270 books1,833 followersI don’t know about you, but when I check out an author's bio, it’s usually because I’ve read a book I liked and wondered about the person behind it. Let's skip the formal bio and I'll give you the inside scoop on who Roxanne St. Claire really is.
First of all, call me Rocki. Everyone does. Evidently, when my mother brought me home from the hospital I seemed too scrawny and small to pull off “Roxanne” (she’d read Cyrano de Bergerac while pregnant or I would have been Judy) so they called me Rocki.
I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, the youngest of five (overachievers, every one), and fell in love with words and stories the summer I read Gone With The Wind. That year, for my twelfth birthday, my parents gave me a typewriter (with italic font – it was the coolest thing) and from that day on, I’ve had my fingers on a keyboard, pounding out love stories for fun. My AP English teacher taught me the two most important lessons an aspiring author ever needs: 1) verbs are the key to life and 2) a writer should get a real job. After attending UCLA and graduating with a degree in communications, I tried acting and television broadcasting. Oh, they aren’t real jobs? I learned that the hard way. I changed my last name from Zink to St. Claire because a news producer told me Roxanne Zink had too many harsh consonants for a TV personality – apparently Katie Couric didn’t get the memo. I got some fun gigs, and even met Tom Hanks when I did a guest appearance on Bosom Buddies. I liked on camera work, but wasn’t too crazy about starvation, so I moved to Boston and got that “real” job. In fact, I placed my foot on the bottom rung of the corporate ladder and didn’t look down until I’d climbed all the way up to the level of Senior Vice President at the world’s largest public relations firm. On the way up, I met the man of my dreams in an elevator. Two years later – in the same elevator! – he asked me to marry him and I wisely said yes.
I stayed in PR, moved to Miami, had a few babies, lost my home in a hurricane, built another one a few hours north and all along, I kept writing my “stories” for fun. One night, I read a particularly fabulous romance novel that changed my life for good. That night, I decided I wanted to make someone else feel as whole and happy as that author made me feel. (Everyone asks! It was Nobody’s Baby But Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.) With two small children and one big “real” job, writing my first novel wasn’t easy, but I did finish a manuscript that managed to get the attention of a literary agent. She told me to do one thing and one thing fast: write another book. (The first one is usually a “learner” book, honestly.) That second manuscript sold to Simon & Schuster’s Pocket Books and was released in 2003 as Tropical Getaway. Since then, I’ve written almost thirty more, in multiple genres, and long ago replaced the corporate ladder with the rollercoaster of publishing as a full-time novelist. Finally, writing is my real job.
Today, I live in a small beach community in Florida with my husband and two dogs. Our kids are off to college and law school, which means my nest is empty! I spend my time writing, working with the kids at my church, enjoying my husband's gourmet cooking, and hanging with my many writer friends. Of course, I love to read. I’m still crazy about words and stories and hope to write at least a hundred books in my lifetime. And, yes, verbs are the key to life. My favorites? Love. Work. Believe.

I've been reading this series a bit out of order but it hasn't stopped me from really enjoying the Bullet Catcher hot guys series.....and not forgetting their boss, their mysterious and interesting boss lady, Lucy Sharpe. And best of all........in the #8,5 and last book/novella in the Bullet Catcher Series, we get Lucy, her husband, Jack Culver (who is my abso fav) and their seriously cute daughter, Gracie.......oh sorry, and yes, we have sexy and hot Bullet Catcher, Benjamin Youngblood's story.
Ben is in big trouble with Lucy and to redeem himself he has to find an assassin before the agency's principal is bumped off.
Along the way, he meets up with Lizzie Dare (don't you just love these names!!!), sexy flower farmer, who has some connection to his assignment. The two go on an exciting ride filled with danger, being locked up.... together, thankfully, in a huge freezer, duck and dive from a mad and murderous chef holding a knife and a gun, avoiding killers chasing them......and in between trying to find time to do it to each other!!!
This was such a fun read. Sweet, cute, some action and some suspense....and not forgetting to be beyond surprised when the baddie/s are outted!!!!
I really liked the two main characters....I actually think that Ben Youngblood and Lizzie Dare could have done with a full length book together
Oh, I'm actually quite sad to see that there are no more BC adventures. What am I going to do? I was so into this series!!

Bullet Catcher Benjamin Youngblood is on the firing line, about to lose his job because the client who he was protecting disengaged because of his actions. Never mind that he was saving the guy’s life. Now he’s out to prove his instincts were right, which leads him to flower farmer Callie Parrish who turns out to be a pretty good partner.
I love these short stories that feel like a bit more. This one ramps up quickly but we get all the details we need to settle in for the ride. Benjamin and Callie make a great team, even developing a witty banter to spice things up. It’s exciting and fun, if you ignore Lucy’s role in the whole thing. I’m not fond of her character and nothing she does here changes that.
This feels like the end of the series, even though there’s another super short story that follows. I’ve enjoyed the series but wish we’d seen more of the previous characters in an epilogue or something. This was a fun one but certainly not a fitting end for the Bullet Catchers.

