Read it for the #48hourJapaneseReadathon.

WARNING: THIS RANT CONTAINS SPOILER UPON SPOILER

I think the Seirin vs Yosen match is far better depicted in the manga than the anime.
The animators were slack; they completely disregarded Yosen and focused all of their attention on Seirin. For example, whenever Kagami was on screen you can tell they used a thou carefully constructed frames to get his movements all smooth-like and amazing. And yet when Murasakibara performed his Tornado dunk, they used 2-3 frames. No cool affects, SFX, build-up. No nothing!
Also, the animators made Murasaki out to be some lumbering Titan. Yes, he's tall and - "dat wingspan!" - but sometimes the portrayal of him next Seirin's players was just ridiculous. Didn't even look scary or somewhat feasible considering the angle of the shot, like it does in the manga.

The manga does both teams justice, although it cannot be denied; Yosen is the least impressive of the 'Generation Of Miracles' matches. I expected Murasaki to be somewhere between Midorima and Aomine in terms of skill (Aomine is too boss to be considered weaker just because he fought Seirin before Yosen did. Though I don't like him much, the facts prevent me from denying his talents). Unfortunately it seems to me like he is more on par with Kise. Even Kise is slightly more fun to watch - because he actually plays, whilst Murasaki does a lot of standing around, growling "KURO-CHIIIIN!".

Kagami and Kuroko are typical Shounen heroes. They defy the laws of everything, where all others fail; they succeed, things that can only be achieved with long term training are achieved by their hands in a third of that time, etc, etc. I am rarely, if ever, impressed by the character development of the "main" characters in manga.
Kagami is especially yawn-inducing. He truly is the epitome of Shounen protagonists. Nothing new there. It is beyond my human capabilities to understand how or why anyone would seriously love Kagami.
And I implore those with knowledge to please tell me HOW ON EARTH Kuroko managed to block Muraski's final shot? In the picture he is shown to have jumped -- as high as Murasaki's waist (well, almost)! How does a midget with no experience in the airborne department pull that off? That was just ridonkylous.

The match ended OK. I'm glad Murasaki didn't throw himself at Seirin's feet and declare his undying love for basketball - because that would be so out of character. I hope it takes a lot of persuading to get him to play again. I think it's important to the story that some of the 'Generation of Miracles' stick to their old ways because it'd be too clichéd if they all suddenly discovered the beauty of Kuroko's Basketball after being defeated.

I'd like to see more training from the other teams. Seirin gets stronger and stronger and we're told that their opponents have also gotten better, but they still lose and it just makes all the other teams look nauseatingly weak. If we could see a little of what they do behind the scenes, it might give them more "depth" (can't think of the right word, but you know what I mean). And I'm curious about Yosen's coach, she seems an interesting character. We know the old geezers from the other teams are ex-basketball players themselves. But what of Masako Araki?

Finally, the artwork is really good and the movements of the players are demonstrated well. Not confusing at all. I also enjoy reading the little "blooper" panels and Q&A at the end of each chapter. You can learn a lot about the characters that way.

I think Kuroko is no longer shadow. It means Kuroko has high skills and he can use them without a partner, but his power can be the best when he cooperate with teammate.

Kagami realizes that instead of going super saiyan to win, he should try to win (and then go super saiyan). Oh and every antagonist apparently has the same feeling of 'I do not like basketball (but I secretly do)'. Including new guy mister I do the same thing as another guy but make you feel insecure about it.

The book is good, it has more detail and after all, I would recommend it to someone because it can help them be good at basketball or help him/her on exams about basketball.

Is it me or is this volume short?

First of all, Kagami!!! FANTASTIC BABY!! (lol reference to Kpop...oops wrong country :P)He was just amazing! I can't help but love him! And yes, in my notes I wrote: OMG OMG AIR WALK! WHAT A BAMF!!

In this volume, we got to know a bit more about The Zone, which was interesting and it gave a little insight on Muk-kun.

The match progress with nothing really cool. I am just really disappointed with this whole match up with Muk-kun. It seemed like Fujimaki didn't really develop Muk-kun well. I do love Muk-kun's Thor's Hammer xD.

