Roses are so cliché…I couldn’t agree more Xander Wilde!! Mended by Kim Karr is by far my favorite of The Connections Series. As a big fan of second chance romance, I loved that Mended revolved on mending the past and welcoming the future. Mended had a perfect balance of love, angst, drama, suspense, and sexiness. Second chances and forgiveness was the biggest element of the storyline as it chronicles Xander Wilde and his first and only love, Ivy Taylor. Mended was a perfect reminder second chances are given so we can get it right this time around and true love exists.

Mended_1

Xander and Ivy’s story was a testament that true love always finds a way to come back. For twelve years, Ivy was led to believe that Xander cheated on her but that was not the case. A young Xander was dealing with his father’s death and he didn’t want to stop Ivy from going to college and fulfilling her dreams. His love for Ivy was so real and heartfelt that he set his love free so she can find her happiness. For 12 years, the only person who remained in his heart was Ivy. As if they were destined to meet, fate intervened and Ivy and Xander were reunited but the only problem is that old wounds and unresolved misunderstanding still remained.

Mended

Xander and Ivy’s romance was a slow burn...the sexual tension and chemistry was felt throughout the book. Talk about sexual tension, for 40% into the book I was screaming at my kindle, begging Xander to say something. I just wanted him so badly to tell Ivy the truth on why he ended things the way he did. And when he finally told the truth, I was like Hallelujah!!! The sexual chemistry and love Xander and Ivy was a blazing inferno. It seemed that 12 years didn’t extinguish any love but only proved that their love was REAL. When things seem to be finally mended between them, Ms. Karr had to turn up the heat and add so much twist and turns in their relationship. Family secrets and ex lovers seem to come at full force testing the bonds of Xander and Ivy. Will Xander have to set his love for Ivy free once again?

Mended was an absolute joy to read. I love the slow burn, flashbacks, and the second chance theme that was prominent throughout the book. Second Chances not only in love but at life. The transformation and growth of Xander’s character was an amazing thing to witness from his first love, the death of his father and getting that second chance at love. All I got to say is move over River, Xander Wilde is now my favorite Wilde brother. I adore Xander’s strength to forgive his father and himself. I absolutely adore the connections of Ivy and Xander and I must applaud Kim Karr for another great installment to the series.

4.5 I heart Xander stars

As much as I love musicians, there’s something about a band manager that gets me all WORKED UP!

Review

There’s just something about Xander that I love. I think he’s my favorite in the Connection series. He’s just so sexy, attractive and lickable! Xander and Ivy have a past, but it didn’t work out. Years later, she’s a Pop star and is engaged to one of the most ruthless people in town, Damon Wolf.

Xander doesn’t understand why Ivy and him aren’t together, but there’s something that is drawing him back to her and he wants her badly.

Mended is a bit different from the previous two books. There’s more sexual tension and more character and relationship build-up than steam. I really liked this

As much as I love my kinky steam, I loved the tension between Xander and Ivy. I’m a fan of characters having past issues because there’s that layer of build-up that has already been established. Also, I love it when the Heroine is with a villain, just makes me want to root for Xander even more!

Xander and Ivy struggle for a bit, trying to figure out how to work together and not let past pains get in the way of their professional relationship. There are some glimpses from the other band members, so don’t worry, they do not go away fully.

You want to root for Xander and Ivy to be together and for Damon to get into an accident. It’s a roller coaster of a read, but one I enjoyed a lot. Ivy doesn’t want anything to do with Xander because of the way he treated her years ago. She hasn’t forgiven him and she’s doing everything she can to stay away. Xander wants Ivy to be happy, but he can’t see her happy with Damon or with any guy. He wants her badly, but doesn’t know how mend for his past mistakes.

Mended is about second chances, true love and following your heart.

3.5 Stars!

After the stories of a hot band leader (River) and a hot actor (Jagger)…now it is the time to get behind the hard exterior of the band’s manager. This is Xander and Ivy’s story. It’s a cute and interesting but I didn’t like it as much as liked the previous ones. However…let me tell you this: these guys are seriously likable ;)

“If you love someone, set them free. If they come back, they’re yours.”

The story:

We know Xander Wilde from the previous books- he is the manager of the band and River’s brother. He has been following Ivy Taylor’s career but definitely didn’t intent to actually meet her again. He had broken her heart years ago when they were both young. She believes he cheated…He believes he made the right choice. But only Xander knows what happened and how he felt.

Years after their painful breakup, Xander and Ivy meet again. She wants to convince herself she hates him but she simply can’t. He will always be special to her. Ivy has followed her dream to become a singer but she is not performing exactly what she wants to. So when the opportunity to join Xander’s band presents itself…she wants in. The problem is that she will be close to Xander again. Sometimes just too close… Xander on the other hand is determined to get Ivy back. But after some time he is unsure if that is even possible.

“His love broke me, and music was my only refuge.”

My thoughts:

Well…I didn’t quite get into this one. Maybe I just couldn’t connect to the characters or the idea behind the story…but yeah…I didn’t love it as I did the previous books in the series. Don’t get me wrong, it is definitely an entertaining and sweet story but something was definitely missing. Or maybe no one from the next books will ever top River.

I like Kim Karr’s writing style and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

One of the things I loved about the first 2 books was the originality. This book lacked that, majorly. It follows the same NA checklist that I've read over and over

-High School sweethearts
-Big misunderstanding that leads to break up because he thinks she deserves better
-Meet years later and still "always loved each other"
-Get back together for like 2 days
=Big ex shows up and one of them leave for the other one's sake

Blah blah blah. You see where this is going???

I didn't like Lily at all. I found her to be a doormat. Coupled with the fact that her ex was a guy 30 years older than her, she came off as a gold digger to pay for her family's needs. Did she really love the guy? Either way it was gross.

I wish I could have said it was good to see River and Dahlia but it wasn't. Their story line in this one sucked and really went a way where it came off as just being thrown in there.

I deducted .5 stars in the first few chapters for the him using the "R" word as an insult to someone. I find it to be highly offensive and didn't reflect well on his character.

Over all it was decent but in no where near the same caliber as the first 2.

Xander Wilde has been a bit of a mystery in this series...always brooding, pushing others and giving orders. I knew there was more to him than just that typical big brother bravo!

