Life isn’t always about fairytales and happily ever-after’s according to Seth Jordan. After having his world shattered and heartbroken beyond repair, he had always sworn off the idea of love. He was perfectly content with continuing his life with worthless one night stands and no strings attached sex. That was until one blue-eyed blonde managed to seep into places he thought were cemented shut.
Like a jack hammer, Mallory Prentice came into Seth’s life and cracked the hard exterior that surrounded his heart. She’s the one woman he was starting to feel might be worth taking a chance on.
But life doesn't always hand you the easy road. Sometimes you are constantly hit with the bad and have no hope of any good ever showing up.
Will Seth and Mallory realize that ultimately they are the ones who are in control of their life’s outcome? Will they embrace the future and fight for their own happiness, or will they keep lingering in past mistakes and let it keep them apart?
Life is all about forgiveness and second chances. Once you come to that conclusion and just go for it, there is…no going back.
Erika Ashby grew up an Army Brat, spending most of her childhood in Oklahoma, where she finally put roots down. She currently lives in Edmond, OK where she faithfully attends North Church with her kids. She's a blessed mom of 4 who loves Jesus and serving others. Her hobbies include attending dirt track races, concerts, reading, DIY, and making red dirt shirts. It wasn’t until the ripe age of 27 when she realized she had a hidden passion for reading. Up until that point in her life, she claimed to have hated it. Shortly after, she was hit with another revelation: the desire to tell stories. Knowing she had failed all writing assignments in school, she set out on this journey mainly to prove to herself she could do it. So, here she is today, proving it. Erika wants to encourage anyone with a dream to go for it.
For Seth and Mallory sometimes life just doesn’t seem fair. Loving each other is easier said than done with life throws in their way obstacles and the past starts to catch up to them. The past will rear its ugly head and threaten their future together. Emotions will be at an all time high and feelings will cause hearts to break and souls to be destroyed. Is Seth strong enough to fight his past without losing his future? If Mallory strong enough and stay by his side at all costs knowing that her heart is on the chopping block? Life is not always fair and doesn’t always play by the rules and for Mallory and Seth they know life can be ugly but for them there is no going back.
"I want you to come for my baby. I want you to let yourself go and fall all around me. Don't hold back. Whatever you do tonight is about us not holding back."
Overall this story pulled me in so many directions I felt like I was on one hell of a rollercoaster and I loved every twist, turn, and deep. Nothing comes easy for these two and that is what kept me flipping the page. I needed more, wanted more and Mallory and Seth gave me that. It was a crazy beautiful messed up ride and I was front and center the entire time. My stomach was in knots at times and other times my heart was swooning for the love of these two.
So many things happened that I was totally taken aback by because I didn’t expect half of what Erika threw my way. She had me guess what was going to happen all the time. There were moments where what I was reading ripped my heart out and had me feeling all sorts of….
There were other times where Mallory being the feisty firecracker that she is had me feeling rolling on the floor laughing with her wit. She is such a strong and beautiful character. On the outside she presents herself as strong, independent, firecracker but secretly is also broken, lonely, craving the love from a man that seems so far out of reach it leaves her void of emotions. She broke my heart on many occasions through this story because she wanted so badly to finally feel like she belonged, to finally feel like someone truly loved her for the true person she is and slowly it seemed like it was slipping through her fingertips. After everything she went through she still and always would love Seth.
"I know he doesn't like brunettes. I also know the reason he got off so fast was because as he was pounding himself into your slutty shriveled twat, he was thinking about me. I also know that he fucked you from behind. Wanna know why he did that? Because you're nothing but a dirty little slut, and he didn't want to look at your face while he got off. Why don't you find yourself some self-respect and class sweetheart."
Oh Seth I didn’t want to fall in love with him for everything he did to Mallory but it was hard not to, life truly has kicked him in the ass more times than I could count and deep down he did what he thought was right for everyone involved even though it broke his heart over and over again. He had so much he wanted to say that he kept in. He craved the love of Mallory but circumstances stood in his way of actually going after what he wanted. Even for a badass rocker he is passionate and loving. Something about Mallory brought out his romantic side and he swooned me. I wanted to wrap him in my arms and comfort him and tell him to follow his heart and he deserved a lot more than he thought he did. He held so much in that it almost killed him.
"This is what you need Mal. I'm going to show you what I feel for you by making you feel. Let me make you forget, just for tonight. Okay."
Although I did cry during this book, I also laughed, and got very angry. I went through just about every emotion you could think of and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Seth surprised me a lot with how he handled a lot of the things thrown his way. He had me feeling….
I feel like we got a lot from both characters and Erika did a wonderful job letting us know exactly how each of them were feeling when they were feeling it. She made them go through hell and back in their relationship and I loved it! I love watching a couple fights to be together and go through twists and turns to make it work. It makes the ending bitter sweet and I got everything I wanted with No Going Back. Mallory and Seth’s relationship is not easy and they fought tooth and nail at every turn and it made them stronger in the end. They kept pushing when life was pushing against them and they didn’t stop, they couldn’t when the love for each other was that strong. They didn’t have a choice they had to do what they had to, to be together. But sometimes life doesn’t work out the way we want and we don’t always get what we want.
Overall No Going Back is a beautiful story about the obstacles that you go through and the ups and downs you go through to get the love you want so badly. If the love for each other is strong enough and worth it you stop at nothing until you get what you want and hold onto it for dear life was you get it and never let it go. You work your ass off to make it work and you love with every fiber of your being. You remind each other every day that you love each other through actions and words. You never stop showing them how you feel and in the end if you can look back on your life and smile you know you did what you had to do to get and keep that happiness.
For Mallory and Seth that is exactly what they had to do, they had to fight everyday and even when it looked like the cards weren’t in their favor they never stopped fighting, they never stopped believing that they deserved happiness and love whether it was with each other or moving on and loving again they wanted it, they craved it, and fought with every last ounce of themselves until they had that happiness they deserved!
