences, making this book the scariest one yet. The author does an outstanding job in creating such powerful visuals to the point where the calamity becomes tangible. I was not only sucked into this story, but this action-packed, incredible page turner had me drowning in its intensity ... And although I'd like to savor and prolong this amazingly addictive series, I must know what happens next!

And the Buddy Read continues with the great Vilda!!

Final rating: 5/5 stars

Madness is not a state of mind though...it's a place. Let's go there...
- Alice: Madness returns -

KARINA HALLE, YOU ARE HORROR QUEEN, QUEEN OF SCARING THE **** OUT OF ME!! ( i will leave **** to your imagination, since it can be anything)

This woman, is the definition of horror! I have never been so scared to read a book!

It's one hell of a ride, emotional to the core and fantastic!!!!And "On Demon Wings" just became my favorite book of all EIT books that are out. I cried, i laughed, i was horrified and i was scared.

This story is twisted, shocking, horrifying, and hellish journey into madness....of our dear heroine... Perry Palomino.

This story begins several months after the devastating trip to the Seattle...

Ever since Seattle I’d been dealing with the restlessness I used to get, that nagging urge to be anywhere but here. I felt lost and directionless and my mind always wanted to go back to the happier times, the times when I felt everything was possible. But it wasn’t that way and I had to keep my eye on the prize. I needed to move out, move far away, and start finding myself all over again. My life had reverted to the way it was before I met Dex in that lighthouse. Though, perhaps I was a bit wiser.

Perry is falling appart... She is becoming someone else... someone angry... bitter... devastated... and utterly broken...

And she used to feel alive...

But she slowly loses control of her emotions, of her life...

“Perry, we all just want to help you.”
That’s what they always said. Everyone always wants to help but no one ever wants to believe me.

Dex is gone... she cannot comprehend... she can't cope with it...And her demons are slowly .... taking control.

She feels like she is drowning... But her demons know how to swim...

This book changed everything we knew about EIT universe ... It revealed the ugly truth and it revealed so many things that were forgotten... This book was completely and utterly devastating . And with each page, my heart broke into pieces...

Some of the old characters return, and some of them are absent... Some will annoy you, some will make you despise them and some you will love...

This series... is one of the best series that i have ever read. Because it's is so well done, and because the books get better and better. I never expected to love these books so much, but here i am... loving it :)

Our hearts are magnets.

This was was me yesterday !!!
Me today :

"And then I heard a noise I never thought I’d hear. The consistent drone of a wasp flying around somewhere near my head. I froze automatically, my breath stopped and I didn’t blink."

And just when you thought Perry's past was way behind her , it creeps back into her life silently as though waiting for the right time to show itself and wreck havoc !!

Soooo , I finished reading 'On Demon Wings'last night and maaan was I miffed !! Now dont think that I was pissed at the way the book ended ! I was actually mad at the way certain characters were behaving at the end of that book !!!!! I am still standing firm on my idea of gunning down these characters !!!!

src="http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k231/argonzero/gif/shooting2A.gif" border="0">

Yeah , I was mad and then I thought I possibly cant write a review in this state of mind . So I decided to do the next best thing - go to sleep .. Unfortunately , that did'nt work out because my mind was all caught up with the events that transpired in this book and everything just kept playing out like a movie trailer - a really long movie trailer .

I couldn't write a review , I couldn't sleep so I did the next best thing - I READ THE BOOK AGAIN !! AND I LOVED IT ALL OVER AGAIN !!! I know silly me , but I cant be blamed , I just love Karina Halle's writing style , her imagination and creativity ! She is just sooooo AWESOME ! Alright then , lets get on with the review !!!

Perry's life has crumbled into bits and pieces and she's trying very , really very hard to put it back into one piece . She's trying to move on , forget and let go of her past as though it never existed . But if only that could be true ! If the only the past could let go of her and not haunt her instead . Somethings not right . And Perry can feel it , sense it . And whatever this 'wrong 'is means only harm and destruction . Will Perry survive or succumb to this evil that wants to harm her and those around her ... You will just have to read it to find out the answers and believe it ..

Firstly cover speak : This cover had me going

Excited gif. Pictures, Images and Photos

for the most part .... I was trying to figure out , trying to process what this book could be all about .. Absolutely loved it , the color , the whole foresty feel to it .. pure amazingness * Ghosh i'm creating my own words here !! !!!

Things I really loved/Enjoyed about this book :

I would'nt say that this instalment of the Experiment In Terror series was by far my most favourite , but it had me really spooked and also made my cry and feel terribly at loss of words for Perry ...

