Involved in voluntary medical work abroad, David Harper finds himself caught up in the Afghanistan war, and his adventures there bring him in close contact with the cruel treatment of prisoners. Escaping death by inches he finds himself in Pakistan, where he witnesses captured slaves displayed for pleasure in a nightclub and learns that, properly trained, women can find immense pleasure too. Returning to England he is introduced to submissive women, and sells his share in a medical practice to create a training centre. All is going very well - until one particular woman turns the tables on him...
This was a very unique plot that kept me reading. There were parts that made me frown and skipped through the section, but that was just because of my personal beliefs (or rather, it was a bit "taboo"). But overall, this was an interesting read once I got over the "taboo" parts. I enjoyed this book very much.
This book is definitely worth reading. So give it a try.
Afghan Bound tells the story of David Harper who, in his journeys through Afghanistan and Pakistan, is exposed to female submission and all that entails. On his return to England, he finds himself underwhelmed by the women he encounters. He soon determines that he is not alone in his taste for submission, and this pent up desire gives him the opportunity to open a school devoted to slave training.
There are definitely some ideas in this book that readers might find challenging and quite possibly distasteful, but it somehow works (rather than a suspension of disbelief, let's call it a suspension of distaste). It's all dealt with here - submission, slavery. S/M, torture, and so forth.
In its treatment of the subject of submission, Afghan Bound reminded me more of the "Story of O" rather than the myriad contemporary "50 Shades"-type stories (which was certainly refreshing).
The book is well written and I especially enjoyed the different locales and how the protagonist navigates the changes in his fortune.
There's an unexpected twist at the end of the book that sets up the sequel, which I'll be sure to check out.
For those who are fans of BDSM fiction, Afghan Bound is certainly recommended.
If you enjoyed the Story of O this is probably right up your alley. David basically runs a school to train wives and daughters complete submission to their husbands and future husbands. The books tells the story of how he came to start such a school from his experiences in the middle east. There are few scenes that made me uncomfortable but the authors writing style really struck a cord with me and I kept reading. This book is not for everyone, if slavery, forced/coerced submission is not your thing, don't read this.
