I’m dead inside again, but this is far worse than it was the first time.

Before I met Sean Reynolds I was cold, isolated, carefully controlled.
I hadn't even realized that I wasn't really living until he showed me what it was to connect with another human being.

But now I’ve lost him, and in the process I’ve lost myself.

I’m sick of being hunted, tired of living in fear.
And Sean isn’t here to protect me anymore.

It’s time I became the hunter.
I have nothing left to lose.
I won’t stop until I have my revenge.

But when the time comes, will Sean have my back, or will he be the one stabbing a knife into it?

Warning: This book contains strong language and scorching sex scenes involving BDSM.

Note, the following review is for the dual point of view version of the complete Impossible story…

Earlier this year I picked up Dark Lessons, the first book in the Subversive series. Whilst it works perfectly fine as a standalone novel, I found myself wanting more Julia Sykes. When I found out the Subversive series was a spin-off of the Impossible series, carrying on the Impossible series with known characters in Chicago, I knew which Julia Sykes books I would be picking up.

Thus, I went and brought the entire Impossible series.

Despite purchasing the entire series, I ended up reading other Julia Sykes books before diving into the Impossible series. Holden and Brandon are extensively re-written stories of the first two books in the Dark Grove Plantation series. Being such short reads, I was happy to dive into them when I had little time to read something much longer. I’m not usually the biggest lover of short stories, but I really enjoyed them both, which made me all the more excited to dive into the Impossible series. In fact, reading Holden and Brandon simply worked to bump the Impossible series even higher up my to-read list.

I’ll be completely honest by saying the book does take a while before it really gets moving. Although events are happening and you’re growing to enjoy the characters, the start of the book is rather slow. I was enjoying it, yes, but I was a bit impatient for things to start happening. For anyone who feels the same way, I beg you to hold out. Once things start to move, the story is wonderful.

From my handful of Julia Sykes books, I’ve reached the conclusion you can expect certain things. The characters will be a lot of fun with wonderful chemistry. The chemistry will lead to amazing steamy scenes. Later in the book the action will be really exciting. You may have to wait for the action, but the development of the characters and getting to know them certainly makes the wait worthwhile.

With Impossible, I came to love both of our main characters. I know Impossible started off as a single point of view, but I’m so glad it developed and became a dual point of view story. It was great to see events from both sides, especially later in the book when things really got moving, allowing us to see all that was going on.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. It may have been a wee bit slow to begin, but I was addicted throughout. There is no doubt of me jumping into the rest of the Impossible series, as I cannot wait to find out more about the characters we were introduced to throughout this book.

DISCLAIMER TO MY FELLOW GOODREADER
This review is my personal opinion and may contain: spoilers, quotes, rants, cussing (sometimes I cannot help myself) and a possible full on recap. I in no way want to ruin anyone’s book reading experience so please read my words with caution.

Oh how much has Claudia's life change in a matter of weeks. She was kidnapped by a bastard trying to save his friend. She was saved by the man she saved. She was held captive by the men and fell for one of them. He let her to. The FBI approached her to inform on the Westies. She ends up killing a man and finding out the gun she used killed her parents. The man she fell for is the son of the man that killed her parents.

Book 3 begins with Claudia ending her arrangement with the FBI so she can kill Ronan. Agent Vaughn informs her a few days after that Bradley and Sean were taken into custody. Sean told the authorities it was his gun so he was being held responsible. The fuck. While Claudia is just about to kill Ronan, Agent Vaughn intercepts her. Good hell! Claudia learns she fucked everything up with Sean because she lost trust in he FBI. Agent Vaughn is gunned down on her porch by fucking Bradley! He's the only one to call her a whore... Son of a bitch.

Everything just gets to fucked up. Claudia opened up to another person and he was killed. Things get strange when Sean shows up at the funeral. Apparently our loveable Dom cut a deal against the Westies. Claudia goes to work even though Sean protests. Ah bad idea! Ronan and Bradley are not in custody yet woman. Bradley kidnaps her again! Ronan gives her an impossible choice - overdose or he kills Sean. The fuck. At this point, she knows she loves Sean so she shoves the needle into her vein. Sean shows up with backup.. Could that be Clayton?? Claudia almost dies but they save her just in time. Clayton is alive. He agreed to go deep undercover if the FBI could "kill him."