Yep, Xander is a just a man who has loved and lost. He spends his time immersed in work and family all while keeping his past, miss Ivy Taylor, locked tight in his heart and mind.

They were young kids in love. They had promises made with forever in mind, but family drama shaped their young relationship and ultimately ripped them apart.

I am not sure whose heart broke more...

It is no surprise that Xander and Ivy come face to face with both immersed in the music industry. While that attraction and magnetic chemistry is still present, Ivy belongs to someone else...well, at least in appearance! With Ivy having the pipes needed to fill in with Xander's band there is only so much space on a tour bus to hide from one another. Past and present be damned...Xander and Ivy OWN each other...

But what if everything you think you know or think you see is false? Can two people who never stopped loving one another find a way to be finally be together or will they continue their "self-sacrificing" ways in hopes to give each other a better future?

This was a bit of a nail biter...I feel like there was always as sense that something bad was about to happen or someone was lying! There are a lot of twists and turns for Xander and Ivy to deal with as well as continued family drama. I can say that these two had a great long lost love kinda feel to them, but I still feel like River Wilde is the hotter brother, lol!!!!

5 - My Mended Heart Stars!!!

A second chance love story with none other than Xander and his perpetual bad attitude and dark, brooding demeanor?!? HELL YES!!!

That's it, Kim Karr has secured herself a spot as one of my very fave New Adult authors! Why didn't I pay more attention to Xander during the earlier books of the Connections series?!?!? Oh yeah, River was cock blocking him, and that just can't be helped but WOW!! His sexy older brother has stolen the show in this third installment of this delectable series!

"With his first grin in my direction-I melted. When he first played his guitar for me -he scored my mind. When he first kissed me-he stole my heart." -Ivy

I will be the first to admit, Xander was kind of a prick in the first two books and he was kind of non-existent in the ole personality department too! I could not figure him out. It just seemed like he was all business at the expense of pretty much everything else. It slowly became apparent why Xander was like this, and the fact that his heart has had a piece missing from it for a while.

"She still looks like that eighteen-year-old girl I once knew, but now she has the body of a woman- lean and toned and full of curves. The sight of her is so familiar it doesn't seem like a day has passed since I last saw her- and everything I ever felt for her, it's all still inside me." - Xander

Xander and Ivy were high school sweethearts, impossibly, head-over-heals in love with each other. When they were pulled apart abruptly, they continued existing but weren't really living. Although completely apart, they both proceeded with life in pretty much the same way; by pouring everything they had into their careers. One bitter and confused while the other was full of regret. Years later, when their lives collide unexpectedly, they slowly begin to mend the pieces back together.

This series just makes my heart happy! I devoured it in a day and a half. But talk about a slow burn!!! The sexual tension between Xander and Ivy was so impossibly high when they met again that I swear I was ready to jump into the book and give the guy a mercy bang myself! ;) I hated it but I loved it. I was screaming at Xander to tell Ivy the truth about things but then, at the same time, my heart was melting at getting to see this new found tender and protective side of him.

"Look, we could play the game - pretend we both didn't feel what we felt the minute we saw each other at the pool, but I'd rather not. I loved you when I was fourteen. I loved you when I was eighteen and had to let you go. I've loved you for the last twelve years. And I love you now. Ivy- I love you." - Xander

After that, an angst roller coaster follows as old family secrets, jealous exes, and life forces all compete to stand in Xander and Ivy's way to finally getting this right.

My Xander:
 photo Xander_zpsaa4341d3.jpg

The second chance theme here didn't just apply to the love story, but at life in general for Xander. The transformation and growth of his character was an amazing thing to witness from watching him really deal with the death of his father to getting that second chance at his first love. We also got to check in and spend some time with the other beloved characters in the series like Dahlia, River, Aerie, and Jagger.

This book had everything that I need in my 5 star reads- great writing, lovably flawed characters, an engaging story-line, oh and plenty of hot sex to go around! I absolutely adore this series and applaud Kim Karr for keeping it fresh and adding another great installment to it!

And in the end...

5 Mended-Fated-Destined Stars!!!
ARC provided by the author for an honest review
Review on behalf of Give Me Books

Can I just say that this book is by far my favorite in the Connections series?!
Well, it is.

“No baby, this is not a dream. This is real.”

I undeniably love Xander Wilde and Ivy Taylor. Almost everything I enjoy in my books, Mended has nailed. Childhood romance, second-chance love story, rockstars, steamy, fan-yourself scenes, there was also a touch of mystery, suspense and drama, and of course, a sweet, lovable male character and good chemistry. And let’s not forget about Miss Kim Karr’s storytelling.

Mended is the story of River’s brother, Xander, and Xander’s first love and ex, Ivy. Their love story started when they were in high school and heartbreakingly ended that fateful summer. More than a decade of being apart didn’t lessen the chemistry and the love they have for each other.

When The Wilde Ones needed a vocalist, Ivy, stepped in and volunteered her talent with the band. They were excited to have her on board except for River who has doubts and I’m guessing is just uneasy on having her so near him again.

I love how Kim Karr wrote their story with flashbacks, not just summarizing their story in a prologue or in a chapter or two, but really mixing their past with the present. For me, I felt more on their story that way. It was engaging, touching and a total passionate read that didn’t let me put it down until I read the last word and even then, Xander and Ivy left me wanting more.

“I think all relationships are different and each one has its own dynamics. There are no rules to follow. So yes, I think if we both want this bad enough there’s no reason we can’t have it.”

But Mended is not solely about those two, we also get to see River and Dahlia and the life that they’re having now. I think the title suit them too! A lot of things happened; challenges and trials that each couple faced head on and needed healing from. There was a particular part in this book that I couldn’t help but ask “Ohmygosh is this really necessary?! My heart is breaking for River and Dahlia!”. Though I see that happening as a way for things to fall into place, as much as I wish that sad tragedy didn’t happen, it made all of them closer, more open with each other.

This book is a wonderful addition to the Connection series, because yes, okay, I will never get tired of saying this is my favorite book in the series and one of my favorite love stories to read this year. Xander is just… irresistible. *dreamy sigh*

Stars: 5 stars!

