This is a short story set in the future of the Vampire Primes Universe. By Sun and Candlelight is a sequel to DARK STRANGER.
Every happily ever after has a price.
Matthias Raven and Zoe Pappas have a psychic bond sealing the love between them. Their union would be perfect, except for the complications that he is a vampire Prime and she is heir to the Byzant Galactic Empire. Being together is all they want and need, but forcers are at work to tear them apart.
Susan Sizemore's life and interests include such varied activities as medieval costuming and embroidery, being a chef, and working in the defense industry. She is owned by her spoiled rotten, beloved mutt dog, rather than the other way around, and this is just fine with her.Current hobbies include hiking and studying t'ai chi. She travels whenever she can, loves history, loud music, movies, good coffee, and writes constantly. She hopes readers enjoy her stories as much as she enjoys writing them. She has won the Romance Writers of America's Golden Heart Award and has been nominated for two Romantic Times awards.
A pretty decent follow up to Dark Stranger where Zoe and Raven are dealing with her responsibilities as heir to the throne and also her people's and his people's response to their bonding. Zoe, now out of prison, once again feels imprisoned by her responsibilities and all that it takes away from her relationship with Raven. He can't seem to get his family on board with their bonding and is ready to go against his clan for Zoe's sake. Add to that, their responsibilities keep them separated and they can't get any time for themselves. This is basically them dealing with that. Not a lot happens and this is decidedly low on the stem factor unfortunately, since these two were my favorite pairing in the Prime Universe. I really like the psychic bond thing that exists between them. It occurs to me that in other Prime stories, the characters never get close to this level of psychic closeness because their bonding is still too new...so it was nice to see this.

This could be almost an extended epilogue for Dark Stranger. It was awesome to see how their future unfolded and began to evolve taking into account their vastly different backgrounds and some what complicated seeming positions when it came to their jobs. I'd love to read more stories set in this world. I mainly want to see how she got the people to stop being so racist against the "super humans" like vampires, werewolves, and cyborgs.
I enjoyed this story, but felt that the ending was too abrupt. Otherwise I would have given it five stars. Hope we learn more about how Dr. Casmerek survived all those centuries in a future book.
This is a sequel to DARK STRANGER, which I liked. This short little storygives us another glimpse into Zoe and Matthis' life after their mating. It was cute and just a bit too short.
This was good for how much was there but come on give me a real story. I like the characters enough that what I really want is another full book with them not 28 pages.
