Ever in search of a mighty doom, the Slayer Gotrek Gurnisson finds an opportunity for a great death indeed, fighting against a vicious hippogryph in what can only be a battle to the death. But once he enters the fighting pit and begins to battle the captive beast, Gotrek realises that perhaps his doom is not yet at hand…

Read it because
It's an interesting perspective on just why Gotrek has failed to meet his doom for so long. An opportunity arises, but his other qualities – the qualities that make him a hero – stop him from seizing it.

Nice, but in length so brief and symbology so saturated that I'm tempted to measure this more as poetry rather than prose.

This is a very short tale of Gotrek and Felix, but the dirth of pages is made up for by excellent writing and a thundering and exciting episode amongst their many adventures. Josh Reynolds has a firm grasp of the characters of G & F and, to me, has the closest writing style to their originator, William King.

Concise and to the point. In just a few pages this story presents a premise, a middle and an end, all while conveying something important about both main characters.

Black Library's advent events can be fun and this story is q good inclusion. It's of Flash fiction length so very short but manages to give a story of Gotrek and Felix from the world that was. It does rely on the reader knowing the characters and the setting which allows for some short cutting and allows the action to start straight away... or in fact in the middle. Gotrek is fighting a tamed beast and its far from certain which of them will win!

So why only 3 stars...? Because for the length of the story Black Library are charging too much. This should be in a compilation really.

Kurz und knackig, zeigt eine etwas andere Seite von Gotrek, aber eine die ihn erweitert, und nicht alles ins Gegenteil verkehrt was man in den anderen Büchern liest.