"I love it when you make love to me by fucking me."

I'm so sad this is the last book in this series. This final book picks up with Claudia in a personal vendetta to find and kill Roman, her lover Sean's father. Claudia discovered he was responsible for her parents death in Traitor.

*****POSSIBLE SPOILERS*****

Unfortunately things do not go down well. Clayton the federal agent who's working on the case, is hoping to put Roman behind bars but he has no idea that Claudia has a plan hatched of her own. Unfortunately things don't go down as planned. Sean ends up going to jail because Claudia has refused to continue being a snitch so she can focus on finding Roman but her plan back fires and Clayton ends up being shot trying to protect her. Then Roman and Bradley kidnap Claudia, and she's given the option of killing herself or letting Sean take her place. (Bradley is Sean's long time friend from the previous books and bad to the bone) The race is on to see if Claudia will be saved in time.

This story is much more action packed in suspense as well as a few really hot scenes between Claudia and Sean. Lots of hugs to Julia Sykes for allowing me to read an ARC. I'm looking forward to reading whatever she is working on next. This was a really good series.

This review is for the 3 novellas of this trilogy (the three written from the heroine’s POV). The plot was interesting but the writing felt amateurish, trite dialog, and I couldn’t connect with the H/h or their love story. The third one (Avenger) was better.
HERO type is unclear, he’s bitter since he’s forced to work in the illegal business of his father. When he’s shot, a doctor is kidnapped to save him, and he falls for her.

Well, that was a little bit crazy! In a good way!

3.5 stars

This book is super short. It took me a few hours to get through. Unfortunately 'real-life' has been insane lately, so I'm only just getting around to reviewing it now.

This is a hard review to write without spoilers. It's moved on so much from the first book.

I can't believe how much Julia Sykes manages to pack into her short novels. It's amazing. I felt like so much happened in just a few pages.

"You didn't betray me," he said softly . "You saved me."

I really can't decide whether I liked this is a trilogy or not... I felt that maybe it would have flowed better as a duet, or maybe even one book. I just didn't feel that the books were long enough for it to be a trilogy, and I thought that perhaps, the super fast pace of it all compromised the reader's emotion at times.

I really hate when I can't quite remember what happened in the previous book. How am I supposed to invest in the characters and summon up the emotion when I'm struggling to remember the plot? I definitely think it would help to read all three books in quick succession.

However, all that said, if you like your romance with a dark, action, thriller vibe, you'll enjoy these books.

There are quite a few twists and unexpected turns for you to really get your teeth into. There are lies that seem like the truth and truths that seem completely unthinkable. Julie Sykes takes you on a journey of deceit, crime and eventually justice.

One thing I have to mention. Clayton. Oh my god, whaaaat?

That was mad! Ok, I'll shush now, if you want to find out what it was about hunky FBI Agent Clayton that I'm reeling about, you'll need to read the books.

"I don't think that I could bare to live without you, Claudia. Clayton saved both of us, and I'm forever indebted to him for that."

I have to admit, I didn't really feel Sean in this book. I didn't feel that he played that huge a role, to be honest. He was absent for some of the story and then when he came back, I felt more emotion for Claudia and also Clayton, than I did for Sean.

So, I have mixed feelings about the ending of this trilogy. I think it's a time filler. If you fancy something a bit pacey, very steamy and quick and easy, give these a go. They'll certainly get your pulse racing! As I said before...

'For fans of kidnap, Stockholm type series, you'll love Julia Sykes' Impossible series. And along with the scorching hot BDSM scenes, this book is a real dark, delicious, guilty pleasure.'

It was as though we were addicted to one another. A Sean was a drug that I never wanted to quit.

I really, really wanted to like this series. The premise seemed quite original and I love stories featuring a morally ambiguous, anti-hero that is redeemed through the course of the story and is given a second chance at happiness. That is what I thought this was going in.

However while Sean may be considered an anti-hero to some degree; he is hardly morally ambiguous. He is a really decent guy, who was still at the mercy of his troubled childhood and was still being victimized by his abusive father. But it isn't Sean that I had a problem with; he was a likable and interesting character.

