I've been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes). I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There's no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.
I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. I’m back in New Zealand now, but I’m always plotting new trips. If you’d like to see some of my travel snapshots, have a look at the Travel Diary page (updated every month).
So far, I've worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer's mill.
This is the perfect example of what I like to see after a couple finally get together. The way Judd and Brianna are with each other made all that turmoil from their beginning worth it.
“Movie Night” free read on Nalini Singh website. Aww a sweet quick read. We get a peek into Judd and Brenna's life with a little humor thrown in.
“Those people didn’t understand that her mate had lived his life in the shadows, been forced to submerge his personality under a layer of ice—that ice had melted for her, but that didn’t mean it hadn’t left scars. Fun was still a new concept for Judd.”
And I love the fact we got to see more of Brenna and Judd. It's always heartwarming to read about the Ice Man who was melted by the love of a wolf. I'm feeling all sappy right now.
Did I mention that I'm loving my reread of this series? Because I really am! So much!
Una escena cortita, dulce y simpatica sobre la vida en comun de Judd y Brenna, al ser una de mis parejas favoritas no puedo ser imparcial pero me parecio muy tierna.
Much like the other short stories offered on Nalini Singh’s website, Movie Night is a nice little extra for fans of the Psy-Changeling series, giving an extremely quick read you can dive into after Hostage to Pleasure. I said on my review of the other short stories in this series that I’m not the biggest fan of these kinds of shorts – in fact, the only case I can think of where I’ve happily devoured all the shorts is with Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series – but I was curious to see how Nalini Singh’s shorts would play out. After all, there’s so many of them, with so many people seeming to enjoy the extras, and I thought it was at least worth the try.
In truth, after my first two, I debated whether I wanted to read any more. I was feeling generous and gave two-star ratings to both The Cannibal Princess and A Conversation. When it came to my third, A Gift for Kit, I found I could not bring myself to round up my one-point-five-star rating and gave a single star. As Movie Night contained the characters from my favourite book in the series, I decided I would give it a try.
Movie Night came closer to being a two-star rating than A Gift for Kit did, as it managed to bring a smile to my face, but I found I couldn’t bring myself to round it up. It was nice to see a bit more of the characters I really enjoyed, to get to see beyond where their story ended, but I had been hoping for a wee bit more. It was nice, but it did not quite have the same magic as the scenes in their book.
If you’re a big fan of the series, and if you enjoy extremely quick reads that offer an insight into the lives of characters, then I’m certain you’ll have fun with this. Otherwise, do not feel as though you need to read these shorts to understand the series.
Judd and Brenna are one of my favorite couples in this series. So this little glimpse into their lives was great. I like how Brenna encourages Judd to "find" himself.
"4.5 stars" Movie Night is a very short story of only about four pages that takes place not long before Branded by Fire, showing a little glimpse into Judd and Brenna’s life together. On a rare evening off, they decide to stay in for a movie night. Brenna gives Judd free reign to pick whatever movie he wants with rather amusing results. Judd and Brenna are very loving and well-matched, and I liked how they turned what could have been a dud of an evening into something to laugh over. They’re one of my favorite couples in the series thus far, so I very much enjoyed this little tidbit of a story that gave me a welcome peek into their post HEA lives.
Such a sweet, free on the author's website, short scene between Judd and Brenna. It's hard to choose between all the great couples in the Psy-Changeling world, but these two are my favorite pair so far.
If you are a fan of the series, then I recommend you read this short; it will only take about five minutes of your time, but it's good reminder of these characters and great to see how their love continue to grow. Not to mention that now I want pizza thanks to them...
4 Stars ~ A sweet glimpse into Judd and Brenna'a future. It's a movie night. I love this couple. Downloadable from author's website. http://www.nalinisingh.com/shortstori...
Ahhhhhh! Another sweet little peek into the lives of one of our favorite couples: Judd and Brenna.
They are one of my fave couples and it's so great to see them going strong and any time with them is a treat. The best part is it's a chance to see how Brenna is still healing Judd, and that in the end despite it all Judd is still a man. You'll be grinning and happy by the end of this one.
