She walked away from him once…

Struggling to live with her decision to walk away from the only man she ever loved and watching helplessly while her brother succumbs to his battle with severe PTSD, NSA analyst Claire Tierney’s life is at an all time low. The final hit comes when she accesses classified information at work that might get her fired. Instead, she’s assigned to a joint taskforce charged with hunting down a Taliban assassin planning an attack on American soil, and finally has something productive to focus on. Until she meets the rest of the team and learns she’ll be working with the last person on earth she wants further contact with; her ex. She knows letting him go was the biggest mistake of her life, but just when she thinks things can’t get any worse, new intel points to the assassin’s intended target. Her.

This time he’s not letting her go…

As a former Special Forces Master Sergeant and second-in-command of his Titanium Security team, Gage Wallace can handle anything, except being forced to go through life without Claire. When she abruptly walked out on him six months ago, his whole world caved in. It’s clear she’s still determined to keep her distance, but when she’s named a possible target of the very cell they’re trying to dismantle, Gage will stop at nothing to ensure she’s safe. When tragedy destroys Claire’s defenses and the explosive desire between them ignites once more, this time he’s not letting her go. Too late they discover that the danger confronting them is far greater than anyone ever realized, and it’s a race against time to stop a terrorist from unleashing hell on them all.

LOVED Gage *swoooon*, loved the story and I even liked the heroine!

Claire Tierney is an NSA (National Security Agency) analyst. Two weeks ago she did a favor for a "friend" (that friend is our hottie Gage) that entailed her looking for information that might help him and his Titanium Security team when they worked a dangerous job in Pakistan. Her poking around had some serious impact at the NSA and multiple agencies started to hunt down Malik Hassani, a former senior official with the Pakistani ISI. Hassani is affiliated with the terror cell Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

 photo tumblr_mkka89qTp21qjanzpo1_500_zps7e7aec4c.gif

When the TTP plans a terrorist act on US soil Claire's boss Alex forms a taskforce to track the threat. Alex wants Claire to be a part of this team. However, when she knows that Gage will be 2IC she is anything but pleased. Six months ago Claire left Gage because she couldn't stand his high-risk job. She was afraid that she would lose him in the line of duty eventually. Though there is no denying it, her feelings for him are still strong and seeing Gage again AND working with him on a daily basis doesn't make it any easier. Gage Wallace, a former Special Forces Master Sergeant and 2IC of the Titanium Security team is madly in love with Claire, for sure, but the most important question remains. Is she ready and willing for a second chance at love?

 photo tumblr_mfiki64qLM1rh1wv4o1_500_large_zps637bfae2.gif

Singed is the sequel to Ignited and even though Ignited works just fine as a standalone I would recommend you to read Singed as well. It's a rather short story that packs a punch. Reunited lovers is one of my favorite tropes because...

a) it's so satisfying to see that a couple wants to rectify past mistakes and work hard to make it better the second time around
and
b) it's a given that there are a lot of emotions and chemistry right in the beginning of the story--if the author is skilled enough to actually write great chemistry.

 photo large_zpsf7f19344.gif

Ignited was a very good and action-packed beginning in Kaylea Cross's new Titanium series, but I *think* that Singed is the better book despite its shortness. It's a very compelling story and written well. Also, the author managed to add a great deal of depth to the story and the very likable characters. While there is less action/suspense in Singed, the main focus is clearly on Gage and Claire's romance and a certain tragedy that was unavoidable as well as foreseeable.

After reading the blurb that reveals almost everything I doubt that I'm going to spoil it for you when I say…
Sometimes the truth is

Kudos to the author who did a great job with the research and the way she handled the sensitive topic. Exceptionally well done.

A specific paragraph sums it up perfectly.