I can't believe I read this even till the 60% mark. The hero is a total manwhore who claims to love the h but will gladly put his dick in any willing woman with a skirt. The ex that he almost married...whom he claimed to hate, he slept with her too. (MINUTES after rejecting the h who had come to try and change his mind one last time on his wedding day). And what does he excuse this with? That he is a man and men have needs. OH MY GOD! I am so freaking angry! And moreso because this is what the author says is ok. She has potrayed this kind of twisted, toxic and disgusting behaviour to be true love on the H's part. The h is an absolute doormat who left a perfectly good guy who supported her during her miscarriage, as opposed to the H who was too busy sowing his oats, and gladly went back to the good for nothing bastard. Also, the MCs of the previous book, who are the H's brother and the h's best friend have to be the worst friends ever, excusing the H's actions and push the H and h together. I didn't stick around for the sickeningly sweet hea that is bound to happen, because I know I won't believe it. I can guarantee that the H will 100% cheat on her at some point in the future. I wish there was a review that was actually honest. Would have saved me from this hollow, bitter feeling in my heart.
FINALLY after savoring every word.. after taking my sweet time, I have finished NGB
If you have not read MOVING FORWARD- STOP READING THIS REVIEW-GO BUY IT AND START TODAY- it's A-mazing..
We met Seth and Mallory in MOFO and I had NO doubt their story would be nothing short of fan-freaking-tastic.. #1- Seth is a badboy tattood rocker.. HELLO #2-Mallory is the girl you want to know.. she's hilarious, beautiful, and I connected with her immediately in MoFo #3- I LOVE ROCKERS. (did I mention that)
Moving forward- this story starts where MoFo DROPPED US! Mal is Preg, Seth has no clue, and I had a feeling Erika would toy with me for a while -- and BOY DID SHE EVER.
The first 50% of this book- I HATED SETH. I can't tell you details but believe me when I tell you, It was a -grab a bottle, box of tissues, and maybe some valium kind of angst, and I LOVED to hate every second of it.
Chapter 9.. GUTTED me.. Like SNOT FACE UGLY CRY won't recover from that pain(or so I thought) kind of hurt.. No worries- you actually do recover but it's not for awhile so I am sure you will be like me and send poor Erika some hate messages..
As the story goes on I realized once again why I LOVED Derek.. Not just because he is "the perfect man" <-- yes, he is but because when he loves.. He loves HARD.
52% "We all can survive without a special person in our lives, but it's when you realize that you don't want to. They make your life better ... make you want to be a better person." <-- yep, Derek is molding baby brother into THAT kind of man.. Seth- took notes.. trust me
"All good things in life are worth the fight. " <-- Seth is listening to this advice.. he's slowly becoming less of a total D-bag to me at this point..
55%- I OFFICIALLY fell in love with Seth.. "Please, don't let me be too late.. One more chance... All I need is one more chance.""><-- see that.. THAT is what true love can do.. I truly believe God brings "the one" to you.. It's your choice to make it epic.. And Seth- yea, he realized that only ONE MAN can help him now.. And God heard that prayer-- EPIC is about to happen
57% Not full only ugly cry.. but I did tear up.. Can't tell you specifics.. but Seth got his D-bag head OUT OF HIS A$$ and admits his true feelings... it's nothing short of amazing..
"Just take my hand girl, there's no going back"
flash forward to 81-83%.... HO-LEE HOT TAKE MY PANTIES WHEN YOU STORM THROUGH MY LIFE MOTHER OF ALL HURRICANES !!
I full on have a hard core GIRL CRUSH ON MALLORY. She is me.. Or I need her to be my BFF.. Seriously, I have NEVER loved a girl in a book more than this woman. EVER.
96-97%.. As a woman.. you will pee-your-pants-need-new-grammies LAUGH OUT LOUD.
^ One of the funniest quotes happens at this point but I can't spoil it so just note-- it's GREAT..
The ending.. I could not love more.. It was .. perfect..
Their love.. Epic.. spun me off my Axel and I'm still reeling it in..THE BEST KIND OF STORY.
FIVE GIANT STARS for NGB..
Erika- babe. SO SO GOOD. Readers are going to fall in LOVE with Seth and Mallory's story.. Oh, and Nick- yea, I crushed him too.. More of him would be like icing on the big fat CAKE!
While I liked it, I didn't really love it. I think it's because of how it was written. Not to mention, the two protagonists came across as very immature. I really did feel bad for Nick. My heart went out for him. He didn't deserve what happened.
For Seth and Mallory sometimes life just doesn’t seem fair. Loving each other is easier said than done with life throws in their way obstacles and the past starts to catch up to them. Erika Ashby has done it again folks. Not Going Back has been on amazing ride, it had emotions, suspense, & laughter. I thought I enjoyed Derek & Jesika's story was intense but my, my, my Seth & Mallory's story was so intense that I could feel the tension radiating off my kindle. I loss sleep because I could not put it down, Mallory was the spicy, fiery little lady who speaks her mind & never hold back how she's feeling and I totally love that about her character. Seth's character was definitely sex on stick let me tell, & all I have to say is all praises to the APA lol. The storyline was right one point and kept you wanting more. There was a lot that was revealed and all the drama made me not want to put it down. Great book, Erika Ashby have done it again, I must say that she never cease to amaze me. I give this book five thumbs up. Again
I really enjoyed reading and I can't wait for the next! Those who do not know the series I recommend that you read the other book Moving Forward prior to better understand the story. Recommend!
4.5 stars Once you start working through your own personal demons and start to see a light at the end of the tunnel BAM! Something from your past resurfaces causing all the progress you had to just POOF evaporate as if it was nothing and you're right back at square one.
We met Mallory and Seth in Moving Forward. Her best friend Jesika and his brother Derek found love in the first book. And Seth and Mallory found lust and feelings that they were not sure they were ready to handle. And just when they thought they were ready to try, his ex Allison showed up and ruined everything. This story begins shortly after Mallory's heart was shattered by Seth and Allison at Jesika and Derek's wedding. A pregnant Mallory has no choice to but to try to move on and Seth is not even aware he is going to be a father. Seth is closed mouthed about what is really going on in his life with his ex and everyone is worried about him. So at the urging of her friends, she makes one last ditch effort to stop Seth from making a big mistake. But that meeting had consequences that no one could predict.
"It's obviously not written in the stars for us. Stupid Fucking destiny bullshit."
Mallory is a true spitfire. She has a mouth on her and is not afraid to say what she thinks most of the time(except if she is hiding her feeling or trying to protect someone). She has insecurity issues that affect her life choices. In the past she has hidden behind her sexy persona and not let feelings get involved. Until Seth ruined her. She is also still trying to find out who she is and what she wants to do with her future.
