Companion to "Unbreakable" -- Landon's story

**This book is a Contemporary Romance and contains mature subject matter. It is not intended for those under 17 years of age.**

I’ve found it’s easier to share my body but not my soul. I need no one, yet I crave her.

Self-assured and independent, she doesn’t need me—but she wants me, and undeniably I want her too. At war with myself as I battle the secrets of my past, I don’t know if I can allow her to see the darkest parts of me, the parts I’ve left untouched—undone.

As she chips away at the walls I’ve built for years, I fear those secrets will hold me hostage from love—forever.

Undone is the second book in Rebecca Shea’s Unbreakable series. Although we first met Landon back in book one, Unbreakable, this one works perfectly well as a standalone and it’s not necessary to have read Unbreakable first. Although, I can highly recommend it as an excellent read!

Undone is Landon’s story – he’s the highly delicious, inked cop that we first met back in Unbreakable, Jess’s story. I got the impression that he was only meant to be a background character but somehow he just developed a life of his own and I knew I was left wanting his story after reading Unbreakable. There’s just a few hints, a few little teasers about his traumatic past and his intense loneliness to leave me wanting more and I’m so glad that we finally now have his story.

Landon works had as a cop with his partner, Matt. He has ambitions to work as a detective and he plays as hard as he works. He goes through women like a hot knife through butter, never sleeping with the same one twice and certainly never allowing them to kiss him on the lips. He’s a total manwhore but it’s plain to see that this seemingly tough, singular man is in fact burying his emotional pain in one casual one night stand after another. He believes that seeing a woman more than once will just complicate things, he feels nothing for them and never emotionally connects with them. That is until he meets Reagan!

I don’t know what the fuck just happened, but I think I may have my hands full with this woman—and for the first time ever, I think I’m ready.

Reagan, although actually an OB/GYN doc is working a couple of shifts in her Uncle’s bar when Landon and Matt are called to a disturbance there and Landon takes one look and he knows he has to have her. BUT, he finds he likes her a little too much to just take her home for one night and discard her and they start to develop a beautiful friendship.

I so enjoyed this dysfunctional couple – Reagan, at first appearances, seems to be feisty and confident but getting to know her better reveals her vulnerability and insecurities. She’s also has sadness in her past causing her to be mistrustful and wary of being let down but the darkness in her past pales in comparison to Landon’s.

Landon has another very important relationship in his life – with his younger sister Lindsay. They have shared an awful childhood of abuse and abandonment and Landon is and always has been fiercely protective of her. They have a beautiful relationship which really does show that Landon is capable of love, whatever he may think. But, their past is just awful. Landon is really quite cagey about this, and only slowly reveals the full extent of it to Reagan but, when he does, it’s incredibly emotional. Nobody should have to endure what they endured and it really did make my eyes well up – these two kids really did seem to have been abandoned by society, by the community around them and Landon is so damaged by his experienced, it made my heart hurt. No wonder he is mistrustful of fully connecting to someone, fully trusting them and allowing them in – he’s terrified of the pain of abandonment and won’t allow anyone one close enough to hurt him like that again.

Of course, Landon’s rules about only sleeping with a woman once and Reagan’s refusal to sleep with him on a first date leads to a very angsty journey for these two. I’m never happier than when an author is heaping misery and angst on our central characters and Rebecca Shea does this so well. They develop a beautiful friendship and genuine feelings for one another but are so very scared to take the next step – Reagan because she fears Landon will just walk away from her and Landon because he is scared of his developing feelings for her.

“I’m going to break my rules for you, Reagan,” I whisper in her ear. “Rule number one. I never fuck the same woman twice. Rule number two. I don’t kiss women,” I say, pressing a gentle kiss to the side of her cheek. I turn her around gently by the shoulders, positioning her in front of me. With the tilt of her chin, I kiss her. Softly and gently, I kiss her, succumbing to the feel of her soft lips on mine.

This was yet another emotionally intense and very sexy romance from Rebecca Shea proving that Unbreakable was no fluke, no flash in the pan. With Undone, she’s showing everyone that she’s a force to be reckoned within the romance genre and she definitely proves her mettle with this one. It’s a soulful, compelling read that really did have me turning the pages at an incredible rate – I just had to know what was going to happen next, what was around the corner for this couple. I rooted for them, so desperately wanted them to shed those cast-iron emotional defences, especially Landon, and just wake up and see what they have, what they share and grasp the happiness they both so richly deserve and just run with it.

 photo undonequote_zps10958614.jpg

This is a powerful story of love and how that love can heal and save an apparently broken man. Landon’s story will make your heart hurt as the full atrocity of his past is fully unveiled and Reagan’s willingness to fight for him, to stand by him really does mend his broken heart. It’s a beautiful thing. Of course, there’s plenty of ups and downs for this couple throughout the novel and a couple of real shocking, dramatic moments – just the way I like it. It’s a page-turner and it’s another heartbreaking romance from Rebecca Shea!

Landon was first introduced in the first book of the Unbreakable series, Unbreakable, where he becomes friends with Jess, the heroine, and helps her heal and mend herself back together again. I was sad for Landon at the end of Unbreakable but very happy to find out he was getting his own story. You can read both Unbreakable and Undone as a stand-alone. However, I personally think reading these books in order is a better reading experience. This story is told from both Landon and Reagan’s POV.

Landon, our sexy and confident yet broken and complicated hero, works as a cop with his partner and best friend, Matt, in North Carolina. His goal is to work his way up to become a detective. He works hard and plays even harder. He loves women but he never sleeps with a woman more than once, never letting them kiss him, and definitely never making any emotional connection to them. Landon is a damaged, untrustful, emotional mess because of the horrible things he endured growing up.