I'll be honest, I'm not really into redheads but Gage's red-gold hair and blue eyes are intriguing. Besides, the man is one seriously spectacular hunk and so sinfully sexy. A huge benefit are his strong and fully tattooed arms. I want him to hug me too. Despite Gage's regular use of the f-bomb, he is a Southern gentleman who opens the door for his woman etc. Plus, his drawl…and his mouth and hands and whatnot…you get the gist. I promise you Gage and Claire have been singed each other in the best and most arousing sense of the word and their chemistry was off the charts. They were burning the sheets…er…rug, for sure, and I am so willing to volunteer anytime. The sex was steamy and enticingly written as I would have expected from Kaylea. As a matter of fact, she never disappoints in that department. I loved Gage's tenderness, empathy and protective streak, but also his way of taking charge in the bedroom. Plus, he is forty-two years old, twelve years older than Claire. Love me some mature sexy man. Yum! He is the perfect alpha male and right up my alley.

"I'm here if you need me, okay?" he said quietly.
Just like that. No demands for more, no expectations.
Her throat tightened more, because she knew he would be there for her no matter what. I love you, she thought wistfully. I'll always love you.

"It's all about incentive with me," he murmured, bending to nibble at the side of her neck.

YOURS…
 photo Bildschirmfoto2013-07-04um185818_zpsa3779e16.png

"You hungry?" Claire asked him.
"I'm always hungry around you."

Minor quibbles
Growling men. Please, please, please…why must they growl? Me not likey. I've had the pleasure of meeting a few men in my life and not one did growl.
Around the 79 % mark

He winced. "Shit." He was so gonna get it.
"Scared of your woman, Gage?"
"She's gotta…temper." And she wasn't afraid to use it, at least with him.

Next up is Sean and Zahra's story. They have been set up perfectly in Singed and I cannot wait to read Burned. Hmm…what are they going to burn? My mind is in the gutter. Again. Oh, and Kaylea, I really hope that you will write Alex's story. Being fifty and mature is sexy as hell after all. *hint* *hint*

57000 words of emotion, intensity, pain, loss, fear, hope, love and happiness that will tug at your heartstrings. I bet you will be rooting for Gage and Claire once you're going to give this story a shot. Singed is their well deserved and beautifully orchestrated second chance at love, and I'm very glad that Gage could convince Claire that he is the only man for her.

"You are the only man for me."

Recommended read.

Claire Tierney is an NSA analyst who found herself in a security intelligence situation after she agreed to get some information for her ex-boyfriend, Gage Wallace, an operative for Titanium Security. Her discovery triggered the need for a joint task force to investigate their findings and now they’re both assigned to the project. And because she’s potentially a target, Gage is also tasked with protecting her until the threat is neutralized. He’s still wanting a relationship. Claire...not so much.

I really liked Gage and respected Claire. Her angst, however, was terribly annoying. While I understood her reasons for walking away from the relationship six months ago, it’s how she did it that was perplexing. Her reactions to them being thrust together again professionally felt immature and their differences seemed like they could have been resolved with one conversation. That being said, I did like their chemistry. I also enjoyed the continuing story arc from the first book. Including the terrorist’s point of view made the story more sinister and amped up the suspense.

While the identity of the orchestrator of the threat is still unresolved, the immediate danger was satisfactorily concluded. I enjoyed the story overall, liked the romance but didn’t love it. The first book was non-stop action but this one had much less focus on suspense, which was a disappointment. 3.5 stars

Warning: This rating is heavily biased because I am just so in love with this couple.

Things I blatantly Ignored:

*Typos
*The lack of editing.
*The cover of the book does not align with the hero’s description, like at all. The hero is a redhead with full sleeve tattoos on both arms. The guy on the cover has dark hair with a barbed wire tattoo (which is such a funny thing to see on a man, btw.)
*This book was self-published at it showed. Some self-published writers are fantastic and go the extra mile to hire great editors and cover artists. The devil is in the details and an expert set of eyes to read and reread the work is worth the cost because the benefits or return readership matter and at this point, I’m not sure I will be one.

Anyway....

This is a second-chance romance story between Gage and Claire. They dated for four months previously and have been separated for at least 6 months, if not more (the time lapse between book 1 and 2 is a little hazy). Gage works at the security firm, Titanium, and Claire works for the NSA. Gage and Claire were hot and heavy during their four months together. They were super in love and Gage bought a ring with the intention of proposing when Claire bails on him with a simple, "I can't do this anymore." Gage was destroyed by the breakup and never stopped loving Claire or wanting her back, which we see in Book 1.

