Darn you Rebecca Royce!
You have messed with my head in four different ways:
You waited a year and three months between Westervelt 7 and this one.
The book was not 750 pages long, which would have just been adequate.
You finished the series and, oh yeah
You waited a YEAR AND THREE MONTHS between Westervelt 7 and this one!
And now it’s done {sulks}
I actually got my Kindle phone (no the text is never to small) just over a year ago, and went searching for a werewolf book first. So I picked up “Her Wolf” (I love it when I accidently stumble upon a series and figure out the order of the books – that whole numbering thing in the titles helps a lot!). And I devoured it (yeah, pun intended…I work with real wolves and they devour everything). And then I bought the next. And the next. And so on. And then I finished # 7 and ….nothing. Aaaaargh! So I patiently started stalking Ms. Royce’s name on Amazon, and she kept publishing…other books (which I bought and read and they were excellent, but I’m having a series-ending pity party here so don’t distract me.). She even wrote a book with Jewish vampires “Simon’s Fate”. Do you know how many Jewish vampires I’ve come across (in fiction)? 2. Why? Because one of those really, REALLY important commandments in the Torah is never to drink blood. It’s a biggie. Blood is disgusting. We don’t even want to look at it. That’s why we don’t get Jewish vampires. But Ms. Royce went out on a limb and wrote a Jewish vampire book – and I loved it and the characters (you should read it) – even though I knew that G-d could banish them to Sheol at any minute!!:)
Back to the wolves. Rebecca Royce knows wolves better than most writers. She’s like the Charlainne Harris of the shifter world. The books are short and compact (ugh), but they pack a wallop. There is excellent character development. The men are kind of dense and the women are usually smarter than them (I love this part of fiction because it’s total fantasy!). And Kendrick and that witch Drea are always lurking in the background trying to cause trouble.

OK, if you haven’t read the first seven books…you shouldn’t be reading this one yet. Go back and start at the beginning like a good reader.
For the rest of you:
I was never worried for a second that Gabriel Kane and Carrie White (OK, this book also took place in Maine where another Carrie White lived, and every time I read her name I would have post-traumatic flashbacks to both the Stephen King book, which I read at 11 (hence, the trauma – no one should read King until they’re at least 18), and the movie, and pig’s blood kept going through my head – see – blood…UNKOSHER blood at that…terrifying. I almost plotzed) would have their HEA. If you read the first 7, you know that the last book won’t change the formula.
No, I was waiting for 2 deaths. 2 very special deaths. Deaths in which said 2 persons realized they were totally defeated and screwed before something horrible and well-deserved happened to them. And I got it. And it lasted for pages. I never felt cheated in the Kill the Villains department.
So all I can say is that I loved this book, just a little more than the first 7 because of those deaths, and I will miss Westervelt Island greatly (though there is a Westervelt Avenue in the Bronx, just a few miles from me and I can go there and just reminisce).
One other thing, Ms. Royce. All those kids have to group up. They need a series. Really, they do.
Farewell Kane family. It was great knowing you. And thank you for never peeing on my carpet when I brought you into my house.

There has never been a more fitting end to a series....EVER! Honestly, I could end my review with just these 12 words, but such a wonderful book, such a great series deserves more. Gabriel Kane has always known that he is worthless outside of battle, he's stupid. His father burned this knowledge into him since he could walk. Only one person ever made him feel worthy in his life, his mate, Carrie. But now she's gone and no one remembers that she ever existed except for Gabriel. To keep her alive, he made a deal with the devil, his father; he has been betraying his family for forty years. But now he's had enough. His brothers are safe, mated, happy. He's going to end the threat against the pack and kill his father. He may die, but he's nothing anyway. Carrie has lived with the enemy for 40 years. She's been under the control of Kendrick Kane and his mate Drea, but she hasn't given in. She's strong enough to save Gabriel from the choice he made years ago. She has to save her mate. Life is meaningless for her without him and if she can't save him the Pack will be lost.
Rebecca Royce saved the best for last. Truly I had never given much thought to Gabriel. He's the quiet, removed, somewhat scary Kane brother. He acted 'off' (with good reason) and was lately feared to be a traitor (with good reason). His story revealed an incredibly strong, loving, selfless man. A man like his brothers, damaged by his father, convinced of his worthlessness. My heart broke for this man. He was so lost, so deprived of everything that made him whole. Yet he kept going, kept fighting, kept loving. Simply amazing. Carrie's life as a prisoner was awful, but comparatively easy compared to the daily torture Gabriel endured.
I don't want to reveal anything to detract from the reader's enjoyment so I won't go into any of the story. I do want to say that this book was perfect. It wrapped up the storyline and included all of the characters. No loose ends. It was emotional. It made me despair and gave me joy. It brought me to tears multiple times including the final scene. One last sunrise on Westervelt Island, one last family moment, one last chase, one last glimpse into the love that endured beyond the curse. Once again, there has never been a more fitting end.