I think this one might just be my absolute favorite one so far. So much emotion and the Connection between Xander and Ivy is Incredible...

MUSIC HAS THE POWER TO HEAL ALL…BUT NOT ALL BROKEN HEARTS CAN BE MENDED.

We First met Ivy and Xander ( who is River’s brother) in Connected and Torn. Now it is time for their story. Although I thought Xander was a total ass in the previous books, I knew Kim would redeem him in this one and by God she did for sure. I absolutely LOVED Mended. I can honestly say this is my favorite one thus far in the series.

Ivy and Xander first met and dated in High School, when a tragedy strikes and they were left heartbroken and confused. They both went their separate ways.

She's not just a girl I used to date...she's the only girl I ever really loved. She's also the girl whose heart I broke.

Now 12 years later a chance encounter has given Xander another chance to redeem himself with Ivy. Secrets come to the surface and Ivy must work through what she thought she knew and what she is learning now to be truth. One thing though she is engaged and her future hubby is not the nicest person in the world. When truths are finally revealed will Ivy and Xander be able to move forward and live happily ever after???

I love how Much LOVE shined through between Ivy and Xander. I saw that connection from 12 years ago the second they saw each other and felt it right down to my bones. Kim truly did an amazing job with these two characters.

Xander showed true emotion and I loved every single minute of this story.

We get a lot of twists and turns with this story. There were times my anxiety was out of control because I was dying to know what was going to happen next and I just could not read fast enough. Also when all of a sudden I got another curve ball thrown at me and I was like OMG!!!!!

Ivy had struggles to, after all Xander had broken her heart once before and she was very guarded now. Xander had to work hard to break down that barrier to her heart. These two working together try to let the past stay in the past, but it is not an easy thing to do. Sometimes you just have to work through the past to get to the future.

I loved every single minute of this book. Kim has written one hell of a story that will stay with you for a very long time. I cannot wait to get more of this series

"If you love someone, set them free. If they come back, they're yours."

Xander Wilde

The magic of rock and roll—it casts a spell on you. I’m no exception. I’m a band
manager and I’m living the dream, touring with The Wilde Ones, helping them secure
their well-deserved place in the music industry. I love being a part of it all, especially
watching the band perform live—the crowds, the cheers, the music. It’s a high and a low
all at once and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Every step of the way with this band has
been fun, exciting, stressful—every possible emotion. Obviously we’ve had some breaks
but mostly we all put in a lot of hard work—myself, Garrett Flynn, Phoenix Harper,
River Wilde, and now Zane Perry.
“Can you hear me now?” he bellows.
I nod my head as my heart pounds in my chest. My hands feel cold and clammy and
a nervousness that makes me weak and shaky takes over. Doubts race through my head
and I’m questioning if he’s going to make it through this. A vague awareness that
something bad could happen kicks around in my mind and I can’t shake it. The Wilde
Ones are doing a sound check on stage and Zane’s not on his game.
It’s July and the weather has been brutally hot. But today it seems cooler. Maybe it’s
the California weather maybe it’s the excitement of being home. The Beautiful Lies Tour
bus finally rolled back into our home state of California after six months away. When we
pulled into the amphitheater, we could see tanned kids in board shorts and bikini tops
already lined up at the will call window. Security guards in polo shirts directed us to the
artist parking lot, and we were officially home. Tonight we’ll be headlining our biggest
show to date. We’re on tour without my brother, River, and still more than half of the
shows are sold out, including tonight’s. River quit the band—touring just wasn’t for him
but even so the album is on its way up the charts. Who knows it may even hit gold status.

4 "Roses are so Cliche" Stars

Kim Karr delivers yet again. She wrote this book – Connected – and made falling in love with the hero, River Wilde, so easy. But not only do you fall in love with the prince but with his princess too. River and Dahlia became a life force all their own. Then she wowed me with Dazed. She took Aerie Daniels humanized her, gave her these emotions that only Jagger Kennedy could reveal and I again caught myself falling for her main characters. Thinking no way she can do it again, one of these days a hero or heroine of Kim Karr’s will disappoint me - I’m not in any way ashamed and relieved that I was wrong.

This author always delivers. Mended, just like her other stories, grips us with angst, turmoil, and connections. The angst leads to drama, leads to happiness, leads to major twists, leads to more connections all providing the reader with great reading. Her story telling is intriguing and captivating. Always making you think about who’s involved and why or how. Connections, as the series is so aptly named, make these books mysterious without the reader even realizing. We think we’ve got it all figured out when another twist shocks us. All of these connections from the unexpected places lead to the personal growth and discovery of her characters.

Mended tells the story of Xander Wilde. Xander Wilde presents as a solid, strong, straight talking alpha. Xander fell in love with a girl long ago. He never stopped this girl but because of unforeseen circumstances had to let her go. He let her go because his love is selfless and boundless. Knowing he would stall what she deserved out of life he set her free. Twelve years later he sees her again, now a woman, still breathtakingly beautiful. Upon seeing Ivy, a series of emotions begin to unravel while events begin to take place setting in motion a huge shift in Xander’s life. While this book is a love story, Mended focuses a lot on Xander. It’s a journey for him especially to reach an understanding about his life based on the past he thought he knew, the present that’s challenging him, and the future he wants to map out. I loved experiencing his journey through his eyes, his thoughts. His love for his family, his bond with River especially, his ambition, determination, and skill hold him high on a pedestal. Xander lives life happy but there’s a melancholy loneliness to his happiness. When he begins to let go we see a different side of him, a gentle side, a side that is so not cliche - a side that makes him unlike any other hero of Karr's.

Ivy Taylor sees Xander as the boy who got away. Not privy to the truth of his actions she’s scarred. Broken from a time in her past that she never believed would shatter her, Ivy sees Xander for the first time in years causing her world to spin again adding meaning to her existence, meaning she didn’t even realize was missing. She’s a great heroine and just who I’d imagine Xander needs in his life. Their banter is fun, the vulnerability in their passion consuming, and strength and love they feel for each other insurmountable.