There were times where I was

src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f290/headlesspanda/GIF/tumblr_lqvp3cgNqA1qfk3gu.gif" border="0">

just beacuse I couldn't imagine all the shit that Perry was going through , and then there were times I was

screaming my lungs out because I thought something was in the room with me while I was reading ODW !!! Hell , I swear there was an incident where I actually felt someone whispering right behind me

alt="shocked gif Pictures, Images and Photos"/>

And then there are the sicky icky things that appear in this book . The kind of things that make you go

src="http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll36/Bigsteve87/Gifs/2qkqn1x.gif" border="0">

I could only imagine how Perry must have felt about everything that was going on with her . I seriously wanted to cry my eyes out !!!

src="http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv192/blackonice/GIFS/gif_sobbing01-1.gif" border="0">

You might wonder why ?? Well its all Karina Halle's doing !!! She has managed to make me fall in love with her characters so much that ... that they feel so real . You cant help but feel their pain , understand their dilemma and their despair . I wanted to hug Perry and tell her its gonna be okay , tell her that she was'nt alone and that we'd fix everything for her

Thats the beauty of Karina Halle's writing . She'll have you loving , hating , laughing , swearing , blushing at her characters . You are truly awesome !!

This book was a ride to hell and back !!! Some questions were answered , giving way to new unanswered questions ... Pippa was lovable , Dex had me 'ooh'íng and 'aah'ing for him , Ada was a treat to read about , Hated a lot of characters and I cant wait to know more !!!! So looking forward to more from Karina Halle !!!

P.S : If you hav'nt checked out this series yet then

Check it out now .. what are you waiting for !!!!

This song was actually palying in my head when I was reviewing the book in my mind !! Love it !!

This one is my FAVORITE of the Experiment in Terror series. You want to know why? Because it scares the shit outta me. Even on the rereads, it's still terrifying.

One day I shall do a proper review. But today, I am going to pick the kindle back up and dive right into book 6. These books are seriously that good.

“Perry,” he said quietly, his fingers trailing down the side of my face, “you’ll never have to save my life. You gave me life. I never lived a single day until the day I first met you.”

Yes I'm powering through this series because this book is COMPLETELY UNPUTDOWNABLE! I read it in one complete sitting till the wee hours of the morning because it's JUST. THAT. GOOD.

I don't even care if I nearly peed on my bed reading this. Or the fact that I was too spooked to even leave my bedroom to go to the toilet after this one. Honestly, who the heck reads demonic possession book past midnight?! Well that would be me but still.

A quick review in GIFs because my words will not be able to do justice to this amazeballs book.

After the ending of Book 4, Perry is back at her home at Portland. She's been trying to move on but all she feels is constant emptiness and barely making through each day.

But strange things starts happening to Perry. She often loses periods of time, she doesn't remember doing certain things or how she ends up in other places.

All of these seems to point at demonic possession but no one believes her. Her parents, her doctor and Maximus (I'd like to punch him in the nuts) think she's losing it.

And it really starts to get outta hand & she slowly starts to lose control of her mind and body.

Perry's sister, Ada was the only one who believed her and saved her in time by bringing Dex back (FINALLY! AMEN!) .

And this is mostly my reaction the entire time:

All I can say that it was emotionally exhausting and absolutely terrifying.

Karina Halle absolutely outdone herself and I am completely floored by her writing. She is not only just capable of striking terror but also allowing us to connect to Perry on a whole new level. I even shed some tears because it was so heartbreaking to watch Perry struggled through everything alone :'(

I know a lot of people were upset with the lack of Dex in this one, but it really made the wait worthwhile when he finally made his appearance. My shipper heart soared with overwhelming happiness and trust me, every minute of them back together was PERFECTION ♥♥♥♥♥

"You have every right to hate me for this lifetime and many others. You have every right to never see me again. To spit on my grave. But tonight, now I'm not going to give up on you. I'm going to fix you, or die trying".

Dex Foray, you have ruined all men for me right now. I can't wait to get inside your little head with your POV-based novella ;D

Thank You Karina Halle for bringing this fan-fucking-tastic series to my attention last year...you Rock!

"Perry," he said quietly, his fingers trailing down the side of my face, "you'll never have to save my life. You gave me life. I never lived a single day until the first day I met you."

At the end of Lying Season...I was litterally D-YING!! Being a huge supporter of Dex and Perry's relationship I wanted to KILL Dex when he did what he did..while also realizing his utter remorse soon after! All the push and pull and whatnot with those two is what really makes this series quite feckin' entertaining. Add that to all the supernatural shit that goes on and you got a winner! On Demon Wings was definitely my favorite of the series! Even though I felt that way about each one....I still feel the same. In this installment Perry goes through a lot of ups and downs, trying the heal and create a new life for herself sans Dex. Still seeing ghosts and trying to have a more positive look on life, Perry faces her most challenging battle to date. Her lows were so great in regards to her heart break it was hard to fathom at times. Karina Halle does a fantastic job of making you feel the hurt then the next thing you know....BAM! Some shit goes down and you're like..."What the fuck?!". I know when I went to the kitchen to get some water last night...I was freaking the freak out!!

One of the things I loved about this book was Perry and Ada's relationship...it was good to see them start to trust each other and count on one another. I really think Perry should listen to her lil sis more especially in regards to a certain someone...but I wont name cuz Im not gonna spoil nothing;) Said someone is a complete douchecanoe(God I love that word) if you ask me....but whatevs!

All in all, Winner winner chicken dinner, I say! I loved every second of it and was scared shitless to boot! Anytime you're thanking someone for creating something that Literally made you almost piss your pants is saying something! Alls Im saying is read this series at night....see where that gets you! But seriously...READ THIS BOOK....it really is the most original, scary, most fantastic, dark and gritty series out there! BTW...That cover is sick and it makes so much sense now!