I have been waiting for this book for sooooooo long (not really since i binge read the season in a week or so but still it can seem like aeons!)
I so freaking love Gabriel and i have been waiting for his book for what seems like ages and his story is truly amazing!!!!
Fast paced filled with twists and turns and OMG moments , as much action as anyone can take ,love ,revenge,family,loyalty,pain...This book is a bunch of emotions twisted and turned into some amazing pages!
Now don't get me wrong as i have said i really loved the book but....
Here is why it gets 3 stars.
I expected more.
I know the author can give more and this book i expected so so so much more.
I expected it to be longer and i expected more details and more words about his life and all that he has been through and i expected to see more about his mate.
Also no matter how good this book was as it is now i found it left me with unanswered questions and with blanks and holes in my plot and in my head and though it was great it didn't leave me complete .
The book ended and though till the last page i simply couldn't put it down when it was over i was left with void in me....there was not excitement over finally the story being over and finally all being write in the world of these amazing wolves.
I feel that the author didn't do much justice to Gabriel and Carrie.
And that is the only reason it gets 3 stars!
This Series and this book is highly recommended and i would love to see more of this pack and these wolves in the future though i know this is the last book in the Series.

Lone Wolf brings us the conclusion to the Westervelt Wolves series, with the love story of Gabriel and Carrie where we see what they both have endured for the last 40 years; it will make your heartache for them and the end of Kendrick and his witch Drea which was quite a poetic type of justice. I really hate to see this series come to end it has been quite an adventure and a thoroughly enjoyable read. Ms. Royce’s storyline has some very unique qualities, the mating ritual where they give a part of their soul to each other, this makes their connection so beautiful they feel they are one and the same and the connection to their individual wolf with the constant conversations going back and forth. I really hate to see this series come to end it has been quite an adventure and a thoroughly enjoyable read, maybe a spin off series – there are still unmated males, the children will be growing up and was Az able to help any of the made wolves.

Having read most of the ones in this series I somehow missed this one. I couldn't have that so in I dived to fill in the missing pieces for me on Gabriel. Carrie is also a important piece that will be shown how she fits in. I will devour this one but also find I will be with sadness too. I have come to love these wolves thanks to the magic writing of this author. She will have also pulled on my emotions so tight that they will pop with even a sniffle or two. No worries for me she also pulls a large smile.

This book was everything a finale should be. I was on pins and needles cause I wanted nothing bad to happen to Gabe. To make the decision he had to make had to be pure agony.
Carrie had no say in what her mate agreed to. I don't know how she held on without cracking. She was an alpha cause she endured forty years of pain and suffering better than he did. She was smart also. To figure out how to bring Gave back from the dark side was genius. I was totally happy with the climax.
I loved the whole series.
I voluntarily agreed to review this book. My review is my own honest opinion.

There aren't enough words to tell you how much I loved reading this storyline! It's Fantastic, Awesome, Compelling, Enthralling and Exciting! OMG! This is by far one of the best shifter books I have read. Rebecca Royce presents a unique shifter romance story that is unlike any other I have read. Most wolf shifter books I have read the shifter transforms into a normal looking wolf but larger in size. Rebecca Royce on the other hand appear to make her shifters to be magical like Lycans, we should see this type of werewolves in the movies, well at least that's the impression I get while reading. I loved how Rebecca revealed the storyline of Gabriel Kane and Carrie White. The romance of this storyline didn't over shadow the action, magic, suspense of the werewolves and witches and the evil of their father Kendrick Kane trying to rid the world of them. Rebecca Royce presented a awesome view of the shifter community and the magic that you love to read in paranormal romance books. All of the main characters are presented in true family and extend family form. We are shown the ups and downs of taking a Mate and how going outside the 'normal' realm finding a mate for werewolves can have both positive and drastic negative impacts. If you like shifter romance novels this book is for you. But remember, you will neèd a few Kleenex tissues and then because it's s scorching hot you may need a fan. This isn't like your normal shifter romance it's AWESOME!
I became so engrossed with this story from the first paragraph. Can you imagine your mate sacrificing everything for you even his wolf. Such Excitement, Adventure, Paranormal, Shifters, Wolves, Other Weres, Suspense, Magic, Witches, Spicy and of course only Gabriel can bring down the evil that has plagued Westervelt wolves for too long because all bad things must be destroyed. But the time has come for endings, You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You’ll fall in love all over again in the thrilling conclusion of Rebecca Royce’s The Westervelt Wolves series! But as the storyline comes to the end you will want to keep reading. I am so in love with this series that I felt like the characters became family friends and of course I DIDN'T WANT THE STORY TO END. If this isn't a genre you like to read I understand but if you love paranormal romance, suspense and being on the edge of your seat this is definitely a book you will want to read. I received this book for my honest review.

