It's the wedding all of Valentine Valley has been waiting for!
Bridesmaid Heather Armstrong arrives for Nate and Emily's big weekend only to discover that one of the ushers is the man she had a close encounter with when they were trapped by a blizzard seven months ago—and he's the bride's brother!
Cowboy Chris Sweet never forgot the sexy redhead, although she disappeared without a trace. At first the secret creates a divide between them, but as they grow closer during the romantic weekend, will Heather dare risk her heart again?
Emma Cane grew up reading and soon discovered that she liked to write passionate stories of teenagers in space. Her love of “passionate stories” has never gone away, although today she concentrates on the heartwarming characters of Valentine Valley, her fictional small town in the Colorado Rockies.
Now that her three children are grown, Emma loves spending time crocheting and singing (although not necessarily at the same time), and hiking and snowshoeing alongside her husband Jim and their rambunctious dog Uma.
Emma also writes USA Today bestselling historical romances under the name Gayle Callen.
A wonderful afternoon's escape! Taken from my review at RomanceJunkies.com:
Heather Armstrong traveled to Colorado to be a bridesmaid for her friend Emily’s June wedding. Waiting for Emily to pick her up at the small airport, Heather caught sight of a familiar face. All she had really known of the guy was that his name was Chris. Seven months earlier, while snowbound in the Denver airport, mutual attraction and a few drinks had made her flirtatious and she had landed her in bed with this stranger. Spending two days together, they had really connected and she had left him her phone number, believing she would hear from him, but he never called. Although she had come to terms with their time spent together, she was not cut out for one night stands. She had just decided to do everything she could to avoid Chris while she was visiting Emily when she made a startling discovery…Chris is Emily’s brother. She knew that Emily had just found her biological father and stepmother, but Heather had never met Emily’s new siblings. Now if she can only convince Chris to keep their affair secret. Heather has wanted to move her catering business out of the city and Emily has been trying to get her to move to her new home of Valentine Valley, which seems to need a caterer badly.
Chris Sweet, a cowboy, recognizes Heather immediately as anger overwhelms him, remembering how she left him at the hotel months ago without a way to contact her. Now she acts as if she wishes they had never met so he pretends he has no idea who she is. He tried to find her after she left; no other woman has intrigued him the way she does. In fact, he has not even dated in the months since she left, and even his family and friends have noticed the difference in him.
At first, there is a rift between the two, but as the weekend progresses and Chris comes clean about his knowledge of their weekend together, things turn heated. Will Chris be able to convince Heather to give up her life in the city so they can have a life together?
A WEDDING IN VALENTINE, the latest novella in author Emma Cane’s VALENTINE VALLEY series, is a witty, sensual contemporary romance. The connection between Heather and Chris was very real and I enjoyed this story immensely. Since this is the first of Ms. Cane’s books I have read, I can assure you that it can be read as a standalone. But after reading it, I am eager to read the first two books in this series. The only problem with A WEDDING IN VALENTINE was that I hated to see it end. However, it is a wonderful afternoon’s escape! Filled with a range of emotions, a wedding, misunderstandings, sizzling sensuality, small town dynamics, romance and true love, this story is a delight. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of A WEDDING IN VALENTINE. I highly recommend it!
What happens when you run into that “one-night” stand that never called? Worst yet, it happens at the wedding of your best friend? A Wedding in Valentine explores that exact scenario and is a sweet novella that not only introduces us to the town of Valentine but features Chris and Heather who threw caution to the wind seven months ago and had the hottest night of their lives.
Although only a novella, I felt that Chris and Heather’s story was a complete one. Chris is such a sweetie, although his initial reaction to Heather when they meet again had me wanting to shake him (but I quickly forgave him). Heather is independent and fell for Chris that night and was crushed when she never heard from him again. The rebuilding of trust between these two was the focus of the story, with Nate and Emily’s wedding as the backdrop., and it does not disappoint. I can’t wait to read more about the Sweet clan especially Chris’s brothers as the brothers had me laughing out loud during the treasure hunt scene.
I give A Wedding in Valentine 4.5 stars. A perfect series for summer reading with just the right amount of sweet romance and attraction heat to keep me interested.