Look, Claire’s reasons for ending the relationship were only partially legit. The reader learns her reasons for ending the relationship right at the beginning of the book. Claire has major fears relating to Gage’s job and not just for safety, but also for his mental health. Both Claire’s father and brother suffer from PTSD and Claire’s broken over the toll combat has taken on her loved ones. I absolutely feel like her fears hold weight. Not everyone is cutout to be married to a person in such a dangerous position.

Less legit reasons were as follows:

1. Claire says their age gap is an issue. They are separated by 12 years, with Gage being older. He’s 42 and Claire is 30. It’s not really clear why this bothers her. She knew his age from the get-go and it’s not like the gap is all that significant (not that I have issues with large age gaps, because I don’t. I have no problem with people dating whoever the hell they want to as long as it is legal and consensual). Also, I don’t think all age-gap relationship can be painted by one brush. A healthy relationship comes in all shapes and sizes and I stand by that in both fiction and real life.

2. Gage has a 14-year-old daughter and apparently that relationship is newly repaired (though, the author doesn’t give a lot of reasons as to why it was fractured in the first place, so I mentally block out the idea that Gage was a shit bag dad, because that seems totally unlike the character that was presented). Claire is nervous and hesitant about being a stepmom as there are lots of responsibilities and potential conflicts when taking on a step-parent role. That reasoning would make sense but it didn’t hold water in this case because Gage’s daughter loved Claire and got along with her great. If Gage's daughter hated Claire, I’d be more understanding of Claire’s reasons.

3. The last non-legit issue is the fact that Gage had a vasectomy before meeting Claire and says he can no longer have kids. Claire states she doesn’t know if she wants to give up on the idea of ever being a mother. I would totally respect her reasoning if the science was accurate. There is a procedure to reverse vasectomies, though I think the success rate varies (Google says 50-80%), but that’s not the only route to have kids. I feel like the author didn’t understand vasectomies and certainly didn’t research them because it’s not like a vasectomy removes the balls. Men who have vasectomies are most certainly still producing sperm. The tube in which those suckers travel is cut and burned, so sperm can't escape into the world. You can still retrieve sperm from a man via needle aspiration and do IVF. So the reason and the lack of logic really irritated me, especially since Claire was supposed to be smart.

**Also, not related to the reasons for breaking up, but later Gage and her are doing the deed and he asks her if she’s still on the pill and pulls out. There was zero discussion if either person had been with other people during their time apart and if condoms were needed. I feel like that was more pressing to discuss than a pregnancy that has something like a 1 in 10,000 chance of happening.

Anyway, all of the above make it sound like this book wasn’t good, but Gage is SOOOOOO desperately and totally in love with Claire, that I couldn't help but swoon over his devotion. I just love him and that made me rate this book higher. He’s now one of my favorite heroes. Also, I like Claire and I like Gage and Claire as a couple. They truly love one another and their path back together had a lot of touching moments.

I wanted more moments of Claire and Gage together and I would have preferred the author flesh out their relationship more (both past and present). The story itself was a little wobbly and I don’t think I’m going to continue with this series but may circle back to the author eventually.

Hero is 5 stars.
Story is 3ish.

Gage's story

 photo yes.gif

Okay, this is going to be a really quick review because I just can't wait to continue on with the series and read Sean & Zahra's story!

This story continues a couple of weeks after the ending of Ignited where we are first introduced to Claire (who works for NSA) and Gage (the Titanium security teams second in command).
Claire and Gage have a past, and because of Gage's job, and the dedicated, loyal Alpha that he is she can't handle constantly worrying about him or always coming in 'last' to his job.

