Cassandra Clare said that she will publish another trilogy in the Shadowhunters' world after the Dark Artifices and The TLH trilogy. It will have two main characters, Kit and Ty Blackthorn. More information to come...
Cassandra Clare said about writing more books in the Shadowhunter World:
My plan at the moment is to do five Shadowhunter series, total. I don’t know if I’ll do any series in the Shadowhunter world beyond that. I don’t know why five exactly — maybe because one of my major literary idols has always been Tamora Pierce and she did five series set in Tortall. :) Maybe I think I have five stories to tell in this world. Maybe I’ll get to the end and want to tell more. Maybe not — I have a stockpile of other worlds and stories in my head; I’m writing one of them by writing Magisterium now, but there are many others.
There is a special sort of enjoyment in developing stories in a created world, because you can take the rules you yourself have invented, and bend them or break them. You can create connections and history — the story of Isabelle’s ruby necklace stretches back all the way to Vampires, Scones and Edmund Herondale. Then again, with a brand new world, you get to make everything up again. It’s like: brand-new baby or adorable five-year old? They’re both good.
(The five Shadowhunter series are TiD, TLH, TMI, TDA, and very far down the road, TWP. Don’t even ask about that one! It’s too far in the future! There are other Shadowhunter projects like The Bane Chronicles and the graphic novel project about the Circle, currently in planning stages and known as TST, but I’m not counting them: I’m only counting book series/trilogies written solely by me.)
Cassandra Clare was born to American parents in Tehran, Iran and spent much of her childhood travelling the world with her family, including one trek through the Himalayas as a toddler where she spent a month living in her father’s backpack. She lived in France, England and Switzerland before she was ten years old.
Since her family moved around so much she found familiarity in books and went everywhere with a book under her arm. She spent her high school years in Los Angeles where she used to write stories to amuse her classmates, including an epic novel called “The Beautiful Cassandra” based on a Jane Austen short story of the same name (and which later inspired her current pen name).
After college, Cassie lived in Los Angeles and New York where she worked at various entertainment magazines and even some rather suspect tabloids where she reported on Brad and Angelina’s world travels and Britney Spears’ wardrobe malfunctions. She started working on her YA novel, City of Bones, in 2004, inspired by the urban landscape of Manhattan, her favourite city. She turned to writing fantasy fiction full time in 2006 and hopes never to have to write about Paris Hilton again. Cassie’s first professional writing sale was a short story called “The Girl’s Guide to Defeating the Dark Lord” in a Baen anthology of humor fantasy. Cassie hates working at home alone because she always gets distracted by reality TV shows and the antics of her cats, so she usually sets out to write in local coffee shops and restaurants. She likes to work in the company of her friends, who see that she sticks to her deadlines.
City of Bones was her first novel. Sword Catcher is her most recent novel.
I mean, I know we still have a few years to prepare for Shadowhunters to actually end, but I'm already having an identity crisis because I don't know who I'll become when I can't claim "waiting for the next SH book" as an identity anymore.
All of this was triggered because of the two beautiful tarot cards where we can see Ty and Kit as 18 years olds. I'm not ready.
It's like every week Cassie Clare's announcing yet a new Shadow Hunter series.
You really have to wonder if she's focusing on the one she's working on currently....would that be TMI, TDA, that fourth series, this one, or the one where every Shadow Hunter goes to an alternate universe where they attend a British boarding school and Jace has platinum blonde hair.
Oops, that's Cassie's fan fic.
Before you go ape shit on me Clare friends, don't you think this is jumping the gun a little? I get your excited about your fandom, but don't you care about quality over quantity?
Whatever. Disagree all you like that's fine, but really. Really?
How much is enough?
Will I be reading this one. Maybe. The fact it involves an LGBT relationship is slightly interesting because the LBGT relationship in TMI was its best part-though Alec is sort of whiney really Magnus is the best part of that relationship but...it could be good.
But the fact that this is the third series announced in a span of six months I'm raising my cynical eyebrows.
I'll probably be 29 when this final book releases and I know I'll be in a good happy place in my life. I'll have conquered my present goals and found new ones. Found great love. I'll be who I am in my head. And even then, I'll read this book and be so very happy and sad to know where all of the people of this world ended up! I can't wait. I don't want a time machine to take me to 2025 because I really want to work and enjoy the years in between then and now, but I know Cassie will give me a great freaking ending. Looking forward to it! ❤️
The Last Shadowhunter will be the third and final book in Cassandra Clare’s The Wicked Powers series 🖤⚔️.
We don’t have a release date yet, but just knowing this is the big finale makes me both excited and scared 😭🔥. After The Last King of Faerie (2026) and The Last Prince of Hell (2027), this book will bring everything to an end.
As a fan who has grown up with the Shadowhunters world, the thought of reaching the last chapter of this saga is emotional 😢✨. It feels like the end of an era, and I already know it’s going to break my heart in the best way possible ❤️📚.
After all these years, we have titles for the last series in this world - and let me tell you, seeing the title of this one made my stomach drop out. I'm not ready for it all to end, but leave it to Cassandra Clare to end it as epically as possible, and I hope this one breaks the 1000 page mark too.
this book is titled "The Last Shadowhunter" and i'm already TERRIFIED of what will come out of it, like,,,,, what do you mEAN???????????????????????????
seeing this title makes me feel such a rush of adrenaline and panic that i have to remind myself that this book isn't out yet, has no expected publication yet, which means it's not real to me yet.
(i stg if anything happens to clary/jace, simon/izzy, alec/magnus, emma/julian, kit/ty, and MOST OF ALL tessa/jem i'm going to actually drown in my tears)
i'll be 21 by the time this comes out! will i still be interested in CC's books? i hope i am!! this is the LAST book. all the ends have to be tied omg, i have been looking forward to this for years now omg
I just started reading the mortal instruments recently so there’s A LOT of books to read. But the characters and world are just up my street and I can’t wait to go on this journey. Can’t wait for the LAST SHADOWHUNTER !!