Hurricane Mallory is in the building and she has wrecked my life in the best possible way ever. She made her way in under the radar, as if she was an undetectable force of nature and then she restore my life back into order.
Seth is a bad boy with a good heart, but broken by his past and scared shitless to love and trust someone again. When he cannot handle emotions, he tends to push them away or run. And just when he seems to get it together, it seems like his past or life slaps him back into reality. But sometimes you cannot hide from what is truly meant to be and from the person who makes you want to quit running.
"There's no going back in time and fixing all the mistakes I made."
These two drove me crazy! Talk about communication issues, secrets, and misguided attempts at protection. Sometimes I am not sure if they even knew if they were protecting themselves or the other one. I wanted to shove them in a room together so many different times and force them to talk. I loved seeing more of Derek and Jesika as they are a great couple and supportive friends. Although I wanted to smack them upside the head a few times as well for not intervening more when Seth and Mallory were incommunicado.
And if there were not enough issues with Seth's ex and him being on the road with hordes of groupies, sexy hottie Nick that Mallory dated a bit in the first book is back and circling around her. He is sweet, protective, loving, and the perfect loyal guy. And he wants Mallory. Nick was a big sweetheart and I would have been a bigger fan of his if I did not already adore Seth.
It is back and forth and up and down...seriously these two are quite a mixed up pair. So you have a rock star, hordes of fans, crazy ex, one confused and heart broken woman, a devoted man and a whole mess of mixed up feelings. There were twists and turns that I did not expect. This story did not happen in a matter of weeks...it happened over time and distance which made it more believable. Their journey was frustrating, maddening, heartfelt, sad, swoon worthy, happy, passionate, and beautiful, but you never knew when something might change and ruin it all over again. So it kept you anxious and flipping pages like crazy.
Sometimes it takes losing it all to find out what is really important. Sometimes I think life wants to see your fight for what you love. Finding love when you aren't look for it is easy. but holding when everything around you is trying to pull it away is hard.
Will Seth and Mallory find a way to communicate and finally get on the same page at the same time? Or will Mallory choose the safe alternative? Either way, once decided...there is no going back.
And the ending...hhhmmm...It is good and it is also intriguing. A totally interesting lead into Jake's novella In The End. The mysteries of Jesika's ex-husband keep coming up so it will be interesting to finally get his prequel novella to explain what all came before.
Erika Ashby's style is fast moving and no-nonsense. The characters are complicated, ballsy, and a bit quirky. The things that come out of their mouths can make you laugh or blush alternately. But underneath the humor are emotions and sweet feelings of love, happiness, and a sense of family.
Thanks to Erika Ashby for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Will be posted at Reviews by Tammy and Kim.
No Going Back is the second book in Erika's Timing is Everything series ~ we had a glimpse of Seth & Mallory in Erika's first book Moving Forward! What I wasn't expecting from No Going Back is the ANGST ~ Jay-sus the freaking angst had me spending more time...
than I truly expected. Erika has the knack to make a reader ...
and that I did ~ A LOT! But whew I wasn't expecting to walk right into a freaking mess that would have me ....
at times and downright ...
at other times. We all know Seth that sexy as sin lead singer and Derek's brother was going to be one word H.O.T. and we already knew that his take on relationships was ~ well there are NO relationships ~ he says he doesn't do "LOVE" and there were so many times I wanted...
some ever loving sense in that boy. Mallory & Seth truly had it going on when they were..
yes there were no freaking problems in that department! They had chemistry the whole black your arse off when the final moment arrives and I have to admit I was a wee bit..
of our girl! Mallory admits her feelings to Seth in an attempt to save him from the ultimate "biatch" yes Allison made me want to ..
and then turn around and
her classy trailer park ass. I was astounded at some the events that occurred during No Going Back truly I was..
there were times while I was reading this book that I FELT like I totally was going to ..
I thought there is no way I can survive this and I totally...
for both Seth & Mallory to overcome every obstacle in their way and own up to their feelings. I was ...
and I know I did so much ..
that I could clear a room out in a millisecond. We were blessed with the story being told in both POV's ~ Thank God so I knew what was going on in both their heads. We knew that Mallory was a strong woman that I truly felt deserved a freaking break but I could say the same about Seth. They both weren't dealt a fair hand in life when it came to their childhood.
I guarantee that once Erika gets down throwing your arse on an emotional rollercoaster (She totally kicked my ass of the rollercoaster) you will be left ...
and
Of course that's totally after you want to ...
Seth a few times. I admit he had me down right ..
and at times I was so ...
that I had to take twice as many smoke breaks reading this book than I normally do just to calm myself down.
No Going Back is not a 5 star read for me ~ Hell NO it was a 10 FREAKING OUT, SCREAMING, PUNCHING, CURSING, OH THE HEARTBREAK read that delivered EVERY DAMN THING I want out of a book. It is my FAVORITE book out of the series thus far ~ Heck, this made my all-time favorite book list!
Now I want you to get that little one click finger one clicking and buy NO Going Back NOW and then you put aside EVERYTHING and read it now and grab a huge stash of Kleenex, Toilet Paper or use your sleeve cause you are going to need it and when your done come to me so I can say "I told you so"
Kudos Erika you DELIVERED and DAYUUUUMMMMM did you ever give me one of the best reads of the year!!!
I was provided an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review of No Going Back ~ I also purchased the book ~ cover is to die for and I just HAD to have this one as my own!!!!
This book shakes you up right from the very start. Mallory and Seth are two people who everyone know should be together but are not...things or people keep getting in there way. Mallory goes to Seth's wedding to try to convince him not to marry Allison. She pours her heart out to him.
“Hey Seth,” she timidly says before letting out a shaky breath. “Okay, I’m just gonna lay it all on the line, and you can do what you want with it.” Fuck, she came to win me back. “First, me coming here was not my idea, but with that being said, I would have regretted it like a motherfucker if I didn’t try one last time because I think you’re worth the effort. I want you Seth. I want you more than I’ve ever wanted any other man — more than I ever will want any other man. You get me unlike anyone ever has. You know me…the real me. I know what we had was no strings attached, but dammit, I’m attached. I can’t help it Seth, but I fucking love you and knowing you’re about to marry that woman who emotionally fucked you up, kills me. It kills me Seth.”