Gage asks Claire to pulls some string at the NSA for his team (on the downlow) and while doing so she finds information that makes their mission a lot bigger than anyone really realized. This puts Claire on the grid and makes her a target.
Gage and Claire are now forced to work together on a task-force in order to find the leader of the cell group that is after Claire, went after Khalia, and was responsible for the death of John Patterson (Ignited)

Gage has never stopped loving Claire, and will do anything keep her safe.

Favorite Quotes:

Gage:"If this was the last time he got to have her, he was going to make it one hell of a goodbye.
Staring straight into her eyes, he released her wrists and murmured, "Turn it loose.""

Claire:"She'd been a complete and utter idiot to ever think she could live without this man. All her reasons for ending things with him, reasons she'd been convinced would mean certain doom for them if they'd stayed together, seemed so fucking stupid now. Especially today, when facing the reality of how quickly life could change."

This is where the story gets really good.

Once again Kaylea Cross has the reader engaged right from the beginning of the story to the very last words written.

The story is intense. The characters well-written (Gage is now one of favorite KC characters.. right behind Luke Hutchinson from Absolution).

If your a fan of military-suspense-romance, then I highly recommend this story, and this series to you.

You won't be disappointed!

4 1/2 Alpha-licious Stars!!!

Another wonderful installment in the Titanuim Series. This one focused more on the romance then the first book, but there was still plenty of action to keep things moving. In fact, it was over way too fast. I enjoyed it so much, I hated for it to end.

Singed tells the story of Claire and Gage and their second chance at love. Kaylea Cross writes terrific alpha heroes and Cage is now a favorite of mine. He's a mature ex-Special Forces tattoed bad-ass who stole my heart while trying to win back the love of his life, Claire. The way he was so sweet and tender with Claire while she was going through a very difficult time in her life totally melted me. These two were so obviously meant to be together and their sexual chemistry was explosive. Boy could they ever burn up the sheets!!!

The terrorist storyline that started in the first book continued here, with Hunter, Gage and the rest of thet Titanium crew risking their lives to do their job. That storyline will keep going in the next book, Burned, Sean and Zahara's story. I'm really looking forward to reading it.

3.5 ⭐⭐⭐✨

Claire Tierney is an NSA analyst. She and Gage Wallace (2IC for Titanium Security) have a past. Gage then asked Claire for a favor that helped him and his team when they worked a security job in Pakistan(refer to Ignited). Claire’s boss together with the FBI formed a task force who will track down Hassani and the TTP’s movement.

This one has a slower pacing and has less action than Ignited. It tackles how Gage and Claire rekindled their relationship and how important to live life to the fullest. My favorite scene here was when Gage was cooking and how Hunter tried to eat all the Nachos, it was hilarious imagining it 😂. I also like how KC tackles a real life portrayal of the soldiers with PTSD and the people around them (family & friends).

Another good read. 👌🏻👍🏻

"I'm here if you need me, okay?" he said quietly.
Just like that. No demands for more, no expectations.
Her throat tightened more, because she knew he would be there for her no matter what."

Gonna go with 4 Stars...

I had a hard time rating this one for some reason. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed it. After all, I firmly believe Kaylea Cross is a master in this genre and I will read anything she produces. The story was fast paced and action packed and, as usual per Cross, there was plenty of sexual tension between the two main leads (as well as the typical periphery character couple "lay-up" for the next book).

My only beefs with this one are:

1) It felt a little short. I wanted it to be longer.
2) I felt short changed in the sex department.

And this is super petty of me, but this is my review so I can bitch if I want to and it drove me NUTS.

Anyway, despite those negligible issues, I really enjoyed the story. It was well written, fun to read, and I had been looking forward to Claire and Gage's story for some time now.

*2,5 stars*

Unlike with book 1, this story didn't felt kind of flat. So why do I give them the same rating? Because this one was really too short and as a matter of fact it only skimmed the suspense part.

In my romantic suspense I don't mind if the romance takes the most part of the story but here the suspense part was really thin, barely more than an alibi for the story. And in the tiny suspense part, Gage made quite the stupid decision. I also didn't understand why Alex jumped up the gun with the last meeting. This isn't what I would qualify as "intelligent behavior" either, but the villain needed an opportunity to act so why do we care about cleverness or things that make sense, right?

