This one was another really good one. We got to meet another gym leader, she was a bundle of energy. We also got to see Marlene again, which was nice. Diamond, Pearl and Platinum are all working hard to stop team Galactic.
It just hurts to think about the arc before this, emerald, and then it went to diamond and pearl. I still have half the series left, so I’m still willing to give it a shot.
the story line is reasonable, just when the three of them seperated from each other to save the legendary trio Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf. that part was sad
This volume is packed with side quests for the kids. Some may call this filler, but I feel that's only partially accurate. They are building larger teams and more experience before heading right into the not so loving arms of the Team Galactic executives.
When it comes to the *Pokemon* anime, I don't really care for any of the series/season past the 2 in the *Advance* era, really. That having been said, I did quite enjoy the *Pokemon Platinum* NDS game. So, I was willing to give this manga volume a chance, when I saw it up on Edelweiss for review. It wasn't bad enough that I regretted having read it. Neither was it impressive enough that I would run out and recommend it to all my friends. Face it, I liked it enough to finish it, so that I would not have to create a *Did-Not-Finish* list...but, that's pretty much it. If you like the *Pokemon: Diamond and Pearl* anime, you probably be a big fan of this. If you don't, you probably won't care for it. ------------ And, don't even get me started about that cliffhanger-ending that this volume had. They spend a whole volume, nearly, telling you Team Galactic is going to set a bomb off in one of the local lakes. Then, end the volume saying that it's time that it's going to happen, leaving you with no clue of which lake Team Galactic choose. ----------- The only reason I would read any other volumes of this series is to see if it gets any better later on. I don't think it's possible to get any worse. ---------------------- ----------------------- This volume was provided to me by VIZ Media via Edelweiss, in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed here are my own.
2021 re-read: 4/5. honestly, still a fun time reading this manga. Perfect end of the year read, especially if, like me, you’ve been craving Sinnoh plots due to the remakes and Legends Arceus.
Original review: 4.0/5. I enjoyed this volume and thought it was a nice transition. Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum go on their separate ways in order to head off Team Galactic at the three lakes in hopes of preventing them from using the Galactic Bomb.
For the most part, this volume was "filler" in the sense that the three heroes were put into situations that forced them each to expand their pokemon team and I feel that the reason for it being that they need more pokemon to face Team Galactic. Also, this volume still has not introduced the final Galactic commander, Jupiter, even though the last volume teased her and this volume shows her artwork on the back. Overall, a fun read.
The three members of our gang have split up to race to the different lakes in attempt to keep Team Galaxy from unleashing their bombs. Unfortunately, they spend the vast majority of this volume not actually dealing with that and instead getting distracted by various things.
There are a couple of cute moments. There's a bit of stereotyping. In general though, it feels like poorly plotted side stories to stretch out the series.
It's a race to the finish as the team of Diamond, Pearl and Lady Platinum face off against Team Galatic!
This partciular story-arc of the "Pocketmonsters Special" manga (volumes 30-40, essentially) was very tightly written and plotted and pulled in the elements of the game extremely well!
Our trio divide as Platinum pursues her Glacier Badge, Pearl investigates Team Galactic, and Diamond stumbles upon a luxurious mansion staffed by a stuffy butler.