Besides Matt, his sister Lindsay is the only other person in his life he loves and trusts the most. He would do anything for her. They've only had each other for years and the bond they share is fiercely strong. I love these two. They made me laugh and smile and even cry. And I love how Lindsay is the voice of reason for Landon when he needs someone to keep him in line.

But things change in one moment when Landon and Matt are sent out on a call to a bar called Mac’s where Landon sees a beautiful woman working as a waitress. The moment he saw her he was immediately drawn to her and he knew he must go back to the bar to meet this woman who makes his head spin with lust and desire.

Something in the pit of my stomach is telling me this girl is dangerous-she's beautiful, confident, and smart-a dangerous combination.- Landon

Reagan, our beautiful, feisty, and compassionate yet vulnerable heroine, works part-time at her uncle’s bar part-time, but she’s actually an OB/GYN doctor. Upon meeting Landon for the first time, she resists giving him her number or going out with him. We learn later it’s because Reagan has been badly hurt by someone in the past and she's just not ready to date anyone. She proves to be challenge for Landon but he's persistent and ends up talking her into to having a breakfast date with him the next day.

As they get to know one another, Reagan learns of Landon's rules about women. She refuses to be another notch on his bed post. So, even with the fiery and lusty chemistry between them, they both agree to be just friends. And end up developing a beautiful friendship with strong feelings towards each other. But they can't stop 'things' from happening between them. And Landon ends up breaking all his rules for Reagan, wanting and craving to be with her all the time.

Reagan and Landon’s journey is not an easy one. They both have dark secrets that make them afraid to love and trust. The things both of them went through in their lives are heart breaking. However, what Landon suffered growing up was more than just heart breaking is was soul-crushing. Landon struggles emotionally to let Reagan in for a good portion of the story. But meeting Reagan was exactly what he needed in his life to mend his wounded soul and find happiness. And I loved Reagan's willingness to never give up on Landon, even when he tries to push her away.

“Let me love you, let me care for you - let me love you.” - Lindsay

Even with the darker themes of this story, there is also a lot sweet and fun times. There is some great banter between them that made me smile and laugh. They also have such great sexual chemistry together, which made for some incredibly hot sexy times. Landon has a dominant side to him that got me all hot and bothered as these two burned up the sheets.

While I think this is a solid story, the amount of drama made the storyline feel busy and, at times, over-the-top. Plus, the inner dialogue felt a bit repetitive. But, with that said, the emotional connection between these two was enough oomph for me to really enjoy the book.

Landon and Reagan’s love story is good one - but it certainly was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster as they struggle with love, emotional turmoil, secrets, and forgiveness. I rooted for this couple the entire way, especially as Rebecca Shea kept throwing big obstacles, making their happy ending something they must fight hard for. This author has a great writing voice and I’m looking forward to reading Lindsay’s story next in Unforgiven.

~Four Loving Landon Stars~

What a journey this book will take you on! We met Landon in Unbreakable and this is his story. He is a cop in North Carolina and an emotionally tortured one at that. He has been through so much and we certainly get to see inside him, feel for him and fall in love with him while reading this book.

It's just him and his sister, Lyndsay, and even though she is all grown up, there is nothing he won't do for her. The bond they share as brother and sister is amazingly strong. I enjoyed and admired both of them. They made me laugh and they certainly made me cry.

Landon is the type of guy that doesn't do relationships and there is a very strong reason for this, fear of abandonment, plain and simple.

"Yeah, better to leave than to be left. Better not to get attached," he admits quietly.

He has major rules that he won't break for anyone, until he meets Reagan.

Something in the pit of my stomach is telling me this girl is dangerous-she's beautiful, confident, and smart-a dangerous combination.

Reagan you see, is a beautiful doctor and what I consider a great challenge for Landon. As the two of them start to spend more time together they learn some things about one another and you can just feel that these two are meant to be together BUT not without some major obstacles that they will each face, together and on their own. I won't lie, my heart broke for them, more than once!!

Will Reagan be Landon's undoing and will she be able to get through to him. Will Landon be able to share is emotional past and pain with Reagan? What obstacles do they face and what will be the outcome? I truly loved their story and the underlying messages the author portrayed in this book and I highly recommend you read it for yourself.

There were a couple of things, for me, that kept it from receiving five stars, but nothing that would or should deter you from reading it. There was a small amount of repetition (just something I happen to notice and you may not) and I wish it was longer (a good thing) so see nothing bad :0) Go get your copy!!

Thank you Rebecca Shea for sharing Landon, Lyndsay and Reagan with me and I look forward to reading your other books!!

In my opinion you don't need to read Unbreakable first but I recommend you read it because is was a great story too.

I had the honor of helping Rebecca proof Undone and I absolutely loved it! And I loved Landon!! We met Landon in Book 1, Unbreakable, and this is his story.
I must admit I was sad when Unbreakable ended. I really loved Gabe and didn’t think I could love Landon as much. Damn was I wrong. I fell hard for Landon in Undone.

Landon doesn’t do relationships and he’s an a-hole. But he’s a hot, lovable a-hole. And he isn’t really all he seems. And when you find out why he is the way he is, your heart will break and melt for him at the same time. I totally fell in love with him and you will too. Reagan, the female lead character in Undone, is a fabulous character. She has her own issues too. But I loved everything about her. And I loved their story and seeing how they helped each other trust and love.

And the moment you read where the title comes from and fits in. Sigh. I absolutely LOVED it!