Seth is unaware that Mallory is pregnant with his child and Mallory won't tell him. She wants Seth to pick her and not be with her because she is having his baby. He rejects her and breaks not just her heart but his own as well.
Seth has a lot of growing up to do. He is in love with Mallory but puts his music career first. His band is on tour and they are about to make it big time. His ex-girlfriend from 5 years ago reappears in the picture and she comes up with a way to wiggle her claws back into Seth's life. He hates Allison but the story that she is giving him he is STUPID to believe that there is any truth to it.
Enter a mind blowing "SETH I AM YOUR FATHER" story and I have played "PUPPET MASTER" for most of your life behind your back. All I kept thinking is this much is happening 20% into the book? How is the rest of this book going to continue if this much has been revealed and it is only the start of the book. So as the story goes Seth has been given a ton of information and he wants to run to Mallory and make things right with her. But he needs to get his head on straight first......
There was one point in the book (still early on) I was just reading along being a good little reader that I try to be and then the SHIT got really REAL. I mean WHY? I said I was not going to cry and now here I am CRYING. This is awful I can't believe that happened. How do you recover from that? I did not see that coming and I am still mourning from it. It broke my heart.
Seth........That man needed a major kick in the butt!! he comes back and has this one amazing night with Mallory and tells her that he loves her......WHILE SHE IS SLEEPING................................. My dear sweet Mallory I am going to kick Seth into next week for you OK? No thanks needed. All that BS about tying to be a better man and do right for her........out the window. I get it I know that he was hurting too, and there are going to be haters, I was doing a little of my own and at the same time he knew he could not be there for her the way she deserved.
Seth was all kinds of messed up. I loved him and hated him and then I loved him again. There feelings were set out there for everyone to see along with there honesty. I was pulled in so many directions and my emotions were EVERYWHERE. One minute I wanted them to work it out then I thought, Oh shit I don't think you can recover from it. All in all this is a great book, I loved everyone in it, Nick too.
I really enjoyed this book. The troubles that both Seth and Mallory went through to get back together only made them stronger. The ability to forgive one another and let the past be forgiven is a great thing. I can't wait to read the next book that Erika has in store for us, I know that it is going to be another roller-coaster ride.
I was soooo looking forward to No Going Back. Moving Forward was one of my favorites for a debut novel. Erika did not disappoint me in book two.
No Going Back is Seth and Mallory's story. Seth is Derek's rockstar brother from Moving Forward and Mallory is Jesika's best friend. These two....god how I love them but oh they so frustrate me at the same time. These two are their own worst enemies at times.
Moving Forward was left with a cliffhanger for them. Mallory is pregnant by Seth and is about to tell him about the baby at Derek and Jesika's wedding until he drops the bomb that he is getting back together with his ex and marrying her. WTF?!? Right...I thought the same thing. No Going Back picks up from there. Mallory is refusing to tell Seth about the baby because she is hurt. Seth is running around, about to make the biggest effin' mistake of his life because he believes some whorebags lies (do I sound hateful?? hehe). Seth's band has also just signed on for their first tour and they are on their way to top.
Mallory and Seth are broken when it comes to relationships but they are absolutely perfect for eachother. Seth has been burned big time by a woman in his past. He had his heart and world shattered by her and this made him understandable gunshy of all women after. Mallory just doesn't trust men. She has never had a healthy example for relationships. The relationship between them started out as purely sexual. Having a good time.....no strings attached but that changes as they get to know one another and let some of their defenses down. They understand each other's strengths and weakness. They make the other better in a way.
I love Mallory's character for so many reasons. I love her fire, her strength, her smart-ass mouth but, what I love most is the vulnerability she shows only to Seth and Jesika. All those things make you want to root for her. Oh my Seth, god how I love thee :) He is sexy, hot, swoony and all types of rocker badass. I love every lickable part of him...hehe. He can be a jerk at times....believe me but when it comes to him with Mallory or his family he just sexy and sweet. He doesn't believe in the "happily ever after" until he meets Mallory. Their journey to happiness is paved with tough times and really sad moments but thankfully they do find it in the end.
The thing I love most about Erika's writing and is her honesty, dialogue and her humor. Will everyone agree with me? Maybe not but its what I like. I love when characters talk to each other in a story. I love their interaction and personal relationships. I understand the reasoning and purpose behind the internal dialogue but sometimes it can just be too much. Erika has a wonderful way of finding that "happy middle ground". I love the honesty she puts into her characters. Mallory said all the things I was thinking and some of them weren't always all that nice. She shows you that not all things are black and white or happy but you can find "your" happiness through the storm clouds. She makes me laugh. I love a book that can not only make me cry tears of sadness but tears of happiness too. I get her characters....I connect with them. I hurt when they hurt and I laugh when they laugh. All in all....pick up the series. It really is a fun and sexy read that does not disappoint :)
You will be left with another semi "cliffhanger" in this book also because its the intro to Jake's novella which I am beyond excited for. She is also doing Holden's book.
Where to start? Erika has outdone herself with this story. I thought I loved Moving Forward, but I fell even harder for Seth and Mal. The story picks up pretty much where Moving Forward left off. Poor Mal and all the crap she had to go through.I love Seth, but damn. He put her through hell and back. I wish he would of asked more questions about Allison, maybe things would of ended differently. But, sadly, things do happen for a reason and I am so very happy everything turned out how it did. We got to know some characters a little better this time around. I really liked Doug and was happy he broke that crap up when he did, if only it was a bit sooner. He started to grow on me through the book. When Mallory was talking to her mother it really hurt my heart, that anyone could ever treat their children that way. Or how Allison and Victoria just had abortions for some money, that hurts my heart that women are actually like this. Some people, like them should not be able to procreate. Loved having some Jes and Derek time in there. Love those two. Love Seth and Derek's brotherly relationship. Those two are hilarious, I found myself cracking up on many occasions. Also, I cried on many occasions. This book has it's moments where you feel like your heart can't take anymore, but then everything turns out the way it should. These couples go through so much. I'm so happy in the end for Mal and Seth, they deserve to be happy. I see nothing but the best future ahead of them. I'm so happy and proud they overcame their obstacles and came out on top. Now for that cliffhanger...Damn Erika, lol. You get to read a sneak peek for Jeff's book, but still. Cliffhanger. Haha. Poor Jes, I am excited to read Jake's story, but also nervous. I'm very mad at what he put Jes through. But happy in a way? Because then she would of never met Derek. And Derek is hot as F%$#! So ya. :-) It was a fantastic read ladies, loved it and even more than Moving Forward.