This was the first book that I have read by this author. I honestly wish that I would have read the other books in the series however with that being said I do feel that the author did a good job with backstory and tidbits here and there that I wasn’t missing a great deal. Well for the most part at least. There were a couple of times I had to stop and re-read and try to figure it out however that was not the authors fault, but rather mine as I didn’t read the previous books.
Now, with that out of the way I have to tell you that I honestly did love this novel. The love that Ms Royce brought to life between Gabriel and Carrie was practically palatable. It was both sweet and sad at the same time. There honestly were a couple of times I had to stop and cry, and I love it when an author can pull that off!
I was happy to see how Ms Royce tied up the end of the book series, the way that she was able to end the war beautifully. However it is my hope that she will spin off from this series and bring on more because there are so many possibilities.
Overall I am giving this book 4 kisses however for the heat level I am only giving it 2 ½ kisses. It was sweet, not erotic.

There were a couple of times I had to stop and re-read and try to figure it out however that was not the authors fault, but rather mine as I didn’t read the previous books.
Now, with that out of the way I have to tell you that I honestly did love this novel. The love that Ms Royce brought to life between Gabriel and Carrie was practically palatable. It was both sweet and sad at the same time. There honestly were a couple of times I had to stop and cry, and I love it when an author can pull that off!
I was happy to see how Ms Royce tied up the end of the book series, the way that she was able to end the war beautifully. However it is my hope that she will spin off from this series and bring on more because there are so many possibilities.
Overall I am giving this book 4 kisses however for the heat level I am only giving it 2 ½ kisses. It was sweet, not erotic.

With all the high GoodReads recommendations I almost like to give it a higher rating but I'm not.
The ending of this book is satisfying for this book but not a series ending worthily.

It is the story of Tristan and Ashlee and how their love story began the struggle of the Westervelt Wolves to reclaim their lives from the horror their father’s evil plots pushed upon them. After that came Summer’s Wolf, Wolf Reborn, Wolf’s Valentine (a short story), Wolf’s Magic, Alpha Wolf, Angel’s Wolf . And now so end with book 8, Lone Wolf that is the story of Gabriel and Carrie.
A wolf looking for his mate, an alpha man meeting his woman. Maybe he thinks is stronger and have to protect her but find out she is smarter and that he really needs her to survive.
Lone wolf gives you a look in to pack's life, their love, loss and laughter. If you have read the previous books you will read about the characters of the previous books and if you have not a lot of characters without background that mingle in the main story and know nothing about of ever will because this is the last book.
Each book of this series can be read as a stand alone. The ending of this book was more of a regular book ending then a final Series ending. There was not really a need for an ending of this series. The couples and scenarios are of course endless in this type of books. Just look at the series of Jessica Feehan that is now on book #23! Maybe the author thought it was time for something new?

I have really enjoyed the series and am sad to see it end. Gabriel is the brother that had so many secrets and you never knew what to make of him. In this conclusion to the series, you get the answers you wanted and a satisfying conclusion to the series.
Gabriel is much stronger than he believes. He had to make a tough choice and has lived with hard consequences for four decades. He did everything t protect his mate. Carrie is equally strong. She has had to be with his father and the witch that worked to cause all the harm. Carrie believes in Gabriel and it is what keeps her going. When he needs her, she is strong enough to make difficult decisions and put her life on the line.
The evil their father started has caused so much harm to this family, this pack and so many others. In the end, you want there to be justice and some real happiness for those who have suffered. I feel satisfied with the conclusion to the series. It resolves all the questions and gives the reader hope for the future.

What an incredible end to a truly wonderful series! I was so excited to see how Rebecca Royce would wind up the series, and I was definitely not disappointed. I have to say though, I'm definitely sad to see the series end. I will miss the characters of the Westervelt Wolves and their truly phenomenal stories. Speaking of phenomenal, I can't think of a better way to describe Gabriel and Carrie's journey. Gabriel is so incredibly strong, both in body and mind, and ferociously loyal to his mate and his pack. Carrie is loving and fierce and dedicated and she's more powerful than even she knows. They are such a fantastic couple! This book grabbed my attention from page one and kept me riveted throughout the entire story. I found it to be surprising and intriguing and romantic and gripping and impassioned and completely enthralling. I would highly recommend this book and the entire series.