Rebecca’s writing will suck you in and you won’t want to put Undone down. There’s romance, sex, angst, wow moments and so much more. Rebecca’s writing makes me smile as I read- something that I love.
Undone is a definite must read!! Lindsay and Matt’s story is up next in the series and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for them! Well done Rebecca!

Heat Factor – SIZZLING HOT!
Drama- Page Turner
Laughs- There were some laughs
Tears- Yes! But I knew there would be, Landon is complex and I felt that.
Suspense – Some
I was over the moon, pee my pants excited that Landon was getting his own story, when Rebecca told me I think I almost sobbed in relief, this BBF was left gutted in Unbreakable even if he did try to hide it.
I just wanted to see him have the love of his life fix him and make him all better.
Enter Reagan, what a fire cracker I LOVED this chick! She is strong and sassy and puts Landon on his bum. Doesn’t take crap from anyone.
These to have SIZZLING HOT CHEMISTRY, I think my iPad almost melted. But the story line is so well written and well-paced it all works perfectly.
This romance has everything I want to read in a story.
Perfect from start to finish, Rebecca has done a fantastic job following up with Landon’s story!
Thank you for giving us his story Rebecca

I hate when this happens -- the first book in a new series reins you in and you really fall for the characters and then comes the second book and it just loses the pull of the first.

I really liked Landon in "Unbreakable" -- even feeling a little bit sorry for him. When I learned he was getting his own story, I thought he would bring an "A game" to the table. However, even with the cruelty and hardships in his life, I didn't feel the story had much depth. And I really didn't connect with Reagan. And then again, maybe I just felt the story was same old-same old and nothing really jumped out and grabbed me. Reagan's character needed some fleshing out -- there was just not enough background on her.

There was some unbelievability issues for me as well. A missing person living in the same town for years -- and one family is completely in the dark, while another identifies with it all. Maybe it would be easier to believe if these characters weren't in the positions they held in the community businesswise and socially. Just seemed a bit strange to me.

I'll probably finish out the series with Lindsay and Matt's story -- but only because I'm 2/3 into this one.

I enjoyed this story a lot. I do feel like the Landon from Unbreakable was different from this Landon though. And I think a lot was just not said. Like, I wish the characters from the first book were intertwined more. I would have loved to hear more from Gabe and Jessica! Especially since it seemed like Jessica is the one who opened Landon's heart in the first place. But besides a few sentences, we never hear about them again. I get it, it's Landon and Reagan's story but I just miss them lol.

Reagan is so sweet and perfect for Landon. Even though Landon kept pushing her away, she kept coming back. They are perfect for each other! I just hope they are in Lindsay's book! :D

ARC received for Honest Review

I first met Landon Christianson in "Unbreakable" and I put my hands up because I really did get this guy so horribly wrong. I just didn't take to him straight away, in fact I really didn't like him at all but that was more to do with where he fit into the bigger picture as opposed to the person he was. Lucky Landon though because my feelings most definitely thawed the more I got to know him and I even had a lump in my throat reading the tale end of "Unbreakable" because this man made one hell of a sacrifice. One I truly didn't expect and at that moment, I think he took a little piece of my heart.

So when I found out Landon was getting his own book, I jumped for joy because I really wanted more of this man, more of his story. I wanted in on whatever his was hiding, whatever demons were clawing at his back preventing him from committing to anyone, preventing him from loving anyone or allowing anyone to love him.

"Undone" was a beautiful, yet emotional story about one man's fight with the past, one man's fear of abandonment and one man's desperate need for self preservation. Right from the outset, Landon was a commitment phoebe. No one ever got close to him but that was because he chose to have it that way. There were rules and he stuck to them like glue:
"Rule number one. I never fuck the same woman twice. Rule number two. I don't kiss women."

OK so I'll admit there were a couple of times I thought he was a bit of ass hole (I mean getting a woman's name wrong... really?!?!) but the more I found out about Landon's past, the more forgiving I became of his character. Plus he was hot as hell. I mean he had the looks, the body, the tattoo's and holy hell he had a uniform... oh yes this one was a man of the law, handcuffs and all!!!! (woo hoo).

Well let's just say Landon met his match when he crossed paths with Reagan because this was a woman who knew exactly what she wanted out of life and would settle for nothing less, earning her the utmost respect from me because that takes guts. With a haunted past of her own, she was cautious but the chemistry was undeniable, it was palpable, the heat radiating off the pages. I was dying for them to just get it on but they were at a cross roads.. Landon was very open about his rules and Reagan, well she was after something more.
"I like him , a lot. I really do- but I'm thirty-one years old.I'm past friends with benefits and one night stands."

And so a platonic friendship was formed but that line was so very thin and I kept willing for them to cross it.

I loved the persistence in Reagan's character though because despite Landon constantly pushing back, she kept charging that wall he'd built around him, adament she would eventually get through. She really did steal my heart and I loved her for the fight she had in her:
"You know we all have secrets right? We all have scars, some scars can be seen and others cannot. Every scar has a story and every story needs to be told. When you're ready, I'll be here to listen to your story."

The secondary characters in this book were brilliant. The relationship Lindsay had with her brother Landon was just beautiful and heart warming. She was such a fun, vibrant character who would do anything to see her brother happy. And Matt... a straight shooter for a partner, he was just the kind of person Landon needed in his life. He was the only other person Landon trusted so that said heaps about his character. I can't wait for the next book in the series which is Matt's and we get the prologue for it at the end of "Undone!!!" It's fab!!!!