I read this book out of order. I am not typically a fan of half books (this is book 2.5)
Love this series but this particular book seemed a bit rushed and story was not as captivating. It was worth reading so I knew who Heather was as she appears in later books
Also the kindle version the story ends at 60% (I guess lots of excerpts from other books make up the last 40%).
This was a great short story about two people meeting again at a wedding at losing contact with each other. Hannah and Chris had met once before . A very sweet story.
Laid over because of snow, Heather meets Chris. Two days later she leaves him her number, but he never calls. 7 months later at her best friends wedding, she runs into him again.
A Wedding in Valentine is a short, quick, sweet read. If it was longer, I wouldn't really mind because their history piqued my curiosity. Although their first meeting was not as interesting as their second meeting. Nevertheless, for my first time - I wasn't at all disappointed.
Heather came down to Valentine to attend Emily's wedding, only to find the man - who never called her after their brief hot-interlude one winter night they were stranded in the airport - was there as well! It seems that Chris Sweet is Emily's brother! How can she possibly survive the wedding with him looming around her?

I ♥ cowboys, don't you? Instant chemistry sparked between them when they first met seven years ago, or at least that is what Heather thought. Until she haven’t heard from him after she left her number. Meeting him again had her stomach in knots. It has been months since she last saw him, but he still has the same effects on her. How can she possibly survive the wedding with him looming around her?
On the other hand, our sweet, hot and nice cowboy couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the woman who he couldn’t stop thinking about. Yes, definitely a small world considering the woman who has left him alone in the hotel room without looking back is one of Emily’s bridesmaids.
Seven months of frustration and heartache – seven months of miscommunication. Can they survive the weekend? As the weekend goes, both of them finally had the chance to talk and sort everything out. The heat sizzles between these two once again – but can Chris convince Heather to stay at Valentine?
To end, I enjoyed how the story went. I love how Emily’s wedding preparations were done, including the activities prior to the wedding where Heather was paired with Chris and his equally hot, dangerously flirt brother, Will. Talk about competition and more awkwardness. The more they avoid each other, the more fate throws them back together. It may be short, and I have this crazy urge to meet Emily and Nate as well, but I still love it.
Emma Cane has created such a wonderful town in her Valentine Valley series. The first book is A Town Called Valentine and A Wedding in Valentine is a novella. Valentine Valley is charming. The town has a certain mixed appeal: its quaintness and diversity of people makes for an array of interesting characters and its picturesque setting of fields and mountains, typical Main Street and gorgeous homes, has an old-fashioned feel which may make the reader want to visit.
Heather has come to town to be in her best friend Heather's wedding. She arrives and soon finds herself with trepidation in her heart. Waiting inside the airport is the hot cowboy she had a one-night stand with (or was it two nights?) on a snowy evening. Heather isn't that type of girl but when she spent time with Chris, he stirred something in her and she was able to express herself freely for a change. Heather has been thinking of leaving San Francisco and opening up a catering business somewhere, far away from the bustle of city life. Is Valentine Valley her new home? Can she enjoy this weekend knowing the cowboy who took her heart but never called will be within reach?
A Wedding in Valentine is a sweet romantic novella with a contemporary feel and a picturesque town which seems like a step back in time. Town people know everybody else's business and the fresh smell of grass beckons for a walk outside. Heather is an independent woman all set to start a new life. She's looking forward to seeing Emily, thrilled to see her close friend so happy with her fiance Nate. But seeing Chris brings back feelings of passionate days spent together and the overriding hurt of his dismissal. I won't say what happens between Heather and Chris but their scenes involve peeping, skinny dipping, a toe-curling kiss, revelations, and dancing. I enjoyed their story and found Valentine Village a nice place to hang out in. (http://www.readergirlsblog.com/2013/0...)
My Review: This was a quick little read and I'll be honest, I've never read any of Emma Cane's books before so I wasn't sure what I was in for, but I actually really enjoyed this. It was short, but it didn't seem too brief, although I definitely wouldn't have complained any if it had been longer because I really liked these two characters and their backstory.
Chris and Heather had instant chemistry when they met 7 months before, at least that's what they both thought. It was an incredible weekend of passion that they both thought was on the build-up to something more, but crossed lines of communication meant that both thought the other had rejected them having anything more. They've each had 7 months of heartache where they just can't get past that weekend. The thing is...neither of them realized their connection through Emily...Chris's sister and Heather's best friend until Heather gets off the plane for the wedding. And a wedding with all the family and everything needing to be perfect for Emily is NOT the place to hash out exactly what happened, especially in this small town where the rumor mill is alive and kicking.
