Mobil City Guides is a series of in-depth guides on what to see and do while in top US cities. Extensive research will point you in the direction of each city's hidden treasures and show you where to stay and dine.
Some interesting sidebars (Salem witch trials, the Boston Tea Party, etc.) but the bulk of the book is hotel and restaurant recommendations. The museum/things to do section--why I pick up a guidebook--was painfully short and lacking detail.
Three things I gleaned:
1) The path between the Massachusetts Avenue and Longfellow bridges is a 5K loop.
2) Aquitaine serves a $9.95 brunch on weekends. Cinnamon buns, an omelette, home fries, toast, juice, and coffee. What a great deal!
3) Joanne Chang (of Flour Bakery fame) has a Chinese diner with what looks like a fabulous menu.
So this book did come in useful, but I would recommend a different guidebook for people looking for things other than food and (expensive) hotel reviews.
