This was a great sequel to evolution and I much prefered this to the first in the series. It introduces great characters like Georgia (I can't wait until she is looking into more) or Nathan or Kai (geek nerd who surfs. How awesome is that??) but I feel like it lacked a bit in other characters. You see Anna and Dave but they feel more like cutout characters than actually developed characters. Maybe that is because you're seeing the novel through the eyes of a seventeen year old girl, but I would love those characters to be seen more. They've been there since the beginning but nothing is really happening with them. They just stay there in the back of the novel until something happens.
Also, the pacing seems a bit off. Maybe that is because nearly all the major (and minor) characters can teleport but in one minute they're doing something and literally thirty seconds later they're in a different country (and continent) doing something else. And then they're on the beach for like three chapters. It just feels strange.
Despite all the complaints, I am loving this series!

Jade is still in shock after walking in on her own mother's murder scene, not long ago. What shocked her even more was that the killer was still lurking in her house, waiting for the moment to take her life as well. The only thing keeping her from meeting her mother's fate was her boyfriend, who whisked her away to Thailand before she could be caught in the murder plot. Jade is more confused than ever when she is informed that her mother was not, in fact dead, but badly injured, and kidnapped by the same psycho that planned to kill her. However, her mother's time is running out. If Jade can't manage to solve a series of cryptic messages, her mother will not be the only person close to her that will die. Lives are in Jade's hands; a secret will be discovered that will alter her life forever. If you liked the first book in this series, I would recommend this book to you.

I got this in a bundle with the first book, which is why I read it even though I didn't care about the first book very much. I liked the characters better in this second novel, although they still didn't have that much of a personality. I feel like most characters in this series are very plain, they are either good (pretty much everyone) or bad (DD, Chrissy and Georgine/Georgina whatever her name was) The plottwist were very predictable imo, and nothing in this book really surprised me. This book had a bit more plot than the first book, so I liked that, but it doesn't really make me want to read the next book.

I knew it. The DD initial isn't hard to guess, but after the revelation, accepting the truth about how psycho one can become is an entirely different story. Especially one that has blood relations. I wonder what his end game is. If I were to speculate, I'd guess that he needs her to help him with something, which is why he's so desperate to have Jade mastering all her abilities, no matter the consequences.
I'm excited and can't wait to read the third book to learn more about Jade's fate and abilities and if Chelsea ends up with Lucas. This book contains all elements, relaxing, suspense, heart-wrenching, fun and romance. A simple yet great read, indeed.

I only read this because it came free with the first book.
Jade was actually even stupider in this book than the previous one. Some psycho is playing games and out to get her and she keeps teleporting off by herself. She's (still) more interested in having sex with her boyfriend than following up on any bits of information they find.
Nothing much seems to happen for the first 80% of the book. I knew immediately who the villain was and once he started sending notes with his initials it should have been glaringly obvious to them all.
Once again a fast and easy ending. I definitely won't be reading any more of this series.

I'm almost certain I've read this previously, but I went through it again just to be sure.
It's part two of a teen paranormal thriller. The MC is getting much better at handing her special powers, but the threats from an unknown enemy are becoming more frequent and more intense. She picks up some new friends through her boyfriend, and also a new rival. One of her old friends continues to cling. The ending may show a way to confront her enemy.
I haven't yet read book three that I remember, and I greatly look forward to doing so.

WOW, what a great book. I loved it. I enjoyed the 1st book but this one was even better.
After Jade's mother is murdered she disappears with Aiden. From here we get to meet new characters who are awesome also. I cannot wait for the next instalment.

So so good... Jade finally knows what she is capable of and has to master her abilities. I love her strength and loyalty to her friends. Her life is a mystery and because of it everyone she knows is in danger. Fast paced story and amazing surprises. Could not put it down.

Once again starts off with a bang. I really enjoyed this one over the first. There was so much going on and intro of new characters. A++.

Loved this entire series. It kept me from start to finish for them all. Completely love the whole family. Completely messed up and all made it all that more enjoyable and enthralling.

What a twist!!
I'm so happy I bought the second book. I'm loving this series and I'm definitely not a young adult any more. The writing is great and the story flows well.

Kelly Carrero has left me hanging on the edge once again!
Tormented was a great, compelling sequel to the first book - Evolution. Jade and Aiden are still that romantic power couple that I loved and we were introduced to some new characters as well. At first, I was hesistant about giving this book five stars because some parts were dragged out. In some parts, they were just talking about transporting and putting up walls to block thoughts. Nevertheless, it was worth it all at the end of the book. There were little heart-racing moments where I was left wondering what's going to happen next, that helped balance out the slow moments.
I can't wait to read the rest of the series! The ending left me absolutely breathless. I let out a breath that I didn't even know I was holding.

