My Thoughts:
When I began reading Sweetest Salvation, it opened like an erotic romance with the way that Andy reinserted herself into the world of the living.

Andy Sheaver is a grieving mother and widow who blames herself for the death of her husband and her child. After their deaths, she becomes a virtual hermit and secludes herself from the life that she once lived. She feels that she deserves no happiness and no peace. Only pain and guilt. To provoke her pain, Andy visits the sex club owned by her husband's best friend, Hunter Sullivan. A club that she and her late husband frequented often. Andy makes her way to "their" room which is a veritable sex palace and voyeur's paradise. Opening the "viewing" curtain to the adjoining room, Andy spies a couple in the midst of a rousing bout of sex. Feeling her desire and her body come alive for the first time in years, Andy approaches the couple and the husband and wife concede to allowing her join them.

Andy and the husband, Nolan, tease, taste, and titillate each other while the wife, Paige, watches and enjoys. The sex between Andy and Nolan is fierce and she demands that he punishes her. I had to fan myself a time or two because it was definitely a steamy scene. The energy level between the three sparks highly and their passion coalesces with a steamy climax for all three. Mildly sated but still nursing her broken heart, Andy leaves the couple, intent on leaving the club, and runs directly into Hunter...who she has been actively avoiding. Hunter is furious to see her in his club without him. He knows that she is hurting and in her hurt has become self-destructive. But Hunter refuses to allow her to spiral out of control. He lays down the law for her and lets her know how it will be...for her...for them...for their future.

Andy is resistant and hesitant. She will happily give up her body buy ferociously guards her heart. But Hunter will not be denied. He will have Andy. Heart. Mind. Body. And soul.

Hammell did a masterful job creating a story that was an equal measure of sweet and oh-so-sexy. Andy and Hunter's pain was palatable and their passion was tangible, tempered by their long enduring friendship. The story tugged on my emotions as well because Andy had lost so much but she fought her way back with Hunter's help. I appreciated how Ms. Hammell allowed Andy to evolve to see that she was not only hurting herself but Hunter was as well. It was then that she came to recognize the depth of her feelings for him and how deeply she spiraled in despair. And Hunter. Seriously, who could not love Hunter?!?!? The man was absolutely amazing. He never blamed her for the loss of his best friend and godson. Andy bore that burden on her own. But he was incredible in how he dealt with her -- firm and steadfast.

My one complaint is that I would have loved to see their lives further into the future -- married and with children of their own. I guess us readers can't have it all. I'm a true lover of happily-ever-afters.

Sweetest Salvation was a wonderfully enjoyable and quick read that portrayed the power of love conquering all.

I enjoyed Sweetest Salvation, but the romance progressed a little quickly in my opinion. The heroine went from a year of severe depression and grief to a new relationship, with her dead husband's Best friend, no less, in the space of a week. I would have liked to have a seen more time and emotions explored in the change in relationship status.

Sweetest Salvation Kacey Hammell

Sweetest Salvation penned by talented author Kacey Hammell is a delightful feel good novella that you will enjoy if you are like me; one who savors the delicate blend of romance, intrigue and titillating intimacies. Ms Hammell is no stranger to the romance, mystery genre consistently doing an outstanding job of pulling the reader into the story from the first paragraph to the last sentence.

Ms. Hammell artistically centers Andrea Sheaver, the lost her husband Patrick, best friend, awesome lover and soulmate on the canvas of Sweetest Salvation. Andrea is a beautiful, alluring woman with a sweet spirit who is suffering from the agonizing broken heart that may never go away. She has locked herself away from the life she once enjoyed for nearly a year since the death of Patrick and her baby.

Hunter Sullivan, a dear family friend, Patrick's best man and the godfather to Peter the son of Andy and Patrick. Hunter is a man of honesty and carries a ripped body with “eight pack” abs, tall, awesome bedroom eyes and a heart of gold. He is a walking fantasy. Hunter is a dreamy man, skillfully sexy, and a hard worker I admired. I could not get enough of him as a main character in Sweetest Salvation and I admit I was more than tiny bit envious of Andrea.

One of the settings featured in Ms. Hammell's narrative is an ultra exclusive adult club known to an elite client as “Splendor” where erotic play is befitting its name with Hunter as the proprietor of this classy, establishment.

Hunter's heart is pained watching Andy's lifestyle changes since Patrick's death. As an understanding, trustworthy, compassionate friend Hunter is always there for Andy should the needs arise as she travels the rough roads of the grieving process. Hunter has a vibrant, electrical vibe for Andy however, Hunter has long since buried that emotion and desire deeply in his soul. This secret emotional roller coaster would never be expressed because of his loyal friendship shared with Patrick since high school not to mention the Sheaver family's adoption of sorts of him into their family.

Ms. Hammell depicts a backdrop of a peaceful day of the sunshine on a clear beautiful, warm day, heightened with light fragrant flowers; what a wholesome setting to embrace you as you move about your day. A day associated with blissfulness. Unfortunately, Andy would not permit herself that luxury and surrender to blissful days of this type since the deaths of her beloved husband and son.

