Gosho Aoyama (青山剛昌) is a Japanese manga artist. He is best known as the creator of the manga series Detective Conan (known in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom as Case Closed).
Aoyama made his debut as a manga artist with the work Chotto Matte which was published in the weekly magazine Shōnen Sunday on winter of 1987. Shortly after that, another work by Aoyama, Magic Kaito, was published on the same magazine.
This is the first volume where we meet Toru. I like how his character develops later on in the manga/anime and I am generally curious about the turns he will take. However the first case he shows up in is super impressive and for me a new and different case because it focuses on a different idea judgement for me (I don´t want to spoil anything for you, but read the care ;))
There’s a lot to like in this volume, even though, like the others, the logic can be flawed (like always!). The introduction of new characters, Chiba’s first love arc, and a surprisingly tragic case make it an engaging read. I’m keen to read more!
This volume picks up exactly where volume 74 left off. If it has been a while, I suggest reading the last case to refresh your memory. This next story is an interesting premise...Detective Richard Moore has secretly been doing good deeds for people for FREE!?!? Too good to be true? What is the reason for these actions? Then...a case of murder involves this good deeds Detective Moore (or is it really Detective Richard Moore)!? 3 potential suspects...who did it!?! The next case involves Detective Chiba and a series of death threatening messages which may or may not be a chance to connect with her childhood crush in solving this string of mysterious messages. The final case of this volume involves a death at a wedding! But it is not just as simple as that as there are layers to this case! This case feels awfully tragic to me...more so than most, but it wraps up at the end of this volume so for me it's a plus!
We finish up the case with Heiji. Then we have a mystery involving a man impersonating Mori to advise (and impress) and old woman landlord, but Ran and Conan see he's harmless and help him solve the murder of one of her tenants. Next is the continuation of Chiba and his lost grade school crush, when his car is vandalized and the traffic cops (including Neiko, his crush) let him (and the detective boys) help investigate the serial vandalism. The best (and most disturbing) story is when a high school friend of Mori's is getting married his fiancé ends up dead. We are introduced to another detective, Amuro, who is so impressed with Mori (or rather Conan through Mori) that he declares himself his apprentice.
I’m reading too much Detective Conan manga...I’m back to figuring out the cases. That, or they’re a little more simpler. Either could be true at this point. Lol.
Anyway, we’ve been introduced to the character I was most eager to read about. I already know all about this character—or as much as we can know about a character in a mystery series—from Detective Conan movies. I’m almost caught up to the current volumes in English print and that makes me sad.
General Synopsis: As mentioned above, I am going to write a proper review for this soon, but I have a few books ahead of this one in the queue, so I cannot stop reading DC NOW! That's sacrilege. I have decided to read all the chapters available up to now (we are almost to 1000!) As you can see, I am totally fangirling over here and I don't care, because this is one of my favorite manga series, ever! But all of this aside, there are a few things I wanted to list so I don't need to go back and look everything up when I do finally sit down and write my fangirl review. ✌🏻
DO NOT click on the spoiler link if you don't want to read all the cases in this volume, because it will ruin it for you. On the other hand, if you're a fan like me or are looking for a certain case (and please note, these are how I have set the cases), etc. click away, that's why it's there.
Another spoiler link, so don't click if you don't want to ruin this manga. I am going to include the characters introduced or as the series continues are in this volume. Personally, I think us DC fans love certain characters more than other (yes, Heiji, I mean you!), so sometimes when we are re-reading this series (like all the time!) you might wish to start at a specific case or start when a certain character is involved.
Characters in this volume:
Personal Opinion: #1, I never call this CASE CLOSED. If you do, you're not a true fan of this series, so don't even bother reading my review or my personal opinions. I'm sorry if I offend you, but you offended me first by telling me you want to read CASE CLOSED or you just love Jimmy.
#2, as you can tell by #1, I read this online. I would never waste my money buying a manga series in english that cannot get the name correct and mess up the main characters to make it appear more "ENGLISH." I am so happy I don't run a blog and this isn't a review on Sailor Moon, #1, because I have a huge soap box tirade against DiC. I also don't think there is anything against reading something online. Comics, which is what manga are, are meant to be read and shared and sometimes paying over $10 is too much in my opinion. Plus, I read the newest chapters as soon as they are released from Japan, because I would never miss a release of DC. So this is my personal shout out to you translators from me, Thank You!
THE FALSE DETECTIVE AND THE DANGEROUS LIE Ran and Conan grow suspicious when Kogoro begins acting strangely and skipping meals. Their investigation leads them to an elderly woman who claims Kogoro has been helping her with household chores. However, they soon discover that the man posing as Kogoro is actually a young student helping the woman’s granddaughter. Just as the truth unravels, a scream from a nearby apartment reveals a gruesome crime. The situation becomes more dangerous when they learn that the impersonator has been lying about helping the woman’s granddaughter, raising questions about his true motives.
VANDALISM AND A DANGEROUS PATTERN Ayumi, Mitsuhiko, and Genta stumble upon a vandalized car with threatening graffiti. The case takes a personal turn when the car’s owner is revealed to be Officer Chiba’s friend, and similar cases have been happening around town. Officer Yumi and rookie Officer Naeko—Chiba’s first love—join the investigation. As the Detective Boys explore the parking lots, they witness suspicious activity from various passersby. The case takes a deadly turn when a man is nearly killed during a car break-in, forcing Conan to connect the dots and expose the underlying motive behind the attacks.
FIERY FAREWELL AND HIDDEN SECRETS Kogoro, Ran, and Conan attend a pre-wedding party at Ristorante Sundayrino. The bride mysteriously leaves to take a phone call and moments later, her car explodes in flames. DNA evidence points to her fiancé as the killer, but he protests his innocence, revealing that the bride had hired Tooru Amuro to investigate him for infidelity. Conan pieces together the deeper truth: the couple was orphaned by the same hotel fire years ago, and the revelation of this connection had pushed the bride into uncovering a secret.
- bawa batu selalu buat nimpuk Heiji! pake main kabur gitu aja iih - lagi-lagi disisipi cerita cinta: kali ini tentang cinta pertama detektif Chiba (yang di seri sebelum-sebelumnya sempat dibahas) -paling nampol sama punch line nya Haibara: "kenapa para polisi (baca:pria) di sekitarku bodoh & nggak peka? merepotkan saja!" *toss sama Haibara* :D - kemarin Sera sekarang kedatangan detektif baru lagi: Tooru namanya - kasus terakhir tentang kematian calon pengantin wanita miris juga, lagi-lagi tentang..... cinta. - harga komik naik seribu: dari 17.500 jadi 18.500 :s
Sudah lama tidak membaca Conan. Hampir lupa kalau ceritanya seru ^_^
Lanjutan kasus ilusi optik. Baru saja membaca tentang ilusi Jastrow di sebuah majalah anak-anak. Jadinya ga terlalu bingung lagi.
Kasus kedua tentang Kogori Mouri palsu yang suka berbohong. Kasus ketiga tentang sambungan kisah cinta pertama detektif Chiba.
Moga panjang umur deh buat pengarangnya.
But I'll be waiting. Always.
