Ryohgo Narita (成田 良悟, Narita Ryōgo) is a Japanese light novelist. He won the Gold Prize in the 9th Dengeki Novel Prize for Baccano!, which was made into a TV anime in 2007.[1] His series Durarara!! was also made into a TV anime, which began airing January 2010
There are two traits found in most of Narita's works: * Narita writes extremely fast, one volume a month if he wishes - with tons of spelling errors and missing words as a tradeoff. The editors like to leave them sometimes just for fun, though. * His work titles often have an exclamation mark at the end (i.e. Baccano!, Vamp!, Durarara!!, etc.).
I initially went into the Etsusa Bridge light novels thinking they'd be just a short introduction to Ryohgo Narita's storytelling style, a way to test the waters before jumping into his longer and more well-known works (Baccano, Durarara). Instead, I am left at the end of the "official" end of the series with an incredible sadness that this did not get the anime or manga adaptation his more popular works did, because this - this book, this two-parter, and this series - was an exhilarating rush from beginning to end. And this book specifically manages to interweave the key players from the previous Etsusa Bridge stories, along with its own new cast of characters, into a quite literally explosive finale that had my heart racing. This is fantastic, snappy, fun action writing in a world outside of state-enforced standards of order, and my trip there left me feeling satisfied and inspired.
