"Why are you looking at me?" ...
"Because I like your face."

Leo (A Sign of Love #1) was one of the best books I've read this year. It was a complete story start to finish that told a beautiful, emotional love story with a twist. The story was told primarily from the heroine's perspective though and despite it reading very fluidly as a stand alone romance with a happy ending, we didn't see any of the hero's POV. So this book, Leo's Chance, gives that story. It is not a sequel and it is not a stand alone, but rather a companion novel to Leo that goes back and retells the same story but from the hero's perspective.

You definitely have to read book #1 first because here you'll find references, details and reveals that you'd only know about if you'd read the first book.

I have to admit though, after how "complete" a story Leo was, I was curious what else there could be to the story. But one page in and I was sucked right into the book.

Just like with the first one, this book flowed effortlessly. I really love Mia Sheridan's writing style. She has a very fluid way of telling the story where suddenly you'll look down and realize that 10% of your book just flew by!

The whole book is told from his POV in a mixture of present day scenes and flashbacks. The flashbacks fill in the blanks from right before they met giving us a bit more detail as to the set up of their meeting.

Mia Sheridan did a wonderful job of telling the guy POV. I really found myself understanding all his thoughts, decisions and actions. Even his mistakes became clearer because, by experiencing them through his eyes, you could literally see how much he didn't mean them. Haha there were moments where you really felt him just go 'oh shit' and realize he'd just put his foot in his mouth. There were moments where he came off as bossy (in a good way) in the first book but seeing those scenes from his perspective show how he was really just trying to make a point. And most importantly, throughout the whole book, you could truly see the true depth of his feelings for Evie and how madly in love he was with her right from the start.

"My heart starts beating faster. I can't mess this up. I've come so far and now the only girl I've ever loved is right in front of me. And she might hate my fucking guts."

"She probably thinks I'm all over the map. Unsure one minute and caveman the next. But that's pretty much exactly what's going on inside of me. The two halves of me are duelling. I'm scared to death and possessive as hell."

I will say though that despite enjoying the story a lot, I did find it a little easy to put down during the first half. Not at all because of any fault of the story, just because it's harder to get quite as into a book when you know all the reveals and exactly what is about to happen. But at the same time, for a nice quiet day's read, it worked perfectly.

Given his rather painful history and the abuse he went through, it was really wonderful seeing inside his head as they developed their relationship. There were some things about him that I really didn't think about or fully appreciate in the first book but, seeing them brought to light here made so much sense -- like how huge it was for him to give control over the pacing of certain parts of their relationship to her. When you read it in the first book from Evie's POV, you just assume he's a nice guy, but what you don't immediately realize is what a huge gesture of caring and trust it was for him.

You really see how crazy in love with her he's always been and how miserable he was with the choice he made before, with the choices that were taken away from him and how desperately he'd do anything to win her heart and make her his.

"I'm going to show her how deep my feelings are for her and make her trust down to her soul that I want to take care of her. Because I do. And then when I tell her who I am she'll know who we can be together."

He's just such a GOOD guy. Screwed over to hell and back by life but such a sweet, kind guy and a protector in every way. It's in his nature, in his heart, and you can see it in all of his actions. He's impossible not to fall for.

The big reveal scene hit me again hard even though I knew it was coming. It's like the whole story builds up to this point and I'll admit I teared up again and loved seeing the new explanation and insight into the details that were revealed.

The steam level is high. Graphic but tasteful. Just like with the first book, it was HOT!

Ohhhh and the EPILOGUE!!!!!!! I was in tears for the whole thing. It's in Evie's POV and it gave us two brand new scenes that so deeply touched my heart!!! The book is worth it for this alone even. *happy sigh* I just love epilogues!

This whole story (book #1 & 2) is a beautiful, emotional journey of resilience, lasting love, and overcoming the worst life can throw at you and, in the end, coming out of it stronger, together, with something that will last forever.

Remember though, this is not a stand alone! I'm not going to lie, this really is the same story as the first book, but if you were a fan of the first book and fell in love with the hero, you'll love this too.

4.5 stars

4.5 Leo Lovin’ Stars!!!

 photo 600a1583-de36-4099-87a4-ae054c240220_zps88531645.jpg

“We all deserve a second chance, don’t we?”
Leo’s Chance is essentially ‘Leo’ from the male pov... I know, I know, we’ve been getting a lot of these lately. This was actually BETTER for me than the original. There was so much I needed to know from Leo- so it really helped getting Leo’s side of things. And the ending... there is a nice extra scene or two from Evie’s pov!

If you haven’t read Leo, and you are planning on reading Leo- you might want to skip this review. In Leo’s Chance, you already know the ‘twist’ from Leo at the start, so there will be spoilers for book 1 :D

Leo and Evie met when they were just two foster kids from Cincinnati. They became best friends. In the process of that, they started to fall in love. All too soon, they had to say goodbye to one another. Leo gets adopeted when he is 15 and has to move to California. Evie is 14 and left behind. Leo makes her a promise... they will wait for each other and in 4 years, when she is 18, he will come for her. Only it’s been 8 years, and Evie has kept her end of the bargain, but she’s never heard from Leo again.

After Leo was adopted, he had everything he could ever want on the outside, but his life was a mess. He just couldn’t contact Evie with everything that was going on. Leo changes his whole identity and starts going by Jake. After he takes over his fathers company and gets some help from a therapist, he goes back to Cinci to make things right with his one true love, Evie.

 photo 6b3678fc-94f9-4326-995c-a65d84dada4a_zpsd8fd15f6.jpg

He ‘stalks’ her for a while, and then introduces himself... as Jake. He can’t tell her about himself yet. He’s just not ready. But Evie is just as beautiful and wonderful as he remembers. He’s falling for her all over again.
If I wasn’t before, I’m ruined for life. Hopelessly. In. Love. The girl is it for me. Yeah, ruined. Happily ruined, standing smack dab in the middle of the ice cream isle.