"Undone" was definitely an emotionally charged read that had me on the verge of tears a few times but then tortured souls tend to do that to me. In terms of angst, it was definitely there but for the first half of the book, it was quiet, lurking in the background, lightly strumming my heart strings, making me aware of its presence. But once I hit the half way mark, out it came all guns a blazing squeezing the very life out of the organ that keeps me alive. My heart well and truly hurt:
“I’m going to hurt you, Reagan. It’s who I am; it’s what I do. I will never physically hurt you– but emotionally, I will wreck you, and I don’t want to fucking hurt you. I like you–a lot. But it’s inevitable, I’m going to hurt you, and I’m going to hate myself when it happens.”

Up until that point, the story line had been a little predictable (don't get me wrong, it honestly didn't affect my enjoyment of the book whatsoever) but the second half ... bloomin' hell, it was twist after twist and the last 15%... woah!!! Rip my heart out and dance on it why don't ya .. I was a mess... on the edge of my seat desperate for the outcome. Thank you Rebecca Shea for not taking the safer option with the final twist... it made the story so much more realistic for the what the characters had endured.

I loved "Undone" and the epilogue ... OMG Landon Christianson you are full of surprises. I rated this book 4 Hearts. I can't wait for Matt's book entitled "Unforgiven!!!

Let me start by saying, I loved absolutely everything about this book, it was definitely an “insta-love” for me. And when it came to Landon Christianson, I wanted to hold him and devour him all at the same damn time.

We first met Landon in Unbreakable, the cop that let Jessica into his heart. The first one ever, besides his crazy sister Lindsay, he ultimately let’s Jessica go because he knew deep down he couldn’t be that man for her.

Fast-forward sometime down the road and we are re-acquainted with his antics kicking a no-named girl out of his bed. He is a self-named asshole, prick, ladies man, what have you and that is Landon with every female who has a pair of boobs, an ass, and well you get the picture.

His relationship with his sister Lindsay is amazing; I loved their love for each other. The way they could just read and finish each other’s sentences and the banter, my god, the banter always had me laughing out loud. He has been her protector since he was 8 and she was 4. I won’t go into too much detail as I don’t want to give out spoilers but their bond is unbreakable.

“Aca-Landon, are you up?”
“Are you going to aca-everything for the next fucking
week, Linds? Because I’m not sure I can handle it.”

Cue scene where Mr. Ladies man walks into the bar and runs into Reagan, aka “Doc”. He has his eyes set on her and refuses to take no for an answer. Reagan is a beautiful doctor in this small town who has a love for taking care of people and animals. She is basically the all-American girl.

They go out on a few dates and you just know right off the bat that Landon and Reagan both are concealing some pretty deep-rooted issues and secrets. I won’t give out any clues to the what, why and who, but Landon and Reagan are made for each other and when they finally get it right, they get it right. It isn’t a fairy tale in the beginning, Landon and Reagan had a one sided relationship, but Landon was trying his hardest and you could just feel the love he had for her, he just couldn’t express it without the fear. Reagan loved Landon unconditionally, always patient and kind. When he pushed, she pulled and vice versa. They had a beautiful love and when Landon got his head on straight he was the perfect man for her; the love that is between these two, healed all their scars from the past and made a beautiful beginning for these two deserving people. (P.s. the sex between these two is off the fucking charts!!! What I wouldn’t give for the robe tie and handcuffs treatment from Mr. Landon, mm mmm mm).

Please go out and one click this baby right now! It is just beautiful! Here are a few of my favorite lines in this book. I cannot wait for the next in this series!

“You know we all have secrets, right? We all have scars;
some scars can be seen and others cannot. Every scar has
a story and every story needs to be told. When you’re ready,
I’ll be here to listen to your story.

“You may never love me the way I need to be loved-but don’t deny
yourself the opportunity. Let me love you. You deserve that.”

“Where she is strong, I am weak. Where she has words, I have none.
I can see a million thoughts flash through her eyes, but she doesn’t
need to speak the words I feel coming from her at this moment –
I know them as if there were my own.”

“I can’t promise it will always be easy, but it will always be perfect
for us.”

“I love you, Reagan. I choose you. I will always choose you – choose me.”

The first word I will say about this book is wow! I was completely blown away by it! I fell completely in love with the first book in this series, Unbreakable, and I honestly didn't expect another book, but I'm so happy that the author decided to give a character from the first book his own story! It was definitely essential as his story did feel like it was left open and this book gives the reader closure as to where his story goes and why he acts the way he does! I just cannot get over this book! It was absolutely amazing! The plot of this book was actually quite dark at a lot of points and it was about the two main characters coming to terms with what they had been through and learning how to open up and not keep everything inside! Quite a lot happened in the plot and I actually read this book in one sitting because I didn't want to put it down! This book also stayed with my long after I read the last page! The pace was perfect and I was basically glued to this book for hours until I had finished it! I couldn't out it down at all! The characters were absolutely amazing! We met the main male character, Landon, in the first book in this series, Unbreakable, but this book was his story after the events of the first book! Landon in this book was all over the place emotionally! He really didn't know whether he was coming or going and this was because of what his childhood had been like! I didn't expect Landon to have been through such traumatic ordeals, but I could see just how much it had affected him as he got older! It had affected him so much and he kept it all to himself, which made it affect him even more! Landon was still super hot and such an amazing character! He really intrigued me in the first book, so I'm really happy I got to get inside his head and see what made him who he was! Reagan was the main female character and the love interest of Landon! She was also the one that made Landon face up to what he had been through! I loved Reagan because she was so persistent with Landon to let her in and to change the way he lived his life for the better! Reagan had also been through a traumatic ordeal and she went through another traumatic ordeal in this book, but Reagan was such a strong character and she proved this time and time again! I completely adored her and the way she was and her personality! She was such a sweet person! I was a tad upset that the main characters from the first book weren't in this book even a little, but I was happy that they were at least mentioned in passing a few times! The ending of this book was absolutely perfect! It showed how far both Landon and Reagan had come from what they had been through! I freaking adored it! I'm super sad to see this series come to an end too, but it's been one amazing series that will definitely stay with me! I'm looking forward to more books from this author too! The cover for this book is stunning! It suits the new cover for Unbreakable perfectly and the model on the front suits the character of Landon perfectly too! Big thank you to Rebecca for an ARC of Undone and to Shh Moms Reading for having me on the Blog Tour!