My complaint with this series (and the last 2 installments in particular) is twofold. The first issue I just cannot look past is the absolute implausable and improbable plot. There is suspension of disbelief and then there is a fantastical tale so outrageously divorced from any sort of rational reality that it just keeps kicking you out of the story. I have a similar complaint with regards to much of the dialogue. It was at times hard to stay in the story when all I heard in my head was "WHO talks like that"????? I thought I would burst a blood vessel every time Claudia insisted that someone "Promise" her or "swear" to her and acted like it was an iron clad carved in stone unbreakable oath. And Sean's penchant for calling Claudia "little one". Seriously?

My second issue was simply that I hated Claudia. With a burning, fiery passion. I thought she was a childish, egocentric, self absorbed drama queen. I think I rolled my eyes at almost every line of dialogue she had.

Clearly my dislike is a matter of preference; and one man's junk is another man's gold and all that - so I have tried to be as descriptive as possible about what didn't work for me. Some people may not be such sticklers for a semi-realistic plot and some people may actually like Claudia.

2.5 stars.

This series was so hard to take seriously. They were all short, so it was not a huge investment of time, so I stuck with it. I didnt hate it, but in the end, the heroine was almost TSTL. She was irrational and impulsive. Our hero had no idea of self worth. I found myself shaking my head through most of this series.

First off I need to thank Julia for letting me in on her journey while writing this series. I LOVED getting each installment when she was done writing it. I'm going to miss Sean and Claudia, But I look forward to see what Julia comes up with next.

This is the final installment in the Impossible Series. I have really enjoyed this journey with Claudia and Sean. In this final Installment we learned All there was to learn about Sean.

Sean, Like I said in this book we learn what had happened to Sean to make him the ruthless man that he was. We also learned that underneath it all he does have a heart after all. He truly does LOVE Claudia. he has seen that she is right for him. She has saved him from the Monster that he was.

I LOVED Sean in this book, More then I did in all the rest. He truly opened up more and was more forthcoming with details about his past. He finally admitted it all to Claudia.

Claudia, She finally grew her own set of balls (per say LOL ). She was amazing in this final installment. She fought for what she believed in and that was Sean. She was not going to let anything happen to him even if that Meant she had to die herself to protect him ( she did not die don't get excited).

There are some great twists in this book. I do not want to give anything away. At one point I was like What the heck is Julia doing to me, this was not suppose to happen, but then As the twists continue you understand what things happened the way that they did.

Book Blurb:
The third book in the Impossible series. Release date May 3, 2013.

I found that I was dead inside again, but this was far worse than it had been the first time. Before I met Sean Reynolds I had been cold, isolated, carefully controlled. I hadn’t even realized that I wasn’t really living until he showed me what it was to connect with another human being. I had foolishly allowed myself to hope for a future with him, envisioning a day when both of our souls were fully healed and we were free of our pasts. But now I had lost him, and in the process I had lost myself.

Dr. Claudia Ellers had thought Sean Reynolds a beautiful traitor, but in the end it was she who betrayed them both. Her actions have changed her, hardened her. Claudia is sick of being hunted, tired of living in fear. And now Sean isn’t there to protect her any longer. So she resolves to become the hunter, and she won’t stop until she has her revenge. But when the time comes, will Sean have her back, or will he be the one stabbing a knife into it?

"I was calm, detached, reflecting the nothingness I felt inside. It wasn't peaceful, exactly. I was just...empty. The raging inferno that was my desire for vengeance had burned everything away, leaving me unencumbered by feelings of guilt or self-doubt."

This ending...WOW! I'll admit, I almost dreaded how it would end. I was afraid of the outcome--would it end the way I wanted or would my mind be screwed? I was a combination of both actually!

After the cliffhanger in Traitor, I was scared that Claudia and Sean's relationship was truly over and that their lives were even in more danger. I was right about the danger part! Good lawd! This book was gripping and page-turning until the end!

