IT'S YOUR TIME TO SHINE is an inspirational and giftable board book. The book features a poem about life that is intended to encourage young children to be themselves and enter the world boldly and confidently.
What I loved: The illustrations here are lovely and tell the story of growing up and the many adventures had along the way. The character changes and has experiences that will resonate with young readers throughout. The poem is cute and inspirational with a giftable book feel that would work well at times of change and accomplishment. The book talks not only about the good times but also some of the tough ones that life throws your way - in vague terms, keeping a hopeful and positive tone throughout.
What left me wanting more: As a small thing, the rhythm changes several times throughout the book that can create some verbal stumbles. The rhyming pattern likewise does not feel fully consistent. While most of it reads pretty smoothly, it can feel awkward in places.
Final verdict: IT'S YOUR TIME TO SHINE is a charming and inspiring board book that makes a great gift at times of growth/change, such as graduations or entering a new school. A solid pick for all ages.

With a rhyming scheme, Dianne White takes you from a tiny baby to a child graduating and heading off into the world. This board book is perfect as a baby gift and one that can be read as the child moves on into each “new thing” in life.
As they struggle to learn to ride a bike or have a fight with a friend or are too afraid to jump off the diving board at the pool, this book will remind them we all have days where things don’t go as we planned. But, we get back on the bike or we say “I’m sorry” or we try again to jump in the pool. Each time we learn something new about ourselves and that makes us a better person.
Some days will be wonderful and some not-so-great, but either way, your child is a star and this book will remind them to be confident and courageous and most of all to be themselves! I’m always thrilled when I see a character with red hair and the girl in this story does. Kids will see the progression of growing up in the illustrations and read the emotions as well. This book makes for a lasting gift with advice and support that any of us might need right now.

TIME TO SHINE, also written by Dianne White and this time illustrated by Nanette Regan, is an inspirational, board book about growing up and becoming your best self. Opening verses (“There’s a time to begin/ and a time you will wait./A time when you're early./A time when you're late.”) are accompanied by an infant in a crib and a toddler learning to walk, followed by the child aging up and growing her life experiences. “There’s a time for inside/and a time to go out./Small moments of quiet./Big moments of SHOUT!” The text is smooth and song-like and begs to be read aloud, while illustrations, loose and evocative, are active or contemplative in turn. TIME TO SHINE, with its gentle push for this child to “show the world who you are: confident, courageous, a bright rising star!” is sweet and lovely. This book would be a terrific gift for new parents, or graduates of any age!

This is such a sweet, cute, empowering book. Love the lyrical rhyme. Children will be charmed by seeing this bouncy little girl grow through the ups and downs in her life and find themselves in the story. Perfect for new parents. Perfect bedtime story for toddlers and young children. Perfect uplifting gift book.
Nanette illustrations are gorgeous and so much fun. She did a great job letting us see the little girl as she grows. I love the illustration of the little girl as a young adult watching the stars. It’s Time to Shine is a sparkly book, so the stars are a perfect fit. Lastly, I have to say, I adore her curly hair, another perfect touch.

A board book that follows a little one from baby to grownup? So unusual and yet so perfect! In fun bouncy rhyme, White takes us through the ups and downs of living a full and present life - there will be big successes and little wins, there will be spectacular failures and small disappointments, there will be sadness and joy - but through it all, you the reader are in charge and what a fun ride it will be! With sparkly illustrations that complement the text, this is a great book to give to new parents, graduates and everyone in between!

This adorable board book is just right for new parents or families with toddlers or preschoolers. The story spans the life of a new baby up through their graduation and beyond. The illustrations are gorgeous and the gentle theme (sometimes things won't go your way but stay strong because success is around the corner) is one we all need to remember. This book would make a sweet present for a new grad.

A delightful board book, great for gifting to anyone expecting a baby or even as a graduation gift. The story follows a young girl from the time she's a baby up until it's time to go out in the world on her own, with all the highs and lows that come in between. Okay, just prepare to buy this board book in bulk and have it ready to give it to anyone you know having a baby! I know I will! This lovely story follows a baby girl through all those special landmarks in one's life, both big and small, quietly acknowledged and loudly celebrated. Parents and caregivers will love reading this with their little one and imagining the special moments to come.

I loved the illustrations and the poetic text. My kids enjoyed it too. Since it’s a growing up book it’s easy to relate to.

I love the idea of a board book that includes the life journey of a kid all the way to graduation and having a girl shine bright in all her moments of accomplishment with the reassurance that challenges will pass. I can see this book being a companion for young kids as they get older. A great gift idea for preschool and kinder graduation!