".......You have every right to hate me for this lifetime and many others. You have every right to never see me again. To spit on my grave. But tonight, now, I'm not going to give up on you or," his voice fell with weight, "die trying."

I have decided to rate this book a 4.5 stars. The only reason for that is that I truly missed Dex for most of the book. It did make me realize how big of a part he plays in the enjoyment factor in these stories. Yes, Perry is awesome too; but it is more how they are together that makes the book. (in my opinion!) Their friendship truly enhances each book, and I begin to think that if Dex wasn't in them, my like factor would drop a great deal! It is ironic that I came to this conclusion as after the last book, I was seriously not liking Dex too much. His actions really irked me, and I was thinking that Perry could do way better!! When Dex finally does make an appearance in this installment, it was like having a long lost friend show up at the door. I was literally dancing around, and feeling relieved the he had come back!! Do I sound like I am too involved in this series? I most certainly agree! I have fallen hard for this thrilling series that Karina Halle has brilliantly written! It will be up there with the best of the best for me!

I will say that this book has been the scariest so far for me. I have always had a deep fear for possesions and movies like the Excorist. Karina Halle did an amazing job of writing Perry being possessed, and the battle that was going on inside of her mind between good and evil. I also felt Perry's sister Ada became a big part in this story, and I adore her. Perry is in a very dark place, and some very awful things happen to her. My heart bled for her, and I could totally feel right along side of her as she was dealing with all sorts of emotions. There were some big reveals, and as always there are still more questions that pop up too. Not all of the characters are looking out for the best interest when it comes to Perry; but her sister and a few others stay at Perry's side, and tuly want what is best for her.

I can't wait to see how all of this will unfold in the future books, and I'm especially eager for Dex's POV coming up in a novella! I am just so glad that there are still more books to read.. I can't get enough, and I hope that Karina Halle keeps this series going for a long time to come!
August 28, 2013
Well, if you've read the last book, Lying Season, you know what the beginning of this book is about! And it's depressing and heart breaking. Unfortunately for Perry, that's not all that she has to deal with....she's not feeling well and she's having dreams again....

FRICK!! Can't Perry ever catch a break? Seriously, dealing with the heart break and then the you know what would be horrible by itself but then she's dealing with Abby and...demons. That's right, demons. And it's hard for Perry to know what's real and what's not.

Enter Maximus....you heard me, Maximus. Ugh! Just what Perry doesn't need but at the time, it seemed like he could help....and he does try but he's sleazy and I just don't trust him! I hate what Perry did but I can understand her motives.

Thank goodness for Ada...I love her. What a great sister but I hate what's happening with her. Perry is lucky to have her though...things would have turned out much differently without her.

Seventy-five percent, baby....75%, just hang on till then and you will get....

Three guesses who that is!! I was very happy to see him!

The "ghost" story is probably the most creepiest so far. I don't want to say anything to give it away but don't read it at night if you're a big scaredy cat! ;)

There's a lot of drama especially dealing with Abby and the demons. Pippa is a bit weird but we finally do get some answers and they're pretty much what I expected all along....just not sure where things will go from here.

The ending? Another killer ~sigh~ I've decided to quit fighting it and just read the next books one after the other till I O.D. Strangely, I have a feeling I will still be addicted. ;)

1.5 stars

Very early on in my reading adventures I decided that having 1.5 star ratings was pointless. Because if a book was bad enough to get a 1, there was no point in giving it half a star more. And this has worked perfectly for me until today.
On Demon Wings by itself was bad enough to get 1 star, but my commitment and love for the previous books in the series made me want to give it half a star more.

This book was a terrible waste of time. Absolutely nothing happens in this book, nothing. The author's review of the book describes literally (seriously, I checked and bookmarked) literally 73% of this former tree bark.

People, this is bad! The main character was one of the dumbest most annoying heroines I have ever read about. And if you've been following my reviews so far you would know that that is saying something.
Perry spends 4 books hunting ghosts and dealing with the paranormal. So she has to have at least some knowledge about ghosts and possession and things that don't make sense, right? WRONG! She spends 73% of the book being a stupid clueless meathead. She sees a literal demon with red eyes and shark teeth and she's like "wow someone actually had their teeth made like that?". She sees the TV turn on, baby slippers finding their way out of the garbage can and she's like "wow who did this?". She is so clueless it's painful to read. If this was a book about a random person getting possessed I'd excuse all these behaviors and enjoy the creepy with her, but this is a literal ghost hunter with experience and ghosts who have warned her about literal demons. She sees ghosts on a regular basis for goodness sake! She cannot possibly be this dumb. Being in her head was exhausting. We all knew exactly what was happening. There was no surprise, nothing cool, nothing fun, nothing that would keep you going. A bunch of "creepy" stuff happens but in the light of her idocy they become annoying. This book should have been half its size.

Oh, and who is the one person who can save her? Of course, the fucking love-interest. You can't even consider this a spoiler because that's how obvious it is! This book was written by a 1 year old for a 5 year old. It had no purpose or direction.
These books are becoming stretched out parts of a bigger book that have been diced and sliced and truned into more books to make more profit for the author.