Xander and Ivy’s story is tragically romantic. Xander’s journey is tragically healing. If you’re looking for lost love, angst, drama, and easy reading then Mended gives you exactly what you need. A story about selflessly letting go, always wondering if you’ll find your way back. This author takes you on emotional journey’s that heal and break and heal again, mirroring real life so accurately. She stealthily sneaks up on the reader with twisting plots and brilliant inner-dialogues constantly reminding us that life is trial and error. This book is not my favorite of the series but it blends in with the stories that Karr continues to build so naturally and effortlessly. And as usual with Ms. Karr, you can expect the unexpected. And you can count on enjoying the hell of the unexpected.

Arc received by author in exchange for an honest review

The enchantress of passion, sex and Rock ~N~ Roll, Kim Karr, overwhelmed me once again in “Mended”, the third installment in the Connections Series. I adore this series. River has become one of my favorite romantic heroes and I was hesitant in taking on Xander’s story for fear that the magic created by Dahlia and River could not be achieved. Nonetheless, I can never get my fill of Kim’s storytelling, so I attacked Mended and happy to say that I was proven wrong. Karr hits it out of the park once again. She concocted a new spell and I fell in love with Xander and Ivy.

I have to confess, I was a bit tainted and put off by Xander’s character. In the first two “Connected” books, he came across as a pushy, unfriendly (especially to Dahlia) smart ass. But, by page 5 of Mended, I was over it. Xander wormed his way into my good graces with his sexy and dominating ways. Even at a young age, Xander had a commanding presence. I like seeing into Ivy and Xander’s blossoming relationship ~ And their pool house escapades. He was sweet, sincere, and knew his heart and soul would forever belong to Ivy. But sometimes life forces one to make rash, irrational decisions. Xander, for reasons buried deep in his heart and with good intentions, turned Ivy away. His life was filled with turmoil and tried to shelter her from his chaos. (Really dumb move). Turning Ivy away lead them both down a path of heartache that neither of them would recover. It would take over a decade for them to cross paths again, and give Xander the opportunity to right his wrong.

During their separation, Ivy became a famous recording artist while Xander threw himself into his work. Managing the band was his priority, which distracted him from heartache. He poured himself into the band’s fame and success. Destiny miraculously presented an opportunity, which brought Ivy back into Xander’s world. Making the most of a second chance, he worked hard to repair the years of pain and damage, which existed between them. His focus now, to rebuild their friendship, trust and rekindle their passion. Still in love after all these years, slowly their foundation is rebuilt and a friendship ignites into full blown sizzling desire. Xander is adorable and romantic. So swoon worthy.

Ivy… Conflicted between the need to protect herself from Xander and her heart that still aches with the need only he could satisfy. After all these years, she yearns for his touch, his lust, and his love. Her mind wins, at first, but Xander worked hard to crack the armor and made his way back into Ivy’s favor. Oh, how I love the chase… and once caught, these two create heat. And the realization of how deeply she loves Xander is heart warming. She sacrifices all - her heart, her happiness, her freedom - all for the love of her life. She is devoted to Xander even if forces are ripping them apart. I don’t agree on how she went about it ~ it created more emotional drama for Xander and conflict with the evil douchebag that is Damon. But Xander was even more determined to reclaim what is his, (love the Alpha mentality) Damon be damned, and won’t stop until Ivy is permanently in his life and his bed. Total macho sexiness.

A Kim Karr story would not be complete without a healthy dose of angst mixed with suspense and drama. I crave theses tense moments and I was not disappointed. Damon Wolf, you are an evil, rotten lousy son-of-a-bitch. What a bastard…. I loved hating him. His jealousy consumed him and ate at his dark soul to the point of trying to destroy Xander. It gave me great joy and satisfaction when Xander had his big “Screw You Damon” moment.

The journey of a lost Xander finding his way back home into Ivy’s loving embrace was amazing. Another great read gifted to us from the talents Kim Karr possesses. The perfect mixture of raw sex, angst, drama, tears and joy. I was so happy to see River (swoon) and Dahlia (My heart ached for you!!) Can hardly wait to see what Ben’s story has in store for me.

"If you love someone, set them free. If they come back, they're yours."

We have seen Xander Wilde (River's brother) and Ivy Taylor in other books in this series. But now we get their full story. We see them as teens totally in love and who get separated and how their lives together veered off course.

She's not just a girl I used to date...she's the only girl I ever really loved. She's also the girl whose heart I broke.

But now twelve years later as they are both going through difficult times, they find themselves in the same place and in a position to help the other with their current problems. Now they are back in close proximity and both afraid to admit how the other still affects them,. They are the "one that got away" for each other, but secrets, misconceptions, and half truths from the past still lurk under the surface. And neither wants to get hurt again.

Oh, Xander! He gives his brother River a run for his money. We have seem him be bossy, controlling, uptight, protective, and even rude in the past. But now we see him as a boy that was hurt and a man who suffered the consequences. He is loyal, caring, still protective, sexy and magnetic. His past loss and guilt really messes with his head though and he has demons that haunt him. And this man who thrives on control, finds himself losing control whenever Ivy is involved.

But with her I can let my guard down; I don't have to control every little thing I feel free--free to have fun and explore the emotions I've locked away for so long.

Ivy is the girl who was naturally beautiful inside and out, but did not have an easy life. She is sweet, sassy, and talented. But she always gets pushed into doing what others want, but now she is trying to charge of her own life. But that is not easy with toxic people in her life trying to pull the strings and willing to do whatever they have to in order to get what they want. Xander broke her heart and that makes her vulnerable, but it is hard to deny that she is still drawn to him.

"Because Xander, my body might want you but my heart doesn't."

Together they share a deep connection that survived time and distance, but they are affected by past pain, secrets, and misconceptions. They are such a sweet, passionate couple with a solid basis in friendship and first love that just got totally ruined by circumstances. But they still have a strong chemistry and easy rapport when they let their guard down, and it is obvious that the truly care about the other one. The sexual tension and longing is so intense between them.

We were always so much alike. We covered up our feelings, pushed them aside, wore a strong armor to face the world, but with each other were were bared--no shields, no masks--just what was real and what was true. And the emotions I'm feeling between us right now tell me that hasn't changed--they tell me I'm home.