Ms. Hammell uses all the sensory receptors to ignite a sensual explosion among many of her characters in this narrative. Her supporting cast is strong, enchanting and carries a sense of freedom similar to that of a soft breeze, along the rhythm of a bubbling stream. I enjoyed the encounters between husband and wife; Paige and Nolan and their sensuous role in the Sweetest Salvation. The tenderness of other characters in Sweetest Salvation: Bridget, the Sheavers, Mrs. Morrow sail throughout this story as a life raft for a grieving widow and mother.

The representations of love in Sweetest Salvation reminds me of warm, delectable, dark chocolate on a plate of the mouthwatering summer berries.
Will Hunter be Andrea's lifesaver rescuing her from the bottomless sea of alienation she has fashioned for herself? Could Hunter's tenderness, supportive nature be the ingredient necessary in soothing Andy's heartache? Can true love and a soulmate be granted twice into a person's life? This intriguing thought continuously tapped on the door of my heart as I devoured Sweetest Salvation.

I enjoyed this story from beginning to end leaving me with the wonderful sensation of the meaning of trust, compassion and love. I highly recommend Sweetest Salvation hoping you will experience the same pleasures it provided for me.

In my opinion, Ms. Hammell has earned her sparkling stars for another finely honed narrative.

Andy has lost her husband, Patrick, and their child and longs to feel something besides grief so she heads to the sex club she and her husband frequented. The sex she searches for is more of a punishment act than for pleasure and she gets what she is looking for. As she is leaving the club she runs into owner who also happens to be her late husband's best friend. Hunter has loved Andy silently for many years. He is angry she has come to the club to experience pain in order to feel something other than grief. When Hunter refuses to let Andy to return to the club she threatens to go to another club. Hunter relents and allows her to return to the club on one condition that he picks her partner. Andy quickly agrees not know Hunter plans to be her partner...and he wants more than just sex.

Grab the tissues and be prepared for an ugly cry, this is a good one. Sweetest Salivation starts out hot and heavy. The sex in the beginning between Andy and the couple she hooks up with is yowza hot. The sex she has with Hunter is equally hot but the as the story progress it because less about sex and more about romance. Andy's pain is so palatable I couldn't hold back the tears. Author Kacey Hammell creates such an emotional roller coaster story, starting with physical pleasure, weaving in conflict and ending with emotional ecstasy. Oh yes reader, this one is quite the ride.
This is definitely a book worth reading.

When Peter, then later Patrick, is torn from Andy Sheaver’s life, she almost wills herself to die. Survive is about all she has done, but her body is now begging her for something more.

It tears Hunter Sullivan up every time he remembers his best friend and godson, yet it hurts just as much to see Andy wasting away. He loves her, always has, and it breaks his heart that she refuses his help.

The loneliness of her and Patrick’s home is finally too much, so Andy seeks an outlet in the only club she is comfortable in. Not running into Hunter is a priority, although doing so is not much of a surprise. What is a surprise is how much her body reacts to his, and how much he wants the same. Hunter will do anything to keep Andy in his life, especially if it helps them both heal from the tragedies of the past.

Grief, anger, and guilt are the only emotions Andy has felt for so long it is no wonder she goes to extremes her first night out. I love how gentle, patient, but also persistent Hunter is when he reels her back from the edge. Their bond is much deeper than the physical, which turns this story from just BDSM to a real romance. Ms. Hammell tells a lovely story with a softer BDSM angle to spice things up.

This is a story that will break your heart and leave you very emotional.

Andrea has had to live with grief for two years. She blames herself for the deaths of her son and husband. Neither was her fault but she can't seem to get past the blame. She doesn't understand how her life changed in just a blink of an eye. The one person that she can lean on and knows what she is going through is Hunter.

Hunter lost his godson and the best friend that he thought of as a brother. He has always loved Andrea but never acted on it because of his love for Patrick. When he see's Andrea in his club and finds out what she did, he knows that he needs to finally step in and make her see him.

I can never imagine the pain of losing a child and then my husband. I was feeling all kinds of emotions when I read this book and I didn't know if I would make it through even though it wasn't a long read. I was glad that I read this book and I can't wait to read more books by this author.

Andy has gone through what I think is every woman's worst fear - losing her child. Shortly afterward, her husband dies. Somehow, she believes that she is responsible for both of their deaths, and wants find pain through sex.

Hunter is up and down and all around yummy. He has been a part of Andy's life for a long time, and loved her from afar.

I really enjoyed this book for a number of reasons. First, although it is erotica (and some damn good erotica, I must say), the people and emotions in this book are very real. I found myself in tears a couple of times, and that has never, ever happened while reading erotica! I also loved the way the "family" in this book was structured. It was really heartwarming.

If you're looking for some erotica that has emotional depth, you'll definitely want to check out the book.

Although there is one sex scene that walks into D/s sex, mostly Andy's kink is voyeurism. The sex between Andy and Hunter, though, is more sensual than kinky, and this novella is more about two people healing from the loss of family and finding a second chance at love than anything else. Although I appreciated both the past that Andy and Hunter were drawing from and the time they spent together before deciding they were "in love", I never fully connected with them as people. However, the sex was well written and the story was still enjoyable.

Decent read. Kinky play, not BDSM. I felt the story being rushed through most of it.

I Loved this short, sweet and oh so HOT, yet heartbreaking story. I felt it was a good blend of the different emotions the story drew from the readers. I wasn't sure if I would like the story, so I "borrowed" Sweetest Salvation from a NOOK friend, but now I will go back and buy a copy for myself.