And what about the lawn business? Gage mowed Claire's lawn and the safe house's as well? I admit I was lost there.

Also, one of the reasons Claire left Gage is because he had a vasectomy, so why when the first time they have sex does he ask her if she's on the pill ?

That being said, the story is fast paced and I really enjoyed Claire and Gage. I also liked Claire's brother parts because unfortunately it's a reality a lot of ex military men face, to bad it was rushed.

Wow I thought I'll have to wait for my birthday till this book comes out and then viola there it was on Amazon. Even though the first book didn't wow me over I was onboard for this one and I am glad. This has suspense in it but not as much its more about Claire, her family and the mistake she made in ending it with Gage. She loves him still but ending it with him was logical, she has seen first hand what his line of work does plus he comes with a daughter, promise of no more kids and is older than her but she sees it doesn't matter, love does and that life is short.

All of this happens when she is put on a task force with him and something tragic happens in her life. I loved how Gage was so great and tender with her. He had been hurt yet he took care of her, an awesome guy! All in all I enjoyed the book and can't wait for the next one.

Rule # 1 in the Intelligent Woman Handbook states: You mustn’t fuck up a good thing with a good man. Clearly, Claire did not do her homework. Her excuses for hurting Gage were just that … excuses and it pissed me off that she was so self-centered.

She wasn’t a bad character – she just didn’t do it for me, but even I couldn’t deny the primal heat between her and Gage.

He was sweet, sexy, and so male. And when they came together it was passionate and earthy.

Less action in this one as it was more character-driven, but I highly enjoyed it and I’m really looking forward to more from the Titanium men.

Another fab installment in this Titanium series. Not as action packed as the first book; this story is based on the relationship and romance between Gage and Claire. The heat between these two wonderful characters just sizzles. Niiiiice! ;) Kaylea certainly knows how to pen these alpha heroes, with their realistic qualities that never fail to draw you in. Gage is delicious! Enjoy!

Real, raw and relevant. There were parts on this plot I wasn't happy with, but it was a real portrayal of life after military service and that not all servicemen come home whole after their experiences in a war zone.

Claire Tierney’s family is her father and brother, both former Green Berets. Her father is a functioning alcoholic and her brother is barely functioning with PTSD after his service. Claire has really good reasons for not wanting a relationship with Gage Wallace, in addition to the fact that he is also a former Green Beret.

But, Fate has different plans for Claire and she is thrown together with Gage on a taskforce in a quest to find a terrorist on American soil and the clock is ticking. Claire works for the NSA and Gage works for Titanium Security and now it looks like Claire could be a target. Gage will do whatever it takes to keep her safe, even if it puts him in danger.

Purchased and read: Danger and Desire.

I looked forward to this story ever since catching bits and pieces of their history in IGNITED. I really liked Gage (41) since the first book. Despite his personal turmoil, he had a great sense of humor and he was the perfect man to be Hunter’s second in command. The former Green Beret was divorced and had a thirteen year old daughter. He didn’t want more kids so he had had a vasectomy. Then he met Clair, they dated for four months, but before he could propose, she broke up with him. He tried giving Claire space hoping she'd reconsider but she moved on, or so she said.

NSA analyst Claire (30) did a favor for Gage in IGNITED, and that favor had come back to bite her in the butt. Not only did she have to deal with pressure at work, but the feelings for Gage that she’d tucked away came back full force. She thought her reasons for walking away from him were sound at the time—the twelve year age difference, she wasn’t ready to be a stepmom, she didn’t want to give up on the idea of having kids, and she didn’t ever want to be with someone in his line of work.

Claire was a little all over the place in this book and it took her a long time to even out because of the threat against her, then her mixed emotions about Gage, and finally having to deal with the suicide of her brother. She spent a lot of time in tears, mourning, wracked with guilt and anger. I didn't particularly enjoy the scene of her emotions coming to a boil that Gage wanted to help her work it off by allowing her to hit him. And I had to wonder if her brother hadn't died so suddenly, would Claire have eventually admitted to her real feelings for Gage? I just didn’t feel the chemistry between them, unlike between Khalia and Hunter. Even though it’s been two weeks since I read the first two books, this one was forgettable whereas Ignited was anything but.

