AWESOME! Just when I think McCray has pushed the envelope in the sick, twisted, maniacally comical and thrilling, she does it Again! And I can't get enough!!!

I Love all the main characters and their dynamics - Darc; the autistic savant detective. Trey; the comic relief and Darc's keeper/partner. Mala; Child psychologist and consultant for the SPD. And of course, Janet; orphaned - survivor of crazed serial killer with her own savant abilities.

It's wonderful to grow with the characters, as it makes them very relatable and tangible people. Throw that in with seriously demented, psychotic killer cases, with whacked out curveball plots that work and I'm now very hooked on this series and many other works by Carolyn McCray.

Now, I have to start the next installment. Yummy!!! A definite must read author and series, for all avid gritty crime and thriller readers.

Carnal leads to how Mala and Janey's relationship is progressing. Also, we see how Darc is handling a odd relationship with Mala. Then we have the wonderful, breakfast meat loving Trey. In this short story, we see how no matter things always turn out...Mala and Janey will be running head first into some type of serial killer. Makes you wander why they are so cursed. Thank goodness they have Darc to help them out.

Carnal is a little gross in regards to how it explains how the serial killer murders his victims.

O.K. short story I do like Darc and his partner. But Mala is turning into Jessica Fletcher from Murder She Wrote, she can't go anywhere or do anything without a crime scene. I would also be removing Janey from here immediately, where are Social Services? Constantly taking her to murder scenes and putting her in danger at such a young age with her history isn't realistic or acceptable. I also think we need to watch out for that bear he is the scariest thing in the books.

This is the 2.5 book to the collection and I'm posting my full review under that. I do want to mention of you like Carolyn and Ben (which are favorites of mine) you will not want to miss this collection. WARNING this is very graphic and gory! The cast is really great and through the collection you will love what happens to Darc! Great read.....

HOUSE BUYING CAN BE A UPLIFTING AND TERRIFYING ORDEAL, A REAL ROLLERCOASTER RIDE. THIS SHORT READ SURE PROVES THAT. I'M GLAD MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE THOUGH HORRIBLE WAS MUCH MORE PLEASANT THAN MALA, JANEY AND POPEYE. OF COURSE ANYTHING INVOLVING ONE OF "TEAM DARC" WON'T BE JUST ORDINARY UN-UH, EXCITING-CREEPY-SCARY-FUNNY. OH YEAH! ;D

The story was ok, but it really gets boring when Janey and Mala are threatened to be killed in each story. The plot was kind of weak, but the characters were great as usual. Again, I am having an issue with the style, too undescriptive for me.

Worser and worser. Little girls do not belong at crime scenes. They do not have the ability to solve crimes. People with Asperger's do not suddenly understand empathy. Serial killers do not band together and share notes like they're in some sort of sewing circle.

This was a fun quick read. The more I read, the more I love the characters ... even Trey is growing on me.

Not as good as the full novels, but a continuation of developing the characters, especially Mala and Janey. The villain was not very convincing.