My very first thought when I finished this book was crap, how am I going to write a review that both makes sense, and doesn’t give too much away!!?? I’m still kind of at a loss on how to do this…but as the saying goes; I’m going to give it the “good ol’ college try.”

We first met Landon, the sexy beast of a man that he is, in Unbreakable (which if you haven’t read it, stop reading this review and go one-click it IMMEDIATELY!!) He and his southern charm could melt the panties off a nun on Sunday! Or any day of the week for that matter. His smile alone would do the trick for me! He is a mysterious angry man with commitment issues (what good looking, hard bodied male doesn’t). He never beds the same woman more than once, and usually forgets their name as is the case with Marie or is it Marianna…or something. He’s brooding with an undercurrent of pain, shame, and resentment and refuses to let anyone in. Until Reagan; maybe.

He and his partner Matt are called to Mac’s bar on a disturbance call (they’re cops). That’s when he sees her. She with her long flowing black hair, legs that go on for days, and the most beautiful blue eyes he’s ever seen. After leaving the bar, he can’t get her out of his head. He makes mention of going to Mac’s the next day to grab a few beers to his partner and Matt agrees. The next evening can’t come fast enough. Once at the bar, he scans the place looking for the goddess on stilts. He doesn’t see her at first. But, then she makes an appearance at his table razing Sam on his serving skills. For the rest of the night she serves Landon, Matt, and Lindsay. The ‘blind’ pour Mac dishes out in Lindsay’s drink catches up with her and it quickly becomes apparent that it’s time to leave. Lagging behind, Landon asks Reagan for her number. Here is where your 50/50 guessing skills will have to come into play. Does she give it to him, or does she push the rejection ball into forward motion??

As the story of Landon progresses, we are delivered, on a not so shiny platter, his past and delve deeper into the secrets that keep him up at night. This was not easy for me to read. I cringed, I gasped, I cried, I hated, and I forgave. The things he and his sister endured as children are beyond comprehensible. The descriptions Rebecca uses to paint the picture grinded at my nerve endings; they were so real. I flinched and at several points had to put Landon and his story down just to gather the strength to continue.

I’m not sure that I’ve ever bonded with a male lead as much as I did with Landon. I’m not sure if that is a good or a bad thing, it just is. He pulled at my heartstrings. His story, his fear, and even his commitment issues were/are completely relatable.

Does Landon get over his issues? Does he ever get Reagan’s number?? Whelp, I guess you’ll just have to read to find out!!

Five++ tattooed hearts!! Rebecca’s sophomore book knocks it out of the park!

“We all have scars; some scars can be seen and others cannot. Every scar has a story and every story needs to be told.”

Undone begins a year after Jess left North Carolina in Unbreakable. Landon is back to one night stands and keeping everyone at arms length until he catches sight of Reagan while out on a call one night. He is immediately intrigued by her in a way a woman has never interested him since Jess. When he orchestrates a meeting the next night, his interest only grows.

Both Landon and Reagan have secrets and need to find a way to heal. Landon is stubborn, unwilling to open up and let Reagan in. Reagan pushes and pushes until he snaps, which only sets him further back, and what leads him to heal broke my heart even more than just hearing what it was he was hiding in his past.

After initially not liking Landon in Unbreakable, I loved how his actions turned that book. So to see he had reverted to his old ways was disappointing to say the least. But knowing he was capable of feeling if he let himself, I followed his story willingly. We learn so much more about him, some of which was predictable while other aspects took me by surprise. So much went into making him the man we met in Unbreakable and get to know more intimately in Undone.

Reagan was instantly intriguing to me. A doctor moonlighting at a bar was an interesting introduction to her character, as were her rules about giving out her phone number. There was so much hiding beneath the surface with her that I was drawn to her quickly and she was such a strong individual that her stubborn streak often led to interesting story twists.

I loved Matt and Lindsay too. They were always nearby or directly involved with supporting Landon and Reagan, both as family and best friends. I cannot wait for their book, Unforgiven, to hopefully learn what was going on behind the scenes in this book. We get a lot of hints that something is going on between them, but other than where the stories overlap in public, we only get Lindsay’s unwillingness to say anything to Landon. On top of waiting for their book, at so many points, Lindsay brought the perfect comedic moment or insight, depending on the situation, that I can’t wait to see things from her point of view.

Once again, Rebecca Shea’s writing pulled me in from the beginning and wouldn’t let me go. I can’t decide if I like it as much as or more than Unbreakable. There were several surprise twists and plenty of sweet moments from both main characters that I had a hard time putting this down to get anything else done.

Thanks to Rebecca Shea for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Read this and other reviews at Madison Says.

Oh, Landon. I loved you in Unbreakable, and I knew you had a good story to tell–thankfully, Undone didn’t disappoint. In fact, it might’ve been the fastest I’ve read a book in a while. I ate this one right up.

