Es un caso que carece del espíritu lógico-deductivo que caracteriza al personaje de Sherlock Holmes. Poco atractivo.

Not as thorough a mystery as some. The missing thumb was solved but with little muss or fuss.

It is a good effort to try and condense the original short story into this graphic novel format. The essence of the plot is here. But, many of the details are left out.

This graphic novel re-tells Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic tale of how Sherlock Holmes tracked a band of criminals from an engineer's missing thumb. While it may appeal to graphic novel/mystery fans, the format and short page length do not do justice to the complexities of Doyle's original work. There is a cast of characters and portraits at the beginning to help distinguish those portrayed in the story.

After watching the popular BBC Sherlock my daughter has officially dubbed herself a “Sherlockian” and wants to learn more about the premise of her favorite show. I saw The Graphic Novel Adventures of Sherlock Holmes at the public library and thought this was a great introduction before attempting the more challenging short story collection. They are a fun quick read and even reluctant readers will enjoy looking for clues with Mr. Holmes.

I like the attempt to bring Sherlock Holmes to this generation through a graphic novel. This is aimed for grades 3-8. I do like the artwork but the thumb story is kind of gross, even in 'cartoons' the story's climax is violent. Good for mystery and action lovers.