I am raging because I actually liked this series and now everything is ruined and I hate everything about it!
Do yourself a favor and read the author's review of the book and I will tell you the remaining 27% that she says you gotta read the book to find out so you can hold on to your precious brain cells.
Basically the hero saves the day and the heroine makes the dumbest most illogical decision of all time and gets them both in deep shit so we'd be forced to buy the next stupid book and be fooled all over again.

I am so done. Fuck this. I don't even know if I wanna find out what the hell happens in this stupid series. I have never been so enraged!

Oh My God, this was crazily fantastic!!! There are no doubts that Karina is amazing author. This book was full of surprises and I was seriously overwhelmed with all that happened in this book.

After cliffhanger in Lying Season, I immediately started book 5. Things were pretty negative and depressive for Perry at the beginning, it seemed like plenty of bad and sad things were coming her way. It was breaking my heart to see Perry struggling with her life situations. And than she started losing her mind. Literally. Things got weird, creepy and she had noone to count on. Only Ada. Oh yes, Ada, the best sister in the world. I really liked her in this book, that is for sure.

Things were super freaky in On Demon Wings. All the ghost-possession-mind-losing stuff really scared me and I found most of the is very believable which made things for me even scarier. Everything felt more dangerous and creepier in this book, especially when Dex was not arround. I had scary goose bumps more often than during previous books in these series and On Demon Wings seriously gave me creeps.

So far I thought that Jennifer L. Armentrout is master of cliffhangers. But considering the one in this book, Karina definitely accomplished the level of I-have-to-read-next-book-like-now-otherwise-I-will-go-crazy with her cliffhanger. So seriously poeple, go and read these series!!!

***4.75 Terrifyingly Possessed Stars***

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

“Perry, we all just want to help you.”

That’s what they always said. Everyone always wants to help but no one ever wants to believe me.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

It's been several months since Perry left without a backwards glance from Dex's apartment. They have been filled with sadness and anger, but she is moving on with her life. She is different, yet still the same. Perry now has a part-time job to replace the one she had as "ghost hunter" on Experiment In Terror. But soon, things start to become a blur. She literally cannot remember some moments in her waking life. She finds her self in places without knowing why she is there, it's like her brain blanks out. Slowly, Perry finds she is unable to control herself. She is haunted and each incident is much worse than the last. But what will happen to her, when everyone doubts what she sees, and hears. She is not crazy. That's what she thinks, anyways.

I am not kidding... this book had me completely horror-struck. Everything terrible that happened to Perry, had me covered in goosebumps. I feared for her so much and I didn't know what could be done to stop it. I felt so much anger that no one was taking her seriously. Her family... TERRIBLE! I hated them! How could they not try to be more open to what their daughter was telling them. I disliked them for still continuing to deny what was so obviously happening. Instead they plead insanity to it all. The only one I really LOVED was Perry's sister, Ada. She was the rock Perry desperately needed during that tormenting time. She was AWESOME! Maximus on the other hand... a total DOUCHECANOE!! Nuff said.

The spiders (Worst nightmare come to life)

The red-eyed demons

Oh and let's not forget the exorcism. But I will NOT be putting a gif for that, sorry but no can do. I am NOT going to even search it. It's so very horrifying!! All I think about is the movie and that gave me nightmares so... NO!! *shudders*

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"...Perry, you deserve a lifetime of servitude. Eons of groveling. Even then, I don't think I can show you enough, do enough to let you see. And that's OK... But tonight, now, I'm not going to give up on you. I'm going to fix you or," his voice fell with weight, "die trying."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Dex comes back to save the day. I missed Dex so much in this book, which is why I couldn't give this book 5 stars. I just felt like he is very important and needs to be in it. Instead we got stuck with Maximus, whom I always distrusted and was now proved right for doing so. *Deep breath* Anyways, I LOVED that Dex finally showed up. *sigh*

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"I guess I have to save your life at some point now," I said. "To make things even."
"Perry," he said quietly, his fingers trailing down the side of my face, "you'll never have to save my life. You
gave me life. I never lived a single day until the day I first met you."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Again, the ending freaking killed me!! Why did it have to end like this. I am so ANGRY and so SCARED!!! Stupid cliffhanger. I NEED to know what happens to them. I am not liking where this is heading but I will continue. I just have too. Hopefully, all will take a turn for the better...

On Demon Wings is what nightmares are made of and by far the scariest of all the books in this series (so far). I personally would have moved out of that house after

My heart was breaking for Perry as I read this book. She has lost her best friend and partner. Her family thinks she has lost her mind and is trying to hurt herself. She is fired from her job because she was becoming a liability to her workplace.

Perry is on her own now. She is starting over without Dex. Her life has taken a downward spiral.
Did I look like crap because I felt like crap, or did I feel like crap because I looked like crap? Ah, the mysteries of life.

Dex is a man on a mission. He is going to save Perry from her fate. I finally fell in love with Dex. I liked Max in Red Fox but now I can't stand him.

Perry is being possessed by demons and they want to own her soul. She's a good girl who has never done anything to hurt anyone so she questioning why this is happening to her.
Why me? WHY ME?
Her answers came in the most unlikely form of marks on her skin.
Your Fault. His Fault.