Leo is gone, or so Evie thinks, so she decides to give Jake a chance. They start having a relationship. She is starting to fall for ‘Jake’ and he has never stopped loving her.
How did I doubt it would always be this way? Then, now, a million lifetimes from this one. My Evie, my heart, my lion tamer.

 photo 894be5db-f4cd-4bce-b91d-88b5a5dbafc2_zpsd08a224a.jpg
“When I fuck you, you’re going to be mine. Is that clear enough for you?”
Ummm.... HOT!!!!!!!

I just adore Leo. He is sweet, sexy, and damaged, but trying to make things better. I loved the flashbacks we see with his therapist, and what Dr. Fox did with his adoptive mom- I was so happy! Evie is such a wonderful character. Beautiful on the inside and out.
“How many people truly appreciate what they have because they know what it feels like to have absolutely nothing? I went through a lot to get where I am and I don’t take anything I have for granted, ever. That’s my reward.”

Evie is able to open Leo’s eyes and see what happened to him wasn’t his fault. He is worth something. He is worth fighting for.
“I choose you. I choose you, Leo. Always.”
You’re worth fighting for.

I just love second chance love stories, and this is one of the best I’ve ever read. It’s emotional, beautiful and moving. Leo and Evie are two amazing characters. If you loved Leo, this is even better than the first, and if you haven’t read Leo, give it a go! It’s a great book!

The ending was just amazing. Love these books. Can’t wait to read more from this author!

Even though this book was a retelling of 'Leo' from Leo's perspective, I found it to be highly enjoyable. Let's face it, if you've read 'Leo', then you know that these two had enough chemistry to fill several books! Reading Leo's version of events didn't feel redundant, like many alternate POV books do.

Hearing more details about exactly what he went through in his years apart from Evie was enlightening. I felt like the extra details that were provided in this book really helped complete the picture. Even though I loved the first book, there were many points in 'Leo' that I thought that Evie was a fool for believing his lies and I had a hard time swallowing his excuses and apologies.

After reading this book, I can see very easily how the one, unexpected lie he told when caught off-guard and thought up in the spur of the moment, could quickly spiral out of control. Knowing that he was digging himself deeper the longer the lie lived on, I can see why he couldn't just come clean.

My heart went out to Leo and I found myself hoping that things would work out for him all over again, even knowing how the story ended. If you're wanting a few more details about the super-sexy Leo, or just want to relive the passion of Evie and Leo, then this book will be right up your alley! It was great!

Kudos to Mia Sheridon for bring to life Leo's Chance, Leo's POV of the story Leo, in a manner that was amazingly fresh, unique, and insightful. Not once did I feel the author simply regurgitated the dialogue and narrative from Leo. In fact, I had to remind myself that this wasn't a new storyline but the same one only told from a different perspective. How UNUSUAL and AMAZING is that!!!

This book was far more enjoy for me than the original story. The prose felt sharper, the editing tighter, and the characters more fleshed out and multilayered. I became totally immersed in their world.

If you enjoyed Leo, you'll LOVE Leo's Chance.

It is hard for me to write a review for this book because if you haven't read the first book Leo, I really do not want to spoil it for you.

First I need to say that I am a sucker for male POV in any book, especially if the whole book is his POV!

I loved the first book and I really loved this one.
I love books about second chances, about traumatized pasts.
I love when main hero is keeping secrets, and they make him insecure. I also love when he is deliciously alpha. Although I must admit that when I read "Leo" I had a feeling he was more alpha there then in this sequel. Maybe because it's different to see it through women eyes.

THE STORY

"Something inside of me longed to tell my own story, the story of us, the story of how I destroyed everything beautiful that I ever had and then destroyed myself."

I have only one thing to say, you don't have to listen to me but if you want to read his POV, I would advise you to read "Leo" first because I think you should really read that book first. I think you should see the story from her eyes before you decide to enjoy in his delicious tortured mind.

description

JAKE MADSEN

I love that man, I seriously do. I just want to hug him all the time, when I don't want to jump him.
Everything he's been through, how that made him feel unworthy of anything, especially of Evie, just breaks my heart. How he wanted to escape from his life...

"Life felt like a burning building and the only thing I could think to do was jump. I was suffocating from where I was, the flames licking at me from every side. Death felt like it would provide the sweet, clean air that I couldn't access from the hell of the inferno I was trapped in. It didn't feel like an option – it felt like survival."

How he wants Evie to know all his secrets but is afraid he will only loose her if she knows the truth.

description

"And if she doesn't choose me?" My voice almost cracks but I pull it together."
........
"The right thing is not always the easiest thing."

The way he made their story forever on his skin... le sigh...

"And as the needle plunged in and out of my skin, I relished the pain. I deserved the pain. The physical pain made the emotional agony take a backseat and I finally felt a peace that day that I hadn't felt in a long time."

description

How every time when he thinks they will be happy something ruins it.

"Suddenly I am nothing more than pure anger, my brain filled with and controlled by a roiling tumor of fury. And it’s metastasizing by the minute, cells multiplying, spreading, and overtaking."

description

I really loved this story, I enjoyed seeing things through his eyes and why second chance of love started based on a lie.

photo Leos Chance - Mia Sheridan_zpsibfyjvis.png

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure to meet Leo and Evie's love story in Mia Sheridan's Leo. I loved every word of it so I wanted to read this book as well. I waited a little bit because I was afraid to read the same book again. However, I have to say that Mia Sheridan rocks because she is able to tell the same love story, from a different POV and still make you fall in love again with it.

My Evie, my heart, my savior. My lion tamer.