Landon and Reagan’s story was a good one–but it certainly wasn’t an easy love story. Landon, well, the dude is pretty messed up. He had quite the upbringing, full of lots of not good stuff. And Reagan, she’s just not ready for romance. But they happen. They can’t seem to stop “them” from happening.

“I’m going to hurt you, Reagan. It’s who I am; it’s what I do. I will never physically hurt you–but emotionally, I will wreck you, and I don’t want to fucking hurt you. I like you–a lot. But it’s inevitable, I’m going to hurt you, and I’m going to hate myself when it happens.”

I gotta hand it to Rebecca–when I thought I hit the “big moment,” I was wrong … there was another big moment to come. And it just kept happening. I was knocked down. Kicked a bit. Dragged back and forth by my hair. Then left there. Shortly after, someone came with a hairbrush. Okay, bad metaphor. But you get it, I hope. This book will give you a tummy ache. Of the second best kind (the first best being from eating an entire container of Samoas … which I might’ve done while reading this).

The chemistry between Landon and Reagan is hot. HOT. They’re into some kinky stuff, and that’s just perfectly fine. Nothing too crazy. Just enough. ;) Regardless, the tension is there, the build up to the steam, and then when it happens. SIGHHHHH. Need a smoke. And I’m no smoker.

The plot lines I thought would be predictable, she avoided, and in other areas, she surprised me. I love that. Doesn’t happen often, so when it does, I do a fist bump with myself. So congrats to Rebecca on another great book in this series–and seriously, the excerpt from Unforgiven in the back? What. the. hell. My heart, brain, stomach, all of me–hurts already. Definitely a series to read, if you’ve not already started!

LOVE LOVE LOVED!

Rebecca has done it again! I loved Unbreakable BUT UNDONE….. sigh, I love Landon. I am thrilled we have gotten the chance to see his story. Make sure to pick this one up, you won’t regret it.

I am going to try to be careful here for those of you who have not read Unbreakable the first book in this series, as I do not want to give any spoilers. Undone can certainly be read as a stand-alone, however, you are missing out if you do not read Unbreakable first.

So, where to start…. Landon…. We get Landon’s story!!!!! Ohhhh yummy, tattooed, love them and leave them Landon wrapped up in a perfect package in his police uniform. Can you picture it?? While we meet Landon first in Unbreakable and his start in that book was that he was a bit of a player, he certainly did a 180 when he found someone he had feelings for and he would win you over by the end. You know reading Unbreakable that Landon has a story and you get it and more in Undone. Rebecca did not disappoint!

I loved this book! Again, Rebecca delivered a story that that had me quickly turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next and racing to what I hoped would be a happily ever after. I was pleasantly surprised with the twists the plot took.

You get to see into Landon’s past, and why he struggles with allowing himself to love and be loved. In comes Reagan who has caught Landon’s attention and perhaps his heart. Reagan is a beautiful independent and successful woman, but has her own share of heartbreak from her past. She is not the type to allow herself to be on the end of a one-night-stand, she wants more. Will she be able to fully break down Landon’s walls? Will he let her? Can Landon fight his demons by letting Reagan into his past so they can have a future together?

I highly recommend on picking up this series to find out for yourself.

Having met Landon in Unbreakable, you know there's something about him, some back story that makes him who he is. I really was looking forward to getting to know him. He let Jess go because he wasn't the man she needed, but can he be that man for anyone? When he meets Reagan, he needs to decide that.

Reagan was such a likable character. She had her own secrets, but she was such a fun and sassy woman. She knew what she wanted in life.

The chemistry between the two of them was obvious. The sex was hot, and their banter was realistic. I felt like I knew them both in real life. There were moments when I wanted to slap them both though and tell them what to do to get their happily ever after. Why was Landon being so stubborn? Was his secret really that bad?

As the story progresses, there are more secrets out there than just what they both are keeping. People never really are what they seem in so many ways. Good and bad surprises kept me reading more.

There are some tough subjects discussed in this book and it's fair to say that they might make some people cringe. Rebecca is an author who doesn't shy away from writing about tough subjects.

I loved this book and I can't wait to read about Matt and Lindsey!

DNF AT 28%. Just couldn't get into this one. A cop, into only quickies, meets a beautiful do-gooder OB/GYN doctor just recently moved into town. Will the cop be willing to give the relationship a chance? At 28% I lost interest. I'm sure there will be a lot of people that will want to find out, just not me. Sorry.

I don't connect emotionally with most women. I let a woman "in" once--to a place in my heart I really didn't know existed, but I let her go, knowing she needed something I could never be. I don't do romance, don't do relationships, and I definitely don't do love.

We met Landon in Unbreakable. He is the man that stepped down and gave up the girl he connected with to her true love. He is the tatted, emotionally unavailable Police Officer. He is so broken, but also so charismatic. He is sexy, commanding, hot, but also confused, scared, and closed off. He does not let people in and protects himself. His history has made him not trust easily and he is afraid of loss. He is loyal to his little sister and best friend and partner, Matt. But is a confirmed man whore and has no plans to change it.

Reagan has recently moved to town to help her Uncle in his bar and is also a Doctor. She is smart, strong, sassy, and determined. She has has her own tragedy in her past that still affects her and also makes her vulnerable and insecure. One meeting intrigues them, even though neither of them were looking for someone.

They both have issues from their past that made them put up walls. Landon's way of coping is to not do relationships. He fucks and does not do repeat performances. Reagan buries herself in work, volunteering, and tries to ignore her pain. But they immediately spark and have good chemistry. They enjoy spending time together even though they are afraid to label it or admit what they want. They have secrets that they do not want to share. They are both afraid of being hurt and further loss. They dance around their attraction an need to be around each other while also not thinking either is ready for more of a relationship.