Bullet Catcher Ben Youngblood is on the verge of losing his job. He was assigned to protect the Governor of Florida while he is campaigning. When Ben cancels a rally because he found some suspicious items (jelly and black roses), the Governor says Ben causes too many disruptions and fires him. Ben promises his boss that he will protect the Governor and get the Bullet Catchers back on the Governor's detail. Ben starts by trying to track down who left the Black Cherry Roses. This leads him to Callie Parrish, a young woman who inherited her Grandmother's flower farm. She has just discovered that approximately $3,000 worth of Black Cherry Roses have been stolen from the farm. Ben and Callie team up to find out who took the flowers and how they tie into the Governor's campaign.
Roxanne St. Claire has given us an exciting, fast moving novella. I'm not a big fan of short stories, but I thought this one was very good. There is a good mystery, suspense, and romance. This is a short story worth reading. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

Oh Roxanne St. Claire did it again. I can never get enough of The Bullet Catchers. Ben and Callie are so great together. This novella was as action packed as the full-length BC books, and I wish it was longer. All the emotions I felt with the longer books still assailed me with this novella. I loved catching up with Lucy Sharpe too. The ending leaves the possibility of more to come, and I have my fingers crossed. I really miss these guys and I hope that someday, St. Claire will write more of them. If you haven't read this series, what are you waiting for? You really want to get to know these guys. I am a BULLET CATCHER lover for life. Happy reading!

This was an easy 5 stars for me. I bought it for less than a dollar, read it in less than an hour, and walked away feeling as though I had just gone on a wild ride via Ms. St. Claire. Phenomenal AS ALWAYS!!! Novellas are tricky, especially when they are from a series that you love because they aren't nearly enough, however, I knew what I was walking into and I loved it. Of course, I wouldn't mind if the sexy Ben had his own full length novel either. Great book!

It may be short (just 25,000 words), but Roxanne St. Claire's Pick Your Poison has everything you could ever ask for in a novella.
When the story starts, Bullet Catchers founder Lucy Sharpe is firing Ben Youngblood for botching an assignment and losing them a prominent client. His only hope of regaining his job is to prove that the client actually is the target of an assassin, save his ass, and get him to rehire the Bullet Catchers for his private security detail. Easy peasy, right?! Well… not when Lucy refuses to provide him with any of Bullet Catcher’s resources. No private plane. No fancy gadgets. No back up.
Undaunted, Ben sets out to track down the killer and protect his pompous primary. When his one and only clue leads him to a flower farm in Florida, Ben naturally asks the florist (Callie Parrish) to help him identify the assassin. Naturally. I mean, if you can’t have a fully-trained Bullet Catcher watch your back, the next best thing is obviously a florist, right?! Whatever. It’s a novella. Just go with it.
Ben and Callie are clearly a case of opposites attracting, because I’ve been wracking my brain and can’t figure out a single thing they have in common. He’s a super hot street tough turned muscle for hire and she’s a sweet, uneducated good-girl from Kentucky. Still, the chemistry between them is instant and undeniable. Ben gives some pretty sweet dirty talk (my kinda man!), and Callie’s not afraid to ask for what she wants (thankfully for my reading pleasure, she mostly wants Ben in as little clothing as possible and wrapped around her like a vine). Their desire sparks under the most ludicrous set of circumstances ever, but again… it’s a novella. Just go with it.
I do have to say that Pick Your Poison let me down not once, but twice. Firstly, no one likes a tease, Ms. St. Claire! How could you introduce us to the male perfection that is Ben Youngblood and his dirty mouth, have him promise Callie some serious bedroom Olympics if they make it out of alive, and then not deliver?! And no, delivering everything “off camera” does NOT count. Shame on you, Roxanne St. Claire! Shaaaaaaaame!
Secondly, refer to point one about the male perfection that is Ben Youngblood – he should have had a full-length novel! The man deserves a full-length novel, dammit! In all seriousness, though, I do prefer when novellas that are part of an established series revisit characters that readers already know and love, giving us a chance to peak behind the curtain and see what life is life for them after their HEA. Otherwise, I end up depressed, and mourning the fact that I only got to know Ben (and Callie too, I suppose) for 82 pages. It hardly seems fair.
Oh, I suppose a have a third minor beef with this story: the whole Jeremiah sub-plot was completely unnecessary. In a 25,000 novella, Ms. St. Claire has got to realize that space is at a premium and those 2-3 pages could have been spent on pretty much any other relevant aspect of the story. Just sayin'...
Verdict: Overall, Pick Your Poison is a sweet, fluffy read that packed in a surprising amount of action, suspense, and romance into a very short story. The only thing I thought it was missing was a little boom boom in the bedroom. But then again, I'm a bit of a horn dog.