I will not repeat myself so maybe this will be a shorter review, guys. If you want to know what Leo and Evie's story is about you can go and check out my review of Leo HERE

I just wanted to mention that if you enjoyed Mia's debut novel and want to know more about Leo's story, this is your chance! In this novel, we know (from him) what happened while he and Evie were apart, how he dealt with it and how he falls in love with her all over again. It's beautiful, I really really enjoy Sheridan's writing, her characters and their amazing chemistry.

I love both, I need both – just one or the other doesn't add up to the complete person that he's become. My fierce, loyal man and my sweet, tender, protective boy. Both scarred, but both finally able to find the strength to accept that even life's worst experiences can be valuable gifts.

Actually, in Leo's Chance we have some extra content at the end which I really loved! We see a little bit more of Leo and Evie's love story, their future and how happy they are. It was really sweet and you all know I always enjoy having a longer epilogue! :)

"This is my favorite place in the world," I whisper in his ear.
He smiles and brings my arms up and around him. "This is my favorite place in the world," he says back, smiling.

Therefore, my rating for this novel is 5 STARS because I loved this love story all over again, from his POV and with a little bit more extras! All I can say is, again, if you read Leo and want to enjoy it (differently) give this book a try because I am quite sure you will not regret it! Mia Sheridan is THAT amazing. Totally recommend this!

The main question regarding this book being from Leo's POV is whether or not it's a rehash of the original story. And my answer would be yes...and no.

Yes, because there is a lot of rehashing with the exact, same dialog. And no - because it's so much more.

A lot happened to Leo that couldn't be explained in the first book. I think even if M.S. had written Leo as a dual POV, it wouldn't have had enough time to do him justice. There's just something enchanting about reading a story while getting the inside scoop.

description

However, that's not all there is...there are plenty of new tidbits that we didn't get in the first book. It makes for a more fuller developed character and story.

But... the most amazing parts are the ending and the extra epilogues! Everything that was missing is made whole again! You really don't want to miss this book just for those parts. All the "what happened to" are answered!

If you're read Leo and are hesitant to read this one, I would recommend it. You can skim the parts you already know and just enjoy the new parts (and the ending and epilogue!)

~"I'm a worthless coward who took what I wanted. And I wanted her, and I thought that was the only way I could keep her from leaving. I panicked and lied, and now…. I know I have to tell her but I'm so fucking scared.~

THIS IS LEO'S STORY…

This way my first time re-reading a story told from an alt Pov.
I wasn't sure what to expect, all I knew is that I fell in love with Mia's writing in Leo. When I went back and re-read my review from Leo and remembered all those feelings she made me feel, I couldn't wait to start this and be drawn back in.

How can a book, told from an alt POV  feel like a whole different story with the same characters?
In 'Leo' I fell in love with their story, I loved Evie. I loved her voice. I really truly believe it was her story to tell.
In 'Leo's Chance' those same scenes that I absolutely loved the 1st time around, didn't capture me the same way in Leo's voice. For me, they belonged to Evie.

HOWEVER…..

Being in Leo's head, Intense.

His past, his pain. I experienced it right along with him.
Those scenes, belonged to him. His story needed to be told.

I kept thinking, "I know I'm reading the same Author cause it's the same story, BUT what the hell? Where did that come from? How did she just do that to me?"
I wasn't expecting to have those emotions pulled from me. I read and re-read paragraph after paragraph of Leo's past.
My mind and soul were ripped apart and my body couldn't  keep up with the emotions Mia pulled from me.

 Deep.   Raw.   Amazing.   Heartbreaking.   Devastating.

What would you do for a second chance? How far would you go?

description

We start off with Leo in hospital, recovering from his accident. We are introduced to Dr. Fox, the hospitals psychologist.
Leo refuses to speak about any of the traumas he is recovering from. Feeling lost, broken and devastated. Dr Fox finally gets through and slowly Leo begins to open up.

~"You presumptuous bastard. You think you know me based on a few things you have written down on a fucking piece of paper? You think people can be summed up in a line or two on a clipboard? I'm not some 'poor little rich boy'!" I didn't grow up with more than a pot to piss in. I had just found out my brother was dead - a kid I practically raised. You don't know shit about my situation."~

The story is told at the same pace as "Leo" however we also get flashbacks of when Leo is recovering in hospital. Here we learn all about how he grew up and what he went through with his adoptive parents.

We see everything through his eyes, from when he first starts stalking Evie and seeing her for the 1st time again,

~It's the first time our eyes have met in eight years and I feel it in the depth of my soul, the moment seeming to stand still and shimmer around me.~

To the famous "Worlds Greatest Ice-cream" scene,

~She throws the ice cream in the cart, turns, and starts walking down the aisle as I stare after her. And that's it. If I wasn't before, I'm ruined for life. Hopelessly. In. Love. The girl is it for me. Yeah, ruined. Happily ruined, standing smack dab in the middle of the ice dream aisle.~

I loved being inside Leo's head for the 1st kiss.
It was sexy, sweet, hot.

description

~I dip my head and settle my mouth on hers. I sweep my tongue inside and as her tongue meet mine, I almost groan at the taste of her. Heaven. My heaven.~

I don't know about you guys, but for me reading a sex scene in a males POV is just so much more erotic.
Reading the fantasy sex scene in the shower… FREAKING HOT!!!!!

description

~I wipe the semen off the wall in front of me with my hand and I soap myself up one more time before standing under the spray for a few more minutes. I laugh quietly. Holy Shit, if I come that hard just from the fantasy of her, what's gonna happen to me if I ever really have her?~

But on top of all that we get the heartbreaking journey of Leo, finding his way back. You feel his pain, his despair, you heart hurts watching him hit bottom.

~ It takes daily diligence not to fall into the self-hatred trap. Disease can be deadly, and self-hatred is a disease, too. Secrets and shame can end a life just as easily as metastasising cells and viral takeover.~

While his body heals in hospital from his accident, Dr. Fox helps him heal his heart and soul.

I honestly no joke have NEVER EVER read a scene that has affected me so much.
I read and re-read and re-read over and over and every time still gives me the same emotion. I swear absolutely unforgettable.