Some quotes I loved:
"Mommy loves you so much. I'll always miss you, baby girl."
"Whoa buddy. I need you to pitch our tent, not pitch your own tent."
"Now baby, don't go all overboard. There's a significant difference in size between an anaconda and what I like to call your python."
"Enough about reptile talk guys. My tadpole is getting jealous." (HILARIOIS, I love this man!)
"How can I ever give any man my heart when you still have it?"
"Mallory, I f%$#ing love you, and I will never- NEVER hurt you again. I promise."
"I trust you with my life Seth."
"I love foxy with everything I never knew I had within me. You make me a better man and I promise to be the best f^%$king husband ever. Mallory..."
"You're the peanut butter to my jelly. You're the shoelaces to my shoes. You are my everything. You were made for me. We were made for each other. I want you from now until forever."
"Your heart is safe with me Seth. I will treat it as if it's my own, because now it is. You own my heart. You own my soul. All that I am belongs to you and I know that with you it is safe."
"I love you so much, Seth. Thanks for always being you and loving me no matter what."
"Well I'm glad you were tame-able, son."(This entire conversation was hilarious)

Another great installment in the Timing is Everything series! I am usually skeptical about series' that have new couples in each book, because I always miss the old couples. But in the Timing is Everything series, we still get to read about the old couples along with the new, and they are lovely. We meet Seth and Mallory in Moving Forward. They are both connected through Jesika and Derek. They start hooking up in the first book as sex buddies, but as the story ends, some information comes out and rocks everyone's world. I cried, laughed, and was swept off my feet by Seth Jordan. My heart ached for him and Mallory!
I loved the characters in No Going Back. Seth and Mallory are the perfect match for each other. You are rooting for them from the first page! Seth Jordan... just saying his name makes me swoon! He is the lead singer of The Rifters and a womanizer, but he is not perfect. Seth is rough around the edges. He will hurt you, and he might make some dumb decisions, but his love for Mallory is unquestionable. Mallory is a wonderful heroine. I admire her sassy mouth and confidence. Even if she came from an unstable childhood and goes through a very difficult situation, she manages to live through it and learn from it. These qualities in a strong female lead create a great story.
Let's get real here. This isn't some Disney movie. Mallory and Seth's relationship is messy, passionate, and a little complicated. I believe in taking chances; I believe that everything happens for a reason. Just like with Seth and Mallory's relationship, everything happened for a reason and there is no going back from it all.
As much as I enjoyed Seth Jordan, I sort of also fell in love with the secondary love interest, Nick. (He has his own book coming out next...yay!) Overall, this story was fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good romance with steamy sex scenes.
Before I forget, I love Erika! We talk through Facebook, and I think she is the sweetest ever. I can't wait to meet her in person!
Favorite Clippings: "All the good things in life are worth the fight. I'd hate to see you miss the boat."
"It feels as if I'm home. She is my home. As long as she is with me, all is right in the world."
"You're the ying to my yang. You're the peanut butter to my jelly.
"I was going t strum her like a guitar playing an 80's love song, but her body had other plans. I knew her body was close to combusting like a blown amplifier."
"To me, you are my anchor. You keep me grounded. You keep me safe. I know as long as you're around, I will never get lost in the storm. My soul will forever be anchored to yours and I want the freaking world to know it."
I developed a major author crush on Erika Ashby after reading her debut novel Moving Forward. She really set the bar high for the Timing is Everything Series and I was nervous to find out if her sophomore novel, No Going Back, could rival the greatness of MoFo.
DISCLAIMER: Before you read No Going Back you MUST READ Moving Forward.
No Going Back picks up from the cliffhanger ending of Moving Forward (also known at MoFo) and continues on through the eyes of Mallory Prentice and Seth Jordan.
Oh Seth Jordan. He embodies all things rock. Covered in tattoos and adorned with piercings---one of which is south of his border---Seth goes through women faster than his tour bus burns through gasoline. He’s definitely not the kind of guy you take home to meet mom and dad.
Where most women would be turned off by his man-whore tendencies, Mallory can’t get enough. Seth is her male counterpart. Their undefined arrangement only gets more complicated when Mallory finds herself pregnant and face-to-face with Seth’s fiancée, Allison, at the end of MoFo.
Erika Ashby has outdone herself in No Going Back! As much as I love Derek and Jesika in MoFo, I quickly became addicted to the turbulence served up between Seth and Mallory. This is a hard review to write because all of the moments I want to gush about will just spoil the plot for anyone who hasn’t read the story.
I will say this---this book is a roller coaster. There were tender moments where I was swooning, shocking twists that had me gasping out loud, and a truckload of WTF angst that made me want to light both Seth and Mallory on fire.
The recipe for No Going Back is simple:
1) Measure a hefty serving of “I want to pull my hair out” 2) Combine with a heap of “jump up and down like a game show contestant” 3) Bring to a boil with a whole lot of S-E-X
Can I pause for a second? Let’s everyone take a moment to give Erika Ashby a round of applause for creating some wicked hot sex scenes!
I read the majority of this book while out in a public setting. Reading No Going Back in public turned me in to THAT GIRL. THAT GIRL who is so mesmerized by the naughty paragraphs, her mouth is hanging wide open and she’s got tunnel vision on the screen. My husband called me out several times because he swore I was about to drool all over myself. Once I realized what I was doing, I had to make a conscious effort to keep my facial expressions neutral and my mouth closed.
No Going Back is raw and spares no feelings. You are going to love the characters and despise their choices at the same time. That’s what makes this novel realistic and gritty. Life isn’t a perfect mapped out journey. There are countless potholes and roadblocks.
“There’s no going back in time and fixing all the mistakes I made.”
I cannot wait for the next installment of the Timing is Everything Series. My author crush has been officially upgraded to full on FANGIRL status! If you haven’t one-clicked Moving Forward and No Going Back head on over to Amazon or Barnes & Noble and pick up your copy today.
