To read this book was one of the best decisions that I have made. The title already says it all, it's a workbook that teaches you how to improve your memory and it comes with more than 100 exercises to help you to achieve this goal. This will keep you busy for a couple of weeks if you work seriously.
I loved the wide coverage of the topic. You will find tools how to remember names, foreign words, numbers, body sequences, directions, music, quotes and more. The author encourages you to try out different methods and gives good examples how it could look like. This tremendously helps to find out what works best for you individually so once you are done with the book you can build your own optimized strategy - and use it.
A true eye opener was the introduction to the Major system to remember numbers easier. I have never heard of it and was amazed when I put it into practice. Remembering a credit card number is a piece of cake now, unbelievable.
In addition to the memorization instructions the author also talks about accelerated learning and how our brain stores information. Knowing the internals helps to come up with better strategies to remember something faster. The book itself is structured in a way to support this so you can test for yourself how it works.
At the end the reader is presented with an extensive memory workout. The daily training will help to master the techniques and boost the confidence that you can remember everything.
I had an enlightening moment when I did one of the last exercises where you should remember 10 people and their order in an Italian restaurant (e.g. Robert has mussels with white wine). First I thought, well, that's a lot, but having worked through most of the book I just started and built my memory network within 10 minutes. Then I did something else and 15 minutes later I tested my recall. Out of the 30 things (10 names + their food and beverage) I only had one beverage wrong and even now, after 1 day, I can tell you that Joshua ordered a veggie burger with apple juice. :)
This book gets my highest recommendation.