I really enjoyed the backstory between these two and could really see how this miscommunication could happen. I also enjoyed the set-up of the wedding weekend because it threw the two characters within each other's realm constantly so they weren't allowed to just ignore each other. I enjoyed the character of Will, Chris's brother, and how he's somewhat coming onto Heather...PERFECT for the story line in this novella.
I haven't read any of the other Valentine Valley books, but I never felt lost. I could tell who the past H/h were and want to read their stories soon. I think I just found another author who does small town romance really well.
This was an adorable love story, and I wish it was a little bit longer. I know it was a novella but it still left me wanting more. Heather Armstrong goes to a small town called Valentine to help an old friend, Emily Murphy with her wedding. When she meets Emily at the airport she is very surprised to find out that Emily's brother is Chris Sweet, a man she met several months ago and had a weekend fling with and never heard from him again. Chris is just as surprised as Heather to find out Heather is Emily's best friend. At first they play it off as if they don't know each other but eventually discuss the elephant in the room. They were both upset with each other because one was expecting the other to call but never did. Apparently Heather left her number the morning she left but Chris never found it. He assumed she just left without saying goodbye. Oh at first when he sees her and they are alone he treats very rudely. However, they eventually talk it out and discovered that they both still have a strong attraction to one another. The only problem they both encounter is to keep Emily from finding out they know each other especially since it is on her wedding weekend. Heather doesn't want her to find out that Chris is the guy she had the weekend fling with, and ruin Emily's special wedding weekend. Chris agrees to play it cool and act like they just met and that they are just getting to know one another for the first time. Since, the town is so small people start to talk and wonder. It's hard to keep secrets in a small community, which is a little funny to see how nosy some of the towns people are. I love Heather and Chris together and wished the book was longer, but it was worth it. Such a sweet story and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
A Wedding in Valentine is a novella that wraps up the story of Emily and Nate from the first book in the series. Heather Armstrong is in Valentine to be in her friend Emily’s wedding. At the airport, she sees the handsome cowboy she had an uncharacteristic one night stand with a few months before. Heather had to leave while he was out getting coffee because she had to make her flight. She had left her contact information but never heard anything. Chris Sweet is the brother of the bride and is at the airport to pick up an unknown to him bridesmaid. When Emily introduces the two, he pretends that he doesn’t recognize Heather. . Chris had spent quite a bit of time trying to find her and is taken aback when he sees her at the airport. This is a cute take on the classic romance theme of boy meets girl, something causes them to lose contact, and they meet again later. In this story, Emily has just recently met her natural family including Chris. Heather is trying not to disrupt the wedding and so she covers her hurt and goes along with the pretense. As a rule, this theme makes me crazy but it works perfectly in a shorter story. The two protagonists have to talk to each other and get the misunderstanding out of the way due to the wedding. The initial strong chemistry comes right back and they make a choice to let the past go and concentrate on the future. The wedding is a great setting to heighten the romance between the two. Valentine Valley has been an enjoyable series and I recommend that one read the prior two books; A Town Called Valentine and True Love at Silver Creek Ranch. The next book in the series comes out in February of 2014.
**ARC given in return for honest review** I have never read any of Emma Crane's work before or the book leading up to this one but that did not hinder my understanding of the story, the book was written in a way that allows you to learn about the history and back stories of the characters as you read on. Heather Armstrong arrives in small town Valentine to aid her Long time friend, Emily Murphy organize her wedding. To Emma's shock this small town is also residence to Chris a man she had a fling with but never heard from again. Chris is apart of Emily's wedding and is just as surprised and thrown of my Heather's arrival in town. At first they pretend that they only just met, but the tension between the two only grows until they discuss the elephant in the room. They discover miss-communication lead to either on hearing from each other. The chemistry between them is alive and kicking and being in a small town it does not take long for the rumor mill to start spinning. |The story line was prefect for a Novella their back story was very enjoyable and I just love Chris and Heather together. Great quick, easy, sweet romance summer read. Did I mention Chris is a sexy cowboy.