Not only did you have the thoughts of "Will she fight to save Sean?" and "How far will she go to avenge her parent's deaths?", but you also have the budding friendship between Claudia and FBI agent Clayton Vaughn. I truly loved Clayton and I have to say he brought tears to my eyes a few times. One time in particular! You have to read to find out!!! *Grabs tissues*

"I know we haven't known each other very long, but our relationship means a lot to me. I don't want to lose you, Claudia. I hope we can repair what I've damaged between us."
"There's no damage, Clayton, I haven't had a friend since I was thirteen years old. Other than Sean, you're the only person I've trusted since then. I'm not going to give that up. I'm not going to give up on you."

This book left me with my emotions all over the place! I was angry, scared, gobsmacked, swooned, heartbroken, and hot and bothered. Everything you need in a good book, right?! So many things happen to Claudia in such a short amount of time, but she is a fighter. Even when her world is spinning out of control, she has the will to keep going...even if it means her life is sacrificed.

"I'm the one who betrayed you by going to the FBI."
"You didn't betray me. You saved me."

I enjoyed this series sooooo much!! I'm so glad that there are more things to come for the secondary characters. I can't wait to read more about them and more stories from Julia Sykes!

"Sean knew, and maybe, just maybe, our deep understanding of just how damaged we were would help us heal each other."

Here's another quote becuase....well just because:)

"You need to control as badly as I need release, and I want to give that to you. Please, Sean, let me do that for you. Know that I accept you for everything you are, and I wouldn't have you change for anything."

This is a review of all 3 books because I purchased Impossible: The Original Trilogy with Monster, Avenger, and Traitor in it.

************************************************

Oh my, where do I start without giving any spoilers??? That’s really hard to do when you’re reviewing a trilogy.

From Julia’s Goodreads page:

Julia’s primary goal is to take readers on a sexy, emotional roller coaster ride.

She did do that. She did an amazing job with sexy, emotional roller coaster ride.

I’ll tell you what, I was starting to wonder how screwed up I was when I was rooting for Sean in the first book. Sean was the ultimate alpha male, strong, way protective, seriously domineering. She was kidnapped and here I am still thinking Sean is going on my book boyfriend shelf. Technically he didn’t kidnap her, Bradley did.

There is crime, there is passion, there is heat. Oh my goodness is there heat. Julia, you have a way with words, on all fronts, not just the love scenes.

I loved it. Every book in the trilogy. I loved them all.

I’m so glad I got it as a trilogy and had them all right here at my fingertips, going straight from one to the next. I don’t know if I could have handled waiting for book 2 and 3.

I knew I was looking at a good series when I put all 3 separately on my Kindle wish list back in May.

I’m so happy I just happened to come upon Julia’s site during a blog hop and see that this was on sale for 99 cents. I knew I had the books on my TBR shelf. I had to grab it.

I don’t feel like I am doing the book justice but if I go into too much detail I am going to give spoilers. That’s bad. No spoilers.

It’s just really really really good and really really hot.

I think I’m finally getting over my book hangover I had.

Right now, Impossible: The Original Trilogy is 99 cents. You get all 3 books: Monster, Traitor, and Avenger. I’d snatch it now before the price goes up. I’m so glad I did.

Clayton (FBI) is walking Claudia to her door. She and Sean (her gang affiliated boyfriend, whom she had been spying on for the FBI) have broken up. Clayton is protecting her. A masked man jumps out of her bushes and threatens to kill Claudia with a gun. Clayton steps up and takes the bullet meant for her. Clayton was her first friend in a very long time. She is devastated as he bleeds out. She is a Pediatrician, but his injuries are beyond her help. She is devastated at his funeral. When she returns home Sean is out of jail and there for her. The FBI is putting together a case against Bradley and Ronin. Bradley was Sean's best friend, and it was his voice that Claudia recognized as the shooter of Clayton. Ronin is Sean's father and the head of the Westies Gang. He also killed her parents which caused her to go into the Foster Care System. It was a terrible life for her.
The FBI detail assigned to protect her and Sean at her house tell her they will be moving in to take down Bradley and Ronin. She insists she be allowed to get back to her practice and a normal life rather than hiding out in her house. Over the objections of Sean and the FBI she returns to work. Bradley, dressed as an UPS delivery man, kidnaps her from her office. He knocks her out with something. When she comes to, Ronin and Bradley are standing over the chair she is tied to. Ronin convinces her that he will allow Sean to live only if she OD's on heroin which he oh so graciously provides for her. He wants it to look like a suicide. She agrees. Will the FBI find her and save her before the heroin does its job? What becomes of Ronin, Bradley, Sean and the Westies? Read the book to find out.

