Since some children prefer non-fiction, I am always in search of readable non-fiction that i can pair with my favorite picture books in storytime, and this title with photos of real goats and simple text combined very nicely with Paul Galdone's The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We read only some of the pages and talked about the pictures. I am definitely going to look for other titles in the series--Turkeys on the Family Farm will probably be making an appearance in November. Reading non-fiction is one way to boost print motivation for those inquiring minds that hunger for facts and want to learn about the real world.

This is a fantastic non-fiction picture book about that beloved yet sometimes difficult barn animal: the goat. Kids will love the beautiful photographs and the easy to understand and interesting facts about goats. This book would be a wonderful addition to any elementary school library or primary grade classroom.

Great photos, some facts, but it sure lacked a lot. I know it's for kids, but it wasn't quite honest about food. There are just so many itneresting facts I've learned from my friend who has goats, I wish it were better for the kids (human kids reading it, not goat kids).
