Ah, I am so glad these kinds of stories exist in BL. Actually, it's stories like this one that make the early suffering through all the sadistic seme/weepy uke stories worth it.
And for all that I always say that I am not a big fan of high school stories - mostly because I can relate to adults more than I can to teenagers, but also because reading about teenagers having sex makes me feel creepy sometimes - I am fine with high school stories like this one: two students who go to separate schools but always take the same train together slowly become friends and then realize they're attracted to each other.
I really liked the innocence of it - the awkwardness in the beginning when you make a friend *is* similar when you start dating someone, and the lines can be a bit blurry there (unless you're not attracted to the sex your prospective friend is, I guess). You like the other person and you want to spend more time with them but you don't know whether the other person isn't weirded out by you and maybe you're coming on too strong.. that kind of feeling is captured perfectly in here, as is both their realization that their feelings go beyond friendship.
I am a big sucker for stories where feelings get a chance to develop like that - you can really feel both characters' attraction to each other and they just seem like a nice match. It's a lovely story, so lovely, in fact, that I don't know why I rated this only four stars in the beginning. Five stars it is.
(This manga doesn't have a lot of sex or kiss scenes, but I don't care about that sort of thing when it has such great emotional scenes.)

One of the sweetest yaoi manga I've read so far. This author is amazing! I've only read 2 of her works but both of them were super cute 
. As the title says, it is a slow building of a new relationship between Kiyo and a guy he meets on the train, Ino. They only glance at each other at first, then slowly they start to talk and become friends.
When Ino overhears a girl saying she will confess to Kiyo, he becomes sad. Why is that? Could it be that... he is in love with Kiyo? But both of them are guys, isn't it that weird?
What follows is cute Ino having sleepless nights and overthinking about it, and being mostly miserable.

I really love this one. XDD So sweet and adorable!!XDDD I love how slowly and innocently everything progressed. It gave me butterflies moment, gahhh. XDD And I couldn't stop smiling while reading it, from beginning to the end.
Honestly, I like this one better than Blue Sky Complex. ;)

So cute and funny. Kiyo just recently moved, so while before he could reach his school just in five minutes, now he must take the long trip by train. Since the train's route is stretched up to a small village, there isn't many people board the train. But there, in that deserted train, he alwasy meet this same guy but never take the chance to say hi until one day Kiyo missed his stop and the guy wake him up. That guy name is Ino, a senior in an all-boy school, much like Kiyo himself. After the incident, Kiyo and Ino starts to converse and being friends--and of course, more than friends.
Kiyo and Ino is so cute and dumb and awkward I can't wipe the smile off my lips. Their relationship comes so natural and fun and comfortable, without all those jealousy dramas--well, there is, but unlike those you usually read in yaoi mangas. I laughed so loud at their awkwardness during confession. It was messy as hell yet so funny and adorable. Love it!

4.5 stars. That was insanely good. As usual, I'm impressed with how vividly realistic everything is. I absolutely loved it when things would be seen in the point-of-view of a certain character and the readers could really witness the internal turmoil happening inside him. God, it was so compelling and just felt so goddamn real. I love how it was so character-driven; and this really pulled the readers in and, furthermore, was also largely the reason why Ichikawa's stories are so riveting. Everything came so naturally, especially the chemistry between the guys. The progress wasn't slow, but just right. There's a subtlety to it that's quite rare in most shounen ai and yaoi. It's so realistic, like I said, and there are several instances when it was so painful, but that's just a part of it, and as a whole
Slow Starter
is so satisfying even without those steamy scenes.

Es la historia más adorable, dulce y sencilla (en los mejores sentidos de cada palabra) que he leído en mucho tiempo. Y eso que todos los que me conozcan sabrán que yo de romántica tengo más bien poco, pero estata historia es una excepción, podría decirse. Todo fluye de manera muy natural, las páginas pasan rapidísimo y se disfruta un montón.

Ino y Kiyo son monísimos, me ha gustado mucho.
Dos estudiantes de Instituto se conocen en el tren que les lleva a la escuela y se van enamorando, suena a muy trillado, pero Ichikawa Kei ha conseguido pegarme a las paginas y mi corazoncito ha terminado súper reconfortado ^^

Sweet and simple romance between two guys from different high schools traveling the same train. They become friends and then realise that they love each other. I really enjoyed reading it.

"Slow Starter" es un manga adorable y tierno que cuenta la historia de Kiyo e Ino, dos chicos de institos distintos que se conocer viajando en el mismo tren.
El argumento es sencillo y predecible, pero el nivel de honestidad de la historia lse suma puntos. La relación que establecen los personajes, de desconocidos a amigos, de amigos a enamorados, se siente muy natural. Hay momentos incómodos, de dudas, un poco de ansiedad, otro poco de descubrir qué está pasando. Es un muy buen cambio encontrar un manga yaoi que explore de manera sana este tipo de situaciones (tal vez por eso le haya subido un poco más el puntaje).
En cuanto al arte, es particularmente un estilo que me gusta mucho: estilizado, con detalles en la moda o los peinados o con mezclas de texturas. En algunos paneles, eligieron simplificar expresiones para hacerlas más graciosas -ojos que son puntos, bocas que son rayas- y se siente un poco forzado pero voy a dejar pasar porque no afecta el ritmo de lectura.
En general, es un manga tierno, muy dulce e inocente, incluso el especial +18 apenas si tiene un par de paneles que valen la clasificación, así que para los fans de las historias más explícitas, este romance puede quedar corto.
Personalmente disfruté que se enfoque en el comeinzo de la relación y que nos muestre un progreso sin demasiado drama. Luego de mucho tiempo dí con un manga yaoi que me realmente me gusta.

Everything in this manga is so cute and innocent. The relationship felt so honest, even with its awkward moments. As a reader, we know they both like each other, but being able to see how the feelings develop in such a healthy way was so nice.
The art is great too. Some character designs are really nice, especially the MCs. There are some simplified expressions in some panels to make the situations look "funnier" that I could live without, but overall I liked the style, very stylized and with some textures here and there.
In general, it could be a little too sweet for some people (even the +18 addon, is really tame), but to me, it worked perfectly. Sometimes you only need a little adorable and simple romance.

La historia es bastante tierna y aunque da la idea de que es un amor a primera vista, el desarrollo de la amistad y de los sentimientos es bastante paulatino...

Bu mangaka realist aşkı çok güzel çiziyor. Okumuştum önceden ama tamamen unutmuşum, mangakayı sevdiğimi hatırlayınca canım da tatlı aşk çekince koşarak okudum. Çok tatlıydı.
