Before I started reading this book I didn't know about this period in American history. At the beginning they are all a strong family who are going through it all together. But you just feel it's almost impossible to stay together. You think about all the families that fell apart and probably never knew what happened to their parents, brothers, sisters, ...

The book itself was well written. At 1st, as a non english native person, I had a bit troubles understanding the way they spoke, but after a while I got the hang of it. At the back of the book it says about John Steinbeck ' a novelist who is also a true poet'. And I agree with this.

This book is deinatly going to end up my re-read pile.