But eventually one of them is going to demand more. And the other one is going to have to quit living in denial and face up to it. They both have fears, insecurities, and a lot of baggage between them. They have to break down barriers, face their pasts, open up, and develop trust to even have a chance of facing their current challenges or a future. There is a lot of denial, pushing away, miscommunication. and running. There are secrets, omissions, and issues to face.

“You know we all have secrets, right? We all have scars; some scars can be seen and others cannot. Every scar has a story and every story needs to be told. When you’re ready, I’ll be here to listen to your story."

Will they be patient enough and strong enough to fight for each other and stay when it matters most?

It was angsty, surprising, emotional, and drama filled. But it was also humorous and sweet as well. It kept me interested and engaged. Sure, there were times I wanted to shake each of them or at least handcuff Landon down with his own cuffs so he could not always run away when things got tough. But there were also times that I appreciated the way they began to stand up for each other and see that there has to be balance. My heart broke for each of them at times. I became quite invested in their outcome.

"You know when we're done? When one of us is dead. Until then, we're undone. Do you understand?"

I really enjoyed this installment. Rebecca Shea's writing style draws you in. Her characters have depth and flaws, but are still likable. She gives us both points of view that is so critical when characters have such hidden fears, secrets, and inability to share their feelings. The plot was interesting and some twists.

This can be read as a stand-alone, but I still recommend reading Unbreakable first since you meet Landon and his sister, Lindsay and also because it is an amazing heartfelt and emotional story. I love Landon and Lindsay's close protective bond. I also liked getting to know more about Lindsay and his best friend and I enjoyed their interactions and support of Landon and Reagan. I look forward to reading more with them in Unforgiven.

Thanks to Rebecca Shea for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review. Will be posted at Reviews by Tammy and Kim.

Undone follows after Unbreakable where we get to know Landon a little bit more and hear his story and what a story it is.

Landon never wanted love or commitment and after meeting Jessica he saw a glimpse of something that maybe he would want. Never being close to any female he felt close to Jessica but knowing that she didn’t love him she had to let her go and in turn going back to his no love, no commitment, no strings way of life. Until her…

Reagan is an accomplished young woman who works hard being an OB/GYN and doesn’t have much time for anything else. Working part time at her uncle’s bar is where she meets Landon and there is an instant connection. She craves him in her life but knowing his rules about sleeping with the same woman twice she pushes down her bodies craving because she wants him in her life even only as a friend.

The attraction between Landon and Reagan is undeniable and only time will tell in Landon will take a chance at love or if he will follow his rules and not get involved with Reagan. Will Reagan put her heart out there knowing that Landon could possibly crush it leaving her heart broken or will she risk it all for a chance of being able to give Landon the love she knows he needs?

Rebecca blew me away in Unbreakable and she didn’t disappoint in Undone. It was absolutely stunning and beautiful and made me fall even more in love with Landon. The progression of their relationship was spot on and didn’t feel rushed like in a lot of romance novels out there. Reagan was careful with her heart and stayed true to herself. Landon fought against his desires because he saw something different with Reagan and knew he couldn’t walk away from her. He played by his rules so he wouldn’t hurt her.

“I’m going to hurt you, Reagan. It’s who I am; it’s what I do. I will never physically hurt you – but emotionally, I will wreck you, and I don’t want to fucking hurt you. I like you – a lot. But it’s inevitable, I’m going to hurt you and I’m going to hate myself when it happens.”

While reading Undone I kept waiting and hoping that maybe they would give in and just go at it but I am glad that didn’t happen in the beginning because it made the story more real – it showed that their feelings for each other were stronger than their desire to sleep together so I knew when it did happen it would be right and magical. You got to see a friendship grow and knew that once they both realized that they couldn’t live without each other that their love relationship would be even stronger because their friendship was concrete.

Now it wasn’t all friendship, smiles, and lovey dovey goo-goo eyes they both have a past, a past of secrets and demons that can shatter what they are building. Reagan pushes and sometimes someone can push too much. When Landon’s past comes back, Reagan finds herself alone – pushing too much, too hard, too fast and as Landon warmed her she is heartbroken.

“You can’t give up on something that doesn’t want you,” I say as I close the door tightly behind me and walk to my car.

Landon is a complicated character that I enjoyed dissecting and finally when something snaps inside himself he realizes he can’t live without Reagan. He needs her and he plans to show her. But when she needed him the most he wasn’t there, he ran scared and it may have cost him everything.

“Don’t go, please,” I beg him. My stomach is in knots and I can hardly breathe. “Choose me…..

Reagan has her own past and secrets she needs to work through. When the unexpected happens and causes more heartbreak for Reagan she finds herself exactly where she was so many years ago. Alone, scared, and heartbroken. My heart broke for Reagan with everything that she had gone through and went through during Undone, I cried for her. I wanted to comfort her and take away all her pain but nothing could erase what she went through and what she is going through.

“You know, she might be the one to save you.”

Turning around quickly, my eyes shoot daggers at him and my words fire back at him, “Save me? Save me from what?”

From yourself, you stupid asshole.”

Will Landon’s fight for Reagan be enough to make up for walking away from her when she needed him the most or did he seal his fate the day he turned his back and didn’t look back? Will Reagan heal and be strong enough to follow her heart’s desire and forgive Landon or did he succeed at pushing her away forever?

Saffron - I love how Rebecca writes! She didn't disappoint when it came to telling us about Landon and Reagan!