~ Suddenly I am nothing more than pure anger, my brain filled with and controlled by a roiling tumour of fury. And it's metastasising by the minute, cells multiplying, spreading and overtaking.

"I hate her. I hate her. I hate her."

"Who do you hate?"  Dr. Fox's voice comes from directly behind me, still gentle and controlled.

"Stop asking me that! I told you! Aren't you fucking listening to me? My father! My mother! Lauren! I hate them all! I fucking hate them! Fuck! Fuck them all! Fuck them! I hate them!"  My voice cracks at the end and I'm breathing so hard that I feel like I might hyperventilate. A lifetime of built-up rage over selfishness that steals dignity and cruelty they preys on the weak is cursing through my veins, a fire looking to consume me from the inside out.

"Who do you hate, son?"~

It just didn't stop, I couldn't breathe, my mouth was dry.
I had to put it down, I had to breathe. My heart felt like it was torn from my chest.
Mia's words made me mourn.
Mourn for Leo, how he was wronged.
It was ugly and every word digs deeper into your soul.

description

~The rage begins to abate and just beyond it is the grief and I feel it coming at me like a wave. I'm powerless to fight it. All I can do is wait as it washes over me, drenching the fiery ball of anger, putting out that flame, but dragging me under, tossing me, flailing and defenceless against it's unrelenting power. It is bigger than the rage, bigger than the guilt and I can do nothing but submit to it.
I choke out, "Me! I hate me! I hate myself? I hate myself? I fucking hate myself? And now the tears are coming and I'm choking on my words and sputtering and punching and yelling.

"I fucking hate myself! I hate myself! Fuck! Fuck!" I hear myself sobbing and muttering.
"Why? Why? Why wasn't I enough? I'm worthless. Why did I do that? Why did I let her do that? Why did I do that? Why? Why?  I hate myself. I hate myself. I hate myself. I'm worthless. I hate myself."

"Who do you hate, Jake?" Dr Fox ask one final time.
"Me. I hate me," I say through panting, hitching breaths. "I hate me. Oh God. Oh God. Oh God. I hate me." ~

description

I can't even, No words.
EPIC, freaking EPIC scene.

And the Epilogue,
I cried in Leo's epilogue and Mia managed to do it to me again!

What a FREAKING BRILLIANT Epilogue…

~We had planned and dreamed and loved on that roof of ours. We didn't know that the journey that would finally bring us to our happily ever after would be full of detours and pitfalls and pain. We didn't know how much love and forgiveness and understanding would be required to make it back on the path we were meant to be on, together. but we id know was that we were here because we had both been willing to fight; to fight for each other, to fight for ourselves.

Despite all the pain that we had endured to be where we are, in the end, love won. ~

description
I can't even tell you who's side of the story I liked more.
It wasn't even about that. Both sides are essential in making sure we get every detail of this love story.
You can't have one with out the other.
You need to get into Leo's head. You need to know his side.

Mia Sheridan has an amazing talent.
There is nothing better than reading a line and feeling those words transform into pure emotion.
I'm in awe when Author can make me feel what I am reading, make me wanna go back and experience that feeling over and over.
It's a high for me, and I'm constantly trying to chase it to get my fix.
I'm in love with her style and I can't wait for more.

~ Jake is my lion, and Leo is my boy, I love both, I need both - Just one or the other doesn't add up to the complete person that he's become.~

First off, if you haven't read the first book, then don't read this review!! Okay, for those of you who have, you know what happens in the first book. It starts off with a flashback of Leo in the hospital after his accident and how a therapist, Dr. Fox, comes to visit him while he recovers. Dr. Fox slowly helps Leo move on from all the things that have caused him so much hurt. One being, never seeing Evie again, as well as what was done to him by his adoptive mother. I felt so bad for him. He was going through so much that he didn't know how to handle it. I felt worthless and anger, but most of all, he hated himself. I couldn't believe how much he blamed himself for what that disgusting woman was doing to him when it wasn't his fault. It really broke my heart.

In the present, he seeks Evie out but only stalking her first. It's not as creepy as it sounds. He doesn't know how she will recieve him after eight years of not seeing her and breaking his promise of returning on her eighteenth birthday. She is now twenty three and doing well for herself for someone who came out of the foster system like he did. I loved seeing everything through his eyes. I understood why he lied about being Jake and Leo dying. We got to see how much he hated doing it. He was insecure and even though what he did was wrong, I got why he did it. It all came back to him thinking of himself worthless and not wanting her to push him away. I loved the memories of their past and knowing all that he felt and still feels for Evie. It was really beautiful.

Leo totally messed up with his lie, but I couldn't help but fall in love with him. He was truly wonderful, an über HOT alpha, sweet, and loving. He made me swoon hard! He was such a great guy inside and out. Yes, he made mistakes and he wasn't perfect, but I'm so glad he made the right decision later on. I hated the abuse he suffered as young kid, and how no one showed him what love was until he Evie as kids. I was so happy that Dr. Fox came into his life. He ended up being a bit of a father figure to Leo, one that he desperately needed. Dr. Fox and Evie both showed him that he was worth loving and fighting for.

The big twist in the first book had me bawling in tears. And when that same scene came around again in this book, it felt as though I was reading it for the first time again, I couldn't stop the tears, even though I knew it was coming. That was awesome writing. I loved the ending so much. Again, I am so happy they got their second chance at love. The epilogue was wonderful. Totally different from the first book, so we got something new. I LOVED it! It was really heart warming. I adored Leo more than I thought was possible by reading his book. I really enjoyed it. If you loved the first one, you should definitely read this one.