Oh my gosh I loved this last book of this series. It was an emotional roller coaster, I cried so many times, I was furious, I was happy, and then I was overjoyed. I was so worried at first about Claudia and her mindset, I didnt know what she was going to do and what would happen if her plans did go through. Then to find out what happened to Sean, I was devastated, I could not believe it, after everything and this is what happens. I did not like when Claudia started to give up on her feelings for Sean, thinking that they had no future and should she settle for another but was glad that these feelings were quickly terminated by a hot and steamy dream. I could not believe something that happened one night when she was escorted home, wow right out there in front of her house, she was devastated. Then when it seemed all was lost she got a shocker at the funeral, it was perfect, I could not stop crying and over the next few days I loved what I read, learned so much, and my feelings toward these characters in this book grew even more. Then of course stubborn Claudia doesn't listen and does something stupid which leaves her vulnerable and then she is given a terrible choice and because she loves Sean she picks him over herself, this selfless act is the most wonderful thing anyone has ever done for him but it was so dangerous. Then she is given quite the surprise, a place for a safe retreat, and new home, the love of her life, and a future with this man. I just loved this series, a must read.

Avenger (Impossible #3) by Julia Sykes

4 Stars

As we come to the end of the Impossible Trilogy, Claudia is hell bent on revenge after finding out it was Ronan who killed her parents all those years ago.

I have found this whole series really exciting. I was on the edge of my seat, constantly wondering just what catastrophe would be the next to befall these people and how, or if, they were going to survive it. The plot is action packed, unpredictable and full of twists and turns. Just when you think things are going one way, wham, something completely different happens.

Julia Sykes has got a great way with words. Her writing makes it easy to visualise each scene. The characters are well rounded, not perfect, they have flaws and that makes them believable. I was very impressed by the steamy scenes, they are really well written without gross or crass words making them feel smutty, although there was still that bottom drawer issue that I wished was not included, but we can’t all love everything about every book and I have mentioned this issue in my reviews for the first two series instalments!

If you want a story with intrigue, lust and love, this one is a winner it has it all and I would recommend it.

LOVED beginning. It hooked me rights away. There is nothing better then mafia affiliated, hot, controlling man. The book begins with Sean Reynolds getting shot and his friend taking (kidnapping) Dr. Claudia Ellers to nurse him back to health. Taking Claudia entails handcuffing her next to Sean in his bed. Loved the angst and time it took for them to connect. They slept next to each other night after night and it still took forever to hook up. I appreciated how the author developed the characters. I did not like Claudia at first. I saw her as cold and void of emotion. As her past was explored, she grew on me. I loved Sean from the start.
That being said, Claudia infuriated me at times. She took way too many risks and made impulsive decisions. I had a hard time imagining why someone so bright and well educated exposed herself to danger time and time again. UGH.
Thank you Julia Sykes for the Impossible Series. I read all books in a few days. They were entertaining.

Claudia has hit rock bottom, her only redemption, she believes, is in the elimination of the man who killed her parents, Ronan...Sean's Father.

But Claudia's plans are quickly intercepted. And to top it off Sean is arrested. Guilt, Depression, Emotional confusion, Claudia no longer knows which way is up.

Can Claudia survive any more heartache? What does Agent Vaughn truly mean to her? Can Sean forgive Claudia's betrayal? What hope does Claudia truly have of her life ever being normal (or as close to as) again?

True Julia Sykes style - Steamy sex with a hint of Darkness.

A great conclusion to a Dark and Dangerous trilogy!

*There is a surprise to look forward to with Agent Vaughn*

After everything that Claudia has learned recently, she decides she needs to take matters into her own hands and right the wrongs of her past and plots out revenge against Ronan and Bradley. She would also love to right the wrong that she inflicted on Sean, but doesn't know if he'll ever be able to forgive her...apparently, plotting revenge his father might not be the best way to get in his good graces...