I love this series, and can't believe I had waited so long to read this 2nd book. It got lost in the pile of books I needed to read for review, and finally found it again. I feel bad that I waited so long. But in my defense, I had my Kindle Fire die, and it was replaced twice, now got the 8.9 screen one and had not loaded all the cloud books onto it. Anyway, I am glad I stumbled across it in my cloud and read it. Now am itching to read the rest in the series. As soon as I can get them, I sure will, now that I am not as overloaded with review books. Playing catch up on old request.
If your one who likes movies like X-Men, and just in general people with special abilities, then you will like this series. I like the different locations that this takes place in, being from the States myself, I like reading books that take place in other locations like Australia and England for example. It feels like I am there, and since this author does an amazing job on the descriptions I feel a part of it.
This book picks up soon after the cliffhanger of book one, where Jade walks in on the murder scene of her mother. The twists that come about in this book are amazing and I did not see them coming. I still love the relationship between Jade and Aiden, and yeah, Aiden is still hot, sweet, just overall a great guy. I love him even more.
I was glued to my Kindle with this, had me up late at night reading, as I could not put it down. It was intense, and suspenseful too. And wow , that revelation at the end was sure something. Whew, can't wait to get my hands on the next books.
Guess one good thing about waiting to read this one (even if it was by mistake, lol) is I can now read them all back to back when I get them.
I do not want to give anything away, so just go get these books! You won't be sorry.

I'm not going to write much, as I'm going to say much of the same thing I said in the first of the series. Just note, it's another well written book by Kelly Carrero.
(Should the author read this review: *I'm not an author, I've never written a book. I'm always cautious critiquing a book. But this is what I need to say.)
The writing is wonderful for a beginning author. The structure of the sentence is well defined. As in the first book, the cadence of the writing is perfect. It's easy to read, read, read. When I looked at the clock, I thought, "Wow, it's been an hour already?"
The delivery of the story, or how events unfold, is a little juvenile. As the characters in the book are high school aged, perhaps the story is more appropriate to the 13 - 17 year age range. For example, Kelly does a great job building up the tension. And then, the tension resolves (in what I feel) prematurely.
All in all, I really enjoyed the book. If anyone has a day to spare reading, I recommend downloading the first book free. The author does allow sharing of the second book (as of 4/20/13). But for $2.99, it stays on your e-reader device for all time!

Not good. Yes, I could see the plot twists coming from a mile away. No, none of the characters were any more developed or likeable than in the first book. I would not have read it if I hadn't gotten it in a bundle with the first book. I definitely will not be reading any more.

I have nothing but praise for this book, it had everything from romance to action. The characters are constantly evolving and growing as the story develops which allows them to seem real and believable. Following Jade through this story I was thrown through so many twists and turns that left me guessing and also left me quite shocked.
Kelly Carrero's ability to let you as a reader think you know important and key knowledge only to inform you that you have it wrong is amazing! quite a few times in the story I found myself saying "I know whats going to happen" or "I know who did it" only to find out I was wrong and the truth was so much more shocking! I also love her ability to make the characters grow and change without making it seem unbelievable and allowing the reader to become more attached to the main characters.
Overall this book lead me through a whirl wind of emotions as I followed Jade and the others through this fast paced book that left me guessing. I would highly recommend this series to everyone it has action, suspense, romance and its a thrilling read.

Another amazing book by a very talented author. This book picks up where book 1 left off. The story is very easy to read and understand and I would say a younger child could easily read and absorb this series. They recommend YA but I would say that anyone ages 10 and up can easily read, understand and even enjoy this book.
It is a fast book to read, I in fact read book 2 and book 3 in the same afternoon sitting. I enjoyed this series and will continue reading the next books in the series.
I don't think that this book was as good as book 1, but it is a definite tie in to book 3 and keeps the story alive and moving at a steady pace.
What this book does do is keeps you reading the series, so if you want a series which doesn't seem to diminish in quality as you read, then this is the one.

This is what a thriller truly is!
It's exciting, heart pounding, exhilarating!
You never know what's coming next!
It's a book that you read way unto the night without realizing, and once you do realize how late it is you tell yourself "just one more chapter" but once you get there, your still not ready to put the book down. :)
The ending makes you beg for more.
Honestly you'll want to have the next book in the series ready before you finish this one so you can continue the story right away.
The ending is SHOCKING!

I read this in one day. Wondering who DD is will keep you guessing throughout the entire book. I love how Kelly chose to make Aiden and Jade a united front and they always stick together to support each other. The reason this did not get a full five stars from me is due to the constant reference in the beginning of this book to book one. I felt while some remembrance to things from the first book was useful, the detail that the author went to was way too much in most cases. That space could have been used for something more useful or left out altogether. In other words, we already read about that once and if someone needs a reminder they can go back and read book one. Other than that, I loved the sequel and don't regret my purchase. I can't wait until book three comes out.

This book was completely and utterly amazing, despite every shock, special moment and murder, with the sorrow that follows this is indefinitely a book to read, I read it especially quicker as an ebook and I normally always read books in their physical state. Everyone is at risk and no one is safe forever...

WOW!!! I thought the first book was great and this one kept me on my toes. I couldn't put the book down. I love the relationship between Aiden & Jade. I am so pissed at her mom!! I still don't fully trust Lucas or Georgia for some reason. I just feel like Lucad is up to something. I had a feeling DD was going to be Jade's father or Lucas!!! But the book kept making me second guess myself. Such a good book. I'm hoping there will be a third book. It can't possibly end there. Such a great read!!!

I am really liking this series. The twist on the psycho in this book really kept me interested. Totally didn't expect the twist ending. Only reason this doesn't have 5 stars is the grammar. I can't tell if it's bad editing or just something lost in the Australian/British/American verbiage. I'm not sure where the author is from, so it might explain the reading issues I have.

i think i was waiting for something to catch me. i suppose it was a good read and it was the second in the series so i really just read it looking for that 'something' that never happened in the first book of the series. not sure if i'll bother with the third.

I love the idea of being super human and the people in this book are amazing. It was good to get to know the characters even better and it will be interesting to see what happens next.