But their situation is complicated and they have not only their past to deal with but other outside influences, secrets, and hidden agendas. There were times I was frustrated with the secrets and miscommunication between them, and I wanted them to push each other more or faster. But their past was only one small part of the big picture threatening their future happiness.

So will it be a new start or another road to heartbreak?

Even though this can be read as a stand alone, part of the fun of the series are all of the connections and interweaving stories. We see more of River and Dahlia(Connected and Torn), Aerie and Jagger(Dazed), his sister Bell, and of course the band The Wilde Ones: Garrett, Nix, and Zane. We learn more about the Wilde's family history and past. There is more with Damon Wolf who I continued to hate with a passion.

I felt that this book was less angsty than the first two, but still had many twists and surprises especially in the second half. There were several mysteries that unfolded as the book went on and the reader learned about them piece by piece making it interesting. It was told in both Xander and Ivy's points of view that let us see right into their deep feelings, fears, and insecurities. I really enjoyed this installment and stayed up til 2 am to finish it. This series just always seems to suck me in since I know there will be surprises and twists and the characters are so well developed. It was an engaging story of love, loss, healing, and second chances. I am looking forward to more with Ben and Bell in Blurred and Frayed and the remainder of the series.

It started with young, in-love and hormone-ridden Xander at 18. Even at a young age, I already knew that they were IT for each other. Their love may have been young, and it is most likely ran by hormones and fancy dreams of forever, but it was real. I could almost feel that they were meant to be together, and nothing could go horribly wrong despite the dysfunctional families both have – but s**t happens, and every dream stops when you wake up. Reality, grief, and one single incident had brought them apart.

But everything is not what it seems…

Years later, both of them become successful in the music industry but it was only when a disaster strike the Wilde One’s latest tour that Ivy Taylor strutted back in her life. Desperate for the tour to continue, he agreed to. Perhaps, this might be the opportunity he was waiting for him to finally explain and tell her the truth about the past.

But Ivy belonged to another. It was out of desperation that she wanted to be in the tour. It didn’t matter if her one great love Xander was there. She just needed to finish the tour avoiding him. It seems unfathomable when he keeps on getting closer, and suddenly, all her resolve were starting to melt. The chemistry just seemed to build up instead of dying down, and no matter how much she denies it – she was never really over the boy who broke her heart.

Damon, however, wouldn’t let her go, and just like Xander, he wanted another chance, and he would do anything just to have her. He held a secret that could shatter them all, and yes, Ivy wouldn’t let him do that. Xander did her a great act back then, it was just fair she returned the favor, even if it caused her Xander.

You will fall in love with Xander – both the man and the boy in this novel. He might did something unwise back then, but he had suffered through it. Both he and Ivy deserved a happy ending, but it was a long way before they reach it – they have to survive the past, the deception, and the big secret that could tear them apart. I was surprised with the twist, and I didn’t see it coming. I didn’t expect to like their father, after all he did – indeed, there is good in every man. I was glad to see River & Dahlia appeared in this novel, although a tragedy just broke my heart for them. Nevertheless, they held on tight, and their love was just stronger than ever.

Family always comes first for most of us, but until when? Until when can we sacrifice our happiness and our dreams for them? Ivy was a great girl, but I wish she would stand up to her mother. She had spent half her life taking care of them, it was time for her to take care of herself.

Kim Karr had not just written one great, hot, unputdownable novel, but she coupled it with a great playlist as well that will intensify your emotions as you read through the pages. This series just kept on getting better and better each time I read it, and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

“Xander Wilde the boy may have broken my heart once upon a time… but Xander Wilde the man, is the one who mended it.”

Mended has love, lots of drama, suspense and full of hotness and sexiness all packed into a one hot read. Everyone deserves a second chance but your only lucky enough to get that second chance in life. The story is about Xander Wilde and his high school sweetheart Ivy Taylor and the owner of the heart whom he broke for a tragic reason.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Xander bad boy attitude who still wants his ex-girlfriend Ivy, even after all these years. The longing and the feelings he still has for her is unbelievable. It's the kind of love that no matter how far apart your are, there will always be a special place in your heart for that special someone, specially thinking of that someone who got away, or so we thought...

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

The trials and tribulations that they had to go through was heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. Sometimes you must let the one you love go, to realize how you really felt was more than what you thought possible and when that love of your life comes back to you, then you are meant to be. And from personal experience, true love never dies and that's what Xander and Ivy have.
I love all Kim Karr reads and I will be coming back for more since you have totally captivated my heart with the The Connection Series.

An ARC was provided to me by the Author for my honest opinion.

This is one of the easiest reviews that I have ever had to write.
This book was flawless. It's one of those books that you just don't want to put down. The love between Xander and Ivy is pure.
Kim has such a way with words that just draw you in and you feel like your right there with the characters. I love the way she writes and every word in this book shows how much she truly cares about what she is actually writing.
I fell in love with Xander. He got me. He hooked me and I love him. Just like his brother River your going to want more of him and just when you think "OH GOD" that was so beautiful he goes and tops it off with saying something else. From the very first chapter of this book you will be completely sucked into the world of Xander Wilde. And believe it when I tell you he is Perfect Actually.
Thank you Kim Karr for delivering yet another AMAZING book for us. You my friend are a genius.

Kim Karr really does write heart-warming, feel good romances which restore your faith in human nature and true love and Mended is definitely another winner from her but be warned – Kim’s not afraid to throw in a truly shocking plot twist so be prepared for the unexpected!

This time, it’s the turn of Xander Wilde, big brother of River and manager of the Wilde Ones to find his forever girl and that girl is Ivy. He and Ivy were High School sweethearts. They were very much in love but they came from different walks of life, different circumstances and things were never going to be easy for them but then, the whole situation with Xander’s father which we’ve heard about in the previous novels, forced them apart and led Ivy to believe that Xander had betrayed her. Xander has let her believe this for years, thinking it was the right thing to do at the time but he regrets the loss of his Ivy and has never truly got over her.

Now, with Ivy a successful pop artist and Xander and The Wilde Ones finding themselves in need of a lead singer for the tour, Ivy steps in the join them, much to her over-bearing manager and fiancé's disdain and they all head off on a US tour together. Think two people who could hardly keep their hands off each other in the pasts with a world of hurt and pain between them now cooped up on a tour bus for weeks. Sparks are going to fly!