So for those that know me know that I was a huge fan of Seth from the first time we met him in Moving Forward. If you haven't read Moving Forward Book 1 in this series you will need to read it, it is the foundation for Seth and Mallory. So I fell in love with Seth before this book even came out and yes even with the Epilogue at the end I was still in love with this Rocker! I have a thing for the bad boys especially when they are singers in a band!!!!!
I knew that this book was going to put me through the ringer and boy did it ever... At times I found myself wanting to hug Seth and then I was met with the times where I wanted to take a baseball bat to his knee caps... Yeah it was definitely a love/hate relationship at times. But Seth is misguided and deceived throughout this book, but not just his disgusting Ex but by his own family at times... The truth ALWAYS comes out and Seth finds this out the hard was several times throughout the book. He gets hit from every angle with secrets and lies that he has been told his whole life. Even from the people that he trusted most. It was heartbreaking to watch at times... These were the times I wanted to snuggle him!
Mallory she's a HOT mess in this one... When she is rejected by the one man she is ready to open up her heart too, she gets crushed... So the very beginning of the book opens up your heart and forces it to bleed for this woman... She knows the pain all to well from her years of family rejection... But when the unthinkable happens to Mallory the one man that she rejected Nick is their to help her put the pieces back together. Nick is sweet I'll give him that but, that's all it was... He was sweet... Mallory herself makes some really poor decision when it comes to Nick... I wasn't too happy with her during this part of the book, but you can relate she just wants to be loved unconditionally and Nick does that for her, but is that enough????
In the end after having some hair pulling moments I was pleased with the end of the book... I can't give away ANYTHING here it would ruin the end of the book... I had some minor issue in the storyline but they didn't distract from how much I enjoyed the characters and the book itself. I think that Erika does a great job with Seth and Mallory, their story is twisted and tangled and she did a great job unraveling both characters from their worst fears...
I give No Going Back 4.5 stars... Thank you Erika for giving me Seth Jordan... He will forever be in my heart as one of my favorite Rocker Book Boyfriends!
Holy Moly! No Going Back was one hell of a ride. This story is full of heartache, angst, and a whole lot of hotness. Seriously, I wasn’t sure if Erika could make me love Seth quite as much as I loved Derrick from Moving Forward but boy oh boy was I wrong! I fell head of heels for bad boy womanizer Seth. Now trust me when I say I didn’t love him the whole book – no I didn’t. There were time I wanted to punch him in the face but he redeemed himself and I was swooning and salivating over this man like he was a t-bone steak waiting for me to devour.
If you haven’t read Moving Forward…..STOP…..and go read it! It’s the first book in the series and No Going Back picks up right where Moving Forward left off. Mallory is pregnant by Seth and when she decides to tell him – she finds out Seth has chosen the no good bitch Allison. Yes, I wanted to tackle that chic. She was a no good little winch.
Oh Mallory. I loved her! I knew I connected with her character in Moving Forward – she was the bestest BFF ever! BUT, in No Going Back she was amazing! Her personality shined throughout the novel. I felt her pain, turmoil, and love. I was rooting for her and Seth =)
Seth that man just screams sex on a stick! I wanted to lick him like a lollipop! Yes, he is all kinds of sexiness! Beware…..You may experience hot flashes while reading this novel and dampness to your panties tehehehehe! There were times I wanted to kick him in the balls and shove my tongue down his throat. I highly encourage you to get a piece of that sexy rocker!
Oh and then there was a chapter….Chapter 9 – be cautious….get the tissues ready because you will be straight out UGLY CRYING! Yes, Erika did that to me. I was sobbing uncontrollably, snot rolling down my nose, lip quivering, and mumbling FUCK ME! I could not believe it! I thought I was dying. I did recover it just took a little while – I had to sit my Kindle down and go have a beer and think about what just happened! So be prepared.
Oh Erika you rocked my effin’ socks off woman! I swear when we meet in person not only will we be doing Blow-Job shots together, boob pics, and more but I am certain I am going to kiss you for bringing these boys into my life. I said it before in my review for Moving Forward and I will say it again…..I may indeed have a girl crush on Erika Ashby! This novel was pure fucking awesomeness and I loved every minute on this crazy train ride! Happy Reading! xoxo
No Going Back is Seth and Mallory's story, and what a story it is! I really liked these two when I met them in Moving Forward and was happy knowing they'd get the chance to tell their stories too. Ok...so by now you should have read book one and you know at the end we find out Mallory's pregnant with Seth's baby. She planned on telling him at Jesika and & Derek's wedding, until she saw Seth with that skank ex Alison...
Women like Alison are the reason pharmaceuticals like penicillin were invented.
Erika broke my heart at times with this one in regards to Mallory and all the things she went through. She put herself out there and laid her feeling out on the line for Seth only to have him reject her and push her away thinking he was doing what was best for her. What Mallory faced next tore me up, I just wanted to climb in my kindle and hug her!!! I wasn't expecting what happened to happen at all. I felt for Seth too, he learned some secrets about his past, found out just how much of a lying, manipulative skankarella Alison truly was all while trying to adjust to his band, The Rifters, making it big. And missing Mallory and dealing with his conflicting feelings for her; he realizes he loves her but feels he's the reason for every heartache she's encountered since they've met and she's better off without him *sigh* I love my tortured rock stars!
Eventually Seth does come to his senses and comes back to lay his feeling out there for her...that was my favorite part :-)
Mallory and Seth had lived such difficult lives growing up and neither one felt deserving of a happy ending, but I loved seeing how their ending turned out. Once my heartbreak was over early on I really enjoyed the low level angst of No Going Back; sometimes my heart needs a break from the angst and NGB was the perfect read. It made me laugh, it made me cry...it made me consider moonlighting as an adult toy party consultant lol
Rating – 4.5 Stars!! Cover – 4 Stars!! WOW Factor - 4.5 stars Steam Factor – 4.5 stars Ending – HEA but damn did it kill you getting to it..lol!!
OMG where do I start with this book..lol No Going Back took you on a mess of a roller-coaster ride that had you spiraling out of control and feeling like you where going to fall off at any minute..lol It was full of twists, turns, miss communications, secrets and meddling ex's. Just when you think everything is going to be alright then BAM something else happens and DAMN did I love every minute of it!! This review is not going to be very long because I don't want to give anything away but it is sooooooo worth running to get NOW!!