There is a huge! HUGE! Cliffhanger! It CAN'T end like that!!!

Yep, that was pretty much what i was doing while reading it...

Anyway, let's go back to the story, shall we?

After the ending of Lying season, or what i like to call THE MOTHER OF ALL CLIFFHANGERS, Perry, our kick ass heroine is on rock bottom.

No matter how hard I barked and growled and tried to run, I was chocked back, chained for life, and would never ever be free. I was only 23 years old. I never did anybody any harm. Why me?

It was painful to read, to feel how depressed Perry was. How she needed to pull herself together and getting constantly knocked down by her inner demons.

But not everything is what it seems...Perry starts to forget some parts of her day, to not recognize some of her actions.
To not recognize herself in the mirror...
It's like she is on auto-pilot and someone is taking over her body.

Is she going crazy?
Or is something darker trying to possess her? To end her life?

Oh yes, this book is SCARY ...and most of all it is scary because we just feel helpless. We want to help her. But at least for me, I was also freaking out.
Seriously, the intensity of it all, will knock you in your feet.

Now,about Maximus...

I DON'T LIKE YOU. That it's all.

Oh and i love Ada, she is just awesome.

So to finish, this was another AMAZING installment in the series, that makes you crave for more.
Nothing new, right? ;)

I never thought while reading this series that it would be one to hurt my heart. I've felt the gamut of other emotions, but despair and hopelessness weren't something I was prepared for. I should have known, I should have expected that Halle had even more in store for Perry. In On Demon Wings, she nearly broke me.

If you haven't read the previous books (all the way through Lying Season), Don't read my spoilers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You've been warned!

This story picks up pretty much directly after Perry is back at her parent's house again, but she's not alone. In more ways than one, she's not alone. Aside from her ever-loyal "Little Fifteen", Ada, she's got something else with her.

Whatever it is begins to take over Perry's life. Her mind is lost in fits and starts, and she has periods of time in which she can't even recall living. Not only that, but her emotions seem to affect objects around her...anger starts fire, and nightmares become reality. She sees burning, malevolent eyes in the darkness...

and there is darkness everywhere for her. Soon, Perry starts to realize that the darkness...the demon...is in HER.

It gets to the point that Perry can't sleep. She starts breaking down. Her mind can't handle the pressure, and she's so very alone...gah, it's just heartbreaking!! There is fear in the eyes of her loved ones...they know something is going on with her, and when Perry starts to do things that endanger them and herself, the proverbial sh** hits the fan, and the situation explodes.

Again, Dex....Always DEX!!!

"I'd gone from thinking we'd always be connected in some way, that we were the same person separated a long time ago, to having not idea at all. I was here, going through hell, and he had absolutely no idea. He really was cut and gone."

Dex is sorely missed in this installment of the Experiment in Terror series. That is not to say that his absence detracted from the story. Once again, Karina Halle proves that she excels at building suspense, drawing out a scenario until you think you're going to SHATTER if the tension isn't relieved. Perry has never needed Dex more, but she also can't take being with him any more. She's alone, alone, alone....and close to breaking.

In steps Maximus, and while his good ole boy southern charm seems like it's helping Perry, I often had the feeling that he had ulterior motives. Another cry for the long lost Dex from me! And don't worry folks, the man does show up eventually...at the point that you just can't stand it any more, and the last piece of Perry is barely hanging on...here comes Dex...

What an intense ride this book was!!! It's another un-put-downable read in this remarkable series. Seriously, I have lost so many hours of sleep over this series. It's practically turned me into a zombie myself!!!!!! Think Dex will come save ME?

Another book in the EIT series that in the end left us with a huge...

Before I start I would like to say thanks to Max because the guy finally gave me another male to hate in the series. Compared to him Dex is a ray of sunshine.

It's been three months since Perry last saw Dex and he broke her heart, now she tries to recover but her mind and body don't seem to agree. After a new major shock she finds herself losing time, doing things that she wouldn't normally do and worst of all is that she can't seem to remember them afterwards. Her parents seem to think that she is going crazy but luckily for her she knows that this isn't true.

What happens to Perry is much more sinister. What haunts her this time isn't content with staying on the backround. It will demand her body, her mind, her whole life. But Perry isn't ready to give up without a fight.

Karina Halle brings one more monster out to play. This time Perry will have to fight not her inner demons, but actual, living ones. Will she be strong enough?

In this book Perry will gain a precious ally in her sister but she will be betrayed by almost everyone else. The first man she let in her life after Dex broke her heart, the friends she made but more importantly her parents will all betray her trust in some way.

I couldn’t even trust my own parents anymore.

The most beautiful surprise in this book was Ada. This girl is a badass waiting to happen. She helps Perry, protects her and covers for her when most people would have made a run for it!

“You still with your floozy girlfriend?”
He gave her an incredulous look. “Obviously not.”
She smacked him on his arm. “Don’t look at me like I asked a stupid question. Because it not a stupid question at all, and you damn well know it.”
“So you broke up with her?”
“Yes,” he said sharply.
“Way to find your balls, man,” Ada congratulated him and sat back in her seat.”