Xander had, at least for me, come across as really rather ornery in the previous books and it was so good to get closer to him, to see what a sweetheart he really is. He’s never really stopped loving Ivy and this was a fabulous second chance love story, of a love that seemed completely lost but could not be denied.

Ivy appeared to be such a lost soul – nearly all of the decisions she’s taken in her adult life have been for the benefit of someone else. Her family circumstances and her manager have never allowed her to fully pursue her dreams and singing for the Wilde Ones is a break that Ivy really relishes but she’s desperately trying to resist Xander’s charm. She believes he betrayed her back when they were teenagers and isn’t prepared to listen to the truth.

Of course, they just can’t resist that unrelenting pull that exists between them buried deep beneath all that heartache and they will eventually fall into each other’s arms but even when they seem to have found one another again, tragedy and shock are just around the corner to attempt to derail their fledgling rekindled romance.

This was such an emotional roller coaster of a ride – Kim Karr does a fantastic job of ramping up the sexual tension and chemistry as Xander and Ivy attempt to resist their attraction and I adored the second chance theme that ran through the book. Xander and Ivy show that their love is true and total and stands the test of time. We also get to catch up with River and Dahlia and the rest of the boys as they take their tour across the US.

Mended has just about everything a heartfelt, charming romance should have – a little bit of angst, a fair amount of humour and a whole lot of sexual chemistry and sweet love. Another fantastic addiction to the Connections series.

“With his first grin in my direction – I melted. When he first played his guitar for me – he scored my mind. When he first kissed me – he stole my heart. And when he cheated on me – he took a piece of my soul.”

Mended by Kim Karr is Xander’s story and if you remember Xander from Connected he was a bit of an ass, so to say I went into this book a bit weary is an understatement. I was not sure what to expect with Xander’s backstory but I was pretty sure it would be emotional and dramatic to make him act like that now. Goodness was I right, Mended is an emotional rollercoaster that had me feeling so deeply for Xander and Ivy that I couldn’t stop reading till I was positive their story would be OK.

Xander and Ivy’s story is a beautiful second chance romance full of surprises both overwhelmingly happy and devastatingly sad. Ivy and Xander were high school sweethearts but it was clear from the beginning that this was not a puppy love but a deep forever kind of love. Xander was so caring and loving towards her and when they ended I am pretty sure both of their hearts broke into a million pieces. Their story shows us that a misunderstanding and failure to explain can ruin a relationship and lead two people on two different paths.

“Roses are so cliché.” Then he kissed me and snickered. “I prefer Ivy.”

When Xander was eighteen his life took a tragic turn and instead of fighting for Ivy he let her go because he honestly believed it was what was best for her. (SWOON always thinking about her first.) Twelve years later when they run into each other it is clear that the connection they once had is still there but one small problem . . . she hates him and can never trust him again. When Ivy ends up on tour with the Wilde Ones (the band Xander manages) it test their boundaries and pushes them to work on a friendship at the very least. Watching them get to know one anther again and get past all the problems of their past was amazing. But watching them fall in love again was PHENOMENAL!

Kim has written a story about a love that endures and once again she has blown me away with her ability to suck me into her story. I never would have thought I could love Xander as much as I do. He is utterly romantic and sexy. His ability to melt hearts and drop panties at the same time makes him the best kind of book boyfriend. Mended was romantic, sad, heartwarmingly happy, and amazingly sexy all at the same time. Even though I do believe this could definitely be a standalone I honestly recommend reading the whole series because it is wonderfully exciting, fun, and sweet! Each one of the books in the Connected Series is better than the last!

Kim Karr has done it again. When I first read Connected from a new indie author I couldn’t believe this was her debut novel. It literally blew me away. Quickly her talents were recognized and signed and now is a published author and her work is continuing to blow me away.

Mended is the story of Xander and Ivy. Once young loves that grew up and apart are thrown together when Ivy joins The Wilde Ones on tour everything from their past is thrown into their present and questioned. Lies and hurts are questioned and feelings that were buried deep start to resurface.

Xander wants Ivy but knowing that she is currently unavailable to Damon doesn’t truly stop him. He knows they are meant to be and he vows that during the tour he will earn Ivy’s trust back and show her just how truly he loves her. He will let her know once and for all the reasoning behind the hurts that he caused her in their past and prove to her that his love for her was very much true and still exists today.

Can Xander earn Ivy’s trust and love back? Will Ivy stay strong and keep her relationship with Xander professional guarding her heart from being broken again? Or will the sparks that started so long ago reignite, setting a blaze of passion between the two leaving their love mended?

Kim Karr has a way of pulling you into a story and keeping your attention the entire time. Her characters are so well thought out they come to life on paper. Her storyline is flawless. Mended was a true love story. It contained everything that I love. Young love, true love, passion, sexual tension, heartache, lies, steam, and characters who are easy to fall in love with.

I don’t think Kim will ever write anything that I will not devour and utterly enjoy reading. She has a way with words and it’s refreshing that her writing and storylines have stayed consistent from her debut novel. Xander was a strong lead character that was easy to feel passion for and want the best for. Ivy was a strong female character whom I wanted to wrap my arms around and tell her that everything will be okay. For me she was the girl who just wanted to be loved but didn’t trust easily and would make anyone work for her heart. She had strength that made my heart swell.

Kim I cannot wait to see what else you have in store for us in the Connected Series and when the series is all said and done I can’t wait to see what other types of novels you bring us. I will forever be a fan of your work. If you haven’t read the Connected Series you are truly missing out and you need to grab them all and start today. Connected (Connected #1), Torn (Connected #2), Dazed (Connected #2.5), and Mended (Connected #3)! Grab them and fall in love with all the characters and fall in love with Kim.

4 ½ Stars!

The talented Kim Karr has managed to raise the bar even higher with the latest installment in her highly acclaimed Connections series. Mended is an aptly named book that takes a close look at destined love that despite time, distance, and misconceptions, will not be lost forever.

This is Xander Wilde’s book, and to be honest, I have not been a huge fan of this character since he was first introduced. His attitude, arrogance, and control complex was very off-putting, but my first impression of this character was obviously misguided as he is now my favorite Karr hero.