I was disappointed that the action and suspense didn't come close to the first book. I was hoping for another dangerous security op like it was with Khalia and Hunter. Now that one unfolded like a movie while this one was like an episode for a tv series. I felt the ending was a little rushed with the team finding out who the real targets of the bombing had been.

I still enjoy the characters and the writing overall, so I'm looking forward to Zahra and Sean's story since their POVs indicated their story might be next.

The second book in Kaylea Cross' Titanium Security series. Claire Tierney works for NSA as an analyst. She is assigned to a taskforce and finds her ex-lover Gage Wallace is also part of the taskforce. It is discovered that Claire may be a possible target for the Taliban and Gage is given guard duty. There are some personal issues that Claire has to deal with and then there is the issue of walking away from the man she loves six months before.

The story starts shortly after the first book ends. There is a small cliffhanger of sorts but it didn't bother me too much. (I hate cliffhangers!) It was a pretty decent read and I think I liked it slightly more than the first book but not enough to give it higher ratings. I am undecided on whether I'll continue the series.

Singed is the second book in the Titanium Security series. This one follows on from the first book as the hunt to stop a terrorist group continues, this time on American soil. While I missed the tension and action that was constantly present in the first book, I still enjoyed this entry. Claire walked away from Gage six months ago to protect herself from being in a military relationship. Her father and brother were both former military men and she has dealt her entire life with what that now means. However, once Intel points to Claire being targeted by the terrorist group they are chasing down, Gage can’t stay away when she might be in danger. The question for them is can Claire learn to let him back in, and live with whatever consequences might come with that decision?

Like I said above, I did enjoy this entry. However this one felt much shorter, it felt incomplete in regards to what headway they have made with hunting down the bad guys and I think rather than action and suspense, this one focused more on emotions. There was so much heartache and sadness that it weighed down the story a lot. It still had strong characters, great chemistry and an interesting plot which I can’t wait to read in the next book. I would definitely recommend to fans of the first book and Kaylea’s other books.

3.50 Stars. Would have given it a higher score, but I don't feel that the couples real issues were really addressed versus Clare just saying ok I will just give up on my dreams for Gage. Trust me that never works out in the end. Clare wanted kids and Gage had a vasectomy before they met. So instead of Gage acknowledging that there were other options out there, she just says she will let that go. THAT never works. I have personal experience with that issue. Women will do crazy things when they want a baby. :-)

I wanted to like this so much more, and for others it will ROCK. It is really a preference/personal bias issue for me. I know others will see this as so romantic, but my emotional little heart just bleeds thinking of Claire's dad, serving his country, losing his son in a horrific way, and then never getting to be a grandfather. I would think it would mean the world to him to see his daughter happy, and also to have the family carried on...maybe a little boy named after Danny? I wish for Claire to experience joy, and the chance to be the mother that her own mom chose not to be to her, before pushing around her older husband's wheelchair. I really hope they adopt a child.

I view Gage as a bit selfish, but again, others will love exactly that alpha-ness about him. His ways may not work for me, but Claire obviously eats it up and that is all the counts. I do love his tenderness with her when she heard about her brother and his protective instincts, southern boy manners, and that he owns his prior mistakes as a father. I just longed to see him REALLY hear Claire and give her what she asked for. Their intimate times were so unfulfilling when she would reach for him only to be deflected time and again for what he wanted.

I love this author's work so I obviously I will continue reading it, but this particular story will be a one-time read for me.

I don't even know why I keep reading this books. The first one was entertaining....but this one....maaaan...nothing happens!
Gage was so cool in book one and in this one was just...nothing....Clare was portrayed to be this kick ass chick and as well, turned out to be nothing.
I can't say anything about this book because it's about nothing....it's just plain pointless...