Ohhh~ Tension! Himuro, Muk-kun. Awww Himuro (totally expected it but still). <---I shall not be specific because it will become spoilers :3. Evil me :P

"He opened his eyes, the last 'All or Nothing' of the Generation of Miracles."

I have to mention how I love all the creative names to all the basketball skills. :3 We got introduced to more skills such as Metero Jam! And Kuroko is a BAMF! If you are looking for a Kuroko focused match, this is not for you. The match was not really focused on anything. Unlike Ao's match, it was mainly Kagami and Kuroko, but this match, I don't know, it was dull. I was REALLY wishing to know more of Muk-kun and Himuro but nothing came. :\ But ending the match on a cute note...awwwww Muk-kun!! What a cutie!

End of match

~~~~~~
This volume continued to the beginning of another match. I don't know if Fujimaki planned this or did he just wanted to throw it in randomly to add to some character development or something but it was GREAT!
We met HAIZAKI SHOUGO!!! WHAT?!! <---My response. I was shocked. I was like DE FUK?!
Kise, hot!
"With the title of 'Generation of Miracles' on the line, they clash!!"
Great cliffhanger but the match between Muk-kun and Seirin was disappointing. So the end of the volume was good. I didn't even know I finished the volume and actually read pass vol 19 into the next vol. :P It was addicting!
On a random note: Muk-kun holding the chopstick! LOLOL funny and cute!
(I'm kinda pleased that this is the 2,000th book I've rated. I wanted it to be something special to me!)
Something I feel I should add: I give 5 stars basically in two cases: one, the book or series is above average in writing (or art, if applicable), two, it manages to move me in a way that is in some way extraordinary. Basically, I have to go "WOW" one way or the other. Actually, that is the reason some ratings are a bit uneven (another is the fact that I usually rate them right after I've read them so my reaction is 100% emotional) - there are a lot of books that I'd say are quality-wise a lot better than others, but I just didn't love them enough.
So yeah, what I want to say: this series isn't extraordinarily well done, and the matches are a bit ridiculous at times (vanishing drive! vanishing overload! perfect copy!), but that doesn't matter. This series really had me breathlessly tearing through the (virtual) pages, and I was so tense at times I thought I'd snap. And my love for certain characters (*cough* Midorima *cough*) kept levelling up and up and up... It's just a series that completely managed to capture my heart to my complete and absolute surprise (actually, that kind of thing almost always manages to capture me by surprise...) and I just love it. SO MUCH. *squishes all of them*
This was such a quick read, duuude. o_o
I loved the way their match ended, and what it did to Murasakibara. The Alex/Tatsuya/Kagami relationship continues to be very interesting, Teppei continues to break my heart, Kise is as intriguing as always, and the shift in Aomine's characterisation from proper antagonist to somewhat reluctant ally is MY FAVOURITE THING TO HAPPEN OK
Also
...I'm sorry. I used a bit too much force.
Oh Kagami.
The dude that got introduced in the end is really irritating. Can't wait to see how that all ends. I have some theories, but in the end, I wouldn't bet on any of them..
Nice block by Kagami! He has now entered "The Zone" yes! Wow! Kagami is really incredible. He brought down Murasakibara and passed by Himuro too! O_O and he did an air walk. Just like Michael Jordan. Haha! Cool.
Omg! Murasakibara has also entered "The Zone" what?! I thought he couldnt do that since he doesnt love baskteball? Lol. Anyway, yay! "Seirin" won by 1pt. 73 to 72. Wooh! What a very close match. Haha! Aww.. Murasakibara cried. XD he actually loves basketball and is just denying it. Haha
What the hell?! This guy... Haizaki Shougo he wanted to fight Tatsuya and Kagami. Tsk!
The volume finished the match between Yosen and Seiren and featured most of the match between Kaijo and Hizaki's new team and two of both were average matches. However, I loved how Kise showed his real progress.
Wowee I forgot I read this series. I read all, and they're pretty great. Got me excited for basketball, which is why I even read it in the first place.
I'm too lazy to add the rest though, there's a bunch I believe
I love Kagami (but don't worry, I still love you too, Aomine). And so an annoying character enters the spotlight - Haizaki.
Was absolutely amazing. Loved every aspect of it and though it may seem unrealistic at times, Kuroko no Basket is for sure one of the best sport manga/anime out there.