Noemi - She did an amazing job writing Undone. I love Landon!

Saffron - As much as I loved Landon, I'm a Team Gabe girl. Everyone else can fight over Landon. lol

Noemi - Well that's like comparing apples and oranges lol. They are both great guys in their own way.

Saffron - Very true. I liked how he pursued Reagan though. Once he determined he needed to know more about her, he was pretty relentless.

Noemi - He knew deep down what he wanted even though he didn't want to admit it. I loved how Reagan didn't take any of his crap lol.

Saffron - She was great! I love meeting a heroine who is someone that I could see myself hanging out with.

Noemi - Absolutely! I'd much rather read about a heroine that can hold her own then a wishy washy chick that I want to shake some sense into.

Saffron - Yes, she was not wishy washy at all! Once you learn her back story, you understand her.

Noemi - Oh boy did her back story break my heart. I'm glad that if made her a stronger person to deal with Landon and what was ahead of them.

Saffron - They both had really tough back stories. I thought Landon was determined to let his past rule him.

Noemi - Yeah he just wanted to try to forget it and move on. Unfortunately that didn't work to let him really live, he just existed day to day.

Saffron - I love how Matt tried to call him out about it too! I really liked Matt! (Not to be confused with my d-bag ex named Matt, right?)

Noemi - Matt and Lindsay are the best! He really did try to make him see where he was messing up.

Saffron - Lindsay surprised me in a lot of ways too. I'm not sure why exactly. I think it might be because I had been seeing her in the way that Landon had as his little baby sister who depended on him. But she really did have some maturity and could hold her own.

Noemi - That's for sure. It was really hard for Landon to see her as a grown up. He had to be her parent and protector since he was 8.
Saffron - Right. But I don't want to spoil it by saying why! Moving along... heehee.

Noemi - We'd be here all night if we didn't lol

Saffron - I didn't like that Adam at first at all! He made me really nervous with how he acted around Reagan once Landon entered the picture.

Noemi - I was really suspicious of him, made me worry that something really bad was going to happen.

Saffron - Right! Talk about building the suspense!

Noemi - But that's one of the things I love about Rebecca's writing. She kept me guessing what was going to happen and not once was I able to figure out. I love that about a book.

Saffron - Definitely. She did that in Unbreakable and kept it up in this one. When it came to the sex scenes... ummmm... Landon DID NOT disappoint. Just sayin'.

Noemi - Oh no Landon never ever disappointed. I'm not ashamed to admit I might have re-read a few scenes lol.

Saffron - OH damn! That's too funny! HAHAHAHA! Funny AND awesome!

Noemi - Well you read it so you know lol. Hmmm I wonder if he would want to stop by for a chat sometime, he he.

Saffron - Maybe! So I think everyone needs to know that there IS a HEA at the end of this.

Noemi - There so is!!! Seriously this book and series doesn't disappoint.

Saffron - I was really hoping my gut was right that I wouldn't be disappointed! I gave it 5 stars!

Noemi - A huge 5 stars from me also. Now I can't was for book 3.

Saffron - Oh yeah! I so need book 3!

I think I was in the minority who feel for Landon in Unbreakable. I was rooting for him and Jess… but I do have a soft spot for the bad boy. I always want them to get the HEA. So when it was announced Landon was getting his own book I jumped for joy! Even though this is a series, it can be read as standalone but you would be missing out on an amazing book in Unbreakable! This is in a dual POV and is a complete book that has it all… angst, heartbreak, and a hotness factor that is off the charts! I loved the chemistry between the characters and was pulled in from the beginning.

We have Landon… our broken alpha male. He grew up with an abusive father, a mother that abandoned him and his sister Lyndsey that he has always protected. He does not do relationships… he’s a self-proclaimed man whore that never sleeps with the same woman twice. Only one girl has been able to penetrate his hard exterior but she was not meant to be.

“I don’t do romance, I don’t do relationships, and I definitely don’t do love” –Landon

Then we have Reagan, the strong willed doctor that the moment Landon eyes landed on her he knew she was different. She is witty, smart, and doesn’t put up with Landon’s bs. She on the other hand doesn’t do one night stands. She herself has had to deal with extreme heartbreak and does not let people in. But when the paths cross they are both drawn to each other.

“But I decide in that moment, when you want something so badly enough you have to take risks. I’m not playing it safe anymore.” – Reagan

Both are start to have strong feelings for each other. Landon has stopped his womanizing ways and Reagan is opening her heart to him but still they have battles within their relationship. Coming from an abusive father, Landon is afraid that he will be just like his father. So rather let anyone in, he pushes them away.

“I’m going to hurt you, Reagan. It’s who I am: it’s what I do. I will never physically hurt you- but emotionally. I will wreck you, and I don’t want to fucking hurt you.”- Landon

“You may never love me the way I need to be loved- but don’t deny yourself the opportunity. Let me love you. You deserve that”- Reagan

It’s an emotional angst full ride that keeps you clued to your kindle. Can Landon allow his walls to fall and let someone into his heart? Reagan has secrets of her own, how will Landon react to them? When the pieces of the puzzle finally fall into place will there be happiness at the end? You just need to read to find out. I also loved the secondary characters in the book. Landon’s sister Lyndsey and friend Mike add a great secondary story line that I sure hope we shall be seeing more of!

It has all things I love: angst, heartbreak, the bad boy, the witty female, and let’s not forget about the hotness factor! I love a bad boy with a dirty mouth! I wasn’t sure how Undone would hold up to Unbreakable but the sophomore novel by Rebecca Shea is one that is a staple in everyone’s library.