Then we have Dex who makes an appearance in the end to save the day. I wouldn't believe it but I actually missed him. Is he still a jerk? Well yes, but he gives life to the story!

"I don’t think I’ll ever be able to tell you how sorry I am. It doesn’t mean I won’t try, because you, Perry, you deserve a lifetime of servitude. Eons of groveling. Even then, I don’t think I can show enough, do enough to let you see."

And closing we have Pippa. Creepy Clown Lady seems to be one thing Dex and Perry have in common. She is there to help Perry when she needs her the most. Living in another world Pippa tries to see to Dex and Perry's safety as much as she can!

“You are in the Thin Veil, the Black Sunshine.”

I love CCL, I can't help it!

Warning...may contain spoilers.... although I'm really trying to keep it vague!!

I don't even know where to start on this review. This story scared the crap out of me!! It did not go how I had imagined it would AT ALL. Not that I had any inkling how the drama would unfold. But WOW...this one really threw me!!! Let's just say, almost everything I didn't want to happen DID and then some!! And everything I wanted to happen...DIDN'T (not even CLOSE)!!! And that is really all I'm going to say about that. But anyway, here's the gist...

On Demon Wings is the fifth installment of the Experiment in Terror series, and it begins with Perry returning to Portland, after her fall out with Dex in Seattle. And let's just say that things are not going well for her. She has given up on Dex, and the show, as well as any connection what-so-ever to Seattle and any of her friends there. She's got a new crappy job, a new phone number, a new email address, and a new and very serious problem to deal with, :( and no anchor to help her through it!

I couldn't go into future job interviews and say, "Well, my worst quality is that I'm often haunted by ghosts. That and procrastination."

This was not a feel good story...in fact I can't think of one truly happy moment in the book for Perry. Ok... maybe just one...but it was short-lived (very short-lived). It was sad, and heart wrenching to read, and I just really wanted it to be over. I honestly don't know how Perry survived it. I think, no...I know I would have thrown in the towel waaaaay before the end.

...And now this. I was fired from a fucking coffee shop, of all places, for something that wasn't my fault and would never be my fault, yet I was tethered to it like a dog on a short chain. No matter how hard I barked and growled and tried to run, I was choked back, chained for life, and would never ever be free.

This story really took the series a bit deeper into the horror genre.. with some incredibly scary and down right disgusting things going on. You also lose sight of who the good guys are and who the bad ones are. Perry doesn't know if there is really anyone she can trust now. In her despair, she decides to put her love and trust into only one person... her little sister, Ada. She tries to trust her parents, she tries to trust her coworkers and even Maximus. But in the end... it's only Ada who will take her back, and get her what she will need to survive.

He was still a douchecanoe. The douchecanoe who was going to paddle me to safety.

Once things start to go bad for Perry, Ada becomes much more involved in her life. Ada helps her through some really rough times and seems to be the only one who believes the truth of what is happening to her. Ada was a fabulous character. She is an old soul with a big mouth. And she's not afraid to use it. She is very protective of Perry, and really goes to battle for her. She also survives through some really scary shit, without losing her mind... which is truly amazing, considering that she's only 15. And most of all, she loves Perry, and really KNOWS her. It is apparent in the end, that Ada will do whatever it takes to keep Perry safe. I look forward to see where the series will take her role from here.

"Way to find your balls, man," Ada congratulated him and sat back in her seat.

All that said, I'm still giving this story 5 stars... yes it was painful, and frustrating, and had an ending that pissed me the fuck off!!!! But it was also riveting, extremely creative, and it pulled out all of the stops for evoking emotion!!! Ok...NEGATIVE EMOTION.... but emotion nonetheless. It was chilling, and suspenseful, and it kept my heart racing from beginning to end.

He was a strong man and a weak man all at once. A friend once, a lover last. A father in another lifetime. Now nothing. But he was going to try to save me all the same.

I'm already onto the next book in the series!! It can't get any worse....right?...

This book made me feel nothing but

Perry is all alone after what happened in Lying Season. Step by step she picks the pieces of her broken heart from the ground. She cut all the strings, she broke all the contact, but everything is still too present.
She is thankful that she has Ada, with whom her connection grows stronger, because her parents are still not very supportive.
Especially not when Perry starts to change.

Weird, supernatural things start to happen and while Maximus tries to explain them with Perry being haunted, her house being haunted, Perry explains it with something different. Something more terrifying.

She loses control over her thoughts, over her words. Slowly after that she loses control over her actions and over her consciousness. And everything changes.
She cannot be trusted. She doesn't trust herself anymore and she knows whose fault it is. Perry knows the name of the person and this knowledge terrifies her even more.

Honestly, it is one thing to read about Perry and Dex traveling to some haunted place and completely another to read about a house being haunted out of nothing. And it is even worse to read from a possessed person's POV.
Saying that I was scared is more than an underestimation. I was numb from fear. I freaked at some points because it was so lively written.