It's over *sniff, sniff* but what an ending! FINALLY Gabriel gets his story and so didn't see this coming at all! What happens when you find your mate but your happiness is short lived when you find out what will happen if you don't go along with your father's evil plan? That's what happens to Gabriel when he and Carrie mate. What they go through over the 40 years broke my heart. But as we know from the previous books the Westervelt Wolves are strong and so are their mates, they'll do what is needed to keep them safe.
This author really knows how to tell a story! You get to know Gabriel and how he's feeling, And Carrie is one strong woman and won't let you forget it! When reading this book you feel so many emotions, especially at the end you feel sad that it's over. Once again going to say it, a must read series and all the books are out so no excuse not to! Forty years and Gabriel can take no more, he has lost his mate, his wolf, and his soul to the deal with the devil (also known as Kendrick) he made to protect his mate and Westervelt after Kendrick’s curse. Determined to end his father he gets blindsided by an unbelievable possibility and ends up falling into Kendrick’s clutches and becoming the instrument of Westervelt’s destruction. Unable to reach him through the new curse his mate Carrie has to find a way to warn Westervelt and keep Gabriel from doing something he can never forgive himself for. WOW! I am both thrilled and sad to see the end of this series, every part was a page turner and ended in more than one book hangover. These will definitely be on my favorites list to read again and again. Great insights into what happened the day the curse took hold and just how deep both madness and love can take hold and heal or annihilate.

Holy Moly the Westervelt Wolves series has drawn to a close. What am I going to do!!!!!! Gabriel and Carrie are the final pairing for these much beleaguered wolves and I'm glad we are going out with a bang!!! Kendrick and his evil witch Drea return and plan their final assault on the island. But you will not see the big old switcheroonie coming. I loved that cos it was a final surprise and a fitting end to the final downfall of the previous Westervelt Alpha.
Gabriel has dealt with so much guilt and has isolated himself from his pack for so long, trying to keep them and his mate safe. Carrie has ensured more torture and hardship than one female should but endures in the hope of seeing her mate once more. This was kinda topsy turvy from the others because they were already mates before the events that caused madness on the island.
All my loose ends were tied up and I so enjoyed knowing that the pack was on its way to being healed and prospering. Wunderbar!!!

I can't believe the series is over!! What an ending though. We finally get Gabriel's story. A mate, Carrie, that he saved by making a deal with his devil of a father. Forced to spy on his pack or so his father thinks. He goes thru one heck of a tough time - tortured over years being without his mate and being the only one of the pack that remembers her. She is forced to live with his father, a man she despises. Can they defeat Kendrick and his witch?. Will they ever be together again. Suspense, action, love, and hate, it's an emotional rollercoaster that won't let you off until the end. An awesome way to end the series. A definite must read!

I couldn't wait to read this book but then didn't want to start it knowing this series could end here. What a great read! Rebecca brought us full circle starting with different time frames as she let's us get to know Gabriel and Carrie. The details and imagination of this writer is outstanding. Never confusing or changing details from earlier books. When I read the blurb I thought I was going to hate Gabriel, but what he's endured for 40 years tugs at my heart strings. I would love to read on a little bit more in the future with these characters and their children as they are growing up. this book was given to me for an honest review.

Nah. That wasn't really a spoiler for anyone, was it? The series couldn't end without the end of Kendrick. I just thought there'd be more to it.
But enough. This is Gabriel and Carrie's story. There's a lot of devotion but not a lot of heat between them. There's mention of how all the brother's mates brought different strengths to the pack. I'm still not sure what Carrie's is.

I think this is my favourite book from the series. I love gabriel he has been through so much and deserves happiness in his life. This was a grwat book and a series i happily reread!

I can't think of a better ending... Gosh ..
I felt so so heartbroken for Gabriel and Carrie.
It was beautiful ... I absolutely loved the whole series.

These books aren't bad, and all of the series put together makes a reasonable length story. Each one individually is too short, and ends abruptly. The protagonists are all different, with different characteristics and issues, I'll give her that. so the stories are all interesting. I just think they need a bit more to finish them off properly, and they might flow better if they were all one big book.

Smashed this series in 5 days. When I finished the first book Her Wolf I knew I wasn't going to get much sleep. I loved following the pack and I felt like I had to stay with them to the end. It was crazy and sad and beautiful and I didn't want it to end. But eventually it did the bad people finally put to rest once and for all. Rebecca Royce you successfully entertained me and turned me into a huge fan. Another incredible gifted author that I intend to follow to the moon and back.

This is the final book in the series. Let the tears begin. Lone Wolf brings us the conclusion to the Westervelt Wolves series, with the love story of Gabriel and Carrie where we see what they both have endured for the last 40 years; it will make your heartache for them and the end of Kendrick and his witch Drea which was quite a poetic type of justice.

This was the awaited finally to the Westervelt Wolves series. I really enjoyed the series but found this book both anticlimactic and lacking. It seemed rushed and really didn't focus on the relationship of the main characters. It was worth reading if only to tie up the loose ends of the series.

I am so glad that they finally got rid of Kendrick. I love this series of books. I think that Rebecca should write a series about all the trouble their kids get into.