I’m thinking this series isn’t for me. I was so so on the first book and the same for this one. A bit odd as I have liked a couple of the authors other series. I can’t really pin point why I thought this one was so so. I hated what Clare went through with her family, can see how that would color what she wanted out of life and the decision she made with Gage in the past. Can also see why the events of this book would make her change her mind and happy to see how this one ended.

Even if this story is less packed and shorter than the previous one it deserves its 5 stars!

The first thing that stands out about Singed, it’s heavily focused on romance and I couldn’t help but easily fall into the story. Gage and Claire have a history, one that’s set up slightly in book 1 of the series, Ignited. We know going in that Gage is still in love with Claire, but after a few months of dating she broke it off and broke his heart. They were working together on a terrorist case and it was their first contact since the break-up. That case has rolled over into a new one and they’re back working together, this time in person and Claire’s not sure she made the right decision when it came to ending their relationship.

Claire is dealing with a father and brother who both served and her brother is currently in trouble dealing with PTSD. He’s tried to kill himself twice and she’s constantly worried about him. She and her father have tried numerous ways to help him, but nothing’s worked and he’s getting worse and close to giving up completely. Claire also finds out that she’s a potential target by a local terrorist cell due to her involvement with the Titanium security group and the mission they just got home from in. Growing up and living with her dad and brother and seeing how their lives were impacted after serving their country was the driving force in Claire breaking up with Gage. She can’t deal with another male in her life going through these same things, but Gage sets out to prove to her that he’s not like them and that he can be trusted.

After heartbreak and tragedy hits Claire, she starts to reevaluate her life and her choices, especially her decision to break things off with Gage. He’s never stopped loving her and will do anything he can to protect her and win another shot at her heart.

I loved seeing this couple come back together. Gage is exactly what Claire needs him to be, even if she doesn’t know it at the time when she goes through a horrible situation. For as sexy as they are, it was those moments that made me fall in love with them as a couple. Seeing Gage just be there for her in whatever way she needed, whether it was just holding her, making her a meal or kicking people out of her house so she could fall apart without an audience. He gets her and he makes it impossible for Claire to push him away for a second time.

The action and suspense is fairly low key in this book. The overall terrorist storyline remains ongoing and the discovery of someone close to them being a mole should be the driving force going into the next book. There’s a small build up for the next couple (at least I hope they’ll be the next couple!). Sparks fly between Titanium security member Sean and Zahra, a specialist brought in to help the team with their current mission. They brought a smile to my face in just the short amount of time they were on page and they made me want to know more about them.

For as action packed as Ignited was, Singed took a step back and really focused on Gage and Claire. I loved seeing the focus stay on them and seeing them try to repair and rebuild their relationship. Did I miss the action scenes that Kaylea Cross writes with such detail and excitement? A little bit, but the ongoing terrorist storyline is still moving forward and I have no doubt that more action and suspense is just around the corner. Gage and Claire captured my attention and their romance and relationship was very satisfying.

4.5 Stars for me. Excellent follow up. This one is more focus on the romance and less on the action packed pace set in the first book. Don’t get me wrong… This is in no way a slow paced book.

Background on both characters was so good. Chemistry was palpable, loved that Hunt never hesitates to assign them to work together after his internal debacle about not mixing with a principal in the first book (yeah… I know they were partners, but still he was assigned to protect her).

What I love the most was his gentleness, how he reads her and knows exactly what she need, how he finally opens up to her and share his emotional side. From her, how she changed her perspective about living without him after learning how short and unexpected life can be.

What I didn’t enjoy much was the fact that even though she didn’t outright told him to quit, I kept thinking that was the only thing that would keep her from fully committing with Gage. I know the entire trauma she suffered with both men in her family had left its mark, but still she always knew what he did for living. Well that aside the book was perfect and a compromise was reached.

My confused moment was when he asked her if she was on the pill??? Didn’t he have a vasectomy??? Why such a specimen of a man decided to go for a vasectomy??? OK forget that… The scene was so hot that my thoughts only stray for a little while then I kept on reading.

So looking forward to Zahra (love the name) and Dunphy’s story.