This book was the scariest from the whole series. The haunting was going much deeper in this book, it was much more real and disturbing.
Perry had to face her personal fears and demons and so did her family though she and Ada handled everything far better than their parents.
Perry stayed true to herself and she fought and this is why I admired and respected her in this book. She knew who was after her and though the fear was constantly nagging on her, she faced it.
Ada on the other hand had not the slightest idea what was going on but, damn, this girl was tough! She supported her sister and she made decisions not every grown-up person would be able to make. She was without any doubts the hero of this book, I loved her.
As for the last 20% of the book... I thought I would lose sleep for the whole next week.

This book starts 6 weeks after the events of Lying Season.
During that time Perry was in a really bad place, she had lost her job, her best-friend and the man she loved, and had to go back to her parent’s house.

“I nodded dumbly, feeling useless, rejected.

But when things are finally start to get better: she has a new job and is starting to make new friends… darkness appears again. And this time worse than ever.

Things that catch fire suddenly, visions, people that shouldn’t be there, things that she did and has no memory of, noises that come from the roof and under her bed, strange feelings, messed up dreams… things aren’t looking good for Perry.
But this time is not a job, is not some random haunting that she’s got to catch on tape. This time she’s the one being haunted. And whatever it is that’s messing with her… well, it’s only starting.

Thankfully, the only one who can really help her is back and Dex is more than determined to do whatever it takes to make Perry be okay again.
Unfortunately, it can already be too late.

This was definitely the scariest and more f***ed up of all the books in this series, at least so far. Skinwalkers, ghosts, zombie-like creatures had NOTHING on this.
Because this time it was personal.
I didn’t know when something was really happening or it was just Perry losing her mind. I had this feeling through the whole book that she was going to lose it at any moment, or that something completely horrible was going to happen.
I had my heart on my hands during the whole book, and believe me, there was parts that were a completely mind-fuck. And the more we found stuff and some questions were finally answered, the mind-fuck only grew bigger.
I didn’t know what the hell was happening, all I knew was that I was missing Dex like crazy, wanted to severely hurt Maximus and slap the hell out of her parents. And kiss Ada: did I already told how awesome she is?? For a Little Fifteen she is really mature and during a great deal of the book the only true supporter of Perry.

Well, anyway. This was awesome (apparently that’s the only word that comes to my mind when I think about describing these books!).
To the next one, now! :D

Book 5 in the Experiment in Terror series picks up six weeks after the events that finished off the last book, and we find Perry trying to pick up the pieces of her life after everything fell apart. She still so angry, and so full of hate, but mostly she’s just broken, and it’s devastating to watch.

"All I had to do was think about how scared I was and how alone I felt. All I had to do was wish I had someone at my side who would know what was wrong with me and do whatever they could to fix me. I had that once, and I didn't have it anymore."

The things she goes through in this book just floored me. One scene in particular had me full on, flat out sobbing. It took me ages to compose myself, it was so absolutely heartwrenching! There is still creepiness that goes on, but most of Perry’s battle is emotional and psychological (and because of that, is probably more terrifying than zombie lepers and ghosty fishermen). Her freaky-ass dreams continue, and she endures intense mindfuckery that builds and builds until she finds her very sanity challenged.

Because the book is so focussed on Perry’s journey, there is not a lot of Dex, and I so missed him! But he does show up (accompanied by much squeeing from this very excited little reader) and every little moment with him is absolute gold! He was also destroyed after the events of the last book, but he is now full of remorse and changed from the Dex he used to be... And, as every hero should be, he is there when Perry needs him the most, and as soon as I saw this - “Hey, kiddo … It’s just me.” - I promptly burst into tears (again). He even got a bit swoony

But there are still some major obstacles standing in the way for Dex and Perry, so it’s not all happy endings just yet.

Thank God for Ada, she really shone in this book! The relationship between the two sisters is developing beautifully and, despite only being 15, I loved how protective she was over Perry, being a support for her, and constantly standing strong by her side - she certainly needs somebody to stand up for her, because her parents are total douchecanoes! And her sass brought some much needed lightness.

“You still with your floozy girlfriend?” Ah, there is was. The elephant in the car…
He gave her an incredulous look. “Obviously not.”
She smacked him on his arm. “Don’t look at me like I asked a stupid question. Because it not a stupid question at all, and you damn well know it.”
“So you broke up with her?”
“Yes,” he said sharply.
“Way to find your balls, man,” Ada congratulated him and sat back in her seat.

There are also some notable cameos from characters that have appeared in earlier books. Good and bad, I was (mostly) happy to see them again, and love how they have been carried through.

This is an intensely dark, and gut wrenching read, but OMG, it’s written brilliantly! I could feel Perry’s pain and hopelessness as she fought so hard to deal with everything that was being thrown at her. She’s an amazing character, and even though it was brutal at times, I really loved this book! And holy cliffhanger endings - this one is brutal. As always, I’ll be carrying straight on!

I just finished this book and about threw it across the room in frustration over the ending. Then I remembered I was reading it on my Kindle and well, Kindle + wall = no more Kindle. So I decided to come here instead to release my frustrations. Frustrations that have to do with the fact I now have to wait to find out the fate of Dex and Perry and I think I may die in anticipation.

