free short story

A dangerous creature is on the loose. Evalle, Tzader and Quinn take a VIPER team just outside of Atlanta for a sting operation that takes a deadly turn. Killing the half-human creature would be easy, but national security is on the line until the team can discover who created the monster, and whether more like it are waiting in the wings to be unleashed on the human world. The op goes bad with Beladors in the middle of it, and nothing turns out as expected, least of all for Evalle

This is a short story that you can get for free in many places. One of them is the official page of Sherrilyn Kenyon. I want to stop starting sagas and then forget about them, so one of my really late New Year resolutions is going to be keep reading at least the book series I have started this year. And reconnect with some of the ones I forgot about a lot time ago (soooo many!!). I have even created a Goodreads shelf for them in order to keep them in mind.

The story of this book takes place several months before the first one. Some VIPER agents (Evalle included) have to investigate the weird killings of several expensive cows. They find that the culprit is a bizarre creature that someone has engineered. They must investigate the issue and neutralize the crazy guy experimenting with monsters.

Taking into account this is a pretty short book, I don’t have much to say. It’s pure action, which is what I was looking for. There is not character development. The contrary would be weird, because this story takes place before the first book. Fortunately, there is enough asskicking to forget and forgive that there is no kind of depth storytelling in the bunch of pages of Fire Bound.

OK. Maybe I have lied a little bit. We get to know the origin story of Evalle’s pet, so that’s kind of great and unexpected. He is such a cute gargoyle thingy!! I wonder if what we have learned about it (him? her?) will have an impact in future books… Wait and read, I suppose. Will I stay true to my word and read Alterant this year? I hope so!!

Great short story of how Eval picked up her gargoyle. I have two myself but they are called Chihuahuas.

This is a nice little story about a team of superhumans with telekinetic powers sent by the government to investigate the strange killings of genetically modified cows by a flying half human, half bat creature. The team track the creature down to the isolated lab of a rich mad scientist with no humanity, set to unleash his monster out into the world at his command. First the mad scientist wants to test out the superhumans against his creatures…https://chroniclesoftania.wordpress.c...

Again I found a good read in this book. I would not mind more stories in this series.

Cutish one sitting quickie isn't much more than a couple to scenes that belonged in Blood Trinity but would have felt awkward and unnecessary. A mission puts Evalle on a mission working with her favorite Beladors and gives a cute meet for Feenix. Rating:3.5stars

Loved the short story!
Basically, Evalle, Casper, Tzader, Trey & Quinn are on a VIPER mission - they're investigating genetically special cow deaths at a farmer's place - the deaths were unusual & could've been a demon - so they lure the THING that killed the 2 cows with normal pregnant cows & this human, demon-like creature, with wings & human yellow eyes shows up & they manage to capture it - but there may be more so Quinn keeps his mind control on it & it leads them back to its home which is private property of this doctor, Sar B-something, whatever his name is. Inside, it's a nice place but in the parlour, they're attacked by more of the demonic, human creatures & trapped in this room - Evalle & Casper leave the others to hold off the creatures while they investigate some more & they discover that Sar is actually a Dalfour sorceror, a family of sorcerors thought to be dead & he's created these evil creatures & has even labeled them with One, Two, Three, Four, etc & whether or not they passed certain tests. So Evalle manages to kill him by throwing her dagger at him & the creature that led them to his house catches him from where it's chained & kills him - but not before he released the others. So now the house is on fire & all 5 of them manage to escape & meet up outside just as backup arrives - shitload of good that does now - so anyway, Evalle had seen one of the tiny creatures looking fearful & scared, not murderous & it survived the fire & she protects it & that's where Feenix came from - her little pet & IT"S SO CUTE!!! :D
So she keeps him & YAY! Cute ending :)

I loved this short story because it tells about how she comes to own her very own gargoyle. One also gets to see the "normal" type of missions she goes on, ones that don't involve the end of the world type scenarios.
