I've been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes). I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There's no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.
I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. I’m back in New Zealand now, but I’m always plotting new trips. If you’d like to see some of my travel snapshots, have a look at the Travel Diary page (updated every month).
So far, I've worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer's mill.
Free Psy-Changeling short (very short) story at Nalini Singh's website. It takes talent to captivate readers in two sentences flat and to then complete the whole "story" in only a page or two. True, it's just a segment, and it would never work if we didn't already know the characters and setting, but still. Kudos to Singh. Masterfully done!
My emotional response: I was charmed! Loved this lighthearted, amusing glimpse into daily life in the Snow Dancer Wolf Den. I got all gooey over Hawke's perfect male-bonding moment with adorable little Ben. Nothing condescending. No baby talk. And Singh can actually write children's dialogue:
"I stalkeded you!"
Makes me miss my nephews, about the same age and with the same rascally ways. Thanks, Nalini!
Question: I have read about 6 books in the series, but cannot recall -- who are Ben's parents??
Update: Thanks to Monique for the answer: "Ben is the son of Ava who was mentioned in Play of Passion and described to be a dominant maternal female. She is a friend of Lara's."
A cute little read (on Nalini's site) where Hawke is being stalked by a young pup... I love these reads, although this one was only about 2 or 3 paragraphs long, they remind me so much of the world that I love to read about...
Looking forward to the next book 'Shield of Winter'.
Rah! Ben is the cutest pup ever! He 'stalkeded' Hawke.
I would love to see a glimpse into the future where pups and cubs like Ben, Marlee, Julian and Roman, Keenan and Noor are older. I want to see who the mate with and what these children will become in their packs when they are of age.
This was a lovely short that shows Hawke going about his day, doing Alpha tasks while a pack cub practices his stalking techniques on Hawke. Very cute and sweet. :D
I short vignette that is part of the various extra stories that show glimpses of the life of the characters from Singh's Psy-Changeling series, STALKING HAWKE is one of my favorites. The story shows a sweet protective side of Hawke and I loved seeing the pack happy after the events of KISS OF SNOW. The story is about one of the young wolves "stalking" the alpha leader Hawke. Sweet and funny, I love it.
Cute, little short provided on Nalini's website about Hawke & his wee stalker, Ben. I love seeing Ben grow throughout the series. I'm hoping the series continues long enough for us to see him find his mate. :)
Talk about an ADORABLE story! i just LOVE little Ben and his curious temperament. I sure do hope he gets a book of his own in the future. Probably with him and little Marley? It's sure to be a great read!
This a short found on Nalini Singh's website. This is a wonderful look into the daily life of Snow Dancer's Alpha. It does nothing to advance the overall plot in this world but fans of Psy/Changeling world will love this lighthearted glimpse into their lives.
So cute, little Ben "stalking" Hawke! I just loved this little short as the cub learns how to be stealthy and Hawke and the other adults encourage it. Another reason to love this Alpha wolf!