I absolutely loved this series and although each book was a short quick read, I loved that each just picked up right where the other left off and there was no rehashing needed. Thankfully, I waited until the series was completed before I read it otherwise I would have been climbing the walls waiting to find out what happened next!

I have mixed feelings about the end to the first Impossible trilogy (it looks likes there are multiple trilogies for the series?? I can't keep it straight!) and give this final installment 3.5 stars. Claudia continues on her TSTL vein, ignoring that a gang is after her and insisting she goes to work. Then, although she has protection from multiple FBI agents, they can't seem to keep her safe. But I loved Sean and the sex was hawt, hawt, hawt, so that partially redeems Claudia's cluelessness. I did like the ending, and plan on reading the next series about Clayton. I'll say it in this review, as I've said in others and plan to keep on, that I hate this trend of chopping short books into parts and ending each with a cliffhanger, and it does factor into my ratings.

This book is the third in its series and is part of an 8 book series.

Claudia is full of revenge for her parents, she befriends Clayton an FBI agent, helping her find the murderers of her parents, and oh she is also working as a double agent and trying to take down the mafia.

She starts to have more real feeling about Sean, his friend, her other captor is a ruthless bastard, that is threatening to kill her.

Things do not go well with taking the mafia and her other captor down. She makes a good friend and is crushed when she thinks he's a goner. .

Plus, Claudia gets some major backbone and tries to take down the head of the mafia all by herself.

This story has a happy ending which is always good.

OK - so I reserved writing a review until I finished the first part of the Impossible series. I didn't hate it. I'm not sure how I felt about it, but I didn't hate it.

Pros:

characters were interesting

plot was interesting (at times)

I loved the twist with Clayton

Cons:

At times Claudia's reactions seemed right on point and then others they were either under or over where I thought someone might be.

I thought the twist of Ronan killing her parents was really unbelievable and somewhat stupid.

I will probably try to read the next set of stories about Clayton.

I loved this series!
Sean is a hot beast with a kind soul he just been forced into a life style he wants no part of. Claudia has no one but she lets Sean in and ends up betraying him or so he thinks. Now she needs to take control of her life and make it right for Sean. Clayton becomes a friend that she didn't know she desperately needs. Tragedy hits and Claudia realizes just how alone she is. Lots of hot steamy sex. Fabulous ending.

3 Stars for me!!
To be honest I really enjoyed the story, the characters were really nice, I loved Clayton and Claudia and Sean but unfortunately I thought that story could go more to the depths... everything seemed that it just touched the issues or the storyline. There was really big potential to be great book s for me it is just nice read which was done in couple of hours.
On the bright side I will continue with Savior, Knight and then with 3rd book because I really like the characters!!!
fingers cross, hopefully the stories will be more developed :)

Yes! (Of course I cant tell you what that yes is for.

Claudia and Sean are still fighting.for one another, trying to save the other in their own effed up ways. Its completely horrid at parts and then sweet in others.

There are a lot of things that I cant tell you about this book. So ungortunately this one will be short. I loved the ending! But I have to say there was a little slow reading to get to it. the last few chapters went a little stagnant.

Overall, a fun series to read. you get it all. The excitement, the yum factor, the heartbreak in more than one way throughout the book.

Avenger, the final book in this series, picks up right where Traitor left off. At the end of Traitor, Sean discovered that Claudia was working with the FBI, and he kicked her out of his life. At the same time, Claudia discovered that Ronan was responsible for murdering her parents. She is determined to kill Ronan herself.

This book is full of action, suspense, and of course the continued love story of Sean & Claudia. The ending was perfect. I'm going to miss Sean & Claudia!

Avenger, the third book in the Trilogy was my favorite of the three. However, I highly recommend you read the other two books first ( or Just buy the All-in-one Trilogy). It was filled with adventure, romance, sexy scenes, and a big surprise "oh! No!!!" moment! I really enjoyed this one and will probably read it again.

I loved the story. It was a good read, but needed a little more editing. There were a few places where I stumbled over the words. I really loved the characters and their journey. Scorching hot sex - Loved it! Loved the way the story ended and the crazy twists! I look forward to the other Impossible books.