At last...another Bullet Catcher story!! It's a novella, but it packs it's usual punch!
Ben Youngblood an operative for Bullet Catchers, has just been fired for doing his job!
He protected Governor Roy McManus of Florida from an assassination attempt. The Governor just felt it was a disruption to his campaign. The Governor has a lot of clout, hence Ben's firing. Ben is determined to get his job back, and bets his boss he can come up with answers. The only clues are a few mysterious items left at the scene which include a bouquet of very expensive and hard to find Black Cherry Roses.
Carrie Parrish is a young woman, who inherited her great grandmother's farm, growing flowers. She just happens to be the only grower in the state of Florida, who supplies....Black Cherry Roses!
Suspense , a little terror, and hot romance fill this novella. Plus, we get to visit Lucy Sharpe, her baby girl Gracie, and her husband Jack Culver. That is a lot action, but as usual Ms. St. Claire does it, leaving a smile on your face.

There is a reason I don't read novella's, they don't work for me and this one didn't. The hero is a bullet catcher and a rebel who is fighting for his job after his last assignment, he recruits the farmer heroine for help. Honestly, I found the book cheesy plus their sudden lust didn't work for me.

EXCELLENT STORY!!!!😁
This was an excellent book! It was short but every second was filled with action and suspense! I really liked the couple Ben and Callie.... They were good partners for each other. Their romance was sexy and heartwarming. The storyline was unusual and intriguing. Very unexpected!! It was a feel good book all the way through and I highly recommend it. I absolutely adored the ending.... It was perfection!!!!😊

I’ve read all the books in the bullet catcher series and they’re all fast paced, the right mix of steamy romance and espionage without being over the top in either. Roxanne st. Claire is one of my favorite authors. I plan to branch off into another one of her series soon!

I haven't read any of this series but this novella is an excellent introduction (even if it's volume 8,5 lol).
The characters and the story are well done for a 70 something pages novella, and I liked the author's style.

This Bullet Catcher novella may be a slightly shortened version compared to one of the lengthier novels we are used to reading from St. Claire in her award-winning romantic suspense series, but it definitely doesn't lack for action, suspense, and romance. A fast read that grips you from beginning to end.
Ben Youngblood and Callie Parrish make for a highly unlikely but nonetheless steamy pair as they team up to stop an assassin, race against time, fight for their lives and their livelihoods, all while finding their passion for each other too undeniable to ignore along the way. And lets not forget St. Claire's masterful ability to stop a 100mph train on a dime when making a plot-twisting, shocking revelation! (Sorry - no spoilers!)
I always love how St. Claire is able to bring a little reality into her fiction, fascinating the reader in this story with the science behind deadly poisons and a slight bit of history and world travel. She's packed so much into this novella - it's hard to believe its not a full length novel.
Plus - True fans of the Bullet Catchers series will also be thrilled to revisit with some of their favorite characters - Lucy Sharp, founder of the world-class bodyguard organization, the love of her life, Jack Culver and their baby girl, Gracie.
Being a die-hard BC fan...I can honestly say I loved this novella of romantic suspense! If you haven't read the Bullet Catchers series, I highly recommend you do! As a very wise stage director always used to say when giving a great performance, "Always leave the audience wanting more!" St. Claire does this every time!

Excellent! Filled with action and romance as you know Roxanne St. Claire provides us all...to start Ben Youngblood pleads with Lucy Sharpe to not fire him. They lose the biggest client they had the Gov. of Florida Roy Mc Manus...Ben is telling Lucy he will get him back. He wants another chance. She finally bends but no help from the Bullet Catchers. The Black Cherry Rose and few other things are clues, and are telling Ben's gut they have everything to do with what's going on. He will get to the bottom of it. He is bound and determined....first stop and it leads him to Callie Parrish's farm.
They end up working together....but Callie is not so sure about it...She is out for revenge and so is he.
They are both out for something they have lost. You know one part find out what else happens...it gets very interesting...Together there goal is so do whatever they need to do, and bringing down the killer, and getting what they want. I've read and loved the Bullet Catcher series & so I was absolutely thrilled when I saw this release! I immediately bought and downloaded Pick Your Poison to my Kindle. Pick Your Poison was not a let down. St. Claire has delivered another entertaining romantic suspense with this one. Although, this was a novella it didn't lose any touch of St. Claire's skill of flawless writing and storytelling. Pick Your Poison was sexy and fast paced with a fun plot.
Also included was a sprinkle of suspense that kept me, the reader, interested until the end. Not only that, but I also enjoyed reading about Ben and Callie. I liked their characterizations and dialogue. Their attraction to one another was obvious & fun to read about. In the end, Pick Your Poison was another enjoyable read from Roxanne St. Claire and is no doubt another sexy and fun addition to the Bullet Catcher series. For only .99 cents, pick this one up!

Decided to read this novella as a sample for the Bullet Catcher series. I just finished the Barefoot Bay series and loved it. I can tell this series is different, in the way Marie Force's Gansett Island is different from her Fatal series, but I still love it. Hopefully I feel the same way after book 1 in this series!

What a great addition to the Bullet Catchers! I loved this short. Benjamin Youngblood was a wonderful hero. I loved Callie, her spunk, her courage. Because this was short, it was nonstop suspense from page one to the end. What a great book!

Pretty good for a Novella... From me, that's high praise. I dislike novellas, as they're too short and the story generally suffers from it.

This story was just too quick for me to really get into. It was hard for me to really buy into their relationship.