Welcome back to Valentine Valley! Emily and Adam (from True Love at Silver Creek Ranch) are finally tying the knot. Heather Armstrong, one of Emily's close friends and bridesmaids flies in for the wedding and comes face to face with with Chris...her one and only one-night stand... Did I mention that Chris just happens to be Emily's brother?
Heather and Chris quickly realize that they left their earlier encounter, each thinking the wrong thing. Sparks fly again and this wedding weekend is full of more love than just the love shared by the newlyweds!
First off, I LOVE this series. I've read the two other books in this series, A Town Called Valentine and True Love at Silver Creek Ranch, so when the opportunity came to review this novella I jumped!
This story is cute and sweet, a quick read with just enough glimpses of the residents of Valentine Valley to make you feel like you made a quick stop at a family reunion! I for one would LOVE to have brunch with the Widow's at the Boardinghouse (for those of you not familiar with this series- the founding women of the Valentine Valley Preservation Fund live in an old rundown brothel and work to preserve "women's history".. what they really do is add fun and entertainment to every book in this series! These ladies are a hoot.
A Wedding In Valentine was such a great Novella to read. I have to say that I have not read anything by Emma Cane but after reading this series I am going to read her series. The characters had me on the floor laughing and the story line leaves it open to be a novel.
Nate and Emily's wedding is finally here and everyone is excited. Heather who is her bride's made is excited for wedding until she sees the man she can not forget. She had an incredible weekend with this man and then all communication was lost and she has not stopped thinking about him. So when she sees him again her heart and mind can't stop thinking about the great weekend they spent together.
When Chris who is Heather's brother sees the fiery redhead he spent a weekend with and can't get her out of his mind and heart he is excited until he realizes she is his sister's best friend. Oh Lord what a predicament he is in. He knows he wants Heather but how to have her and not fight with his sister. Plus to make matters worse his brother is so flirting with her and he is not liking that.
Can these two finally be together or will outside forces keep them apart! This is a must read ladies!
I devoured the first two Valentine Valley books (A Town Called Valentine and True Love at Silver Creek Ranch) in about three weeks total, and since I have to wait all the way until February for the next installment, I was psyched to pick up this little novella.
A Wedding in Valentinebrings us back to Valentine Valley because Emily and Nate are finally getting married. Heather Armstrong, one of Emily's best friends from San Francisco, arrives in town to act as a bridesmaid. Little does she know that Emily's half-brother Chris Sweet, and fellow member of the wedding, is the guy she shared a wild, secret, two-day fling with when they were both snowed in at the Denver airport several months prior. Neither has been able to forget the other, and over the course of the wedding weekend, sparks start flying again - almost immediately.
I wish this could have been a full length Valentine Valley book, because it was a total delight to read, a wonderful escape after a busy holiday weekend. I can't wait for the next book to be delivered to my Kindle - already have it pre-ordered!

I loved reading about Heather and Chris!! Love Love LOVE Valentine Valley, I want to live there! I have read some of these out of order, and I remember reading Sleigh Bells in Valentine Valley this past Winter where they mentioned those two and I was wondering if I missed something...it was because I never read this novella. I can't wait to start the 3rd book. A must read series for romance lovers!
This is a cute novella about the long awaited wedding of Nate and Emily. As a bonus is the love story between Chris -Emily's brother - and Heather -Emily's best friend from California. I love this series and this is a good wrap up for Nate and Emily as well as the romantic kick off for Chris and Heather. Grab it!
Enjoyable story about Emily and Nate's wedding, and how Emily's brother Chris and best friend Heather find each other again. The auxiliary characters are in here, too.
This series is best read from the beginning. There is also a pre-story in 'All I want for Christmas is a Cowboy'.
Not a lot of 'drama' in this one... the dialogue seemed a little stiff too.
Who doesn't like happy endings, I wonder. This one came as no surprise. But seriously when life may throw at us one challenge after another it's nice to immerse ourselves in book and become part of Valentine Valley. Loved the book, loved the story and loved read happy ever after. Just lovely reading 'll together.
This is a short story in a continuation of a series of books by Emma Cane set in the fictional town of Valentine. Since I haven't read any of the others, I can't comment on the continuation of characters. However, I did enjoy this story and found it easy to read without having read the others.
I really liked this story because it was a part of the continuing series of Valentine Colorado. I didn't like that it was just a Novella and the second half of the book was excerpts of other books. A must read if you are following the series to make it complete.
