Everybody knows the best lovers are geeks.

It’s time again for the annual Comic Book and Horror Convention. Normally, Deke liked to avoid these things. While he may be a well-known actor, he wasn’t hunky or a beefcake and he was always overlooked. In fact, most people like to call him 'the geek of geeks'. But, the producers of his popular TV series don’t care and they order Deke to go. So, while he knows he won’t have any fun he has no choice but to attend.

Blake harboured a crush on Deke even before the other man became famous. When he finds out that Deke will be at the convention, Blake knows he has to attend as well. Since he is trying to promote his own comic, Blake decides that he can mix a little business with his fun.

To Blake’s dismay, not only does Deke not remember him, but the actor refuses to believe that Blake could have any romantic feelings for a geek. Blake decides that he can’t let this opportunity slip through his fingers, though. He may have given up on Deke all those years ago, but not this time. Will Blake be able to convince Deke to give him a chance? Or will the final credits roll before they find love?

Blake is literally a starving artist ( comic books )living with his mother's cats in her basement. He scratches together all the money he can to go the biggest comic convention when he finds out his high school crush and now well known actor Deke ( aka Eric) will be there. And as they say the rest is history!
It's sweet, a bit Cinderfella, easy and quick!

Quite a comfort read because I knew exactly what kind of story I would get -- I have read enough of Ms. Hecht's stories for that matter. There was no surprises (which sometimes is a good thing). Both of the young men were likeable. I liked the idea that they actually "knew" one another before Deke became famous and Blake started his comic books. Blake had been crushing over Deke since they were still in school. It added the nuance of their relationship because it wasn't exactly insta-love.

3.5. Very cute Cinderfella story (I mean really, sleeping in afterbirth!) with a mom who pretends to be decent but isn't. Im glad it worked out for these guys (and I love a strong female friend!)

Blake has travelled to a convention to show off his comic books, he has a small following and he hopes to entice more… but his real reason for being at the convention is to meet the man he has fantasised about since high school Deke (Eric). Deke is in a popular TV show and always has fans coming onto him on the off chance that he will introduce them to his co-stars, when he meets Blake he finds it hard to believe that the cute artist is interested in him until he remembers him from high school, now he just has to convince Blake that together they could be so much more than either of them are alone.

This is a really cute geek love story about two men who connect years after they first knew each other. Blake has had a crush on Deke for years, ever since they were in high school now he has the chance to meet Deke again but Deke doesn’t remember him. Deke is intrigued by the comic book creator and as he spends more time with him remembers the quite shy guy from school, now he has to convince Blake that his offer isn’t charity and that he genuinely wants a relationship with the sexy man.

I really liked these two characters and the way that over the space of a week they connected and fell in love, the way that Deke’s memory was jogged and he wishes that he had taken more notice of Blake in school. Blake doesn’t want to be a burden, and you can understand why when you realise the psychological crap that his mom pulled on him. I really liked how the characters came together and they were really hot together as well.

I will recommend this to those who love geeks falling in love, a great storyline and a very happy ending.

Blake is a comic book creator who's down on his luck. He's had to drop out of college and move into his mother's basement, which he has to share with all her cats. However, when he finds out that his old high-school crush Eric, who is now a famous actor in a zombie TV-series, and is going by the name Deke, is attending the Comic Book and Horror Convention, Blake scrambles together the last of his money to go to the convention too, setting up a both trying to sell his comics.

At the convetion it turns out that Deke doesn't remember Blake, but that's not surprising since Deke's a few years older, but he does know of and love Blake's comics! Since Deke's famous, his public declaration that he loves Blake's comics does wonders for the sales and attention Blake and his comics are getting, but the best thing for Blake is that Deke wants to talk to him too.

They have dinner and when Deke understands how little money Blake has he invites Blake to share his hotel suite so Blake can save a few bucks on cancelling his own room. And no, Deke didn't seem to be doing this just to get into Blake's pants, Deke is a genuinely nice guy!

They don't have sex right away, but as the days pass and they get to know each other better (and Deke/Eric actually does start to remember Blake from high-school) they are more and more attracted to each other, so they do start having sex. They also fall in love and it's actually hard to say which came first, the falling in love or the having sex.

I liked that Deke was already out, so being seen with Blake and having photos taken of them kissing and hanging our was no problem at all.

It was a sweet and believable story about two likeable young men and I wouldn't mind reading more about Blake and Deke in the future.

I am not a comic book person myself, but I liked the environment in this book.

Deke meets someone who knows him from back-when. I like stories where the real people interact, not the carefully constructed facades.