Well, I finally (after two years) sat down and read this one! I am very glad that I did and am kicking myself in the butt as to why I waited so long for it! Actually, I am kind of patting myself on the back as to waiting, and the reason is that this book is in Leo's POV. Yes it is kind of the same story as the first one; (it was written in the heroine's POV) but seeing as I hadn't read the first one in years...this was a great reminder of the whole story in general. There were parts that I did remember; but there were a ton of details that I forgot as well!

I have decided that because I have really enjoyed two of Mia Sheridan's books...I need to get on board and read more of her work. Too many times I am whining that books aren't inspiring me lately, only to realize that there are really talented authors out there and why the heck don't I read their books. I will find an author I love, and then I go months without reading any of their work... Sometimes I think I need a hit in the head!!! So, I promised myself that I would load up more of her books on my Kindle, (and yes, I own most of her books already..LOL) and read them soon...Uh oh...I know I say that lots too!!! But really, I will...In the mean time....if this is a book that you haven't tried....definitely give it a whirl....you won't be sorry!

Emotions came slamming back, making it feel like it was only yesterday that I had kissed her on our roof, and told her to wait for me and that I would wait for her, come for her, love her forever. But I had failed.

With a name like Leo ~ I just wanted my typical alpha/caveman/more wild animal to come out. I was just breezing along and I realized that i was at 70 % in the book and I still wanted a lot to happen !!!! Grrrrrrr

If you've read Leo you know that there was a twist to the story. I think my problem was that I had already had too many light bulb moments so my reading pleasure was tainted. I hate when that happens. So in this book which was a re-telling from Leo's point of view ... I just kept looking more at " deception " and " white lies " and then I found myself skimming. I had to stop myself because I loved book one and this whole " I like your face " story .... I just wanted HUGE moments that would Trump book 1 and have me walking about shouting to the rooftops .... That I do NOT want this story to end ......

So that's what happened to me. So it's my own fault this fell a little flat. Damn inquiring mind that needs to know !!!! Leo's POV ..... ugggg... It was too sugary sweet! Here's some cavity producing quotes to gush over:

I'm ruined for life. Hopelessly. In. Love. This girl is it for me. Yeah, I'm ruined. Happily ruined.

No one ever came close to making me feel like Evie did. I was destined to compare every woman I met for the rest of my life to the girl who still owned my heart.

It slowly settles in my soul that neither one if us has been in love since each other. Something inside of me takes flight, soaring.

My Evie. My heart. My savior. My lion tamer

You are my dream. You are my every dream come true.

This is a DUDE talking ..... I'm going to need some F words soon. My teeth hurt from how sweet this one was!

Finally .... An F word

Let me make this a hundred and ten percent clear. "What I mean is, when I fuck you, you're going to be mine. Is that clear enough for you?"

**** Buddy read with Jess ~ what happened to our Leo !?!??????!!!

3.5 to 4 stars. Uggggg. I wanted to love it !

"Why are you looking at me?"
"Because I like your face."

Evie and Leo's story is heartwarming and beautifully written and I really enjoyed reading Leo's side of it. But I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I would have postponed reading it a while longer, because it hasn't been that long since I've read Leo (Sign of Love, #1) by Mia Sheridan and I already knew pretty much everything that was going to happen. Still, I always enjoy reading a male POV, even if there aren't that many new scenes or surprises, and reading Leo's POV was no exception. Reading his side of the story made me love him even more ♥♥♥

… “My lion tamer, my Evie, my love.”

Leo’s Chance is a follow up to Leo and while I loved the first book, I’m so glad to get Leo’s perspective! It grabbed me from the get go and is so much more than what I initially thought. I became totally immersed and didn’t want to stop until finished.

Experiencing this romance through Leo’s voice conveyed a deeper, more emotional aspect to his and Evie’s relationship. Both have endured a painful past while living in foster care and they share a unique bond. What Leo endured after he left to begin a new life with his adoptive parents as well as all that he had to overcome made his journey back even more special. His love for Evie is his driving force. The chemistry and passion are palpable.

Leo’s Chance is an absorbing, emotional, passionate love story and includes one of the best epilogues I’ve read. Even knowing what to expect, I still felt the full impact of each revelation…and I loved it all!

I’m cleaning out some of my older books. I think I read this while I read Leo but never left a review/rating. I wouldn’t recommend reading them together because you’ll ruin a major twist in the first book. (although I thought it was pretty obvious)

This doesn’t really add much to the original story. It basically follows the same events just from Leo’s POV. The format is the same with lots of flashbacks from Leo’s past.

Bottom Line- Ok, If you enjoyed Leo, you’ll probably enjoy this one. For me, it made me much more sympathetic and shed light on why he kept so many secrets. It also helped to see he was all in/completely besotted.

Trigger Warning-

description

She walks around to my front now and takes my chin in her shaking hand, lifting my face so that I’m forced to look into her pain-filled eyes.

"Why are you looking at me?" she asks, void of any expression in her voice, but her eyes wild with panic.

My eyes search hers for long seconds, looking for anything resembling love or understanding, but finding none.

I know what she wants from me though and so I give it to her. "Because I like your face."

Leo'nun doktorla konuştuğu ve özellikle "Me! I hate me! I hate myself! I hate myself! I fucking hate myself!" dediği kısımda Afrika'ya yetecek kadar yaş gelmiştir gözlerimden... burası çok başkaydı.

anası... o ana görünümlü sinsi yılanın başına gelenlere zerre üzülmedim. babası yerine o kadın ölmeliydi ve Leo babasıyla kaybettiklerini yerine koyabilmeliydi desem çok mu acımasız olurum?

Gwen'in ağzının payını aldığı kısımda da elime Mustafa Keser'in pullu mendillerinden alıp halaya tutuştum kendi kendime zira o bölüm bunu hak ediyordu 😂

bazen böyle beğendiğim kitapları anlatırken tıkanıyorum işte 🙊 ilk kitaptan daha fazla sevmiş olabilirim bu kitabı. yazarın kalemini de çok sevdim. kesinlikle okumaya devam edeceğim kitaplarını. tüm yıldızları hak ediyor 👌

3 1/2 Stars!