"There's no going back in time and fixing all the mistakes I made."
Mallory, damn I loved her. She is mouthy, sexy, fierce & not afraid to say what she thinks but deep down she is a little insecure & lonely because of everything that has happened.
Seth damn you Seth why did you make me love you..lol Seth is a sexy, swoon worthy, broken, bad boy rocker that can't seem to escape from his past. I wanted to smack him and love him and lick him all at the same time..lol
"That's what I'm best at doing - running from anything that could possibly end up hurting me."
This book was full of OMG moments that kept me glued to the pages and on the edge of my seat. I couldn't get enough. I seriously neglected my family while I finished it and didn't move from my chair..lol Erika really outdid herself with this one. The writing is superb and engaging and makes you feel like you are there with the characters and can feel everything they can. I can't freakin wait to see what Erika has for us next.
After reading Moving Forward by Erika Ashby I knew I had to read the second book in the series No Going Back. In no time at all I fell in love with Seth and Mallory's story. I knew there was way more to their story and I absolutely loved reading it.
First off if you haven't read Moving Forward this review may contain spoilers from that book. Just a fair warning while reading on. We meet Mallory and Seth in moving forward as Jesika's best friend and Derek's brother and band mate. Seth is living his dream and hae started touring. He had a just sex relationship with Mallory until she asked for more from him. He decided to be stupid and take off and tour with his band. When they they have to come together at Derek and Jesika's wedding they both run into each other. Mallory has something important to tell him. When she sees him she is shocked to find out that Seth is engaged to marry the women who steered him clear of all commitments. We find that yet again timing is everything. Seth and Mallory must work together if they truly want to be in charge of their future.
So many thing threw me for a loop in this book. I was shocked and a little bit torn up. Mallory was strong and independent. A good person through and through. She has been such a good friend to Jesika. It was no different with Seth, she wanted the best for him. She would never deter him from his dreams. That beeing said she had to keep some things locked away. She always wanted to make sure she was making the absolute right decisions. There was so much at stake, more than they both realized. Seth was never willing to settle down until Mallory. Even though it took him a little longer to realize I still felt he was always honest and forthcoming. He was the furthest thing from a saint. The way he treated Mallory was so very sweet and tender. It made up for all those shortcomings.
This series is definite must read. I am looking forward to the next novel. Some hearts were broken during this book. It was all for the best and I see some wonderful things coming from this author. It was an absolute pleasure to read.
No kidding this story is not about a fairytale love story.....Lots of angst and pure madness. This book begins where "Moving Forward" ended. So I would suggest you read that book first to understand Mallory and Seth's story. And what a crazy messed up story they have.
"That's what I'm best at doing - running from anything that could possibly end up hurting me."
Mallory and Seth are two broken people who have so many issues and walls to break through that brings so much angst to their crazy relationship. At the end of "Moving Forward", Mallory finds out she is pregnant with Seth's baby and is going to tell him at her best friend Jesika and Derek's wedding. Seth and Mallory were hoping they could work on bringing their lives back together. But BAM! SH_T HAPPENS! Seth's ex-love of his life - well at one time he thought so - she reappears. Allison, is the one who broke him leaving him the scorned man he has become. After Seth's band becomes more famous, Allison wants to take part in his fame. Even if that means telling lies and doing really bad things. Not only does she reappear causing havoc but also causing total destruction. This destruction is the break up of Mallory and Seth and many other BAD THINGS!
So after Seth had chosen Allison for reasons that he is not sure are the truth or just more Allison lies but feels he has an obligation to at least try to believe her. So at Jesika and Derek's wedding Allison drops the ugly bomb leaving Mallory no other choice than to not tell Seth she is pregnant with his child. Mallory has had to rely only on herself and now more so than ever. Seth and Mallory have broken pasts and now with their new challenges they have to learn to forgive and move forward.
"It breaks my heart and melts it at the same time. He's had it rough and so have I. I know that together, we make each other stronger, and that I can face anything with him by my side."
There are so many twist and turns and so much angst leaving you mentally exhausted. Just the kind of book I love.
Have you read Moving Forward yet? No, well click here, you need to. You need to read that story to fully grasp and understand this one. And let me tell you what.. Let me tell you what.. my emotions were all over the freaking place on this!! I went from swooning, to flat out slap-a-hoe, to I wanna murder this chick, to sad, to crying, to blah, to angry, to overly excited that justice is served. GAME OVER. Finally, since I went through the whole gamut of emotions, I returned back to happy.. and maybe a little hot for rocker.. I know, all over, right?? I swear that emotions kind of followed Mallory’s. I mean I was even on the get your shit together Seth train. Believe me, I rode that train for a while. I mean like literally I was getting irritated. Sure screw every slooker (slut+hooker) you can find, but not the one woman you want!?! But I will tell you he redeems himself in ink and piercings!! CHA-CHING! WELL DONE SETH!! But don’t get me wrong, I rode that train for Mal too! I was like, seriously… we’re gonna go this route? Really MAL! Really!?!! Literally, I yelled at my kindle. Sigh.. I know… sigh…Anyway.. this story isn’t just Seth and Mallory’s. You also learn a little more about Jes and Derek. And of the course, right at the end when the truth might come out…BAM! DOOR CLOSED!! THE END! GAH!! Sucked in, and BOOM spit out! Don’t worry, there will be a book 3.. yessss!! Happy Dance! I don’t know if you can tell, but I really liked the book. I give it 3.5 starss and think if you’ve read Moving Forward, you definitely want to read this. One click it and pick it up.
Wow! Mallory and Seth’s story is a crazy up and down ride that you do not want to get off! I absolutely loved this book! I could not put it down. We meat Mallory and Seth in Jesika and Derek’s book (Moving Forward), and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen with these two.
Seth and Mallory’s story is all kinds of crazy but you will love it! There is always something standing in the way of these two being together, or one of them holding back their true feelings. There are a few times I wanted to smack Seth!
Mallory tries to stop Seth’s wedding to Allison, and has her heart broken all over again, and Seth does something he didn’t want to do and pushes Mallory away, but after she leaves…. well everything hits the fan, and things get even worse for these two.