I really connected with this story. It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of “second chance” love stories, and this one did a fabulous job of mixing both flashbacks from the past and present day in a way that helped legitimize this relationship.

As the book opens, we are introduced to 18 year-old Xander Wilde and Ivy Taylor. They are young, but passionately in love. Through misunderstandings and circumstance, Xander and Ivy break-up and go their separate ways. Fast forward 12 years and Xander and Ivy meet again. It is hard to describe the scene where Xander and Ivy meet again. The spark/chemistry/attraction that was so obvious in the opening chapter of the book is again so obvious. The looks exchanged, the tangible sexual tension, and the obvious longing that the reuniting scene portrays gave me goose bumps!

One negative thing about this book is the issue of communication (or in this case, lack thereof). It drives me completely crazy when a five-minute conversation could clear up years of pain and agony: as was the case with Xander. I wanted Xander to get honest with Ivy and tell her about the truth of his fidelity. In my opinion, it took him far too long to do this, and my impatience with him, for a time, slightly hindered my enjoyment of the book.

However, despite this, Mended was a romantic, sensual, and believable love story about a man who loved a woman, never stopped loving this woman, and finally gets the chance of a lifetime to catch her and never let her go again. Kudos to this author for managing to redeem a hero, and at the same time create a “second chance at love scenario” that will capture your heart and make you believe in happily ever afters.

Fabulous read.

Review: I was given a complimentary copy of Mended by Reading Bliss. I just want to say that I love Kim Karr’s writing. I found her book Connected on amazon about a year ago and just fell in love with it. I hated having to wait for Torn to come out. It was totally worth the wait! I loved Mended. Xander and Ivy’s story is just wonderful. I really enjoyed reading it. I love stories of past loves reuniting. Ivy and Xander had a high school romance. Xander’s family had an issue before graduation and him and Ivy kind of fell apart. Quite a few years later they run into each other, and the same spark that was there before came back again. Xander tries to keep his distance because Ivy is engaged to Damon and he won’t let her go. There is some drama and passion and a lot of love. I highly recommend this series! If you haven’t read Kim Karr’s books I suggest you get them now! I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!
My favorite quote: “I know we’re so dysfunctional that it can’t be any good. Sometimes love just isn’t enough. But for us it should be, because two wrongs can only make a right. So, baby, let’s keep this and make every time the first time.”

I was given a complimentary copy of Mended by Sunshine and Mountains blog. Kim Karr writes some awesome books! I just love her style and that she captures my attention in all of her books. Xander thought he had things going smoothly until disaster hit the Wilde One’s latest tour. The lead singer was unable to sing so River was going to come back and sing but then Dahlia was unable to travel. So Ivy Taylor said she was willing to help them out. Ivy never thought she would have to see Xander again but she needed the money. Xander and Ivy have the same connection as they did in high school. But there is a lot of anger among them. They try to be friends for the sake of the band. Xander tries to keep his distance because Ivy has a crazy ex fiancé who thinks he owns her. Things get intense. I don’t want to give anything away. But I definitely think if you haven’t read Connected, Torn, Dazed and Mended that you should! I give this book an A+! (5 out of 5 stars)

*********BOOK HANGOVER********

Goodness Kim Karr you truly are an amazing author.

This book is written perfectly! I loved how Kim started the book with a young Xander. This to me is perfect because it doesn't start as a memory it's like it's actually the present. (Hope I make sense) because this book begins when he is still in school.. So you get to experience a young Xander in love. As the book continues I have to say my anxiety was killing me. I wanted to know more and more. This book is full of surprises and twist that I don't think we see coming at all. The secrets this family has are BIG!

I loved both the main characters. They are written to where they aren't perfect (that to me is important). I loved how they made mistakes in their pass and keep making mistakes in the present. That makes them feel more like real people! (Again hope u get me lol) Ivy is totally gorgeous and can sing. But her troubles with her mother are what makes her character struggle. I totally felt so bad for her but at the same time I wanted to scream at her and shake her till she understood she didn't have to take certain actions lol.

Xander of course we all know him from connected as rivers oldest brother. He is one sexy mother$&&! He has this swag that I just fell in love with. I think he was perfectly written. His attitude the way he reacts to situations just everything was on point with him! I have to say that he to me is sexier that river ladies( don't kill me).

Omg let's talk about sex scenes!! WOW!!! Truly sexy scenes and I'm talking about the ones where they aren't even having sex! Just the whole touching HOT HOT HOT!!!

We also get a glimpse of Dahl and River :( my heart broke for them this time around!! I like how Kim snuck in a bit of every character! Now let's say that the only character I wanted to kill was Damon omg this guy I hated so bad! But without him this story wouldn't be as good as it is! To say he isn't a big part of the story would be a lie!

Ladies give this book a try and remember this is book 3!!!! This books has it all Sex, Love and Rock n Roll.....

The Connection series continues with River's brother Xander's story.

Xander Wilde is the manager of the Wilde Ones. He has always been a little too serious and rarely smiles. In this book we learn of his heartache.
Xander has only loved one woman and her name is Ivy Taylor. Ivy and Xander were an item, they loved each other and were looking forward to a life together.
Life sometimes doesn't happen the way we want and due to a misunderstanding and a horrible situation in Xander's life they break up. Years later when they meet again, they can't fool their heart for too long.

“Do you think relationships can work that way?”
“What way is that?”
“That something once broken, irreparably, like us, can be so easily mended?”
“I think all relationships are different and each one has its own dynamics. There are no rules to follow. So, yes, I think if we both want this bad enough there’s no reason we can’t have it.”

I love the Wilde Ones. Kim Karr is able to get me inside their heads and fall in love with them. I should include Jagger in this group. Kim made me like Xander even more and root for him unconditionally.
Ivy was a good heroine. She didn't deny her attraction to Xander and it when there was a time for her to do some self sacrifice she didn't hesitate.
I hated Damon Wolf. No questions about it.

I can't wait for Bell's story.

“Roses are so cliché.”
“I prefer Ivy.”