This was a good story, but you absolutely must read Leo first or you will have no idea what is going on. I read it several months before reading this one and I wish I had read them back to back. I think I would have enjoyed this one more because I couldn't remember all the details from Leo. Of course this is the story of Leo and Evie from Leo's POV. In my opinion it is much sadder than the first book because you know all the whys behind their separation from the beginning. I enjoyed this book, but I don't feel it was necessary or that it really added that much more to the story. So, you can skip it or go with it. Either way it was enjoyable. Happy reading!

Finished "Leo's Chance" 3 days ago and I still get misty when I think about this book. It was beautifully written. This is a very emotional story about two children, who are lost souls, that share an innocent love for one another. Their paths in life separate them only to reunite and fall in love once again.

Props to Mia Sheridan for doing what other popular authors have failed. She has successfully re-told a story from an alternate POV in a way that is refreshing & new. Break out the tissues for this book....it is a must read.

This book is a companion novel to Leo – it’s essentially the same story, but from the hero perspective. I admit that when this book came out, I wasn’t all that excited to read it. I was happy with Leo and didn’t feel like I needed an additional story, but I picked this one up on a whim, and OMG, I loved it! Maybe even more than the first!

The storyline of Leo has a twist to it, and in this book the expectation is that you know that twist right from the beginning, so make sure you have read the first book before even attempting this one! So there’s nothing I can say without spoiling Leo for you, so if you haven’t read it, please don’t read this review any further.

For those who have read Leo, you’ll be happy to know that this isn’t just a straight retelling of the original story. Obviously some scenes are repeated, but with the switch in perspective everything has a different slant on it and this book showed me everything I wanted to know - .

I’m going to show her how deep my feelings are for her and make her trust down her soul that I want to take care of her. Because I do. And then when I tell her who I am she’ll know we can be together.

Leo and Evie shared a difficult childhood. Both in the foster system, they were treated terribly, but they found comfort and happiness together and even at their young age, they fell in love. Leo was adopted when he was 15 and promised to come back for Evie when she turned 18, but he never returned. Now it’s been 8 years since they’ve seen each other, Leo has been through hell and come out on the other side, and he’s finally ready to face his past and claim the girl he’s never forgotten.

I didn’t know it was possible to hold your breath for eight years, but apparently, it is.

God, I loved seeing these two together! I know I’ve seen it all before but they are amazing together! They have overcome so much to get where they are and they are both so well adjusted considering all they have been through. They are fantastic as individual characters but together they just shine! Things progress quickly but realistically between them, and they are so functional! They don’t hold their feelings back from each other, and they don’t let their past difficulties dictate what’s happening between them. There’s no stupid, no game playing, they just accept what’s developing between them and they go with it. Their feelings for each other are intense and their relationship is a very emotional one, but they also have fun together, they tease and they play, and the sweet little gestures are just gorgeous. It’s all very special.

If I wasn’t before, I’m ruined for life. Hopelessly. In. Love. The girl is it for me. Yeah, ruined. Happily ruined, standing smack dab in the middle of the ice cream aisle.

I loved seeing the depth of Leo’s love for Evie, his complete and utter adoration of her, and his commitment to making her life better and building a future for them. He is one swoontastic man-in-love, and his protectiveness of his girl, and his unquestionable loyalty and devotion to her is beautiful!

"You are my dream," I whisper to her in the dark. "You are my every dream come true."

And OMG, the love scenes from his POV were swelteringly hot! There’s lots of them, and they are descriptive, but they are also incredibly emotional, with Leo’s heart already well and truly gone by the time they reach that point in their relationship, and I thought they were really well written.

How did I doubt it would always be this way? Then, now, a million lifetimes from this one. My Evie, my heart, my lion tamer.

But more than just being a heart-warming romance, this book is Leo’s story, showing us all of the different sides that make up this amazing man. We see flashbacks to his past, as well as all of the other things that he is dealing with while he is trying to concentrate on his reconnection with Evie. There’s no doubt that life has treated him unfairly and he’s been through hell, but he has risen above it and he is just a guy following his heart and trying to make amends, and that is beautiful to see.

“I realize now that there are a lot of paths in life. Some we choose and some are chosen for us. I was dealt some shit, just like a lot of us are, and I made a lot of poor choices too. I have to take responsibility for those. But the only thing we'll get from trying to figure out where another path would have taken us are questions there are no answers to, and heartbreak that can't be healed. Regardless of how we got there, all any of us can do is move forward from where we are.”

But there are secrets and surprises, and even though I knew it was coming, I still felt that big moment, and my heart squeezed with joy at their happy ending. And then there is an epilogue from Evie’s POV which takes us further into the future so we get a chance to see how everything works out for them, and it was so, so gorgeous!

I loved this book. I’m so happy that I decided to pick it up, and recommend it as a wonderful companion to the first book.

This book is really good, but I enjoyed Leo way more :( ..
I think the reason I liked Leo more was because I read this book just a couple of days after reading Leo and it felt like I was re-reading Leo, therefore I got bored at some points..
So I believe if I have read it after a long time from now, I would have enjoyed it more :( 💔..
I loved that Sea snail story he told her, it had so many meanings❤..
At first, I wanted to read this book before Leo.. But, now that I have read it, I think its way better to read Leo first :D..
A lovely book❤..

Evet, bir fikrim var. "Onun" hayatı oldukça hızlı bir şekilde boka batmıştı ve sekiz yıl boyunca ölmeyi dileyerek yaşadı. Ama seni sevmekten asla vazgeçmedi. Bir an bile.
"Üzgünüm. Bilmiyorum."

Gitte: So, how excited were we Jenny, to finally get to hear Leo’s voice on what happened to him; the strength of his feelings, his emotions and life during the missing years. Also, his reaction when he sees Evie again eight years later. It truly was an emotional and heart-breaking journey.