This book was right up there with Lying Season for me. While LS still is my number one favorite of the series so far, ODW is a very close second. Which suprised me because Dex is not in it for about 77% of the book. And I do love me some Dex. But I love Perry too and this book had some serious shit going down for my beloved quirky heroine.

Perry is lost and broken after what happened between her and Dex. He broke her heart into a million tiny fragments and she has to figure out how to pick up and move on after the life she loved is turned on its head. She is alone and scared and eventually, possessed. But that part is the part that causes all the problems. Because even as hard as she is trying to forget Dex and move on, a piece of him in the form of a demon-loving dead ex-girlfriend decides to haunt her and allow a demon to possess her. You know, just another typical day in Perry's world. This poor girl. Every time I think enough has happened to her a new horrifying level of evil attacks her. And the huge problem this time is the one person who can save her is no longer in her life.

I was frustrated a lot when reading this book. Frustrated with Perry's parents for not believing her and wanting to turn to hospitalization as a cure for her demon ways. Frustrated with a new douchecanoe in the form of a tall red-headed man with an alternative mission. Frustrated with Perry herself because even as much as she was hurting and trying to scrape her way back, I kept shouting at her (yes I shout at the characters in books, don't you) to call Dex, he could save her!

Thank goodness for Ada, the voice of reason, both in the douchecanoe snuffing outtage and calling in the calvary. I loved how close the two sisters got in this book and how Ada has now seen first hand what horrors her sister has experienced. She has always believed Perry, but seeing and believing are two different hings. And now they are on the same page. Which scares me for Ada because now she is as vulnerable as Perry when it comes to the intentions of their parents.

On a personal note, the miscarriage just wrecked me. I felt for Perry, having to go through something like that alone and all the while it reminding her in the worst way of the one person she was trying so hard to forget. And then when Dex finds out, in such an abrupt way, his reaction broke my heart. I can only hope that, and so much more, is resolved in the next book. Which has to be coming out soon? Right? PLEASE?? That kind of cliffhanger is not something I can stand for long. Not when I love these characters so much and feel for them. I care about how things end up, and they feel so real to me I can imgaine all this going down up there in the Pacific Northwest.

The horror quotient was racheted up a whole lot in this book and I couldn't have been more happy. There were times when I was legitimately scared, the shadow in the house being one specific part, and had to turn more lights on. And again, poor Perry is stuck in the middle of all the scary shit and this time it quite literally almost pulled her apart.

Brilliant work, and I can't wait for the next book!

(Oh my god. I don't even know what to say.
I just finished reading this, and I just got it this morning.

The book? Great.
The ending? I really hope this (book 6) doesn't go the way I think it will, given how ODW ended. I clearly could not take that.
These two need a HEA - not what I think is coming.

Gads, I hope I'm wrong.)

As a rule, I don't write reviews for books that either I really liked or just plain loved (it's only a time thing), but if it really moves me to do so, I will. It makes me wonder why I couldn't write one for this series because at some point in a 5 book series, I should have.
The light bulb went on last night and I figured it out.
I love it too much. That may seem weird to some, but it's true. When I REALLLLLLLY love a book, I just know that if I start writing about it, I'll give everything away and everyone will hate my guts for the spoilers I threw down.

When I'm reading these books - or talking about them, walking by them or thinking of them - I get stressed for my new 'friends' - it's actually anxiety. There are maybe 10 books in my life that made me feel this way which is why I didn't recognize it, and now that I know - I want to say this:

Read this series if you love having something other than the same old crap they've been publishing since the first wave of the vamp/were craze took hold. I myself am absolutely sick to death of the YA angst, bloody vampire crap and werewolf hairballs that had been beaten to death and left to die by this time in 2009.
Read this if you want to feel like you are part of what is going on, when you really wish that the characters lived next door to you so you could get to know them better.
But most especially, read it knowing that by the end of book 5, you're going to be just as freaking insane, wishing like hell that you could go hunt ghosts, impatient and in need of a phone that has 911 on speed dial.

So, having just sat here and written this short blurb, my shoulders tightened up and once again, started searching the net in the event that it would be released earlier than anticipated.

I promise, you'll love it!!!!

On Demon Wings was a gigantic mind-fuck. I had literally no clue what was happening (I'm not very good at foreshadowing or figuring stuff out, to be honest) until the last part of the book where everything sort of clicked into place.

Perry broke my heart in this. For some reason, I find her character very relatable and attaching, and hated seeing her this sad. I have to admit I missed Dex a lot and thought he would show up sooner than he did, but I was still pretty relieved to see him again (finally) and kind of felt like hugging him.

I wish.

DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON PERRY'S PARENTS. JUST DON'T. THEY GIVE ME RAGE BLACKOUTS. PERRY'S FAMILY IS THE WORST. THE ABSOLUTE WORST. Luckily, she has Ada. Sassy and amazing Ada. I adore her character, and she was fantastic in this book. She may only be 15, but she has balls.

Once again, Karina Halle manages to blow my mind and leave me speechless. On Demon Wings creeped the hell out of me, but then again, it's no surprise. The atmosphere drives you crazy, especially when you don't understand a thing of what's going on, even though you can pretty much guess what's happening.

And when everything clears out, you think oh, maybe Perry can finally catch a breath!

Poor girl.