First off - I mentioned in my review of Dazed that I thought River will be joining the band again and I was stoked! There's a part of me that feels he is destined to be on stage, but for those who read the 2 books about him and Dahlia, it was kinda sweet that he was sure and ready to lead a laidback life with her. It was part of his charm and what made him even more endearing. So, even though I didn't get my wish, Xander and Ivy's story is too beautiful to be disappointed over that.

Xander is the responsible one among the Wilde brood. He took care of River and Bell, and although musically inclined as well, he chose to manage the band, Wilde Ones, where his brother River used to be the vocalist. He was supportive & loyal but brooding and keeps his emotions in check all the time. Behind his gruffness is a man who would do anything for the people he loves - sacrifice his own dream to be there for his family, sacrifice his heart to see the girl he loves soar and break free.

He is a guy who have loved and lost. He fell in love with a girl a long time ago.. and he never stopped.

He dated Ivy back when they were in high school, but broke-up after being together for four years. She, however, remained to be the love of his life even after 12 years.

Due to some complications, they ended up working together in the band. I won't delve too much on how the story goes, but suffice it to say that these two have great, sizzling chemistry, with a back story to melt your heart.

The twist? I didn't see that coming! But then, I didn't expect the twist about Ben in River and Dahlia's story either. Just like in Connected and Torn, this book unraveled some revelations that made the story more interesting. Kim Karr is so good in weaving a love story laced with a touch of mystery that makes the reader want to finish the book in one sitting.

I have yet to be disappointed by a Kim Karr book! Each book of this series just keeps getting better and better…Kim’s writing style and story development continues to grow and I am in just in awe at her ability to suck me into a story. Mended was emotional, passionate, and of course I loved the second chance at love feel to the story. 4 stars.

"Music has the power to heal all, but not all broken hearts can be mended."

Mended is the story of Xander and Ivy. We met Xander in Connected; he is River’s brother and the manager of River’s band, The Wilde Ones. You don’t necessarily have to read the books in order to understand Xander’s story but I feel that you really should. Anyways, Xander and the band are looking for a singer, River and Zane are out and they need someone….this is where Ivy comes in.

Ivy was Xander’s childhood sweetheart. Unfortunately, circumstances rip them apart and force them to break up. When the two meet again, there is a definite spark between them, but Ivy fights it…she’s not at all happy about it…and neither is her fiancé. Can two people who never stopped loving one another, discover the truth and finally get the chance to be together?

“I think all relationships are different and each one has its own dynamics. There are no rules to follow. So yes, I think if we both want this bad enough there’s no reason we can’t have it.”

I really love this series! Mended is a beautiful story of love lost and love found, and a wonderful addition to the Connected Series. I recommend you add this series to your TBR list if you haven’t read them already. I can’t wait for Blurred.

Kim Karr has done it again, made me fall for another Wilde man! We get to see a different side of Xander in this book. In the past he's been gruff and had a bad attitude, but being in his head and seeing the heartbreak he's experienced put things in perspective. What made this book so great for me was the intense connection between Xander and Ivy. The spark between them was so electric. I couldn't put this book down.
"With his first grin in my direction - I melted. When he first played his guitar for me - he scored my mind. When he first kissed me - he stole my heart."
Xander is River’s older brother and Jagger’s cousin. He and Ivy dated from the time they were 14 until the summer before college. They had plans to go away to college together, but after spending the summer apart, things changed. Twelve years letter, Xander is the manager of The Wilde Ones and Ivy is a pop star engaged to her much older agent. When Xander and Ivy run into each other after all those years apart, the connection is still there buried under the secrets and heartbreak. They can't let one another get away again.

I love that we get to see more from River and Dahlia too. River is such a great brother.

The title Mended fits this book perfectly. Kim Karr once again wrote a book that completely left me speechless. So speechless it took me a week after finishing Mended to finally find the words I was looking for to write this review.

I am a complete sucker for second chance love stories. Stories about high school sweethearts reconnecting years down the road are by far my favorite. Xander and Ivy are thrown back together years after they broke up. Neither has lost that spark and love they had for the other, only life isn't that easy. Ivy is engaged and not willing to admit to herself that she still has feelings for Xander. Xander however wants to try to make things work and fights for the love he knows they share. Ivy's fiancé doesn't give up on her easily.

We all know what it is like to fall in love when you are younger and for some reason life gets in the way and you are ripped apart. Xander and Ivy's story is exactly that with the expected twists and turns that Kim likes to torture us readers with. Just when you think they work out all their problems, you are thrown a curve ball and left brokenhearted.

Can Xander and Ivy mend their love and have the happily ever after they deserve or will life again get in the way forcing them apart? Did you really think I was going to answer that question? Nope, not happening. 1-click your copy of Mended and find out for yourself.

I enjoyed this book so much! This is the a continuation of the Connections Series. You have Xander Wilde (River's Older Brother) and then Ivy Taylor. They were first time loves, first time everything.

The book starts off twelve years after thier romance and both are living different lives. Ivy is engaged to someone else and Xander has been running River's band.

After twelve years they see each other and the spark is still there, but Ivy is taken. Xander wants to win her back, but Ivy can not let the past go. The past that really is not what Ivy thought.

The Wilde Ones vocalist can not perform and Ivy steps in to finish the tour.

Holy Hotness, Xander and the feelings for Ivy! The story goes back in time and narriates how they fell in love and what occured to get them on that downward spiral.

They is a great read that truely shows true love will win.

My favorite lines in the story are: "If you love someone, set them free. If they come back, they're yours."

Of course, "Roses are so cliche`"

I almost forgot to add that you get a tidbit of River and Dahlia in the story too! :)

2.5 stars

I love how the story started..it's exciting and knowing that they'd be apart is kind of what i've been looking forward to. This is written in dual first person POV but mostly Xander's.

Around 40 or 50% of the story, I got really bored I didn't think of dropping it.

There were some parts that I kind of just skipped, those are the scene that I find boring or totally not necessary, that includes the scene when they were playing cards... I don't know, I got bored with it.

I was kind of hoping that the 'cheating' scene is gonna be Ivy's POV, I wanted to know how she felt but too bad...it was Xander's.

I like the characters, but I like Xander more.. Kinda hated that Ivy got married...

2 stars...because it ain't enough for me... I feel like there's too many not so necessary scenes and should have added 'fun' scenes.