“Emotions came slamming back, making it feel like it was only yesterday that I had kissed her on our roof, and told her to wait for me and that I would wait for her, love her forever. But I had failed.”

I loved Leo already but this instalment just made me love him even more. Yes a lot of the story is repeated from Leo’s POV which surprised me slightly. However, we do get an insight, through flashbacks, into his life with his adoptive parents, his struggles and how he faced them with the help of the amazing Dr. Fox.

And wow the epilogue told by Evie rocked, I cried! Second chance love is always sweet though isn’t it…?

The moment they meet again….in his voice. I felt every single word as he struggled on the inside; the moment so big and so touching. So overwhelming.

“My heart starts beating faster. I can’t mess this up. I’ve come so far and now the only girl I’ve ever loved is right in front of me. And she might hate my fucking guts.”

If there was ever any doubt in book #1 about Leo’s love for Evie, then hearing his voice express just how deep his love for her runs, and has done, since they were kids….Well….the strength of his emotions are so intense and real they’ll make your heart melt.

“My Evie, my heart, my savior. My lion tamer.”

“You are my dream.”

“My Evie. So sweet. My Evie. Mine.”

I do love Mia’s writing style, it’s flawless and sweeps you up and carries you through the story in an addictive flow. I want to stress though that you do need to read Leo first before moving onto Leo’s Chance.

“I choose you. I choose you, Leo. Always.”

What did you think Jenny?

Jenny: Gitte, we were certainly over the moon when we heard this book was in the works. I was so looking forward to hearing from Leo himself and was hoping he would fill in the missing blanks from Evie’s story and Mia Sheridan didn’t disappoint in that regard. This author made us feel everything Leo went through.

“I didn’t know it was possible to hold your breath for eight years, but apparently, it is.”

Leo’s voice certainly exposed the pain, loss and heartache he endured in those missing years and you really did get to experience the despair he felt over leaving Evie. It was beautifully handled and I devoured every moment.

Their first meeting. I held my breath. Even though I knew what to expect, that first meeting just took my breath away. I felt the yearning, the want in Leo’s voice as he restrained himself from being close to Evie.

“After years and years of pining for her so intensely, she was right in front of me, and yet she was still a thousand miles away.”

Whilst yes, I did find a few of the interactions a bit repetitive from the previous book, there was plenty of substance in Leo’s Chance to allow the reader experience a new journey of sorts.

The scenes between Leo and Evie, whilst we did know what to expect, nonetheless they felt new and raw hearing them from Leo’s perspective. It did bring a new level of emotion to the story that’s for sure. Did it still knock you for six Gitte despite knowing what the reveals would be?

“It’s as if all my emotions for her are in living color now and coursing through my body at light speed. I’m home.”

Gitte: I have to say that even though I knew the ‘reveals’ and twists from book #1, many of them have stayed with me so they still had such an impact. The scene I was most waiting for was ‘the tattoo scene’, I wanted to know how, why and what Leo felt and I inhaled every word. To me, this is one of the most emotional and poignant moment from their time apart.

“And as the needle plunged in and out of my skin, I relished the pain. I deserved the pain. The physical pain made the emotional agony take a backseat and I finally felt a peace that day that I hadn’t felt in a long time.”

The ‘Who do you hate?’ scene with Dr. Fox blew my mind; I got goose bumps and felt every bit of the emotion that literally rolled off the pages. It was utterly heart-breaking and incredibly tense and emotional.

“We all deserve a second chance, don’t we?”

“You’re worth fighting for.”

Leo’s Chance truly was a powerful, raw and heart breaking ride yet the hope, love and passion shone through it.

“Despite all the pain that we had endured to be where we are, in the end, love won.”

Jenny: The scenes with Dr Fox were so insightful, so powerful and so heartbreaking. This was written extremely well allowed to experience so much of what made Leo tick. Oh Gitte, the “who do you hate?” scene. My god, every word and every emotion was felt completely in that scene and seemed to come from somewhere so deep. Honestly, I held my breath and had to have a moment. One of the most powerful and devastating scenes I’ve read. That scene absolutely packed a punch and the feelings it solicited within me were incomparable.

“She is my air, my reason for existence, the only thing that matters to me in this life or any other.”

Yes, Leo’s Chance did contain a bit of repetition from Leo but it most certainly did not drag this book down at all as the flashbacks we got from Leo through past experiences and the raw emotion felt from him when he met up with Evie, together with the intensity of his feelings managed to bring the reader something new in this very moving account of Leo’s life.

“..the risk of looking like a fool is a hell of a lot better than living with regret.”

This book is a must for readers who loved Leo.

“That look will forever be etched into my soul. That is the look of my Evie surviving.”

Leo’s Chance – Mia Sheridan

5 stars!!

Just a reminder that this is Leo (Mia’s first book in this series) told from Leo’s POV, so therefore you need to have read this first for this book to have any meaning. Leo was always going to be a hard act to follow as it was a gorgeous book, but Mia outdid herself with this one. I always thought it would be extremely difficult for a woman to write a man’s POV and some authors have tried and miserably failed, but this author is not one of them.

Just like the first book, the writing style pulled you in and the writing just flowed and flowed, it is very easy to read. Even though I knew what was going to happen it did not detract from the story as you were seeing it through a totally different perspective. I loved the way that the book went from past to present, it helped a great deal in understanding Leo, I don’t think that anybody truly appreciated what he went through in Leo, but this book brings it all out into the open all the good, bad and the ugly and it could get pretty ugly.