I understand why Seth did some of the things he did, but it doesn’t mean I liked it. Him and Mallory are hilarious together, and as soon as he heard she was living with Nick, he should have had his ass back home and making her his! But of course those things don’t happen, and just when you’ve lost all hope of these two being together, you get that HEA you’ve been looking for.
Not only did I love the Love part of this story, but also how much Mallory and Seth’s characters grew, she wants to finish school, he’s becoming a major star, but in the end they make their lives and their love work.
This is one of those books you just have to read, I thoroughly enjoyed No Going Back and wish we could get more of Seth and Mallory!
I really enjoyed this one. I read Moving Forward and could not wait for the next book in this series. I totally can relate to this authors writing style due to the fact that she writes the way I talk which had me cracking up through out most of the book.
This starts back up where MoFo left us with Mallory and Seth's story. Mallory is pregnant and hasn't told Seth for fear of him only coming back to her because she is carrying his child. Seth is about to make a huge mistake but luckily someone steps up and stops him. Crisis averted thank god, because I was about to choke a bitch.
Poor Mal is put through the ringer with Seth and his crazy bitch of an ex but I think she held her own quite well. She is one tough little chick. Seth is hot with his dirty talk and all his tats and piercings. I liked that we got to see his sweeter side. Oh, and the sex scenes were amazing. The chemistry between them was even hotter this time around.
What I liked most about this book was the fact that you didn't have to wait until the end for all the good stuff to happen. I haven't read many books like that and it was a refreshing change of pace. If you read Moving Forward then you have to read No Going Back!! ~Christy
While I wasn't too thrilled with the first book in this series, I thought Seth and Mallory's story was going to be a bit steamier, and I was right!
Seth Jordan is the stereotype lead singer for a rock band, total manwhore player. He isn't looking for anything serious, just someone to fill the void left in his heart from his past. Seth met Mallory in the first book of this series, Moving Forward. They agreed to just be F buddies as neither one was ready for a commitment. Now that Seth is tangled up with his past once again, he has to let Mallory go.
Mallory was always single and ready to mingle, not really wanting to give her heart away, until she met Seth. He is just as unavailable as her, but for some reason she starts to develop strong feelings for Seth. Mallory and Seth need to figure out what is best for them and how to leave the past where it belongs, in the past.
One thing this couple has going for them is the sexy! Actually there is all kinds of sexy in this book as compared to the first one. With as wild as Mallory and Seth were individually, I could only imagine how they would be as a couple and I wasn't disappointed. This book felt a bit more put together and the story flowed nicely. There are a few twists and secrets that also helped keep it exciting.
Great second book to this series and I will be waiting for the third.
I really enjoyed No Going Back (Timing is Everything #2) by Erika Ashby. No Going Back is the follow up to Moving Forward and this is Mallory and Seths story. I actually read Moving Forward and No Going Back one right after the other and it made for great summer reading. Seth and Mallory don’t do relationships but there is something between them that makes them want to try. This book had so many twists and turns my head was spinning. Things are not made easy for Mallory and Seth and at some points I had no idea what was going to happen with them. There is one particular incident, which I will not say what because I don’t want to spoil it, that left me utterly speechless. I NEVER saw it coming and frankly it quite shocked me. Score 1 for Erika Ashby because I am not shocked easily. I laughed, and I cried. I rooted them on and I threw down my Kindle at points. I had a serious WTH moment but all in all I loved the book. Perfect summer read, hot sex, rock star, and a crazy emotional ride. If you have not read Moving Forward I suggest you read it before No Going Back. Its will spoil some things if you don’t and it really helped build the characters.
This was a great story, starting where Moving Forward left off! at Jesika and Derek's wedding, so we knew that Mallory was pregnant and Seth didn't know, its here that we meet Allison for the first time, she was the baby momma that broke Seth's heart, she convinces Seth that there is a possibility of getting their daughter back! Funny that his band has started to hit the big time!
We go back and forth between Seth and Mallory, who are both in love with each other but are scared to admit it! So right for each other but oh so wrong!
This was an emotional roller coaster of a ride, a lot heavier than Moving Forward, everyone could see how they both felt about each other except them. Hell even Seth's ex could see! she was one nasty piece of work, finally got her comeuppance! If she couldn't have Seth then no one could! her words!
Even with the handsome Nick to occupy Mallory nothing seems to work, and give Nick his due he was a really nice guy! clearly thought a lot of Mal! Only for Mal to discover he was not the one for her!
When they finally got it together Mal and Seth had amazing chemistry! really pleased that they were able to work through the crap that their life had become! They really deserved the HEA they got!
The ending of "Moving Forward" was not a cliff hanger for the story of Derrick & Jesika but it was a Super Big Teaser for "No Going Back" and I couldn't wait to dive in! Whew Seth & Mallory really get put through the ringer in this book so much sadness and really holding back thinking they were doing the right thing. Half way through the book I was not seeing any hope for them working things out just too much time, space and other people were between them. Lots of hot sex! We get to still get updated on Derrick & Jesika. The ending is gosh not a cliff hanger with Seth & Mallory's story but there is something left unfinished. The author sets us up for the next book at the end but it's much tamer than the last set up.
Quotes:
"Taste the fucking rainbow...it's like a vending machine of tits and ass."
"I need a drink stat, to get the taste of your testes sauce outta my mouth."
"looking down at where his hard cock is visibly begging to be released from it boxer prison."
No Going Back is Seth and Mallory's story.. What a story about life's ups and downs and what some will do to ensure that no one else could possibly have what they can not have. Seth and Mallory fight with the demons inside themselves and deny the happiness and love they both deserve. Mallory settles for love from a wonderful man but in the end he is not Seth. The touring allows Seth to live the rock star life but after each show the chick he ends up with is not Mallory. No Going Back is a MUST READ in my opinion.
Erika's second book is just as good as her first. I like books that the same people through a series focusing on a different couple in each book. No going back is Seth and Mallory's story. He is the lead singer of a band and a been a bit of a manwhore . Their story started in moving forward and continues in this book with a lot of angst and love. Can Mallory learn to trust Seth and share all her secrets? This book had me laughing out loud ! If you haven't yet put Moving Forward and No Going Back on the top of your to read list.
