This was a book that I had picked up to help me out with my college classes, and I went through it very thoroughly as I used it to aide in accomplishing assignments. Overall it was an ok quick overview of EVERYTHING to do with HTML5, but it didn't really have much of a focus on any one area and expound upon it much. There were a lot of great little tips though and I learned a few things from it, so I mark that as a win. A solid 3.5 stars for me.
I read this in preparation for taking the 70-480 exam. The book is slightly out of date, but overall, it covers a lot of good ground. I have been programming for years, and I learned a few things here and there. The content is presented in sensible chunks, and the exercises are helpful. Overall, I am glad I went through the book. Having mostly worked with Angular for web development, it was cool to see the JavaScript building blocks behind the framework.
Too much Microsoft/Windows oriented. Another minus - some important matters were explained in 1-2 pages, and other - not so important for the exam - whole chapters, that wasted your time. Otherwise, it was helpful and easy to read :)
You can get lost in this book and have a sense of over-whelming doom take hold of you that you will never pass the 70-480, but otherwise it is a pretty good book.
Good book to prep you for the first certification exam. Dry read however it does sum up of what is one the test. What you can do is just to the skim thru each chapter and just do the exercises of each to give you a good base for the test.
The test was alot easier then I thought. However I know the next two for this certification path should be more difficult.
Also skip sections on Microsoft Expressions. It is a waste of time. I feel like it was Microsoft way to try and push their derp products.
Very complete book. A nice thing is that it explains without reserve the basic of the technologies without take from granted anything, and then continue with advanced topics. Moreover there are a lot of exercises and case of study.
This book was a decent starter for somebody who has no experience with HTML5, JavaScript or CSS. I had problems getting a few of the chapter-end programs to work, and I get the feeling that the book presents a lot more topics than are actually on the exam. I shall find out as I continue studying.
This was absolutely the best source I have yet to find to explain how the functionality is practical to non developers who want to develop a website for themselves for fun like for their own blog or a small business. Excellently written
The training guide should help me with the 70-480 exam from Microsoft. Unfortunately the book has a lot of content that is not required for the exam but misses more than one topic that is required.
outdated, but still pretty good and basic information; you will need to do so much research to find the actual support for many things, and also find out the ones that are deprecated