Leo had gone through a lot of abuse at the hands of his step mother and he had internalized a lot of the blame for this. He somehow felt that it was his fault and he should harbour some of the guilt because of the way his body had reacted to her. His shrink in the hospital was amazing and such a fab character and I was so glad that he had managed to try and break through Leo’s walls to get him to understand how his step mother had operated. It was also really good to read how he had ensured he did not taint his step fathers memory and had thrown himself 100% into the company as a way of trying to make up for all the wrongs he perceived he had made. I believe deep down he knew that his step father had shouldered a lot of guilt for what happened to Leo and that is probably what ultimately caused his demise.

I loved the way that Mia Sheridan managed to make me love Leo even more than I did before. He was always her protector and yet we never truly appreciated the depth of his feelings. The mental torture he puts himself through in this book, trying to weigh up the pros and cons of what he is doing, whether it was fair on Evie what he was doing. Agonising over revealing his true identity, the love he had for her that just oozed out of the pages. I was anxiously awaiting the tattoo reveal and was dreading it, especially knowing what was going to happen…but his torment was crushing…you could tell he truly loved her and it was heart breaking to read. I loved the way we were also shown his agony when he first moved away and the reasons behind him not keeping in touch, it helped to understand so much better.

I am a sucker for an epilogue and this book did not disappoint, I was soooo happy, and we got extra scenes. The epilogue was told from Evie’s POV which was a lovely touch. I loved that the steam level in this book was hotter than the first, this really added to the intensity of Leo’s feelings. Reliving the popping of the V was emotional especially when he realised she had saved herself for him.

All in all I love this series and this was a brilliant addition and I am so glad that we got to experience this story from both sides of the coin.

Loved it!!

yeah.

still I cant believe how she cant recognised him.

second, i cant believe why he was not jealous of himself. he should have been jealous of himself. he should think himself as "she just forgot about me and now making sex with me and loving me. i hate myself, i hate him and i hate her." or something like that. he should have been jealous of not-being-Leo but being-Jake.

JUST THINK FOR A SECOND, THAT WOULD BE GREAT TO READ, THE JEALOUS WORDS FROM LEO'S BROKEN HEART HOLY FUCK. (if I remember correctly he think something like that but not as same as mine.)
And idk why i had not been talk about this at first book’s review. ilginç…

normalde, im telling again IF SOMEONE ELSE WROTE THIS I WOULD GIVE 2 STARS. But we’r talking about MIA, oh ma gosh Leo, my i-can-not-find-the-true-words-for-you man! I just died, Geberdim. Kahroldum. im not gonna talk about mia again and again. Just, insomuch that she writes perfect, flaws becoming flawless. And this is what happenned this book, this is what is Leo. that's WHY I GAVE 4 STARS BUT NOT 2.

u know all about the story from first book, im not getting in again. But allaseniz, it must be like this what we call POV. Oh lords, that was so beautiful. As if i read a different, quite another, disparate book! While im reading I get excited, I freaked out, I cried, I was like "FUCK no no no shit NO!" whereas I already knew whole book! I knew what's gonna happen! that's what Mom Mia's pen is, bitches!

And like always she did, making you break into a million pieces, in there coming as "the willow house project". (for example "human traffic" in stinger) she is trying to get attention something, not only using in there fiction. She is pointing out, saying 'hey look at that'. Now tell me how u can not love her?

Leeeeeeoooooohhhmygooood.

The things he said outside but the fucking things actually want to say outside but saying inside.
Mesela mesela:

“You are stunning.” I'm not sure if I want to take you out in public in that.

“Tomorrow night?” Every night for the rest of ur life?

“Yup. Knew it the first time I kissed you.” On our roof, eight years ago.

the things he said inside...

This is what I needed all along. I was dying for Leo’s POV more, and I actually loved this one more than Leo. You have to read Leo first before you read Leo’s Chance due to all kinds of spoilers that really make the book! Two friends that grow up in Foster care, and pledge their love for each other sealing it with a kiss...vowing to wait for each other. Fast forward 8 years! What in the world has happened. Mia brings it all in this book, but especially the heat. That’s all I will say due to spoilers. Read Leo, and then Leo’s Chance. <3

IF YOU HAVEN'T READ LEO, DON'T READ LEO'S CHANCE.

IF YOU HAVE READ LEO, THEN YOU'RE IN FOR A TREAT!

Leo's Chance is Leo's story told from his POV. It might seem redundant and although there were definitely areas that were, there was also enough new stuff and revelations added in that prevented boring you out of reading the same book twice.

I LOVED Leo, the book. And the character! But the book is on my fav's of 2013 and therefore reading this was a no-brainer. So despite some repitition I fell in love with Leo all over again because it was amazing seeing things through his eyes. He is a pained and tortured soul that can't accept he is worthy of love. Seeing him doubt himself and his convictions was heartbreaking. I can't emphasize how much I loved him.

The story went between present and past with hospital flashbacks after his car accident. A fateful thing that allowed him to look at his life and re-examine what was once paramount to him. Through the help of his psychologist, Dr. Fox, he comes to truly understand himself and turn a new leaf.

Of course the present is where we see Evie again and re-live the beautiful moments that made up the original book and added to the depth of this one. As was the case with Leo, I loved Evie. She was one of those characters that truly deserved the praise others showered her with. You saw that she was kind and considerate, sweet and intelligent, empathetic and forgiving. Sometimes when reading about other heroines I wonder what the hoopla is all about, but not with Evie.

The story of Leo and Evie is beautiful and sweet and despite re-visiting the same situations, it was still nice to see Leo's POV and be treated to some new material. The epilogue was beautiful and re-affirmed why I love this couple so much!

Beautiful book, wonderful characters, bittersweet, heartfelt story!

I loved it...BUT - I'm not a huge fan of alternate POV books :/
I loved the scenes with Leo's Dr. Fox... and that we got hear a bit about his past ... it could've been a bit more though...BUT - I still loved it - it was a nice addition to the first book!

In Leo's Chance it's in Leo's pov. I loved Leo. It was such a good book, Leo's Chance is just as good but I think even better because its from jake aka Leo's p.o.v.
